Azealia Banks Criticizes Lizzo’s Decision To Quit Music: “Stop Inviting People To Make Jokes”

Azealia Banks criticized Lizzo’s decision to quit music in the comments section of her announcement on Instagram over the weekend. In doing so, Banks argued that Lizzo invited the very trolling that caused her to fall out of love with the music industry. The comment comes after she previously apologized for taking aim at Lizzo over the years.

“I took back my criticism of you because it definitely clicked in my mind that I definitely wasn’t getting my point about the ways in which insidious people in corporate culture where positioning you to push demeaning initiatives, but sis your handle is ‘lizzo be eating.’ …. You’ve definitely given the public license to laugh at and with you by twerking at the Burger King counter and bathing in a tub of skittles,” Banks wrote. “Self-deprecation was certainly the aesthetic you chose to introduce yourself with. So I don’t see why you’d play victim rather than just stop intentionally inviting people to make jokes about that. You’re a beautiful girl, with a handle on music theory, Grammy awards and tons of success, just change the narrative and go high brow philharmonic on these h**’s and collab with ryuchi sakamoto.”

It’s been a few years since Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj were battling over wax, so much so that they both have bigger fish to fry at the moment. However, the former believes that she was among the first to really introduce the concept of female rap unity with her 2017 set at the Hot 97 Summer Jam. During that, she invited multiple other female rappers to come out and perform Queen Latifah’s classic hit “U.N.I.T.Y.” However, many fans didn’t really vibe with this statement, since the show was also heavily directed against Nicki herself. In addition, Queen did unity first, as Remy literally proved by paying homage during this performance.

Lil Baby Seemingly Hides Gunna Comments In His Twitter Replies

Unfortunately for fans of modern trap, it looks like we’ll never get the chance to hear what Drip Hardest would’ve sounded like. Moreover, the tensions between Lil Baby and Gunna ever since the latter’s plea deal in the YSL RICO case continue to become more deeply rooted. For example, one Twitter user noticed that, apparently, Baby hid one of his replies to a post that read the following: “stop dissing Gunna big dawg you breaking my heart.” While this is just social media speculation for the most part, since we’re not ruling out that this could be fabricated, it’s not surprising to hear that the 4PF rapper might not want to give the DS4EVER MC any more free publicity.

However, one important thing to consider here is that this beef stems from a much larger conversation. At the end of the day, multiple YSL members including Young Thug are still fighting for their side of the story in court. Thugger’s father even blasted Lil Baby for continuing to antagonize Gunna throughout this process. “He need to shut the f**k up ’cause he don’t know what’s going on,” Jeffrey Williams Sr. expressed during an interview. “You know he’s going off what he heard. Ask Lil Baby have he ever came to a court date. That’s what I want y’all to ask these goddamn rappers and these bloggers with this whole snitch sh*t.”

“Sounds like every other sh*tty song he has made,” one person wrote. “The fall off YB had to be studied,” said another. While some were being mean to YoungBoy, there were certainly some fans who showed him a bit of grace. NLE Choppa Backs Drake After Yasiin Bey Says The Canadian’s Music Is Perfect For Shopping

Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, made some headlines after comments about another “hip-hop” great went quite viral. In a recent interview with The Cutting Room Floor, the Brooklyn icon was inquired about his thoughts on whether Drake is within the hip-hop circle or not. “Drake is pop to me. In the sense, like, if I was in Target in Houston, and I heard a Drake song. It feels like a lot of his music is compatible with… shopping. Or, as you know, shopping with an edge in certain instances.”

Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to dismiss Bey’s answer and so did NLE Choppa. The energetic Memphis rapper was in the comments section and was there to defend Drake at the drop of a hat. According to HipHopDX, this is what Choppa had to say. “They hate on this man so much it’s ridiculous. Dude catalog more than respectable. He like the [Kool] aid man different flavors for each day of the month. He don’t know what he talking about!”

You can certainly look at it both ways. Bey’s remarks could be a low blow to Drake, especially after all of the more rap-centric hits he has. Saying he makes “pop music” can come across as jealousy of how much success he has had combining rap and pop on numerous occasions. But the 41-year-old definitely ruffled some feathers here and spoke on people who don’t know music being authorities on it, addressing a topic that is much bigger than just her.

“Rap should sound like f***ing rap!” Nicki Minaj exploded while on air on a radio program. “That’s y’all f***ing problem, and that’s why all of the record labels– not all, but some– are scrambling so bad because they about to go f***ing bankrupt. ‘Cause they was trying so bad to replace this one b***h. JJ Redick On Zion Williamson: “He’s Still Not In Shape”
