Playboi Carti Previews New Music At Wireless Festival, Spends Time With Fans

Playboi Carti is without a doubt one of hip-hop’s best performers of the moment, which he proved yet again with his Wireless Festival performance on Friday (July 7) in London. Sure, he might just scream his songs through, but you aren’t hearing that energy on any studio recording. Regardless, not only did his set contain some of his biggest hits, but he also previewed new music for the U.K. crowd. Moreover, an aerial shot of the concertgoers shows just how rowdy people were, and the same can be said for a recording of his rendition of the legendary Lil Uzi Vert collab “Shoota.” With that, the Atlanta artist really covered all the bases with his concert as fans beg for a new album soon.

As far as the teased unreleased track, it’s kind of hard to make out with this video. Still, it sounds exactly like what you’d expect from Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red era. It’s loud, aggressive, bass-heavy, guitar-led, and above all energizing, which is what made that 2020 album such a live hit. All that being said, Carti’s always one to switch things up from project to project, so who knows if this will be the same energy he brings to his next offering.

Furthermore, Playboi Carti seemed to hang out with a few fans after his show, as one social media clip shows. Nardwuar Lists Playboi Carti Among Dream Interviews

There are few interviewers in music more beloved than Nardwuar. He’s gone viral dozens of times for hilarious interview moments with rappers. Lil Uzi Vert, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, The Creator have all had their minds blown by the detailed research Nardwuar does before his interviews. This time around it was Nardwuar getting interviewed and he was asked about what his dream interviews would be. He lists three people in his answer starting with Barack Obama and Paul McCartney. Alongside those two legends, he completes his dream list with rapper Playboi Carti.

The statement comes just a few weeks after Carti “subbed” Nardwuar. After leaving his Summer Smash show last month, Carti was chased down the street by fans trying to get a glimpse of the rapper. But before he could even make it out a different fan tried to talk with him, Nardwuar. A video that went viral shows Carti in his car ignoring the interviewer’s questions while his security holds him back. In the wake of the clip, Carti realized just how beloved Nardwuar is online when fans bashed him for ignoring the loveable interviewer.

Nardwuar’s Dream Interviews

Of course, Playboi Carti isn’t the only rapper who’s been making headlines with Nardwuar recently. One of his most beloved interviews was when he sat down with Lil Uzi Vert in 2018 and the pair recently reunited. Firstly an adorable video hit the internet of the two of them embracing and being extremely happy to see each other. In a subsequently released video Lil Uzi invites Nardwuar over to their house and offers to teach him how to play Call Of Duty.

The hilarious and occasionally mysterious interviewer is loved by many rappers. He was at Summer Smash in the first place as a guest of rapper Ski Mask The Slump God. Fans lit up with cheers when they realized who was on stage with him. A subsequent video of the pair together on stage went viral in the days following. Playboi Carti’s Absence On Lil Uzi Vert’s “Pink Tape” Gets Fans Down Bad On Twitter

Pink Tape is finally here, and fan consensus indicates that Lil Uzi Vert did not disappoint with this long-awaited release. However, there is one aspect of the album that disappointed fans and has them once again clamoring for online: where in the world is Playboi Carti? In the lead up to this album, Uzi teased an appearance time and time again, whether when they spoke on having the features that everyone wants or expects or by shouting Carti out on social media and previewed tracks. Still, the tracklist finally arrived, and the Whole Lotta Red star was nowhere to be seen. That being said, we still got a taste of what almost happened between them.

Moreover, when Lil Uzi Vert’s YouTube page posted the track “Patience” with Don Toliver, it allegedly contained a version with Playboi Carti and not the officially released version. Though those responsible fixed that quick, fans still clamored for the song to appear on a deluxe version in the reply section. In addition, a collab track called “Rich A** Bastard” also surfaced online that they apparently scrapped for Pink Tape. As such, even though fans lost hope when they saw the tracklist, there’s still a chance another team-up is around the corner.

Twitter Reacts To Playboi Carti Not Being On Pink Tape

If you’re curious to hear what could’ve been (or still could be), one user replied to the tweet above with a link to the leak. Elsewhere on Twitter, fans lamented the lack of Playboi Carti on Pink Tape with reaction videos, GIFs, memes, and a whole lot more. “Surely yeat and playboi carti are hidden features on pink tape right??” one fan wrote. Their tweet contained a GIF that sums up exactly how many die-hards feel right now: Spongebob clutching his pencil nervously like someone dying of hunger staring at a hamburger.

Meanwhile, there are certainly other features on Pink Tape that stole the show. For example, JT and Nicki Minaj recently went back and forth on Twitter talking about the latter’s verse on “Endless Fashion.” Apparently Nicki handed her verse in quickly after a long day’s work, and it resulted in a lot of standout lines. Hopefully Carti’s working hard in the studio to get his next verse in for Uzi, too. Playboi Carti Was Chased By Fans On A Highway After Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash Festival

Playboi Carti collaborated with Madonna and The Weeknd on “Popular” for The Idol, and the events after Carti’s headlining Lyrical Lemonade’s 2023 Summer Smash sounds like a plot line extracted from the controversial HBO series.

Summer Smash was held over the weekend at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. Kid Cudi headlined on Friday night, June 23, while Future handled headliner duties on Saturday, June 24, and Carti brought the Cole Bennett-led event home on Sunday night, June 25. The final night was actually punctuated by Chicago’s very own Lil Durk, but some fans wanted more Playboi Carti.

Videos aggregated on Instagram and Twitter by Our Generation Music show an SUV carrying Carti speeding off from the venue, only to be chased by people on foot as it approached the highway. (Maybe they wanted to demand answers in person as to when his follow-up to Whole Lotta Red is coming.) Carti appeared to love the overflowing love, appearing with a smile from the sunroof.

According to setlist.fm, Carti’s 12-song Summer Smash set included a cover of Lil Yachty’s “Flex Up” and of Kanye West’s “Off The Grid” — Carti was a featured artist on both — before a three-song encore of “Teen X,” “New N3on,” and “Vamp Anthem.”

They shared what could be the album’s cover in an Instagram story last night, leaving fans to speculate. The artist additionally shared some photos of Playboi Carti and Ken Carson, leading viewers to think that they could be featured on the highly-anticipated upcoming LP.

Lil Uzi Vert recently claimed that fans can expect to hear The Pink Tape sometime later this month. Some speculate that it could arrive on June 23, National Pink Day. The artist says, “I can’t hold off no more,” adding that they’ll go to the greatest of lengths to provide fans with the LP. “You know me, I’m crazy,” they said, “Even if I have to drop it myself, it’s coming out at the end of the month.” Although no official release date has been confirmed, Lil Uzi Vert’s fans are eagerly awaiting their latest offering.

DJ Akademiks also recently revealed that Travis Scott is set to be featured on The Pink Tape, describing the collaboration as “fire.” They’re keeping the project under wraps for now, however, by wearing a USB around their neck.

Lil Uzi Vert has also shared that they were sober throughout the recording process of the new album.  “It was challenging at first. But then after probably after a month, I got used to it,” Uzi told TMZ. “I thought that my creative process wasn’t going to be the same because I wasn’t on drugs no more. It was the same. Even better. Because I could think more clear and I could actually, like, instead of my words slurring, which is kinda of cool, everything made sense. I didn’t just make random music. How can I say? I didn’t play off the beat. I actually made song with topics this time.”

The Australian artist has been taking a break from flaunting her figure to, instead, debate with some Twitter trolls about the dangers of drag queens. It all began when Azalea announced she would be taking a break from Elon Musk’s app due to the incessant negativity, homophobia, and criticism she’s been seeing.

“Nah Iggy, you wrong,” one person responded to the “Work” rapper’s rant on Tuesday (June 13). “People really aren’t homophobic, we are in 2023. It started becoming an issue when they started trying to indoctrinate kids. You have a son of your own, would you be ok with his school [having] drag shows? Or books teaching him to give BJs?” they asked Azalea. Minutes later she responded, making it clear she would be more than happy to bring her and Playboi Carti’s 3-year-old son, Onyx, along with her to watch drag artists perform.

Fans of Playboi Carti and YoungBoy Never Broke Again are convinced that the two controversial rappers are working on a joint album. The speculation was prompted by Carti making an unexpected return to social media with an Instagram Story post with a photo of YoungBoy wearing an inverted cross pendant on his chain. Sacrilegious symbolism is kind of Carti’s thing, so naturally fans wondered whether YoungBoy rocking the Atlanta genre-bender’s signature iconography — and Carti posting it — was a sign.

Even more evidence of an incoming collaboration appeared on the Instagram profile @jewelryunlimited, where celebrity jeweler Wafi amin Lalani noted the chain and pendant were a gift from Carti to YoungBoy, “ahead of their new collab album.”

The duo had never previously collaborated but both have proven to be very popular among younger hip-hop fans despite aggressive opposition from traditionalists and less-than-sterling histories with women. If the rumor does turn out to be true, it’ll mean that Carti is extra busy working on collaborative projects this year; in March, Lil Uzi Vert teased that they and Carti were also working on a collab project and “about to take over the world.”

Carti is also billed to appear at Rolling Loud Miami and Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash this year, so he’s got a pretty full schedule for 2023.
