LeBron James & JJ Redick To Premiere First Episode Of Their “X’s & O’s” Podcast “Mind The Game”

JJ Redick, former NBA sharpshooter now ESPN analyst, is also sharp when it comes to his knowledge of basketball. He displays that on shows such as First Take, as well as his color commentary for the marquee NBA games. Additionally, you cannot forget about his incredible podcast The Old Man and the Three. If you are looking for top-level content about the league, his platform is one of the best in the business. However, the journeyman is not looking to stop there. According to Uproxx and multiple reports, LeBron James will joining JJ Redick for a more relaxing podcasting format.

The two will be combining their basketball acumen to break down the “X’s and O’s” on their joint show Mind the Game. Just like JJ’s original show it will be available on a plethora of platforms, including YouTube. Down below you can watch a preview of the first episode which is due to drop tomorrow, March 19. As we mentioned it will be a very chill atmosphere and the clip proves that as the two casually give their opinions over wine on how to cover baseline inbounds.

JJ Redick Continues To Prove Why He Is The Next Face Of Sports Podcasting

In a phone interview with The Athletic, JJ explains the intentions behind Mind the Game. “It’s meant to be a very free-flowing conversation about the sport and about the game. If you look at it in a very simplistic way, it’s just about basketball.” James also spoke about how thrilled he is to be bringing this production to life. “I’m really proud of what we’ve done to innovate in sports media. When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.” Guests will also be a regularity on this show too and as of now, there are no sponsors for the show. However, with as big as LeBron and Redick are to the basketball world, it should not be problem for this to blow up without the backing or the explosive rants.

What are your thoughts on LeBron James and JJ Redick starting their podcast Mind the Game? Do you think this will be a hit sports talk show, why or why not? Will this become bigger than The Old Man and the Three? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Mase hooked Cam’ron up with $20,000 in cash for his birthday, representing $1,000 for every year of their since-squashed feud. He presented the gift to him during the latest episode of their sports talk show, It Is What It Is. The conversation began with Cam discussing his birthday plans.

“I didn’t really do nothing this year,” Cam’ron admitted. “But just being here every day is a celebration for me man, so I appreciate that. Thank you man.” From there, Mase gifted him “20 racks,” in two envelopes. “For the 20 years I ain’t see you,” he explained as the two hugged. Cam’ron responded: “Thank you so much bro. All I’m going to do is buy you something. I would just take the 20 and buy you something.”

I kinda didn’t understand it at the time because that’s my man all day and I’m like, where church come from?” he said at the time. “So I started bugging out on him because of that. So to be honest with you, the whole sh*t was my fault and just not understanding the kind of path he was on at the time.” Check out Cam’ron and Mase’s latest episode of It Is What It Is below.

Cam’ron Compares His Relationship With Just Blaze To Russell Wilson And Marshawn Lynch’s: Watch

Just a few days ago former NFL running back and Super Bowl champion, Marshawn Lynch went on to Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay. One of the topics that came up was how rocky his relationship was with Seattle Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll, but more importantly, Russell Wilson. He stated that they never really hung out beyond the confines of the organization. Additionally, he revealed that when Wilson would call him it was through a blocked number and he was not polite during their chats. It has made its way around social media and one of the people to talk about it was rapper Cam’ron.

His sports talk show, It Is What It Is, is seeing some tremendous success after signing a huge contract. The Harlem icon discussed this topic about Russ and Marshawn, using a personal relationship to explain how messy the former teammates’ connection is. Cam’ron is acting as Lynch in this scenario and he using his former work partner Just Blaze as Russell. Let us just say he sends some strays towards the DJ.

Cam’ron’s story is a little all over the place in the clips above. However, the basic jist of it all, is that Blaze had a beat for Cam and it was not cleared. They could have made a lot more money if it was tidied up behind the scenes but, Cam did not really care about all of that. He just wanted to have a hit song and he did not appreciate how technical Blaze was at that time. He says all of this to say that it was more important to ditch the play call that cost the Seahawks a ring when Wilson threw the interception in the endzone. Instead, they could have done it the easier way by handing it off to Lynch at the 1-yard line. Essentially, sometimes it is more about working smarter not harder than it needs to be.

What are your initial thoughts on Cam’ron’s statements about his relationship with Just Blaze and how it measures up with Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch’s? Do you think it is an accurate anecdote to use? Were you surprised to hear about both of these stories? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Cam’ron, Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, and the rest of the music and sports world.

Cam’ron Explains Why He Brought Ma$e On For “It Is What It Is”

Cam’ron says that it was only right for him to bring Ma$e on his new sports talk show, It Is What It Is. Sitting down with Good Day New York for recent a interview, the New York rapper explained that he’s reinvented himself.

“So look, Hip Hop is 50 years old and I’ve been doing this [25 years], so if you don’t reinvent yourself, you’ll be looking at a 1997 Cam’ron,” he said. “I’m like, ‘I love sports and I need to be on television.’ People always offer me things to do on television. So I’m like, ‘Let me create my own show, not somebody giving me a show, and see how it goes.”

As for the decision to work with Ma$e on It Is What It Is, he explained: “Ma$e got me my first record deal, ever. So doing this show and creating this show and having him be a part of it, it felt like I’m giving back to him for helping me even be an entertainer. I may not have been where I’m at if [Ma$e] didn’t take me to Biggie Smalls [The Notorious B.I.G.] and get me my first record deal… I wanted to pay him back, and hopefully, this show will do that.”

Cam’ron launched It Is What It Is on the Come And Talk 2 Me YouTube channel back in January. In the short time since, it’s massed 7 million total views. On the show, he and Ma$e discuss topics from across the sports landscape.

Cam’ron On His Relationship With Ma$e

Cam’ron and Ma$e haven’t always been the best of friends. Despite collaborating on “Horse & Carriage” back in 1998, they had a falling out in the 2000s. They went on to trade multiple diss tracks about each other in 2017. It wasn’t until 2022 that they finally squashed their beef.

Cam’ron Seemingly Responds To Jim Jones’ Criticism Of Ma$e

Cam’ron has seemingly responded to his Dipset partner Jim Jones’ criticism of Ma$e. In an Instagram post published on Monday, Cam’ron shared a quote attributed to DukeDaGod regarding haters. Cam has been working on his sports show, It Is What It Is, alongside Ma$e in recent months.

“Anybody who says ‘I can’t hate’ really wants to ‘hate,’” the quote shared by Cam’ron reads. Fans in the comments section quickly noted Jim Jones’ recent comments on Ma$e and his work with Cam’ron on It Is What It Is. “I don’t care about Ma$e. I don’t care for Ma$e too much. Tell Ma$e go say some prayers,” he told DJ Envy on The Breakfast Club while addressing the status of his relationship with the rapper.

As for It Is What It Is, Jim Jones admitted, “They’re definitely very funny. I can’t take that way from them. And they’re very knowledgeable about basketball, they both grew up playing basketball. Ma$e was cool, Cam was definitely had a chance to go to the NBA. I can’t say that with no hate or nothing in my heart. Boy was dumb nice. Since we was younger, starting at the Rucker age 15, they called him All-AmeriCam. Him and Ma$e went to the championship at Madison Square Garden and things like that, so they was some ballers. To see them on the television show is pretty dope, I hope they get a check for that.”

Fans on Cam’ron’s Instagram post have been calling out Jim Jones for refusing to make peace with the situation. “JIM JONES ALWAYS HATED,” one commented. “How you gon be mad at ppl making peace and making bread?????? Put your ego aside jimmy…you were the fuel that kept their friendship fucced up for 20 years. GROW TF UP JIM.” Another wrote, “That n***a Jim wanna be grumpy & ‘tough’ til he 80 meanwhile Cam & Mase having the time of they life (pause)”

Despite being partners through Dipset, Cam’ron and Jim Jones have had numerous spats over the years. On his latest collaborative album with Hitmaka, Back In My Prime, Jones rapped that he still loves Cam, but “when I see him it’s like hi and bye/ It’s kinda crazy, I thought it was ride or die.” The lyrics come from the track, “Status Update.”

Cam’ron Extends An Invite To Shannon Sharpe

Cam’ron and Ma$e have been killing it as of late thanks to their new show, It Is What It Is. Overall, this show is an incredibly refreshing take on the sports talk formula. Unlike shows such as First Take and Undisputed, this show is uncensored. Entire episodes can be found on YouTube, and although they haven’t had any guests, they haven’t really needed any. Cam and Ma$e are exceptionally entertaining on their own. The commentary will have you laughing from start to finish, and it all feels like a breath of fresh air.

Subsequently, Cam’ron has spent a lot of time speaking about how he hopes to expand the show. There are already various suitors who want in on the publishing side. After all, this show has the potential to be a cash cow, and various media companies are looking to expand their portfolios. However, as Cam has already explained, it is going to take a lot of money to get into this venture. Not to mention, the New York legend is already looking to add hosts to the show. His first target? Well, none other than Shannon Sharpe, of course.

Cam’ron x Shannon Sharpe?

Recently, Sharpe had to censor himself after he said a swear word on live TV. This prompted Cam’ron to send a message to Sharpe. “I seen Shannon curse on TV the other day,” Cam’ron starts. “N***a said, ‘What the fuck,’ then he had to stop himself. Yo Shannon, if you wanna be on television without the producers tellin’ you what to say, without ya co-host cutting you off every time you want to make a statement, come to the team. Welcome to It Is What It Is, n***a. Come on n***a, we got a spot for yo ass, n***a!” It would take a lot of money to entice Sharpe away from Fox, although it is definitely worth a try.

At this point, Cam’ron doesn’t even need Sharpe. Ma$e and their moderator Stat Baby have proven to be a phenomenal team. That said, we cannot wait to see what’s next for It Is What It Is. Overall, we always love to see new platforms that experience such incredible success so quickly. Let us know what you think of the show, in the comments below.
