Azealia Banks Will Take A Break From Delivering Controversial Commentary Online To Tour Across The UK And US

These days, it seems like Azealia Banks is more widely recognized for her colorful commentary rather than her first literary career—writing tracks. The “Chasing Time” rapper has taken digs at fellow musicians, Matty Healy, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Cardi B, Troye Sivan, Teyana Taylor, Kanye West (Ye), Sia, and Nicki Minaj to name a few.

But come this fall, Azealia Banks will take a temporary break from online trolling to knock out a list of tour dates across the UK and US. Starting in September, Azealia Banks is set to travel through Britain for several shows at venues such as the O2 Academy Brixton, O2 Academy Glasgow, Stylus, and more. Then in October, Azealia Banks and Louis XIV are scheduled to join forces for three performances in the US.

Fans can purchase tickets for the European dates. However, if they want to attend one of the three US show, that presale won’t start until July 26 at 12 noon Eastern. Find more information here. Continue below to view the full tour schedule.

Lizzo Defends Kamala Harris’ Tenure As Vice President From Critics

Lizzo is fully onboard with Presidential candidate Kamala Harris. One thing she isn’t onboard with, though, is the criticism that’s been leveled at Harris. Many of the Democratic nominee’s critics have pointed to her inactivity as Vice President as a sign that she will be an unworthy President. Lizzo, on the other hand, has critiques for these critics. The singer hopped on Instagram on July 22 to defend Harris, and make a few broader points about Vice Presidents.

Lizzo asserted that Vice Presidents are rarely known for their achievements. “For everyone saying that Kamala Harris didn’t do anything when she was VP,” she stated. “Please, for $5,000. Do not use Google. Tell me what any vice president has ever done during their term that was notable that you noticed. She went on to posit that VP’s are meant to take a backseat to the President. She then pointed to Joe Biden, and his tenure as Vice President under Barack Obama. “It’s funny because when Joe Biden was VP, the only things I really remember him doing was making cool videos with Barack,” she added.

Lizzo Feels Harris Is Suffering From A Double Standard

Lizzo then highlighted what she felt was a double standard with regards to Harris. “When [Biden] ran for president, I didn’t hear that same, ‘He didn’t do anything when he was VP’ from people,” she noted. “So I wonder why y’all are saying it now.” She then dared Harris’ critics to be blunt about what they don’t like, rather than hide behind reasons she feels are weak. “Can we all just be for real,” she said. “Let’s all be for real and say our quiet parts out loud. Because the discourse is tired.” This is not the first time Lizzo has voiced her support for Kamala Harris.

In 2020, Lizzo hosted a conversation with Harris for National Black Voter Day. The singer brought up the topic of backlash, and asked how Harris contends with the criticisms that are leveled at her. The nominee claimed that she intends to change things from the inside. “I made the decision to go up the rough side of the mountain,” she stated. “To go inside the system.. I also understand the brilliance of being outside of the system.” At the end of the conversation, Lizzo urged everyone in attendance to make their voice heard. “The moral of the story is vote, vote, vote, vote, vote,” she concluded.

Drake Poses In Tupac Shirt Amidst Ongoing Kendrick Lamar Feud

Drake loves giving mixed messages. The rapper has “officially” put the Kendrick Lamar battle behind him. Per DJ Akademiks, Drake is getting back to giving fans who love him “what they love.” That being said, he hasn’t eased up on the trolling. Drizzy may no longer be in the diss record mode, but he hasn’t let up when it comes to sending subliminals K. Dot’s way. The latest is arguably his most obvious yet. Drake decided to post a photo of him wearing a Tupac shirt with the text “Only God Can Judge Me.”

Anybody with a cursory knowledge of the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle know the relevance that the late Tupac Shakur has for both men. Drake used Tupac’s voice to diss Lamar on the AI-assisted “Taylor Made Freestyle.” He also flaunted the fact that he bought Tupac’s personalized ring for $1 million. Dot, meanwhile, considers Tupac to be his favorite artist. He famously conversed with the “ghost” of ‘Pac on To Pimp a Butterfly (2015), and has tributed him multiple times over the years. He took Drake’s slander of the rapper to heart, and incorporated it into his number one hit “Not Like Us.” “You think the Bay ‘gon let you disrespect ‘Pac, n**ga,” he raps. “I think that Oakland show gon’ be your last stop, n**ga.”

Drake Continues To Troll Kendrick Lamar On Instagram

Kendrick Lamar worked in yet another dig at Drake during his “Pop Out” show on Juneteenth. He changed the lyrics to “Euphoria” to send a message directly to the 6 God: return Tupac’s ring and the Compton king will afford him some respect. Naturally, Drake rejected the offer. Instead, he’s decided to double down on the Lamar trolling with his new shirt. “Only God Can Judge Me” is a song from Tupac’s penultimate album, All Eyez on Me, and the kind of grandiose sentiment that the 6 God would apply to his own legacy.

Drake has, admittedly, voiced his adoration for Tupac in the past. During a 2011 interview with The Boombox, the rapper claimed that he aspired to be more like ‘Pac in his own life. “He was somebody who was a free spirit and he did not care,” he opined. “He just did what he felt. I wish I could have a little more ‘Pac to my persona. I’m working on it.” Things have obviously taken a different turn for the 6 God in the intervening years.

EST Gee’s Manager EST Big Beach Allegedly Killed After Kentucky Show

EST Gee suffered a tragic loss on July 21st. The rapper’s longtime manager, EST Big Beach, was reportedly shot and killed in Kentucky. According to WDRB, EST Big Beach was found by police in a vehicle in downtown Louisville. Emergency Medical Services was called to the scene shortly after police arrived, but the manager was pronounced dead. Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Aaron Ellis claimed that LMPD have opened an investigation into the shooting, but no suspects have yet been identified. EST Big Beach was 31 years old.

EST Big Beach was in Louisville to support EST Gee’s July 20th concert. The latter was the driving force behind the EST Gee + Friends Summer Jam, which took place at KFC Yum Center. EST Gee brought out a number of superstar artists during the concert, including Lil Baby, Future and 42 Dugg. EST Gee is no stranger to violence. In 2019, the rapper was shot five times while driving back from a music video shoot. He told Rolling Stone he was fully expected to die, but managed to make a full recovery with only slight visual impairment in his left eye.

EST Gee’s Manager Was Found Shot In Downtown Louisville

Gee also spoke on the attention that rappers get from shooting, when compared with those who aren’t in front of the camera. “Regular n**gas is targeted every day,” he asserted. “Regular n**gas get robbed for their jewelry every day. That sh*t don’t be on Instagram. Is it still sad? The sh*t ain’t [perceived as] sad, it’s only sad when it’s a rapper.” Gee’s statements were blunt and bleak enough to intimidate the Rolling Stone journalist conducting the interview. “I feel his eyes peering at me through his Black shades,” they wrote. Sadly, Gee’s comments about non-rappers being claimed has taken on new relevance in light of his manager’s death.

EST Gee has not commented on EST Big Beach’s passing, but he has referenced his manager in song. On the 2019 single “El Toro,” the rapper shouts out his manager for being hustling alongside him in the years prior to his fame. “I bet he spend his nights and days chasin’ a b*tch, I can’t trip,” EST Gee spits. “Summer ’18, me and big Beach had three bricks, on my d*ck. Six months before, all I had saved, I had spent.” EST fans have flooded the comment section of Big Beach’s Instagram to pay their respects.
