2023 Oscar Nominations Include Rihanna & Tems’ Work On “Lift Me Up”

Following yesterday’s (January 23) hilarious Razzie Award nominations announcement comes this roster of potential winners for the upcoming 95th Academy Awards. Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams had the honour of announcing the lengthy list his morning, and it looks like plenty of our favourites could be taking home trophies.

Among them is Rihanna, whose most recent musical releases appeared in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Specifically, her work on “Lift Me Up” with Tems and Ryan Coogler earned her her first potential Oscars win.

“Look, Rihanna has given us a whole career and a whole catalog of music,” the songwriter said at the time. “And now she’s given us makeup and clothing, and I think the world would understand if she hung up her mic. I completely understand because I love her music so much, but I feel like she’s given all that you could ask for. But the truth is we were looking for a great artist who could tell the story of the film, embrace the themes of the film, and present them to the audience in a different packaging.”

He went on, “It was really the trailer, I think, when [Rihanna] saw the performances that everybody was putting down. That was what kind of put her over the edge and [made her] say, ‘Hey, I want to see this film. I want to see if I can figure this out.’ …But the truth is, once she played us the record, she said straight up, ‘I did this for Chad.’” 

As PEOPLE reports, the CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts, Bill Kramer, previously confirmed that all 23 categories will be announced during the live show. In the past, eight awards were cut due to time constraints and given out ahead of the ceremony, with pre-recorded acceptance speeches making it into the broadcast.

Jimmy Kimmel will be on hosting duty for the main event after successful stints in 2017 and 2018. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 12 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

Of course, last year’s Academy Awards saw the unforgettable moment when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Due to the chaos that was caused, it’s unlikely we’ll see similar shenanigans play out this time.

Chrisean Rock Claims To Have Had Fertility Issues Due To Past Abortions With Blueface

Recent antics between Blueface and Chrisean Rock have some fans begging for the problematic pair to call it quits for good. As the 26-year-old was celebrating his birthday this past weekend it certainly seemed that way. However, his on-again-off-again lover came to social media with news of a pregnancy and her plans to keep it.

In the past, the reality stars conceived multiple babies. Ultimately, though, the Baltimore native opted to have three abortions. At the time, she didn’t feel financially or mentally ready for one of life’s biggest responsibilities. Now that she’s “got [her] own money” and is something of a household name in the industry, Rock is ready to try her hand at motherhood – with or without her man.

Initially, Blueface promptly denied paternity on social media. “Me [and] Rock are officially done. It’s strictly business, I tried it [and] clearly it wasn’t giving. Before she announces… She’s pregnant with somebody else’s child, not mine,” he wrote at the time. Afterward, the “Thotiana” artist alleged that the 22-year-old “has had encounters with 10 different men in the last year.”

The notoriously toxic pair publicly went back and forth for some time. Afterward, a video of Chrisean presenting the birthday boy with a custom cake (which he didn’t hesitate to aggressively stab) later surfaced online.

Friday (January 20) night’s party is when things got really out of hand. In the early hours of the next morning, Rock randomly pulled up at the function following her and Blueface’s online beef. She wound up being knocked to the ground while fighting two other women. Ultimately, she left in a separate car from her Zeus network co-star.

Presently, the nature of the entertainer’s relationship is more confusing than ever. On Monday (January 23), the Baddies cast member hopped on Instagram Live. She and a female friend chatted as she got a few things off her chest.

“It was a point when I wasn’t getting pregnant ‘cuz of how many kids I was killing,” Rock said, explicitly referring to her past abortions. “I kept getting pregnant and I kept aborting or I would take a Plan B. It was more that I didn’t do nothing, and I’m like, ‘Watch me get pregnant.’”

Apparently, the fact that she didn’t end up with child again was concerning to the young woman. “I went to the doctor and she’s like ‘You’re not fertile, so you gotta calm down with the abortions or you will not be able to have a baby.”

“I remember just praying one day, ‘Hey God, just know this time if you send me a blessing from heaven I’m gonna keep it,” Rock revealed. “And then, through the darkest time of my relationship or career, I got pregnant, and I’m not scared! I have my own money, my own name. I’m good, for real.”

Despite Chrisean’s comments about abortion and fertility, it’s worth noting that the NHS reports that, “having an abortion will not usually affect your chances of becoming pregnant and having normal pregnancies in the future. It may slightly increase the risk of the baby being born early in future pregnancies.”

Outside of her surprise pregnancy, the internet has also had a lot to say about the latest episode of Crazy In Love. If you didn’t tune in, the camera followed her as she sat down with Dr. Ish. The two discussed her traumatic childhood and subsequent toxic relationship with Blueface.

India Royale Shuts Down Pregnancy Rumors

India Royale just shut down pregnancy rumors via her social media apps after they swirled around the Internet. Moreover, the recently single influencer showed off her slim physique in a short Instagram live clip. After fans spotted her wearing a loose-fitted shirt, many thought that she was expecting.

“No baby, guys,” she said on her very brief Instagram live session while displaying her stomach. “Tummy on flat-flat.” Still, it’s been relatively quiet on the news end for the 27-year-old since her split from Lil Durk. With that in mind, people might just be looking for signs wherever they can find them. Regardless, many in the comments section of The Shade Room‘s report post made some funny observations about the situation.

“Being a celebrity is a lot because why are you taking pictures of me at McDonald’s and calling me pregnant ,” one user commented. Another wrote, “McDonald’s equals pregnancy? I’m confused,” referring to where fans spotted the loose shirt.

Moreover, a few users felt the need to bring up her ex, The Voice. Of course, it’s unclear who would’ve fathered this mystery baby, but people had their ideas. “Durk spreaded that rumor,” someone commented with a slew of laughing emojis. However, some were a little less charmed by the rumors. “The fact the women feel the need to prove to strangers that they’re not pregnant is sad, stay out ppls business,” a user added.

Furthermore, rumors swirled around Royale’s baby-carrying status for years. In fact, she even acknowledged her comically long history of dealing with hearsay in a recent tweet.

“Year 4 of me being pregnant,” she wrote. “Where the babies going?”

Meanwhile, life seems to be going great for the social media darling since her breakup with Durkio. While they still connect for family events and important quality time, she’s well on her own way.

Finally, the blue water road vocalist unveiled her new partner for the world to meet at the end of last month. The same interview found the mother of one discussing not dating fans, sucking toes, and visiting strip clubs. “Me and the strippers have an interesting relationship,” they admitted.

“They want to talk about zodiac signs, and what my music did for them, and moments when they grew up with me, while they’re throwing ass at me. It’s a little bit of cognitive dissonance, because I’m like, super gay, and I’m like ‘Wow, that ass,’ but also, I’m so glad that I touched your heart at some point with my love songs.”

Her relationships are certainly a hot topic of conversation, but recently, Kehlani has been pouring some extra energy into self-love. Over the past few months, she’s been consistently hitting the gym, and the results clearly speak for themselves.

Andrew Tate Details Prison Conditions: “Cockroaches, Lice, & Bedbugs”

He’s currently incarcerated alongside his brother Tristan, but that hasn’t stopped Andrew Tate from communicating with the masses. The controversial social media influencer is accused of running an organized crime ring related to human trafficking. Tate was arrested at his home in Romania after detectives claimed six women were being held against their will and forced to partake in pornographic videos.

The brothers have denied the accusations as the investigation presses forward. Additionally, millions in cars, cash, and jewelry were seized from their property. Andrew has reportedly sent a letter to his dedicated fanbase.

In the message, Tate comments on his living conditions, noting that his prison cell is “bugged.” The New York Post also shared excerpts of Tate’s email.

“They are trying to break me. Thrown inside a cell without light,” he further wrote. “Cockroaches, lice, and bed bugs are my only friends at night.”

“When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful,” the self-proclaimed misogynist also said.

Despite the controversy, Tate’s followers have stood by his side. This includes a security guard who worked for the controversial brothers. The guard called trafficking accusers “young and stupid” while telling reporters he never witnessed anyone being held hostage.

Monterey Park Mass Shooting Leaves 12 Dead, Including Gunman: Details

On the 23rd day of 2023, the United States has already encountered at least 36 mass shootings, CNN reports via Gun Violence Archive. The latest of these tragedies unfolded in Monterey Park, California. Since this weekend, 11 victims have now tragically lost their lives at the hands of a 72-year-old gunman.

On Saturday (January 21) evening, Huu Can Tran opened fire at a local dance studio. At the time, the Asian American community was celebrating Lunar New Year. The venue was full of positive energy and excitement. Unfortunately, the cheer didn’t last long as the attack began shortly after 10 PM that night.

Officers responded to the scene around 10:22 PM where they witnessed people “pouring out of the location, screaming.” A group of people are said to have been wrestling with the elderly Asian male to get his weapon. 10 victims were pronounced dead at the scene. At least 10 others were “transported to numerous local hospitals and are listed in various conditions from stable to critical,” LAPD County Sheriff Captain Andrew Meyer told the media.

The coroner has been hard at work identifying those left dead after the senseless violence. Thus far, two women in their 60s – My Nhan and Lilan Li – are known to have died. The others who died at the studio over the weekend consist of three women and five men. None of them were younger than 50.

On Monday (January 23), one of those who was in the hospital for emergency care lost their life. “Our heroic staff at LAC+USC Medical Center have worked tirelessly to care for the four victims entrusted to our care,” the hospital shared in a statement.

“Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we are saddened to share that one of the victims has succumbed to their extensive injuries. We want to express our deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones.”

Other recent updates from CNN discuss the ongoing police investigation. Their primary focus at this time is finding a possible motive for the crime by searching Tran’s house. On Sunday morning, officers were trailing the supposed gunman after the shooting. As they exited the patrol car to approach his van, they heard a gunshot from inside.

When SWAT teams arrived on site, they found the killer dead after taking his own life. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities uncovered “several pieces of evidence” linking him to the dance studio he targeted, as well as a handgun.

Tran was apparently a regular patron of the site where he went through with his deadly antics. In fact, his ex-wife says they met there about two decades ago while he was giving informal lessons. At the time, he offered her free classes, and they married soon after.

A vigil for the victims will happen on Tuesday (January 24) at 5:30 PM.

As we wait for the trial to unfold in the summer, it was revealed earlier this month that the 28-year-old allegedly posted menacing raps on a SoundCloud page.

Maya Jama Returning Ex Ben Simmons’ $1M Engagement Ring After Athlete Sends Legal Demand

Just like the rest of us, celebrities often experience the pain of heartbreak within their romantic relationships. Unfortunately for them, the drama is played out for the entire world to see – and comment on. Most recently, formerly engaged couple Maya Jama and Ben Simmons have been the talk of the town. This is thanks to the astounding $1M engagement ring he surprised her with in December of 2021.

At the time, the pair seemed happier than ever together. The NBA player popped the question to his partner after a seven-month whirlwind love story. By September 2022, however, they called it quits.

“It’s been a difficult time for them. While they both care for each other so much, they truly gave it their all and realize that they just come from two different worlds. They now understand they don’t have the time they thought to dedicate to this relationship,” a source dished to the New York Post last fall.

Additionally, we hear that things between Simmons and Jama came to an end on good terms. Interestingly, the latest reports infer that might not still be the case. A story from The Sun claims that the athlete sent the Love Island host a legal letter demanding that she return the costly ring he proposed with.

“Given Ben has never, until now, asked for the ring back, you can appreciate the letter came somewhat as a surprise to Maya,” an insider tells the outlet. As for the other side of the story, “Ben was in shock when she left and didn’t give him the ring back.”

“He was madly in love with her. [He] thought it was forever so was really pissed she didn’t give it back. It cost around $1 million and they were engaged less than a year.”

A rep for Jama spoke with Daily Mail about the ongoing debacle. “Maya received a request from Ben’s representatives on Friday afternoon. It asked her to return the engagement ring that he gave her as a gift last year,” they explained.

“This was the first time that she has been asked by Ben to return it. For the avoidance of any doubt, she has never refused to return it.” The source also notes that the European entertainer is “making arrangements to return the ring to Ben and wishes him all the best.”

Aside from her high-profile stint with Simmons, Jama has also been in a relationship with British rapper Stormzy. In November of last year, he opened up about their past breakup, admitting that he “was a boy” when all the drama unfolded.

Chrisean Rock’s Therapy Session Finds Her Getting Real About Childhood Trauma

Chrisean Rock’s tumultuous relationship with Blueface is sheer entertainment for some, but incredibly painful to watch for others. The duo is undeniably talented at making money. However, they also have a history of physical violence within their union, and with outsiders.

The first few episodes of their Crazy In Love series on Zeus covered plenty of these antics. More recently, though, the couple has been trying out healing tactics, such as therapy, on camera.

While Rock was initially resistant to the idea of seeking mental health help, she eventually sat down with Dr. Ish to dive into her toxic relationship and traumatic childhood.

As we previously reported, while discussing things with Blueface, the 22-year-old admitted to engaging in “flip outs” when a perceived threat appears to target their rocky coupledom. “I might do certain things to get his attention, but that’s only because I want it my way,” she shared with her therapist.

Elsewhere in the same conversation, Rock revealed that growing up around her abusive father was a terrifying experience for her. According to the reality starlet, the family patriarch would lay hands on her mother, sisters, and Chrisean. “My mother, his go to was to tie her up and beat her,” the Baltimore native recalled.

“He would line all my sisters up out back against the wall. He would put me against the wall – and I ain’t do nothing – with them,” she went on, getting emotional. “Like, I’m young as f*ck, I don’t know what’s going on… He would make sure he would slap one on each cheek.”

Afterward, Dr. Ish asked the entertainer if she struggles with empty feelings inside. To this, she said that there are days when she feels the need to sleep in because “it hurts so much [she doesn’t] want to move.”

In other news, Chrisean certainly made a splash at this past weekend’s Baddies West premiere. While she donned a red carpet-ready look for the event, that didn’t stop her from throwing hands at her former stylist.

Nia Long’s recent heartbreak isn’t stopping her from living her best life. In the latter half of 2022, the 52-year-old uncovered the truth about her ex-fiancé, Ime Udoka’s infidelities in their relationship. Much to the pleasure of several famous figures, she left the basketball coach behind in wake of all the drama.

Since then, a number of suitors have tried shooting their shot. Back in October, Cam’ron made it known that he was throwing his hat in the ring with a flirtatious DM. It subsequently appeared on his own feed after failing to attract a response.

“Hey stink,” the Dipset rapper wrote at the time. “I  was giving you some time to yourself till I reached out. Your perseverance as a strong Black woman through this turbulent time has been something to behold. You shouldn’t be taken advantage of and exploited as you did nothing to deserve this. Especially all over these sports networks. You’re bigger and better [than] that.”

While nothing seems to have transpired from the New Yorker’s attempt at finding love, Long has since been spotted with several different men. Firstly, she and Omarion made headlines at the premiere of her latest film. The B2K alum shared a video of him and the black-haired beauty on the red carpet. In it, she grabs his hand, leaving him obviously blushing and smiling.

Despite the internet’s immediate speculation, she was quick to clarify that she’s “single AF” for the time being.

Long’s next big stop came after a flight to Dubai to watch Beyoncé’s extravagant return to the stage. The event was undeniably star-studded, with Chloe and Halle Bailey, DDG, and Kendall Jenner all making the trip to see the show.

Another famous face in attendance was 106 & Park‘s Terrence J, who was seen having a laugh with the often-rapped-about starlet over the weekend. In a circulating video, she giggles away while the actor helps her out of a luxury car.

Of course, the clips have caused some to tweet about Long’s ex, joking that he has to watch her virally get her lick back without being able to do anything about it.

Aside from her recent romance rumours, Nia Long has also been in the headlines lately for her work in Netflix’s You People. She stars in the film alongside Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, and Lauren London. Within the plot, the latter two try to navigate a relationship despite their family’s distinct cultural differences.

North West Joins Ye & Bianca Censori For Nobu Dinner Date

In this day and age, blended families are becoming increasingly common. Some former couples know how to make co-parenting look like a breeze. Of course, others are still mastering the art of raising children with the person who broke their heart. One set of exes, in particular, who have stepped up their game is Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The former was dating Pete Davidson following her and the rapper’s tumultuous split. Her ex didn’t hesitate to put her on blast for allowing the comedian to spend time with their four young children. However, the socialite has maintained a positive attitude through Ye’s various relationships. She’s even told the media that she’s happy to see his partners meeting their kids if things progress to that level.

It’s no secret that the 45-year-old is protective of his offspring. This likely explains why many of his 2022 flings didn’t make the family cut. Now that he’s once again a married man, though, it looks like West is ready for the kids to meet their new stepmom.

According to Daily Mail, the Yeezy founder stepped out on Sunday (January 22) for a dinner date at Nobu. His date was Censori, whose long, dark locks were cut off in favour of a platinum blonde short cut. His eldest daughter, North West, also came with them. Videos show the 27-year-old and her man waiting for the TikTok starlet to arrive alongside her security team and a friend.

Everyone in attendance looked as stylish as expected. Ye donned black cargo pants, a green jacket, and his infamous boots. The architect layered up to beat the cool weather in an oversized leather jacket, black tights, and a maroon purse. Arguably the best part of her look was her white fur-clad over-the-knee boots.

It remains unclear if this was North and Censori’s first time crossing paths, or if she and the West children have been getting to know each other for some time now.

Previously the “Flashing Lights” hitmaker was planning to fly to Australia to meet his new in-laws. Seeing as they were dining on the west coast last night, though, it looks as though the flight down under will be saved for a later date.

Elsewhere in the news, this past weekend Azealia Banks didn’t hold back when publicly sharing her thoughts about Ye. Specifically, the “212” hitmaker ranted about the Atlanta-born artist’s “abusive” abortion story. As you may recall, it was about North and came out during his past presidential run.
