Track of the Week: OMB Peezy’s “Think You Ready”

OMB Peezy is one of the hottest artists to come out of Mobile, Alabama, and he continues to unleash banger after banger for his growing fanbase. Boasting one million followers on Instagram alone, real name LeParis Dade is best known for creating heartfelt street anthems inspired directly by his journey from the mud to now a thriving rap career.

Today, OMB Peezy returns with his newest single titled “Think You Ready,” a motivational anthem reminding folks to go out there and go after their wildest dreams. Life will come at you fast, and you must be prepared for whatever obstacles and hurdles you face. The single is his first release from his forthcoming self-titled sophomore album Le’Paris

Speaking on the record, OMB Peezy states, “This is a self-named album, which means I’m talking about my real self. I don’t think they’re ready for how bipolar I am and me as a person. I’ll wake up feeling like this, then throughout the day I start feeling like this. It’s all different things. Everyday, I wake up it’s a different person. Leaning more towards the past versus OMB Peezy or Overkill.”

“Think You Ready” serves as a pregame to what OMB Peezy is about to drop next, simultaneously promoting his own Overkill label. He’s also currently on the road for his Le’Paris Tour, hitting major cities worldwide.

OMB Peezy Doesn’t ‘Think You Ready’ For His Defiant ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance

From Alabama to the Bay Area, Sick Wid It rapper OMB Peezy has been making a name for himself for the past few years thanks to impressive releases such as Preacher To The Streets, Too Deep For Tears, and Misguided. Now, with his new album, Le’Paris (taken from his real first name), coming soon, Peezy drops by Uproxx Studios to deliver a defiant performance of his new single “Think You Ready.”

Produced by Quay Global, the new track finds Peezy questioning and challenging the listener at the same time with its dismissive refrain as he details the struggles he’s survived and the big plans he’s got for the future. “Look, if you think you ready, it get deadly,” he warns. “We be marching up on feet / R.I.P. Tez, survived the headshot ‘fore he took ’em off the street / You think you ready ’til them boys walk up and blind you with a beam / I been heavy all my life, they wanna drop me ’cause I’m me.” He also briefly addresses his legal troubles while asserting they are no problem, just another hurdle for him to jump on his road to success.

King Von’s Estate Celebrates His 28th Birthday by Releasing “Get It Done” Video with OMB Peezy

King Von's Estate Celebrates His 28th Birthday by Releasing "Get It Done" Video with OMB Peezy

King Von’s estate releases the video for “Get It Done” feat. OMB Peezy, a standout track off his posthumous album What It Means To Be King, in honor of his 28th birthday.

In the video, Von and Peezy meet together as their potential attackers watch. Before the would-be assailants can act, Von and Peezy speed off in a Maserati with bundles of cash in hand. They end up mobbing in a remote region while issuing dire threats about what will happen to anyone who crosses them. The bars are spoken over Chopsquad DJ, a regular producer, and collaborator with Von.

Von rose to prominence as one of the game’s top storytellers in less than three years after he began his rap career. What It Means To Be King, a deserving follow-up to Von’s Welcome To O’Block-certified GOLD debut, left a huge impression when it made its release in March and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200.

OMB Peezy Was Reportedly Arrested In Connection With The Roddy Ricch And 42 Dugg Video Shooting

Sacramento rapper OMB Peezy has been arrested in connection with the shooting on an Atlanta music video set two weeks ago, according to XXL. The well-established hip-hop magazine confirmed via Fulton County court records that Paris LeDade — better known as OMB Peezy — was arrested Monday, March 1 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony for an incident on February 21, the day of the shooting. Peezy’s bond is set at $40,000 — $30,000 for the assault and the rest for possession of a firearm.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Peezy relocated to California before high school and has since shuttled back and forth between the two cities, maintaining roots to both the Bay Area post-hyphy and Southern trap sounds. He most recently released the mixtape In The Meantime while working on his next album, the follow-up to 2019’s Preacher To The Streets, dropping the “Dope Boys” video with Rylo Rodriguez in early February. Unfortunately, it seems art imitated life in this situation, leading to the arrest and fans’ concern that 42 Dugg and Roddy Ricch, the two rappers whose video set the shooting occurred, were injured or worse.

However, Roddy and Dugg very quickly allayed those concerns, confirming that they were not among the three people injured in the shooting. No motive for the shooting has been reported as yet.

Roddy Ricch is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
