Kaash Paige Is Feeling Like A “Superstar” On Her Latest Offering

Kaash Paige is one of many underrated multi-talents who bring tons of different sounds to her music. The Dallas, Texas singer and rapper definitely shares a lot of similarities with Travis Scott and Don Toliver. Those two are pioneers and major influences on the current style coming out of the Southwest. Dark, melodic, psychedelic, and atmospheric auto-tune-tinged cuts are the name of the game.

That is the vibe Kaash Paige is bringing to the table on her latest single “Superstar.” It is a hard flexing cut, as the 23-year-old is flaunting her expensive jewelry and rockstar lifestyle. The lyrics are somewhat reminiscent of Post Malone and 21 Savage’s mega hit “rockstar.” However, outside of that, this a Kaash Paige track the rest of the way.

So, hopefully we get new soon that a new tape is on the way.

Kaash Paige Drops Cold But Stunning Single “Waterfalls”

Def Jam signee, R&B singer, and terrific feature artist are just some of the ways to describe Kaash Paige. The 23-year-old from Dallas, Texas has taken up a lot of the recent soundscapes that have become popular over the last few years. Those ones we are referring to come from rappers like Travis Scott and Don Toliver. You will hear all of those familiar sonics on Kaash Paige’s latest single “Waterfalls.”

This single follows up her previous one from late January called “TEMPTATIONS.” According to Paige’s Instagram “Waterfalls” was a Valentine’s Day drop. However, with her last record dropping all the way back in 2022, a rollout for a new one could be in store. As we mentioned “Waterfalls” takes a lot of cues from Scott and Don’s music. Which makes sense considering their collaboration “Euphoria.”

It feels very large in scope with its transcendent synths that sound like something right out of a MIKE DEAN’s track. However, he is nowhere to be found on this one. Credit goes to Christopher Billik and Sir Tim. Kaash pens a song about missing another love interest, questioning her own desirability, and trying get out of the rut she is in. The sound of the record is what takes this one to whole other level.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Waterfalls,” by Kaash Paige? Is this her best single over the last year or so? Do you think this is part of an album rollout or just a single? Does she deserve more praise for being one of the best R&B singers in the current field? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:

Sometimes, I just sit in my room
Sometimes, I just daydream ’bout you
Thing one and you’re my thing two
Come through and let me lay it on you
Bounce, bounce, ooh, I love it when you bounce
Bend that a** over, girl, don’t you make a sound (Shh, shh, shh)

Kaash Paige’s ‘All Girls Cry’ Video Finds Her Sitting In The Pain

Kaash Paige recently spoke with Uproxx about reconnecting with her hometown Dallas and realizing, “Whatever is meant for you is always gonna happen.” In her “All Girls Cry” video, Kaash bears out that sentiment. The moody visual perfectly mirrors the message within her Soundtrack 2 My Life single.

“You just know what to do with it / I just know and I pursue it / All girls cry, all girls cry,” Kaash coos. Her eyes are hidden by sunglasses but her heart is fully exposed. Sitting alone inside of an all-red room, she’s willing to sit in her uncomfortable emotions and observations. “You just play with my mind like no other, baby, why would you do that?” she poses in the introspective first verse.

The second verse zooms out the lens — “so many girls cry every night” — but still hinges on a relationship that’s painfully unresolved. Despite her tears and unanswered questions, Kaash would do it all again. “Come and hold me tonight, I know you miss this,” she sings.

“I’m not trying to be toxic,” Kaash additionally told Uproxx last month. “I might just have a little bit too much honesty in me, and it comes off [toxic] to certain people. But I feel like when people call me ‘toxic R&B princess’ or whatever – that was a cool era, but right now I’m in my rockstar era. I’m in my alternative R&B era where it’s like, if you still think it’s toxic, that’s how you perceive it. But I’m not going for that.”

Kaash’s S2ML era has included the release of singles “Doubted Me,” “Miss My Dawgs” featuring 6lack, and “24 Hrs” featuring Lil Tjay. Around the album’s November release, Kaash announced the Me Vs Myself Tour, her first headlining tour. The nine-date trek begins on January 27 in Oakland, California. Tickets are available here.

Kaash Paige And 6lack Reminisce On Past Friendships In Their Astronomical ‘Miss My Dawgs’ Video

Kaash Paige and 6lack have dropped the video for their new collaboration, “Miss My Dawgs.

In the video, directed by Marmo Films, Paige is seen navigating a spacecraft solo. As she walks about the ship, she reminisces on past friendships, however, she knows better than to rekindle them.

6lack is seen on a different planet, finding comfort in his solitude, before he is joined by Paige. Then, the two embrace, knowing that they can trust in each other. Paige and 6lack then hop in the spacecraft and set off to the next destination.

Paige’s second album, The Fall Off, arrives this fall via Def Jam. She detailed The Fall Off in a recent interview with Billboard, Paige detailed the album, noting that it will include pop records, as well as the type of music she’s been wanting to create.

‘The vibe is just kind of just like … when you haven’t dropped your own art in two years, you hear a lot of comments like, “She fell off” or “What’s she doing?” “When’s she dropping music?” And it’s just like… I didn’t fall off,” Paige said. “I just had to get myself ready for what God had prepared for me. I feel as if people don’t allow artists to take the time out to get to know themselves, to get to know the people around them, or to understand what they actually want to do and what kind of sound they want to make.”

Kaash Paige And 6lack Refuse To Look Back On Their New Song, ‘Miss My Dawgs’

Kaash Paige and 6lack have reunited, but their musical chemistry on their latest collab creates a feeling of distance. On their latest, “Miss My Dawgs,” the two long to reconnect with people from their individual pasts, however, for their own well-being, they choose not to.

Paige opens the song, with her signature soft, sweet vocals, singing, “Switching sides on me / Thought you were the homie / But I’d rather be, I’d rather be lonely.” She laments this loss briefly, before she takes “a shot for [her] real team.”

6lack hops in with the second verse, reflecting on how he’s cut certain people out of his life.

“They can’t fit the picture, so I cut them out the frame,” he sings without any regret.

“’Miss My Dawgs’ is just about missing family members, or missing long-lost friends that you know you can’t hang out with anymore,” said Paige in a statement, “but it can go for anything. I remember sitting on my homie’s balcony in Miami, drinking shroom tea and I came up with the idea and just kept singing it and was like ‘Man I gotta make this song tomorrow.’ I went to the studio recorded it, left a verse open, and sent it straight to 6lack.”

Kaash Paige And Lil Tjay Foreshadow A Night Of Steaming Intimacy With Their Lovers On ’24 Hrs’

The last time we received a project from Dallas native Kaash Paige was back in 2020 with Teenage Fever. The 13-track project delivered collaborations from Don Toliver, Ssgkobe, 42 Dugg, K Camp, and Isaiah Rashad for what amounted to a strong debut from the young singer. After Teenage Fever, Paige laid low for a bit as her 2021 year was a quiet one. However, after Uproxx caught up with her at New York’s Rolling Loud festival, she hinted at a pretty eventful 2022 year. “It’s my time and everybody’s gonna know Kaash Paige,” she said at the time. “It’ll be a lot of crazy music that’s dropping [at the] top of the year.”

The music that Paige spoke of is slowly rolling in with her latest release being a collaboration with Lil Tjay. “24 Hrs” strikes as a sultry and slow tempo record that warns their respective lovers of a night of steaming intimacy after they’ve returned to town. The track arrives with an accompanying music video that captures Paige and Tjay in an abandoned and dimly-lit facility as they’re entertained by the very women they plan to end the night with.

“24 Hrs” drops after Paige kicked off her 2022 year with “Girlfriend” while recently teamed up with French Montana in the video for their “Bag Season” collaboration.

Kaash Paige Is Intentional About Her Relationship Status in New Song ‘Girlfriend’

maxresdefault

Kaash Paige returns with visuals for her latest single, “Girlfriend.” In the song, the 21-year-old is intentional about letting her potential romances know that she is not ready for a relationship. She sings:

So you wanna be my girlfriend?
Don’t
fall in love with a b**ch like me

In the same breath, she has valid reasons to live and enjoy life on her own terms without the pressures of commitment. She sings:

I can hear them screaming out, Tequila, Tequila
Bad b**ches they smoking all the reefer
Where the keys at talking no Alicia
Where the freaks at dancing by the speakers

Kaash Paige also references her past experiences as well. She’s only used to “goodbyes,” which implies the inconsistencies of her previous relationships.

The video is a perfect parallel of the record’s lyrics. In several scenes, she is posted with different women. On the other hand, when she references “tequila” and “bad b**ches by the speakers,” she is enjoying the party.

“Girlfriend” is Paige’s first single release since her 2021 track, “Bad Girl.”

Kaash Paige And Abby Jasmine Are Women In R&B Finding Their Own Place At Rolling Loud

Rolling Loud is known for bringing a huge cast of hip-hop acts from all over the world to one place so that music lovers can watch performances from their favorites and discover new artists in the process. In 2021, Rolling Loud has brought showcases to both Miami and New York with a third one planned for Los Angeles next month. Hip-hop’s biggest names which include J. Cole, Travis Scott, Bobby Shmurda, Roddy Ricch, Young Thug, Gunna, Lil Durk, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Cart, Lil Baby, and many more all performed at the festival this year.

With that being said, Rolling Loud also has room for R&B acts to bring their own unique energy to the festival. At last month’s New York festival, Kaash Paige and Abby Jasmine were two R&B singers who took the stage at the showcase and it comes after a strong period for them both. Paige shared her debut album Teenage Fever last year while Jasmine delivered a deluxe reissue for her album Who Cares? to close 2020. She also dropped her I Hate You 2 EP earlier this year.

We caught up with both singers at Rolling Loud to discuss their feelings towards returning to the big festival stage. We also discussed their growth as performers and what’s next for them in their respective careers.

I assume it’s been a while since you’ve performed at a festival this big, how did you enjoy your experience in returning to the big stage today?

Kaash Paige: Man, I’m just really appreciative of the moment. You’re right, during COVID we didn’t get to shine. A lot of the artists, like myself, I dropped my debut album during COVID and I didn’t get to perform how I wanted to. But this year, I got to tour, I got to be outside. I’m just grateful for everything and I’m just excited for next year.

Abby Jasmine: It was a crazy experience from start to finish. The anticipation leading up to it was crazy. You anticipate for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks on a 15-minute moment. I was definitely on edge the entire time up until my performance. As soon as I got to the Rolling Loud, it was a little bit more real. That made me a bit more nervous, but as soon as I got on the stage, it was great. The crowd and dope, everybody came outside ready to have a good time. I’ve definitely done some shows where people just stand around, but the Rolling Loud crowd was dope.

What do you cherish the most about experiences like this?

KP: I think I cherish seeing every different section of the crowd, you see people that don’t mess with you, you see the people that mess with you, you see the n****s that’s like, “who is this?” You see motherf*ckers like, “Oh, I’m getting hip!” It’s really exciting because, in reality, it’s just work. I feel like this was probably the craziest Rolling Loud performance I’ve ever had, it was insane. I jumped in the crowd, they moshed everywhere, I didn’t expect the crowd to go that crazy. Yeah, I’m just in awe right now.

AJ: I think the biggest one for me is being able to share that experience with my friends, I consider them my chosen family. Sometimes I do shows out of state and they’re not able to make those performances. So being able to have all my friends in that one space and be able to turn up and look into the crowd and see my friends. Walking around backstage, I had my little Henny bottle, I was driving that thing around and we’re just having fun and doing sh*t that we do on a regular basis, but now we’re at Rolling Loud. It was just a really dope experience to be able to do that was my friends because we’re all from New York and we’d never been to a Rolling Loud.

You have both hip-hop and R&B in your discography, and being out here at a major rap festival, I wanted to ask: which one do you enjoy performing more?

KP: Nobody is really used to hearing an R&B singer at a festival for hip-hop. I think I just come out and let n****s know “I’m out here like God sent me.” I’m gonna sing these vocals, but I’m bout to turn up with y’all too. So I try to give them both of everything.

AJ: There’s a real big difference between R&B and rap crowds. There are certain songs I can play for R&B crowds that might not slide with the rap crowd because they’re there to turn up. They want to hear like, you know, lit sh*t. I feel like I do a really good job at trying to blend two as far as when I do sets. I always try to give the R&B crowds a little bit of some rap sh*t and I always tried to get the rap crowd a little bit of like R&B sh*t.

What song do you enjoy performing the most?

KP: I like singing “Love Songs” as my first song just because of course, people know me by that

AJ: I feel like the song that does well with both crowds is “Poland Spring.” That’s just a regular R&B joint, just a real feel-good song and it always does well with like crowds. So that’s one of my favorite ones to perform, and probably “On God” because every time I do that one, the crowd’s energy is crazy.

What do you think has made your onstage experience easier or more comfortable as you’ve grown as an artist?

KP: I just got off tour with Lil Tjay. Doing shows every single day just got me more comfortable to know that it’s gonna be tough crowds and it’s gonna be lit crowds. There’s gonna be moments where your mic’s not working or your sound’s not working. So it’s just being able to be prepared for those moments at all times.

AJ: To be very honest with you, live performances were not my strongest suit for a very long time because I felt like my priorities were always the music. Now I’m kind of seeing it for what it is. There are so many different elements to make music, like yes the music isn’t important, but live performances are something that I was really neglecting. I wasn’t paying much attention to it because I didn’t really have a lot of shows during the pandemic. So coming back, I got real humbled when I had a show and it was a sh*t show. I told myself, like, “Yo, this cannot happen at Rolling Loud. I need to be more prepared.” So I really went in on doing rehearsals and just all that type of stuff.

Did you check out other performances? Who did you enjoy the most? Who would’ve you like to see if you had the chance?

KP: I’m looking forward to seeing J. Cole. I need to hear that. It’s something about J. Cole’s aura that just draws me in. It’s not only the fact that he’s talking about real life, it’s the fact that I relate. He’s an artist that is [one of] the greatest of all time, but still tries to humble himself and put himself down. He be like, “Oh, I’m coming in third place” or I’m doing this or that, like n**** shutup. You’re the goat bro you know? I just relate because we’re all hard on ourselves, especially being artists.

AJ: Okay, so I only saw one performance and I’ll tell you why. The Hennessy caught up to me very early. I’m glad I wasn’t smoking because I would have been just passed out somewhere, probably. The Hennessy got to me real early. I remember very vividly, though, telling people to take me to go and see Asian Doll, I wanted to see Asian Doll so badly. They took me to see Asian Doll, I did go and see Asian Doll and I got to meet her afterwards, it was dope. Oh, I got to see a little bit of Kaash Paige’s set.

What’s the next chapter for you look like?

KP: The next chapter for Kaash Paige is let me finish these shows up this year, and top of the year, it’s my time and everybody’s gonna know Kaash Paige. It’ll be a lot of crazy music that’s dropping [at the] top of the year.

AJ: Well, right now I’m kind of on my little spiritual journey. This year’s been kind of rough. I thought last year was rough, but this year it’s definitely been a little rougher. [I’m] kind of on my spiritual journey, just trying to learn more about myself so I can put that into my music so that everything will keep being authentic. At the end of the day, I just want to be my most authentic self. I’m working on music, I should have something ready by the top of the year.
