Hunxho Reportedly Arrested After Shooting At His ATL Birthday Bash

June isn’t over yet, but already it’s been one of the busiest months in terms of hip-hop and crime. We’ve had our eye on the YSL/YFN RICO trials for months now. In addition, YNW Melly’s double murder proceedings have seen plenty of ups and downs. Elsewhere, Boosie Badazz, Quando Rondo, and Jacquees were put behind bars (only the second artist remains there – the other two have since bonded out). As if all of that weren’t enough chaos to take in, reports claim that Hunxho was arrested in Atlanta on Saturday (June 24) night.

Footage obtained by @newsmadeit on Instagram shows officers at Lyfe ATL nightclub, where a shooting took place during the producer’s celebration. In the clip, a group of police run swarm toward the scene of the crime. We also see people and various cars waiting outside to see what would happen next. A truck that was in the area at the time seems to have taken some bullets, and at least one person was hit though their condition remains unknown at this time

Moments later, it’s been said that Hunxho was arrested for alleged gun possession. Another video taken last night shows the “48 Laws of Power” artist being held down on the ground by an officer. “Why they lock him up?” a female voice asks from being the camera. “They said Hunxho had a gun in his hand,” another woman explained.

The news is particularly unfortunate considering it comes little more than a year after the 24-year-old beat RICO charges. “Been fighting this RICO for FOUR YEARS,” he wrote on his Instagram Story in May 2022. “Dis s**t don’t even feel real right now .”

Those references at then packaged into a phrase ripe with meme potential.

The phrase quickly became a copypasta, being quote-tweeted over and over. At the time of writing, the original tweet nearly 3000 retweets and nearly 500 quote tweets. Furthermore, its origin point appears to be a Travis Scott fan account called “Tervis Scoot”. At the very least, they are the account that popularized the phrase, even if they didn’t outright create it. Sure, there was Push’s original shots, but those were more like obvious subliminals given the context than anything else. Now, the Dipset member released “Summer Collection” in response for a “From The Block Performance.” In it, he uses the exact same beat that the Virginia native used in his teased disses towards the New York MC on an unreleased Clipse collab with No Malice. Not only that, but he responds to a few of the points that Pusha made on those bars, and comes through with some more aggressive material.

For example, there’s him urging Pusha T to not doubt his VVS diamonds, and him not caring about any of the former G.O.O.D. Music president’s luxury purchases or flamboyant style. Also, he trashed his artistry is catalog, referencing his album My Name Is My Name but saying “we ain’t screaming that.” Another example of that was Jim Jones stating that Push is only a “gorilla” because of all the “apes” that he features on his albums. He didn’t really clarify whether he depends on his features or picks small names, but either way works, right?

Quando Rondo Remains In Jail As Judge Defers Bond Ruling

Quando Rondo will remain in jail for the time being after the judge in his drug case chose to defer ruling on whether he should receive bond. The decision not to a make decision came after Rondo’s first day in court. During the hearing, Rondo’s attorney compared him to Led Zepplin and Ray Charles. “He’s got the support of one of the greatest record labels in this country. The same record label as Led Zepplin and Ray Charles, that’s his label,” Rondo’s defense attorney Jonah Pine told the court. “They’ve provided a letter to us, it’s very heartfelt and talks about his career.”

Furthermore, Pine pushed back against Rondo wearing an ankle monitor if he was granted bond. Pine’s argument was that Rondo’s career would make it difficult to wear an ankle monitor without violating its terms. However, state attorney Christian Stolfe argued that “The Rollin’ 60s are currently one of the largest and most violent street gangs in Savannah. That man is a leader of it. That is a dangerous community.”

Judge Defers Bond Decision

However, the day ended in a stalemate as Judge Tammy Stokes chose to defer her bond ruling for the time being. Judge Stokes said she didn’t want to rush the decision. Additionally, she said she was “taking all of the information presented by both sides and thinking it over.” That means that Rondo will remain in jail for the time being until Stokes comes a decision. A timeline for the decision has not yet been set.

Rondo is one of 18 people facing drug charges related to The Rollin’ 60s gang. Rondo was charged with “2 counts of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s controlled substances law, 1 count of participating in criminal activity affiliated with a street gang, and 1 count of illegal use of a cell phone to facilitate a drug deal.” The rapper was initially arrested on June 16 in Macon, Georgia. BUSINESS IS BUSINESS is already one of the more hyped-up album releases of the year so far, and recent posts from Young Thug on social media hint that the album rollout’s not over yet. Moreover, he took to Instagram to ask Kanye West to “answer the f***ing phone, it’s business.” In addition, on Twitter, he made the same call to action despite the Chicago rapper’s absence on the platform. “Kanye doesn’t have a Twitter but somehow he’ll see this Tweet,” Thug tweeted, fueling further hype around a single from these two. Not only that, but some believe this may be for a deluxe version of the album, which certainly has a lot of potential.

Sure, you might be one of the people that thinks BUSINESS IS BUSINESS was not as good as people wanted it to be. Also, Kanye West is understandably not the most sought-after artist right now, at least when it comes to fans taking issue with his antics as of late. All that said, there’s no denying that it’s still exciting to think of what these two could cook up- or rather, what they recorded prior to Young Thug’s arrest that might see the light of day. Their repertoire includes “Highlights” from The Life Of Pablo, “Remote Control” on Donda, and the excellent (although still unreleased) leak “Bad Night.”

Of course, this is far from the first time Thugger’s shouted out the Yeezy creative in any capacity. Not only are there lyrical mentions (the most recent one appearing on “Wit Da Racks” on BUSINESS IS BUSINESS), but he has a whole song named after him on JEFFERY. While this has a lot of potential, it’s also unclear whether a previous collab would release or if Ye would add a verse or production to a Young Thug demo and rework it. Regardless, it’s the only feature the Atlanta trap legend asked for so far on social media, so a whole deluxe album might not even be in the cards.

Jacquees Put Down $40 To Bond Out Of Gwinnett County After Simple Battery Arrest: Report

The music industry can’t go more than a few days without someone breaking the internet with news of their arrest. Recently we’ve seen Boosie Badazz and Quando Rondo caught up in some serious legal drama. Now, Jacquees has joined them. On Saturday (June 24), the self-proclaimed King of R&B began trending on Twitter as an alleged mugshot hit the internet. In the photo, his face is obviously swollen, though it remains unclear exactly what resulted in such severe injuries.

As per Hollywood Unlocked, Jacquees – born Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax – was arrested in Gwinnett County on Friday night. At the time, he was charged with a misdemeanour of simple battery, plus a misdemeanour charge of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers. Arrest records shown below confirm that he was booked into the local jail at 1:26 AM. The recording artist made bond just a few hours later at 8:46 AM. His amount due was set at $3,700, and he put down just $40 to secure his release.

In the time since making it out of Gwinnett County, Jacquees has been active on Instagram and even made it over to Phoenix, Arizona for his performance and after-party. He may be getting trolled over his significantly altered appearance in his mugshot, but still, the 29-year-old definitely proved his dedication to his craft.

Thankfully, Jacquees has a few weeks to recover from the incident before heading overseas on the Sincerely For You International Tour. He’ll be kicking things off in Amsterdam on July 15 and will eventually make his way down under to Australia later on in the month.
