Lakeyah Claps Back At Backlash For Rapping About Men As A Lesbian

Lakeyah recently responded to online backlash she faced after people pointed out that, as a lesbian, she raps about male lovers on her tracks. Despite some criticism, the Milwaukee rhymer maintained that she does so to relate to a wider listener base. “I can’t wait until you start rapping about being with women,” one user expressed on Twitter. “What’s the difference when a gay male artist talks about having a p***y and doesn’t have one?” the No Pressure Part 2 MC tweeted in response. In fact, this is far from the first time she’s addressed the issue.

“Don’t worry about the pronouns I use in my music,” Lakeyah previously expressed on Twitter. “I be tryna relate to the broader audience. If you gay rap it in gay. Hell idk leave me alone.” In another tweet, the “Real B***h” artist expanded on her sexuality and creative process. “Nobody MAKES me rap the way I do love,” she wrote. “I’ve been a lesbian since I was young & I also have been studying and making music since I was 14-15. Rapping the SAME way I do. With male pronouns for as long as I can remember. My sexuality is def a ‘if Yk Yk.’”

Lakeyah Addresses Backlash To Her Lyricism

However, such conversations haven’t really dampened her career or visibility at all, so she’ll likely continue to brush off the haters. One of her most recent musical appearances was her contributions to DDG’s deluxe version of his album It’s Not Me It’s You. Alongside Coi Leray on the track “Rich B***h,” Lakeyah came through with her consistently boisterous and confident energy. Once you back up your choices with bars, rap fans find it a whole lot easier to understand.

Still, this does open up an interesting conversation on representation, relatability, and how much artists should cater to their listeners. Regardless, from the 22-year-old’s expressions, it’s clear she will do whatever makes her most comfortable and fitting as a lyricist. If, for her, that means including the widest net of people possible, than who is anyone to ask her to do any different? After all, it’s not like her music is overtly exclusionary to begin with. Let us know what you think of this debate in the comments and return to HNHH for more on Lakeyah.

Lil Durk Seemingly Responds To NBA YoungBoy’s Twitter Diss

After NBA YoungBoy fired off some vicious disses at Lil Durk and his partner India Royale, many wondered how the Chicago MC would respond. Moreover, YB announced his next mixtape Richest Pop would drop the same day as Durk’s next album Almost Healed. In the process, he dragged the couple through the mud, disrespected his dead friends, and trashed DJ Akademiks for reporting that their beef was over. However, Durk’s response was quite simple on Twitter, and it was one that pointed to him not letting this get under his skin or distracting him from his upcoming release or his success.

“Idk nun I ain’t seen nun,” Lil Durk wrote on Twitter shortly after the Baton Rouge MC’s attacks. Then, he posted a picture of his name as a trending Twitter topic. “Trending everyday,” he added with a black heart emoji. Furthermore, it seems like YoungBoy might have just given Smurk exactly what he wanted without asking: more buzz and promotion for his own release. Still, that didn’t make his words any less harsh online, and hope that they reconciled vanished as quickly as it came.

Think about it scary bum b***h you know I ain’t lying ha ha #fact. @indiaroyaltyy tell that p***y b***h he bet not drop he ain’t thang ‘pretty lady.”

Meanwhile, India Royale doesn’t seem to have responded as of writing this article, but Akademiks sure did. “Lol I never thought I see the day my homie diss me cuz his sales low,” he quote-tweeted YoungBoy’s post. “This rap game is the devil lol. Youngboy I forgive u man. We can get them sales up otherwise… lol. But ok. Capitol Records I blame u for this… y’all pressuring YB to get some sales he doing anything. Get my boy off house arrest tho. YB the last rapper I thought would ever do some s**t for sales. But damn. Go buy his album it drops Friday… He’s tryna outsell Lil Durk. I still love him thc. Brian McKnight Responds To Backlash, Shares Photos Of His Biological Children

Brian McKnight recently caught a lot of heat online for something seemingly innocuous: celebrating his daughter-in-law’s birthday. However, what got people mad is how, for years now, reports have come out that McKnight forgot about his four biological children. After social media riled against him for what many found to be an insensitive post, the R&B/soul singer finally addressed his viral backlash. For one, he posted various pictures of him and his kids over the years, which he believes disproves these criticisms. Also, he said that there’s always another side to the story, albeit one that he hasn’t shared often.

“Not sure how these posts that have been sitting here this whole time were left out of the false narrative that is trending,” Brian McKnight wrote on Instagram. “Abandonement? There’s always more to every story. Stay tuned.” Furthermore, he also included the captions for these family pictures with his kids. For example, one read “Throw back to our wedding day with my sons happiest day of my life.” Another, this time from McKnight’s wife, contained the following message: “My husband my sons and daughter on the most beautiful day of our lives.”

Brian McKnight’s Response

Still, this might not convince people that the situation is any better, especially after the Instagram birthday post in question. “Today we celebrate you Jules on your birthday,” Brian McKnight wrote to his step-daughter. “Your mom and I couldn’t be prouder of you and I couldn’t ask for a better daughter than you!!! Happy birthday to the best daughter ever! Love u a zillion.” When it comes to the 53-year-old’s own biological daughter, he has a less than positive relationship with her at the moment.

Meanwhile, the artist’s son Brian McKnight Jr. had previously blasted his father back in 2021. “When it comes to my father, the proof is in the pudding,” he began. “If there are still people out there wasting their breath putting us down for speaking our truth, challenge them to question how they think they know our father better than us? Lol you know his body of work; we came from his actual nuts.” Regardless of these unfortunate family matters, stay logged into HNHH for the latest on Brian McKnight.

Finesse2tymes Responds To Accusations Of Sending Brother As Impersonator

As expected, there’s another side to the story when it comes to Finesse2tymes’ most recent concert controversy. Moreover, a party promoter claimed that the Memphis star scammed him for $40K for a Huntsville, Alabama club appearance, for which he allegedly sent out his brother to impersonate him. However, the rapper’s response to these recent accusations paints a much more understandable story. Even though nothing is for certain, it will be interesting to see how it pans out for Finesse’s future performances. At the very least, now you have a bet to make the next time you see him live, à la MF DOOM.

“Just before anybody do anything,” Finesse2tymes wrote on his Instagram Story according to XXL. “Just in case they post. I’m out here, in the city. I’m at the Spring Hill Suites. Just in case a n***a say I didn’t pull up to they city. I came. I let my opening act come on stage. That n***a was drunk and full of that fentanyl and damn-near died. I’m gone.” Furthermore, videos of 2tymes arguing with the promoter in question also made the rounds on social media.

Finesse2tymes Allegedly Sent Brother To Perform For Him

Show host Kendra Fletcher also blasted Finesse2tymes in a lengthy Facebook post. “So the mfs really gon bring a MF that’s not Finesse2Tymes my brother BIG V that brought him have every right to be mad,” she wrote. “N***a made a drop and everything Hell I’m mad for him cause he paid that man 20k UPFRONT got the receipt and 20k on the back end that lil b***h with the short blonde hair they brought with the FAKE took the money from him that he gave to him in the back I SEEN IT with my own eyes and drove TF off when everybody was trying to stop the car they was in OUTSIDE as they was pullin off. So a total of 40k down the drain that they spent smh.”

Meanwhile, the “Overdose” MC made more headlines for his relationship drama as of late. Whether or not this show fiasco is true, his name will likely keep rising amid the Memphis scene with prolific drops. Regardless of what his future holds as far as live shows, at least there’s an extra precedent of interest and notoriety for the star. A$AP Rocky Tweets At Woman He Jumped Over Ahead Of The Met Gala

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna may have been fashionably late to the 2023 Met Gala, but the soon-to-be father of two didn’t hesitate to make waves in a big way in the hours ahead of the event. While apparently on his way to get ready for his night out with the Bad Gal, the Testing rapper walked through a crowd waiting in a queue with his hood up and sunglasses on in hopes of maintaining some degree of anonymity. As he neared the end of the lineup, Rocky braced himself to jump over the waist-high gate, unfortunately using the face of a woman beside him as leverage.

In a video taken of the incident, she’s obviously angered by the confusing interaction, especially considering she’s wearing glasses that easily could’ve broken her nose, or themselves. Once A$AP turns around to reveal his identity, however, her body language immediately changes to utter shock when she realizes which famous rapper just had his millionaire hands on her face. As the footage continues to circulate online, many have been laughing at the New Yorker’s antics, while others are encouraging the woman to take legal action against him.

A$AP Rocky Surprises Fans in New York

After taking a minute to recover, the woman – who’s now been identified as @youareasapmadz on Twitter – posted about the major moment online. “A$AP ROCKY JUST USED ME TO JUMP OVER THE BARRICADE HELLO,” her first post on Monday (May 1) night reads. “A$AP Rocky just literally jumped over me,” Maddy wrote in another one, this time including a selfie so people might recognize her from the viral video.

Elsewhere on her profile, the “victim” made it abundantly clear that she has no plans to take legal action against the entertainer. “Stop asking if I’m suing A$AP,” she begged curious users. “Literally how would I do that?” Maddy asked, pointing out that she doesn’t have much of a case as she doesn’t seem to have sustained any injuries. See the selfie snapped by A$AP Rocky’s unexpected springboard immediately after the incident below, and tap back in later for more pop culture news updates.

Rapper Apologizes to Woman in the Crowd

Chance The Rapper’s Wife Appears To Speak Out

Chance The Rapper recently caused a lot of conversation when a video surfaced of him dancing with another woman at a Jamaican festival. Not only that, but people seemed most taken aback by the suggestive nature of their moves, as the woman grinded on him. Of course, every couple will handle those situations differently, but that didn’t stop people from giving their two cents. However, after that video went viral and prompted debate in the comments sections, the Chicago rapper’s wife seemingly responded. Kirsten Corley-Bennett posted a quote from Maya Angelou on Instagram and reposted an inspirational quote on her Instagram story.

“Wherever I go, grace will beat me to it, meet me in it, turn it around, and make it a miracle,” the IG Story read. Before that came a screenshot post of the Angelou quote, and she wrote “I hope one day, we all choose to grow up” as the caption. “Oh my God, I’ve lived a very simple life!” the paragraph begins. “You can say, Oh yes, at thirteen this happened to me and at fourteen… But those are facts. But the facts can obscure the truth, what it really felt like. Every human being has paid the earth to grow up.”

Chance The Rapper’s Wife Seems To Address His Dance

Moreover, she highlighted this next part of the text, which is what is really making people connect it to the video. “Most people don’t grow up. It’s too damn difficult. What happens is most people get older. That’s the truth of it. They honor their credit cards, they find parking spaces, they marry, the have the nerve to have children, but they don’t grow up. Not really. They get older. But to grow up costs the earth, the earth. It manes you take responsibility for the time you take up, for the space you occupy. It’s serious business. And you find out what it costs us to love and to lose, to dare and to fail. And maybe even more, to succeed.

“What it costs, in truth,” the messages concluded. “Not superficial costs- anybody can have that- I mean in truth.” Given that this quote could be interpreted many different ways, perhaps this isn’t the bombshell response that many expected. Still, from what we can gather, maybe people looking for that have some growing up to do, as well. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Chance The Rapper.

Cam’ron Seemingly Responds To Jim Jones’ Criticism Of Ma$e

Cam’ron has seemingly responded to his Dipset partner Jim Jones’ criticism of Ma$e. In an Instagram post published on Monday, Cam’ron shared a quote attributed to DukeDaGod regarding haters. Cam has been working on his sports show, It Is What It Is, alongside Ma$e in recent months.

“Anybody who says ‘I can’t hate’ really wants to ‘hate,’” the quote shared by Cam’ron reads. Fans in the comments section quickly noted Jim Jones’ recent comments on Ma$e and his work with Cam’ron on It Is What It Is. “I don’t care about Ma$e. I don’t care for Ma$e too much. Tell Ma$e go say some prayers,” he told DJ Envy on The Breakfast Club while addressing the status of his relationship with the rapper.

As for It Is What It Is, Jim Jones admitted, “They’re definitely very funny. I can’t take that way from them. And they’re very knowledgeable about basketball, they both grew up playing basketball. Ma$e was cool, Cam was definitely had a chance to go to the NBA. I can’t say that with no hate or nothing in my heart. Boy was dumb nice. Since we was younger, starting at the Rucker age 15, they called him All-AmeriCam. Him and Ma$e went to the championship at Madison Square Garden and things like that, so they was some ballers. To see them on the television show is pretty dope, I hope they get a check for that.”

Fans on Cam’ron’s Instagram post have been calling out Jim Jones for refusing to make peace with the situation. “JIM JONES ALWAYS HATED,” one commented. “How you gon be mad at ppl making peace and making bread?????? Put your ego aside jimmy…you were the fuel that kept their friendship fucced up for 20 years. GROW TF UP JIM.” Another wrote, “That n***a Jim wanna be grumpy & ‘tough’ til he 80 meanwhile Cam & Mase having the time of they life (pause)”

Despite being partners through Dipset, Cam’ron and Jim Jones have had numerous spats over the years. On his latest collaborative album with Hitmaka, Back In My Prime, Jones rapped that he still loves Cam, but “when I see him it’s like hi and bye/ It’s kinda crazy, I thought it was ride or die.” The lyrics come from the track, “Status Update.”

Nicki Minaj Shares Advice She’d Give Her Younger Self

Nicki Minaj is on a roll right now, which should come as no surprise considering her dominance in the hip-hop game. Moreover, her recent remix of Ice Spice’s “Princess Diana” was a smash hit with both audiences and hardcore fans alike. In addition to her success, she often takes time on social media to talk with her die-hards and respond to questions or happening surrounding her online. One recent example was her reply to a fan who asked whether she ever wishes for a normal life. Also, she revealed the advice that she would give her younger self.

“Do you ever wish for a normal life?” the fan asked the “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” star via Twitter. “If you could go back and tell your younger self anything what would it be?” Nicki Minaj’s answer was short, sweet, and surely inspirational for many out there, or at least motivating enough to keep their heads up. “I have everything I ever prayed for,” the rap star responded. “If I could tell my younger self something I’d say: ‘hang in there, one day you’ll have the best fans on earth.‘”

Nicki Minaj Would Tell Her Younger Self To “Hang In There”

Through her hard work and a strong connection to her fanbase, those words ring true. Not many other Standoms out there come close to the passion, sheer number, and prolific nature of the Barbz. Beyond that, the 40-year-old is also venturing into new areas of collaboration with artists outside of the rap game. For example, her recent appearance on Kim Petras’ “Alone” left the German artist befuddled. “It doesn’t feel real still,” Petras told Zane Lowe. “Her singing, ‘It’s Barbie and it’s Kim Petras,’ I cried. I was on the floor and then she calls me Kim Petty in it, which all my friends are like, ‘How do we not come up with that [in] our entire lives?’

“So she just changed my life in so many ways with that verse, and that verse rips,” she continued. “I love her and I’m so inspired by her always, it’s crazy to me. I don’t know how she does it, but she’s just the greatest ever. I’m so happy that she likes the song. We shot the music video together and [Minaj] was like, ‘Ugh, when I heard the song, I just loved it.’ And that just made me so happy. I feel like I’ve learned so much. I feel like I love her more. When the camera’s on, it’s crazy. She just goes into full superstar.” For more updates and news on Nicki Minaj, check back in with HNHH.

Marques Houston Clarifies Comments On Single Mothers

Marques Houston recently made some inflammatory comments about single mothers, calling them a “red flag.” Now, the singer and actor took to social media to respond to the backlash and apologize for his insensitive remarks. Not only that, but it also comes after Immature group mate Romeo responded on his behalf and gave an apology to fans, stating that he doesn’t agree with Houston’s views. However, that might have brushed Marques the wrong way, at least from what his Instagram Stories indicate. First, though, there’s his actual apology.

“I humbly apologize for the comments I have made, and to those I have offended,” Marques Houston began. “I have a deep respect for all women of any age, race, or background. My comments made in a recent interview was taken out of context. I work with many independent women every single day, and have ultimate respect for them and what they are able to accomplish in this world and my choice of words, or how they were taken, does not reflect how I view them. So again, I would like to apologize, and will use this experience to both better myself and the men I’m an example to.”

Marques Houston Addresses Backlash To Single Mothers Comments

Before that, Romeo came through with a letter of his own addressing the issue. “I would like to extend my sincerest apologies in regards to the insensitive statements made by my former group member Marques Houston,” he began. “Women today have enough battles to endure including the policing of their bodies, equal pay in the workplaces, and beauty standards. It is never ok to degrade one group of women in order to praise another. As artists, it has always been important to us that the content of our music and who we represent as men would never disrespect women (especially women of color) and his views do not reflect those of the group.”

Still, maybe the Sister Sister actor saw this as an affront against him, and might’ve called Romeo a “bottom feeder.” “To all my fans, supporters and real truth seekers I can see how the media would love to pin people against people for monetary gain,” he added. “But when your at peace, loving life and able to still make a positive impact in the entertainment world for over 2 decades, it’s so easy to move out the way and let the bottom feeders eat. #Protectyourpeace I LOVE YOU ALL!” Regardless of your take on these comments, stick around on HNHH for the latest on Romeo and Marques Houston.

Moneybagg Yo Seemingly Responds To Pricey Steak At Restaurant

A lot of people debated whether $135 dollars is an adequate price for a 40 oz. Tomahawk steak at Moneybagg Yo’s newly opened restaurant, Cache 42. However, it seems like the Memphis MC chimed in on the debate via an Instagram post. “Pay What You Weigh Love,” he wrote as the caption of a picture of himself. While it’s just an unassuming picture and caption, the context surrounding the worth of payment certainly makes it hard to not make the connection. On one hand, many people lamented the steep price for a cut of meat with no sides. On the other, some argued that such a hunk of beef could feed four people with ease.

Regardless, this controversy will likely just add more notoriety and attention to Cache 42, which opened in early April. Of course, the fact that a Tomahawk is on the menu at all should suggest that it’ll hit your pockets a bit deeper than other places. Still, this is a young business with not even two weeks of experience as of writing this article. As such, only time will tell how it continues to build, adapt, and bring its culinary treats to patrons of ranging financial situations.

Moneybagg Yo Apparently Responds To Overpriced Steak Debate At Cache 42

Unfortunately for the “Wokescha” rapper, this isn’t the only controversy that hit Cache 42. Shortly after opening, Moneybagg Yo got into a social media spat with his alleged baby mama Poison Ivy concerning a fake Facebook page of the restaurant. Moreover, Ivy shared a post that talked down on Yo’s relationship with Ari Fletcher, simultaneously dissing and praising her and Ivy. Then, the 31-year-old called cap on Facebook and asked fans to report the page.

“If Y’all Love Me Report This Fake Capp A** S**t!!” he wrote. “It’s Some Weird Ppl In this World Just Be Wanting To Go Viral For Wateva S**t Sad Bra REPORT THIS PAGE CACHE 42 DONT HAVE A REAL FB PAGE YET!” Of course, Moneybagg and Ari’s relationship apparently grew rocky recently, but it seems like this was a step too far. Regardless, let us know what you think of the $135 steak debate and the Bread Gang artist’s response down below. Also, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Moneybagg Yo.
