Lil Yachty Responds To Backlash Over Saying Hip-Hop Is In A “Terrible Place”

Lil Yachty has responded to the backlash to his recent comments on the state of hip-hop. After arguing that the genre is in a “terrible place,” Yachty went back and forth with users on social media over the topic on Saturday. The posts began with one fan accusing Yachty of copying Earl Sweatshirt.

“U just signed 4 female veezes and u imitate earl when he raps over alchemists beats dude,” they wrote to Yachty, who replied: “I signed one girl. And I don’t imitate earl… u n****s just be talkin bro.. u n****s who hide behind pop culture pictures just be sayin anything for likes and retweet’s.. people act like the world is goin to shit when a n***a gives an opinion.” When another user tried to promote their own music, Yachty replied: “And this sh*t suck n***a, like bra ur never gonna make it.”

As for Yachty’s original opinion, he spoke at Rolling Stone‘s Musicians on Musicians event in Brooklyn, New York on Friday. “Hip-hop is in a terrible place,” Yachty said, as noted by Complex. “The state of hip-hop right now is a lot of imitation. It’s a lot of quick, low-quality music being put out.” He continued: “It’s a lot less risk-taking, it’s a lot less originality. People are too safe now. Everyone is so safe. I rather take the risk than take the L.”

Lil Yachty Responds To Backlash From Fans

Even despite his comments, he clarified that not everything coming out is bad. In particular, he praised JID, saying he’s “never heard a bad verse from JID ever.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Lil Yachty on HotNewHipHop.

Khia Charges Fans For Selfies, Once Called Woman “Broke” For Not Paying $10

Amid her social media spat with Sexyy Red, some have suggested that 46-year-old Khia is navigating through a time of financial struggle. The rap diva obviously doesn’t release music in the same capacity as she used to, and when she is in the news, it’s typically for painting other artists in an unflattering light. Still, Khia has a trick or two up her sleeve when it comes to securing the bag. However, she has a history of lashing out at anyone refusing to pay up for her selfie-taking services.

‘Oh y’all didn’t know Khia charge for pics?” one Twitter user earlier this week as the “My Neck My Back” hitmaker was trending online. “That’s been a known thing in Atlanta for a long time. That’s why you never see fan photos 😂😂,” the OP added. In response to this, another user shared their personal experience with having refused Khia’s payment request. “She tried to charge me $10 for this gas station selfie in Atlanta,” they recalled on the second slide of the post below.

“I was like, ‘No ma’am.’ Then she cursed me out, called me broke, and tossed her new mixtape at me,” the Twitter user laughed. To make matters even funnier, Khia’s getaway vehicle was “a minivan with her face on it.” After reading the story, one person couldn’t help but quip, “Y’all h*ez love lying for likes she been got out that VAN😂.”

Ever since she made the bold decision to talk trash about Sexyy Red, Khia has been in the headlines non-stop. For the most part, it’s her drama with the St. Louis native that’s been keeping us interested, as both women have had plenty of vicious insults lined up for each other. Catch up on the latest on that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Rick Ross Picks JAY-Z Dinner Over $500,000

Rick Ross says that he’d take a dinner with JAY-Z over $500,000 and explained his reasoning on social media. In doing so, he recalled a lunch meeting he had with the legendary rapper back in 2008. The comments come on the heels of JAY-Z finally weighing in on the age-old debate, telling fans taking the money is a smarter decision.

“I’ma take the dinner and I’ma tell you why. In ’08, before I turned in my second album, I had a meeting with Hov. We went to lunch,” he began, before referencing a restaurant in Manhattan. “He said ‘Rozay, versus writing to every beat you like, write to every record you can make work.’ He told me a quick story about ‘Big Pimpin’. I said, ‘Okay, bet.’ So, I went from writing one record to every 80 beats I liked, to writing 40 records outta every 80 beats I could make work.”

As for JAY-Z’s opinion on the hypothetical, he addressed it in a recent interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings. “You gotta take the money,” JAY-Z said. “You got all that in the music for $10.99 — that’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal. Take the $500,000, go buy some albums, and listen to the albums. It’s all there.”

Rick Ross Weighs In On Dinner With JAY-Z Versus $500k Debate

He continued: “If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there. Everything I said was going to happen happened, everything I said I wanted to do I’ve done. There’s the blueprint — literally, the blueprint to me and my life and my journey is there already.” Check out Rick Ross’ position on the debate above.

SZA Reveals She Has Let Fans Sleep Over At Her House

SZA is someone who has been having an exceptional year. Back in 2022, she dropped off S.O.S. This turned out to be a huge return to music, and fans adored it. Overall, some felt it was even better than CTRL, an album that was almost impossible to top. At this point, SZA is a megastar and nothing can stop her. From features on Utopia to For All The Dogs, it is clear that she is firmly at the top of the r&b world right now.

Unfortunately, the artist hasn’t always been on top as it pertains to the spaces she has operated in. For instance, when the artist was in elementary and middle school, she faced some intense bullying. According to AllHipHop, this subsequently led SZA down a path toward empathy. She has a ton of empathy for her fans, and it is ultimately why she goes out of her way to connect with them. “I’m never off the clock for my fans, because I love that sh*t,” she explained. “They’re my family, and they’re my people. I know what it’s like to feel small or like somebody doesn’t care, because that’s who I was my whole life.”

SZA subsequently went on to say that she allows some fans to come over to her house. Overall, she is actually friends with some of these supporters, and she wants to make sure they feel included in her circle. “In middle school, elementary school, I wasn’t popular. So I try to make sure n****s know ‘I hear you, I see you. I have time to stop for you. Yes, we can smoke together, you can come backstage. You can come to my house if you want,’” she said. “Hella fans have spent the night with me and been to my house many times.”

While some may find this odd, it showcases just how much the artist loves her fans. Let us know what you think about this connection, in the comments section below. Skilla Baby Gets Into Brawl With Fans While Posing For Pictures

Skilla Baby may have cleaned up some beef between Detroit rappers before, but it looks like there’s still animosity he has to deal with. Moreover, he got into a brawl with a couple of fans who were taking pictures with him and hanging out. Suddenly, the rapper swung at one person in front of him, yet it’s unclear from video footage what they spoke about or what prompted the attack. Later, others started to jump on him as well, and the whole thing devolved into a messy scuffle with a lot of recording cameras and bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Furthermore, it’s impossible to tell what really caused all of this, and whether Skilla Baby is at fault or had a justified reason to defend himself. Either way, it certainly wasn’t pretty, so viewer discretion is advised for the clip below if you’re not a fan of confrontations. Fortunately, though, it looks like this didn’t really result in any serious injuries, harm, or any sort of legal ramifications. Also, the location it occurred at is a bit bizarre. It seems like an empty stadium, so perhaps this was before or after a performance or just an odd spot for these people to link up.

Skilla Baby Brawls At Fan Meet-Up: Watch

Regardless, the “Bae” MC had a pretty heated situation to deal with, about which we might not get any more elaboration. Still, at least things didn’t turn even nastier. If so, we could’ve expected Skilla Baby to ease the tensions if necessary, as we know that he has a knack for that within the Michigan scene. Sada Baby and Tee Grizzley seemingly ended their years-long beef, and announced as such via an Instagram post on Skilla’s page.

As such, both feuding artists’ frequent collaborator on both ends ended up being a necessary link. That’s a rare sight to see within hip-hop, and one that hopefully becomes more common with time. Even with this new scuffle in mind, it’s heartening to know that Skilla’s got some conflict resolution skills in the big-picture sense. Sexyy Red Roasts Fans’ “Lowercase” Dreads

Recently, Sexyy Red dropped off her new track, “Shake Yo Dreads.” The release came after a bit of teasing on social media, which certainly managed to build anticipation. As expected, the track has prompted an influx of fans sending photos of their own dreads to the “Pound Town” performer. Unfortunately, however, it doesn’t look like she’s impressed with what she’s been seeing.

“Some of dem dreads y’all sendin lowercase,” she wrote on Twitter today. Sexyy Red’s also been sharing a variety of memes related to her disappointment. At this point, it’s become a trend for users to send objectively strange dreads to the hitmaker as a joke. One fan responded to her aforementioned Tweet, telling her, “Leave me alone these are braids I just wanted to feel apart.”

Sexyy Red Bombarded With Dreads

Though thirsty fans may think their unfortunate dreads are the reason Sexyy’s not interested, it might actually be because she’s got a new man. Earlier this week, the “SkeeYee” rapper shared a sweet photo of her and a mystery man cuddled up in bed together, prompting fans to speculate. “I like fckin wit drillaz… dread head killaz,” she captioned the post. Due the man’s ankle monitor, many thought it could be the father of her child. Some even suspected it was Boosie Badazz. They were proven wrong later in the day, however, when the man himself took to social media for a reveal.

Atlanta rapper WuDeuce went live on Instagram yesterday, turning his camera to face a sleeping Sexyy Red. He smoked as the performer rested, telling his fans “I put sh*t down up.” Some claim that he shouldn’t have exposed their relationship like that, and it’s unclear whether or not she wanted it to be public. Regardless, it’s now obvious whose dreads she was actually rapping about on her new track. What do you think of Sexyy Red dissing her fans’ dreads? Are you enjoying her new song? This wasn’t the only touching rendition of “All My Life” fans have heard as of late, however. Earlier this week, Durk was joined by his collaborator J. Cole onstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, where they also performed the track live together for the first time ever. Obviously, fans went wild for the moving song, and were met with equal enthusiasm from the artists onstage.

Durk’s visit to the community center was far from his first charitable effort. Last month, it was reported that the rapper’s nonprofit, Neighborhood Heroes, would be providing children with financial literacy classes. He also popped into one of the classes, surprising fans and taking photos. The goal of the nonprofit is to “empower and collaborate with everyday Heroes who are taking the lead to make positive change in the lives of those within under-resourced neighborhoods across the nation.” What do you think of Lil Durk visiting the community center to motivate kids?
