Summer Walker Confirms SZA, Lil Durk, And Ari Lennox Will Appear On Her Next Album

At the end of 2019, Summer Walker released her debut album, Over It, which broke the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album by a female artist. It also gave the singer her highest-charting release, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Now Walker is wrapping up work on her sophomore album, and though a title or release date have not yet been shared, she recently revealed some of the artists that will appear on it.

In a post to her Instagram Story, Walker revealed that SZA, Lil Durk, and Ari Lennox are among the acts that are involved. “Riding around listening to this album, can’t choose which is my favorite song… it’s between durk sza and ari ft,” the singer wrote in the post before adding, “they all so good.”

It would be the first time that Walker has collaborated with any of the aforementioned artists. But if her past work proves anything, it’s that she can create excellent chemistry with various artists. Over It featured excellent collaborations with Bryson Tiller, Usher, Jhene Aiko, 6lack, PartyNextDoor, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Drake.

Lil Durk Reveals His Next Major Life Goal

Lil Durk Nearly Pulled A 50 Cent With His First Pitch At White Sox-Cubs

Being invited to throw out the first pitch before an MLB game is a cool honor, but it also can be a nerve-wracking experience if you don’t have a lot of baseball experience. It seems simple enough: throw the ball 55 or so feet from in front of the mound and get it over the plate, but those that haven’t thrown a ball in awhile come to learn the hard way that it’s very different from their few warmup tosses in the tunnel before going out there.

Really bad first pitches aren’t just embarrassing, but can become a lasting part of someone’s legacy. 50 Cent is the best example of that and still has the first pitch to which all bad first pitches are compared to, as he fired a ball a good 20 feet wide of the plate. He’s far from the only star of the sports or entertainment world to have a dreadful first pitch experience, but his is the lasting example of a disaster.

On Sunday, we got another entry into the bad first pitch category from a rapper, as Lil Durk threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field before Cubs-White Sox and had the poor Cubs mascot diving in vain for a ball that bounced outside the batter’s box.

The good news for Lil Durk is that he’s focusing on the positives of the love he got, not the jokes from Twitter.

It’s not quite 50 Cent, who barely threw it into the dirt area around home plate, but it is a pretty terrible effort. I’m sure Lil Durk hasn’t exactly spent a lot of time throwing baseballs recently, but it should serve as a reminder to managers everywhere that if your client isn’t someone that throws a ball often, there’s no shame in turning down a first pitch opp to keep them from going viral.

Lil Durk Promises To No Longer Mention Dead Rappers In His Songs

Lil Durk has faced a lot of turmoil in his career, especially in recent months. Last November, the Chicago native suffered the loss of rapper and close friend King Von who he affectionately referred to as “twin.” Months later, death would once again affect the rapper as his brother, DThang, was shot and killed outside a club in their hometown. While Durk was not directly involved in these situations, the rapper is taking steps to avoid conflict in the future as a result of his music.

The rapper took to Twitter to share an announcement with fans on Thursday.

“I’m not mentioning the dead in my songs no more or performing songs with they name in it,” he wrote before signing off on the message as Big Smurk. It arrives two days after Durk shared a couple of tweets that reflected on the people he recently lost in his life. “Why every time somebody die they love you but when you here they don’t care …… love me now not later,” he wrote in the first post. In a second tweet, he added, “Von left us Dthang left us and I was lost.”

His messages come after Durk and his girlfriend, India Cox, reportedly exchanged gunfire with an unspecified amount of individuals who broke into their Atlanta home. While Durk and Cox were listed as victims on a police report for the incident, neither were injured in the matter.
