Joe Budden Talks Slaughterhouse, Rory & Mal, Charlamagne Beef On ‘Drink Champs’

It’s time for another captivating episode of Drink Champs, and Joe Budden is comfortable in the hot seat. The rapper-turned-podcast giant knows what it’s like to be on both sides of the interviewing fence. So, when he sat with Noreaga and DJ EFN, he didn’t have a problem addressing controversial topics. The Joe Budden Podcast is a regular fixture on the ‘going viral’ news circuit, and Nore didn’t waste any time. We’ll have to wait a little longer for the entire conversation to hit streaming services, but the teaser is enough to get Hip Hop fans’ tongues wagging.

Drink Champs dropped off the teaser to Budden’s appearance, and it’s shaping to be a must-watch. Noreaga was excited for the sit down with the “Petty King” and asked Budden about his relationship with Charlamagne Tha God. “Nothing,” he said about The Breakfast Club host with a smile. “We just hate each other.” He also spoke on someone who wanted to produce him, but Budden admitted he isn’t easy to work with. He says he is “difficult to produce” because he knows his way around a studio setup.

Joe Budden Hit With Hard Questions

Budden’s tension with former podcast co-hosts Rory Farrell and Jamil “Mal” Clay was also discussed during the conversation. In 2021, the pair exited The Joe Budden Podcast bitterly and detailed their fallout with their longtime friend. N.O.R.E. questioned the “Pump It Up” hitmaker about where they all stand now, but we’ll have to wait for his full answer. It also looks like he’ll tackle all those Slaughterhouse questions, as well, so fans are waiting to hear what Budden reveals about his former collaborators…and Eminem. “I’ll take the blame. I’ll take it. I ruined everything. Everything that you love, I ruined that sh*t,” said Budden. Noreaga quickly joked, “I believe you.”

Elsewhere, Budden touched on the requests for him to return to the mic. “Nah, I think there’s a lot of people that either want to hear me rap or want to tear me down when I start rapping,” he said. Further, he addressed critics who have called him “mean” over his remarks. He denied being a cruel person but said he did “want people to continue to think that.” Check out the teaser above and let us know if you’ll be tuning in.

Joe Budden Doubles Down After Admitting He Likes Seeing Podcasters Fail

Joe Budden is in hot water, again. Over the years of The Joe Budden Podcast, the host has faced his fair share of backlash for numerous reasons. Some of them are valid while others feel contrived. Overall, he sparked many conversations due to his commentary. Most recently, he and fellow rapper-turned-podcaster, N.O.R.E., sat down for an in-depth conversation. However, their take on the state of podcasting undoubtedly ruffled many feathers, especially among those who followed a similar career path.

As the two personalities discussed the state of podcasting, they declared themselves pioneers in the field. Beyond that, they appeared to rejoice at the fact that many of their peers in rap failed to enter the podcast space. “You know what’s crazy? I’m looking at these rappers trying shows now, rappers from our era and they are so failing,” N.O.R.E said. Joe added, “You can’t take the blueprint and hire different contractors. They sellin’ ass out here huh?”

Joe Budden Responds To The Backlash

As social media piled onto Budden and N.O.R.E. for the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, it appears that Joe feels no way about the backlash. Shortly after fans expressed their disappointment, he chimed in and reiterated that he enjoys seeing people fail. “Statistics show that most of you are failing. From 2018 up until now, podcast creation is down over half – more than half,” he said. “Y’all n***as is failing. I like it. As somebody who dedicated his life to podcasting, and I’m not leaving no time soon, I like when all of y’all jump in the race and bump ya head a few times and run away ‘cause there ain’t no money in it.”

Though it appeared harsh, Joe had little remorse for those who haven’t prospered in the podcasting space. Shortly after his latest episode emerged, he doubled down in the comments and shrugged off the negative comments. “This 1 had ‘em in a frenzy a lil bit lol… But if you had the time to worry about me saying this…,” he wrote. There’s certainly an influx of rappers who turned to podcasting since the pandemic but ultimately, only a select few have proven to have the staying power. How do you feel about Joe’s comments? Since 2015, they’ve snagged interviews with the industry’s often elusive elite—including Dave Chappelle, Kanye West, and even Patti LaBelle.

Today (January 12), it was shared that Drink Champs was ushering in a new era. A press release also stated they’ve partnered with Interval Presents, Warner Music Group’s in-house podcasts network. This is a distribution partnership where Interval Presents “gained the exclusive licensing rights to the audio version of the podcast on all major podcast platforms.”

Math Hoffa Responds To Jim Jones’ “Best Podcasts” List

Math Hoffa has responded to Jim Jones‘ list of the “Best Podcasts of 2022.” The Harlem rapper placed his show last on the list, offending the host of My Expert Opinion.

“I mean this is the only independent podcast in the top ten,” Hoffa said during an episode with Troy Ave. “Jim you was wylin’. It’s okay, I got a little petty, you know I love ya, but yeah you just gotta give it up for the people who choose to take control of their own destiny and run their own business.”

Over My Expert Opinion, Jones ranked Drink Champs, Million Dollaz Worth of GameNo Jumper, The Joe Budden Podcast, and more.

Jones originally shared his list back in December, posting a notes app screenshot on Instagram.

“After considerable deliberation and numerous talks wit th top 10 committee we have finally decided on our top 10 pod casters of 2022,” he captioned the list. “If u feel u should have made the list hold tht thought till next year.”

Jones also defended his inclusion of Kai Cenat, admitting that he may not technically be a podcaster.

“Some might argue @kaicenat is not a pod caster but he interviews people so there for he has a component of pod casting goin in durin his show so yeah and he super Poppin to th young generation,” he said, defending his selection.

Another notable decision is the exclusion of Elliott Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller’s popular Rap Radar podcast. The show also has caught heat from Griselda in recent days.
