DJ Self Says Ice Cube Is “Way Better” Than Nas

In an episode of WorldStar‘s “Culture Shock” podcast that was shared yesterday, radio personality DJ Self stated that Ice Cube is a “way better” MC than Nas. The clip was shared on the podcast’s Instagram account, sparking some debate among fans in the comments. One user writes, “Ice Cube is still relevant, so there’s your answer.” Another commenter says, “Hell no he is not better [than] Nas stoppppp it.” “It just depends ice cube and Nas. They have 2 different styles,” another user claims.

DJ Self isn’t the only person to sing the praises of Ice Cube as of late. In March, comedian Kevin Hart appeared on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast and discussed his feelings on the rapper. “Cube might be one of the most genuine, kindest spirits that you can be around,” he said. The comedian went on, “He wants nothing but good for other people. He loves to see the people around him succeed- he’s such a creative mind.” Hart claims, “That’s all he does,” saying, “He loves the foundation of creativity.” He calls Ice Cube, “One of the most professional people [he’s] worked with on set.”

DJ Self Prefers Ice Cube

Ice Cube shared his thoughts on the state of America in February, calling it “uneasy.” In an interview with Wall Street‘s Maria Bartiromo, he said the goal of his BIG3 basketball league is to make U.S. cities “A little better than [they] found them.” He continued, saying, “Everybody got to do their part. The BIG3, we’re going from city to city this year.” Ice Cube went on to say, “Everybody’s got to look in the mirror and say, ‘What can I do to make things better?’”

In March, DJ Self also discussed his relationship with former Love & Hip Hop costar Cardi B in an interview with My Expert Opinion. He was asked if he felt as if he had discover the “WAP” rapper, to which he replied, “that’s a strong word.” The DJ went on to say, “You can’t discover something that is there.” He did, however, claim that he “put the magnifying glass on her.” Adding, “I put her on television. I didn’t put her in a record deal.” The two starred alongside each other on the series Love & Hip Hop, which followed Cardi B’s journey out of stripping and into a lucrative career.

West Coast pioneer Ice-T is very adamant about his concerns about the culture’s continuously growing number of podcasts and believes that most of the platforms are situated to get artists caught up in their own words, which is a perfect recipe for controversy.

In a recent tweet, the legendary rapper/actor tweeted, “Artist Public Service: Doing Interviews can be risky if you Don’t know what you’re doing.” Ice then spoke on tricks used by hosts to get the viral content they’re looking for. “They will talk to you for hours hoping you say one thing they can TWIST and hype up for clicks.”

He concluded by talking about the devolving content of today’s podcasts, saying, “Unfortunately, most podcasts have now DEVOLVED to this BS. Just saying.”

Musician and actor Ice-T jumped on Twitter last week to warn other artists about appearing on podcasts. He shared a Tweet that reads, “Artist Public Service: Doing Interviews can be risky if you Don’t know what you’re doing.“ He added, “They will talk to you for hours hoping you say one thing they can TWIST and hype up for clicks.” “Unfortunately, most podcasts have now DEVOLVED to this BS. Just saying,” the artist explained.

Last week, Ice-T got called out for opening up about raising his children on the podcast That Moment with Daymond John. He explained that he was much closer to his youngest daughter than his ever was with his other children, because he was in a more stable place in life when he had her. Ice-T then revealed that he wasn’t around as much for his other two kids, calling himself “distracted” at the time. He also described how he was, “rippin’ and running,” adding that “It was presents over presence.” Slowing down later in life allowed him to be “so much more connected” to his 7-year-old daughter Chanel, he said.

Ice-T Calls Out Podcasts

The actor went on to describe being in “a cruise pattern,” during Chanel’s upbringing. This allowed him to be at the hospital when his wife was pregnant, and be around more for his daughter, which he called “a beautiful thing.” He stated, “I think the difference with Chanel and my other kids is I’m very conscious of this baby.” Adding that her birth “made [him] want to live forever. He revealed that Chanel “made [him] create new goals, calling her “the best gift [he] could ever get.”

Ice-T received criticism for what he said during his appearance on the podcast. Users responded to his comments, claiming that it was unfair for the rapper to discuss the subject publicly. Many believed that although Ice-T claimed to have grown in his role as a father over the year, for his other children, it’s likely difficult to hear their father discussing the topic. One user wrote, “Let’s normalize saying things that won’t have children from previous relationships feel slighted.”

2 Chainz Says “Hell naw!” To Vegan Weed, Son Reveals A Booking Costs $50K

Over the weekend, Georgia rapper 2 Chainz shared his feelings on organic vegan weed in an episode of GQ‘s Most Expensivest. The series, hosted by the rapper, showcases him trying high-priced items and discussing them on the show. This episode was centered on organic weed. The rapper was also joined by comedian Sarah Silverman, and the two talked with cannabis cultivator Kyle Kushman. As they dsicuss the weed with Kushman, which he calls “Veganic,” he shares with 2 Chainz that it costs “pretty damn near a $1,000 an ounce.” 2 Chainz promptly shouted “What?!?” He went on to say, “Hell naw!” Asking, “A $1,000 for a zip? $1,000 for 28 grams?” “That s**t, sometimes when you make it that expensive, it make people want it, you know what I’m saying?” the rapper adds.

Kushman then revealed that he sold so much vegan weed that he didn’t leave his home for five years. He said, “People would come to my house and just bring me money.” The rapper responded to the entrepreneur with, “That’s trappin’! That’s trappin’! That’s trappin’, man!”

2 Chainz’s Son Says It Costs $50K to Book Him

In other news, the rapper’s son Halo also recently shared on the pair’s podcast Me and Halo that it costs a pretty penny for him to make an appearance. In the episode, he asks the 6-year-old how much he charges to be booked. Halo then responds to his father with, “Somebody wanna book me, I’m talking at least like $50,000.” He responds to his son’s answer, asking “50 grand? $50k?” He went on to say, “$50k to book Halo, man.” The child then said, “If not, at least $500.” The rapper laughs as his son later specifies, “If you got a lot of money, ten hundred or $500.” The boy doubled down with, “If you’re really really rich, I’m talking $50k.”

Last week, the rapper also shared another cute moment with his son on his Instagram. In the post, screenshots of text messages between the father and son show the boy responding to a photo of his dad, telling him he needs to “do some push-ups.” Halo is one of 2 Chainz’s three children he has with businesswoman Kesha Ward.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Goal Was To Not “Be F***ing Broke”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed on a podcast that becoming a professional actor was never his goal. He went on to explain that his goal instead was “just to never be broke.” In a clip from The Pivot podcast posted on Instagram, the Black Adam actor discusses his career. He additionally shares that finding success in acting wasn’t his goal in life. He describes how he never wanted to “make millions,” but just decided early on that he would “Scratch, claw, kick, bite and fight [his] way to have more than seven bucks.”

On the podcast hosted by Channing Crowder, Fred Taylor and Ryan Clark, the former professional athlete describes his childhood. Johnson shares that growing up, his parents worked incredibly hard. He further describes how after his father opened his own cleaning business, financial problems ultimately led to their family’s eviction. The stress also led to friction in the couple’s marriage. He went on to say that he “[didn’t] want that for them and [he] didn’t want that for [his] family.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Struggled Growing Up

The former WWE superstar explained “in the spirit of just being completely open” how after watching his parents struggle to make ends meet, he “used to tell [himself] specifically, ‘I cannot be f***ing broke.’” Johnson went on to describe his father as a hero in his life growing up, explaining his father’s own struggles of being kicked out at the age of 13 and dealing with other tension within their family. He outlines his father receiving death threats from his father, leading to his mother kicking him out of the house.
