Swizz Beatz Revs Up Verzuz Relaunch With Major Announcement

Swizz Beatz riled Verzuz fans up on Thursday (Nov. 7) with an Instagram preview of its return in 2025. The super producer shared a video of a new hoodie tagged with the Verzuz account, captioned “2025 Loading…” The teaser follows the brand’s announcement of its partnership with X, formerly Twitter, over the summer. Founded by Swizz and Timbaland in 2020, Verzuz became a huge success during the pandemic with viral clashes by the biggest names in music, including Rick Ross, Ne-Yo, Babyface, and more.

After a high-profile lawsuit against Triller over contract disputes, the brand announced a new distribution partnership with X on June 20. Triller and Verzuz settled in 2022, but the superproducers filed another lawsuit in 2024, alleging Triller failed to honor the agreement. Verzuz’s new deal reveals that the relaunch will be exclusively distributed on X. After announcing a hiatus in 2022, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland shared that they are “beyond excited” about working with the social media platform. “Beyond thrilled to have found the best partner for Verzuz,” they wrote in an official statement.

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Ready Verzuz For 2025, Previews New Merch

Elon Musk‘s involvement in the new distribution deal has received mixed reviews on social media. Swizz Beatz addressed the backlash immediately after the announcement, assuring fans that the production value would be preserved. “We will show you better than tell you,” Swizzy wrote in an Instagram post about the new deal in June. Verzuz’s legal battle with former partner Triller remains unresolved in 2024.

A lineup for the relaunch has yet to be announced. In June, Timbaland mentioned taking the match-up worldwide and explained, “Our goal has always been to bring Verzuz to the world which we can now do bigger than ever.” Are you ready for Verzuz’s return? Halle Bailey Deactivates X After Blasting DDG For Son’s Kai Cenat Stream Appearance

Last month, DDG announced that he and Halle Bailey had gone their separate ways just a few months after welcoming their first child together, Halo. In the breakup announcement, he described the split as amicable. He even claimed that he and the Little Mermaid actress were still “best friends.” They’ve both kept fairly quiet about each other since then. Last night, however, DDG’s appearance on Kai Cenat’s stream prompted Bailey to call him out on X.

During the stream, DDG brought out baby Halo, which Bailey claims she did not approve of. “Just so you know I am out of town and I don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight. I wasn’t told or notified,” she tweeted, “I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. I am his mother and protector and saddened that I wasn’t notified especially when I am out of town.”

Halle Bailey Calls Out DDG For Failing To Respect Her Boundaries Amid Postpartum Depression Battle

In another Tweet, Bailey referenced her battle with postpartum depression and noted how there are boundaries she’d hoped those around her would respect. Many fans agree that DDG should have gotten Bailey’s approval to bring their son on Cenat’s stream. Some, on the other hand, believe the situation was blown out of proportion. Now, amid all the chatter, Bailey has deactivated her X account. At the time of writing, it remains unclear whether she’s done with X for good, or simply wants a break.

Meek Mill Claims Voters Were “Brainwashed” During U.S. Election

Reactions following the U.S. election were varied. Some celebrated victory, others lamented defeat. Meek Mill, however, did neither. The rapper decided to hop on Twitter instead, and voice happiness over the fact that the election is over. Meek Mill had been vocal throughout the entire election season. He even dropped a song on November 3 called “WHO YOU VOTING FOR?.” Evidently, the “who” was not of importance to him. He’s just happy that the U.S. public is no longer, in his estimation “brainwashed.”

Meek Mill was downright giddy on November 5. “I’m glad the election over,” he tweeted. “The brainwash was turned up on max!.” He also reposted a tweet in which a photo of Kamala Harris was juxtaposed with a photo of a Simpsons episode in which a female president was depicted. The tweet claimed that this is the first time the show failed to predict a political event accurately, and it appears as though the rapper agreed. A few hours after Meek Mill criticized voters for their “brainwash” antics, he tweeted a reference to the 1999 film The Matrix. “They about to break the matrix lol,” he wrote, without specifying who “they” are supposed to be.

Meek Mill Previously Endorsed Kamala Harris In Song

Meek Mill’s political allegiance has been difficult to track. The rapper has said positive things about both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris over the course of the last year. He praised Donald Trump for somehow being able to win the election after two assassination attempts and several criminal charges. “Who is this guy trump fr,” he tweeted. “I know some wild guys but wtf lol just my thoughts!” Meek Mill also stated he would be interested in discussing policy with Kamala Harris, given her past as a prosecutor. “I would ask her three questions about black and brown men going to prison,” he asserted.

Despite claiming that he did not intend to endorse either candidate, Meek Mill seemingly endorsed Harris the day before the election. He did so on the aforementioned song, “WHO YOU VOTING FOR?.” He noted that he had friends who were Trump supporters, but couldn’t abide by the “venomous ways” in which he moved. “And I ain’t vote for Cam-a-la, I’m a probably vote Kamala,” he spit. “Somebody call her.” Meek is somebody that is prone to changing his mind, or making confusing public remarks. That said, his joy over the concluded election cycle seems genuine.

Azealia Banks Endorses “Stupid And Incoherent” Kamala Harris For President

Is there a more outspoken celebrity than Azealia Banks? She can make people like Kanye West seem well behaved. The rapper has proven to be a consistent source of scorn and praise for her bold social media statements. She will take anyone to task, no matter who they are or how protective their fanbase can be. Kamala Harris is no exception. Despite receiving endorsements from the likes of Beyonce, Eminem, and Rihanna, Harris has repeatedly fallen victim to the Azealia Banks buzzsaw. Which is why it was such an unexpected twist when the rapper announced she would be team Kamala.

Azealia Banks made her decision known on November 4. The rapper confirmed that she was voting against Donald Trump, but not because she was a fan of Harris. In fact, Banks saw fit to insult Harris a few times while explaining her reasoning. “For as stupid and incoherent Kamala Harris is,” she wrote on Twitter. “And as trash as [Tim] Walz is, and despite the fact that Kamala Harris is the only Democratic Nominee to not have actively campaigned in a Primary…” Not a ringing endorsement by any standard, and yet, Azealia Banks (kinda) landed the plane.

Azealia Banks Wants To Keep Elon Musk From Power

https://twitter.com/azealiaslacewig/status/1853537525211529540

The rapper’s reason for voting Harris/Walz is that she cannot stand Elon Musk. The Tesla founder and Twitter owner has become a key player in Trump’s campaign. Trump even claimed that he would make Musk the head of a government efficiency commission if elected. This is something Azealia Banks can’t abide by. “I really think keeping Elon Musk away from any type of political power… is tantamount to any issue on the table here,” she wrote. “You have to be a complete idiot to think that dirtbag cares about anyone or anything other than himself.”

Azealia Banks proceeded to list off all the other issues she had with the Trump campaign. It’s obvious that she has more negative things to say about him than she does positive things about Harris, but it still amounted to an endorsement. The irony is that Banks’ announcement comes a few days after she went in on Cardi B for endorsing Kamala Harris. Banks mocked Cardi’s appearance at a recent campaign rally and accused her of leaning on a “stupid Latina shtick.” Now, it appears, both rappers have wound up in the same place.

Offset Blasts “Disgusting” Fans Over Photoshopped Image Of Daughter

Offset and Cardi B’s daughter was the victim of a gruesome photoshop scandal on November 4. Social media users began sharing doctored images of the child having sex with Offset, which led Cardi B to go on a fiery rant. Understandably so. The rapper called fans out for their bizarre obsession and felt they had taken things too far. “That sh*t be pissing me the f*ck off,” she explained. “All because y’all in y’all feelings because I f*cking tweeted my kids are smart.” Hours later, Offset decided to say his peace.

The Migos rapper did not rant for as long as Cardi B, but he was similarly horrified. Offset made it clear that the people responsible for the photoshopped images were no fans of his. “You ppl are disgusting on here with my kids,” he tweeted. “Inappropriate post wtf do you get from doing that God gone get you!!!” Some fans took to the replies to put the blame on Cardi B for talking about other people’s children. A quick scroll underneath Offset’s original tweet shows various screenshots in which the “WAP” rapper said “f*ck your kids” to an IG user during a heated exchange.

Offset Told Guilty Parties That God Would Get Them

Insulting statements are not the same as photoshopped images, admittedly. Cardi B and Offset’s outrage over the images has also yielded sympathy from followers and parents. Offset has been vocal about how much his daughters mean to him, in particular. The Migos rapper told Good Morning America that he’s easier on his daughters than his sons. “For my girls, I’m a softy,” he noted. “For boys, I’m a disciplinarian, ’cause I know, like, boy, it’s gonna be tough for you, no matter if you got money.” Offset also featured his daughters on the cover to his 2019 album, Father of 4.

Offset and Cardi B have had some extraordinary differences over the last few months. The couple always had a rocky relationship, but the dirty laundry has been aired with surprising frequency in 2024. The duo went at each other via Instagram, and made grim accusations towards one another. They have, however, presented a unified front when it comes to their kids. When Child Protective Services was called on Cardi B in October, the rapper assured the fans that Offset was not to blame. “He a loser but he didn’t do that,” she said.

Travis Scott, Sexyy Red And More Celebrate Young Thug’s Freedom

It’s Halloween for most of the world, but it’s Young Thug’s day for hip hop fans. The rapper was set free on Thursday after a lengthy trial. He was given 15 years probation, and a host of conditions upon release, but he was released, and that’s what matters. The hip hip world showed their support for Young Thug all throughout his trial. Other rappers made it clear that they were desperate to see their peer released, so he could assume his legendary career. Now that it’s happened, the celebration has begun.

Sexyy Red, a rapper who was repeatedly cited Young Thug as her “twin,” took to Twitter to voice her happiness. “They let twin out,” she exclaimed. Jay Electronica took a wordier, Jay Electronica-esque approach in his tweet. He praised Allah and reminded Thugger to make the most of his second chance. “Praise be to Allah they let this man come home,” he wrote. “Be Great Slime.” DJ Mustard also got in on the celebration by noting that Halloween has been topped. “Thug free,” he tweeted out. “What a day!” NBA athlete James Harden voiced his support more subtly. He tweeted out a snake to represent the rapper’s “slime” aesthetic.

Travis Scott Called Young Thug His “Brudda”

The most notable show of love, however, came from Travis Scott. Thug and Travis Scott rose to fame around the same time. Thugger appeared on Scott’s breakout mixtape, Days Before Rodeo. He’s stellar on the track “Mamacita,” which gained renewed interest during his trial. The mixtape was uploaded to streaming, which exposed it to a brand new generation. “Mamacita” also featured an exemplary verse from Thug’s friend Rich Homie Quan, who died on September 5. Young Thug and the Astroworld superstar have a particularly strong bond.

Unsurprisingly, Travis Scott posted a photo alongside Thugger. He posted the photo on his Instagram Story with the caption: “My brudda otw home.” The man who narrated Travis Scott’s first album, Rodeo, also stepped in with words of support. T.I. posted his own photos of Thug on Twitter. “Welcome Home lil bruddah,” he wrote. “It’s been too long… Time to get back to it!!!” T.I. had previously gone on record to state that he would make sure Thug was taken care of when he got home. Thankfully, he’s home a lot sooner than anybody anticipated. Check out additional celeb posts below.

Halle Bailey Dresses Like Halle Berry’s James Bond Character For Halloween

Yes, Halle Bailey’s name was inspired by Halle Berry. The former’s parents considered naming her “Hailey,” but decided to change it to “Halle” as a tribute to the Oscar-winning actress. Bailey has had an impressive career over her own in the last decade, as evidenced by her leading role in the Little Mermaid remake. Halle Bailey decided to pay tribute to her near-namesake, however, this Halloween. She dressed like Berry’s character from the James Bond film Die Another Day, and the internet was impressed.

Die Another Day may not be one of the most acclaimed 007 films. In fact, the tepid critical response to the film led producers to give the MI6 agent a gritty reboot with Daniel Craig a few years later. That said, Halle Berry’s presence, and her orange swim suit, remains one of the film’s best known images. Halle Bailey went all out with the recreation. She donned Berry’s short hair, orange bikini, and even the knife and holster that the character wears in the film. Bailey has a knack for recreating iconic film characters, as evidenced by her decision to dress like Janet Jackson from Poetic Justice in 2023.

Halle Bailey Referred To Halle Berry As Her ‘Queen’

Interestingly enough, Halle Bailey wasn’t the only musician who decided to cosplay as Berry. Coi Leray and Tyla decided to pay tribute to the iconic actress by dressing up as characters from different films. Leray dressed up like Berry’s Catwoman, and Tyla decided to take a left turn by dressing up like Berry’s character from The Flintstones Movie. All three celebs earned praise from their fans, but it was the Halle Berry co-sign that made the biggest impact. She wrote that Bailey, Leray and Tyla “crushed it” above a Pop Crave tweet rounding up the different costumes.

It was Halle Bailey, however, who received individualized praise for her costume. The singer posted pics of her in character, and Halle Berry was effusive in her praise. “Awe …my girl did that,” Berry wrote in the comment section. “What a huge compliment! Love you angel.” Halle Bailey was awe struck by the praise, and returned the love. “My queen approves,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “My life is made.”

Roddy Ricch Announces Release Date For “The Navy Album”

Roddy Ricch exploded onto the scene in the late 2010s. The rapper scored a number one single with “The Box,” but has struggled to maintain this high standard. His second album, Live Life Fast, failed to generate any hits, and it’s been years since he was even featured on a notable single. Roddy Ricch is planning to make a comeback, however. The rapper confirmed that his new album, The Navy Album, is on the way. and he promises that it will keep the West Coast winning streak of 2024 going.

Tellingly, Roddy Ricch build up hype for The Navy Album by referencing another West Coast artist. Tyler, The Creator took over the music world when he dropped CHROMAKOPIA on Monday. Ricch showed love to Tyler, while at the same time claiming to be the next artist up. “CHROMAKOPIA,” he wrote. “Tyler, The Creator. West up, my turn!” A few hours later, Roddy Ricch confirmed that The Navy Blue was arriving this December. “The Navy Album,” he tweeted. “The 6th of December.” The rapper has been hinting at the album’s release for most of 2024. He even told Grunge Cake that it will signify a return to his roots.

Roddy Ricch Also Showed Love To Tyler, The Creator

“I feel like I’m just getting back to my roots of taking my time, being real lethal with my injection,” Ricch stated. “Just trying to really just give it everything I got and being vulnerable as I can to my fans, allowing them into my life.” Roddy Ricch likened The Navy Album to a film soundtrack, and promised that it will be an experience that his listeners will be able to apply to their own lives. “I just always be creating,” he said. “That’s just my safe haven, a way to express myself and keep myself fresh.”

Roddy Ricch has more in common with Tyler, The Creator than West Coast origins. Both were onstage during the now legendary “Pop Out” show on Juneteenth. They performed some of their biggest songs and voiced their support for Kendrick Lamar in the Drake battle. Ricch humbled himself as a performer in comparison to the likes of Tyler and Kendrick, but he insisted that his music connects with fans on an emotional level. “I just try to give it up my all every time,” he asserted. “And even in the hype moments, I try to give my all.” We can’t wait to hear this effort on December 6.

Tory Lanez’s Former Attorney Denies Allegation That She Has Roc Nation Ties

Tory Lanez is not slowing down. The rapper has decided to keep his legal battle alive by going after his former attorney. He filed an ethics complaint against Shawn Holley on October 28. TMZ reports that the rapper is going after Holley on the grounds that she allegedly has business ties to Roc Nation. He claims Holley was actually serving the best interest of Megan Thee Stallion’s label, and not his own, during his trial. Holley has responded to these allegations, via reporter Loren Lorosa.

Lorosa, a former TMZ producer, took to Twitter to share Holley’s response. The attorney made it clear that she is not concerned with Tory Lanez’s allegations. In fact, she refuted some of the points that the rapper highlighted in his complaint. For one, Holley confirms that she is a co-producer on the TV series Reasonable Doubt. She noted, however, that the show has nothing to do with the Roc Nation brand. It shares the name of an album by Roc Nation co-founder, JAY-Z, but the connections end there. “Roc Nation has nothing to do with the television show Reasonable Doubt, which I co-produce,” she noted.

Tory Lanez Filed An Ethics Complaint Against Holley

Furthermore, Shawn Holley noted that Tory Lanez has attempted a similar legal process in the past. She claimed that the rapper tried to level the same accusations at her a year ago, but they did not stick. “Mr. Peterson made these claims over a year ago to the State Bar,” she explained. “Which rejected them and promptly closed the matter.” To leave absolutely no room for misinterpretation, Holley again announced: “I have never had business ties to Roc Nation.”

Holley bumped heads with Tory Lanez during the latter’s trial. Legal Affairs and Trials obtained an email exchange between the attorney and the rapper in which she voiced resistance to a defense he wanted to pursue. It has now become known as the “Kelsey defense.” Holley did not think it would be effective, and promptly quit as Tory Lanez’s legal representation. She explained in the aforementioned email she didn’t think the “Kelsey defense” was a viable strategy. Given that Lanez was ultimately sentenced to a decade in prison (with a different attorney), the apprehension on Holley’s part makes sense.
