Jack Harlow has had a big 2023 already, but it looks like he is not slowing down anytime soon. Back in the early stages of the year, the Louisville, Kentucky rapper dropped his more lyrically-focused record, Jackman. It was an all-killer and no-filler type of album. With just 10 songs at around 24 minutes and change, Harlow was spitting about some personal battles, white men in the rap game, and more. LPs like that do not really do well numbers-wise and that was the case for him too. However, he seems to be going back to what he does best.

That is to make catchy singles that slowly work their way into your head. His latest crack at this formula is “Lovin On Me.” It draws heavy inspiration from one of Jack’s biggest idols, Drake. He nabs the melody from “The Motto,” and adds a little element of what makes him who is. The track is doing serious numbers right now, with over 65.5 million streams on Spotify already. After being out for two weeks, it takes over the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, according to Uproxx.

Jack Harlow And Tyla Have Bops

This now gives the 25-year-old his third consecutive number-one hit. The tracks to do this before it are “First Class” and “Industry Baby” with Lil Nas X. In another new development amongst the top 10, we have up-and-comer, Tyla, with her summer-ready groove, “Water.” This dropped back in July, but it has just reached the upper echelon of bops. It slips and slides right into the tenth spot. Tyla’s first bonafide breakthrough track is just over 200 million plays. Additionally, she just released some new versions with Travis Scott and Marshmello.

Bruno Mars is often considered a well-rounded artist- his singles, albums, and concert sales are often through the roof. Ever since his official debut as a solo artist in 2010, he’s been unstoppable. With a piercing vocal tone and a vibrant stage persona, Bruno Mars is one of the most prolific musicians of the modern age. While he’s come into his own as a musician, his debut showcased a softer side to his artistry.

While his most recent albums have shown him in a funkier, groovier light, Bruno Mars kicked off his solo career as a pop and R&B crooner. In particular, he became quite famous for his endearing and timeless love songs. In hindsight, perhaps that’s why his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans has remained the best-selling album of his career. Bruno Mars has since released more critically adored albums, but Doo-Wops still reigns supreme when it comes to commercial success.

A “Grenade” Of An Album

Bruno Mars’ debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, understandably didn’t make it to the top of the Billboard 200 charts. As a rising solo act, his fame wasn’t quite at its apex yet. Specifically, the album achieved first-week sales of 55,000. However, these moderate numbers would pale in comparison to the heights the album would eventually reach.

Doo-Wops & Hooligans has since been certified 7x Platinum in the US, selling over seven million units. Likewise, it also achieved a septuple-platinum certification in the UK for sales of over 2.1 million units. In the Philippines, Bruno Mars achieved an outstanding double-Diamond certification, and Doo-Wops is one of the best-selling albums in the country. This is as a result of over 300,000 units sold. Additionally, in Singapore, it achieved a 4x Platinum, selling over 40,000 copies.

In Europe, the album also enjoyed great success. For example, Denmark, Ireland, France, and Switzerland boasted 6x, 4x, 2x, and 2x Platinum certifications. In detail, the numbers of units sold were: 120,000, 60,000, 200,000, and 60,000 respectively. In Australia, the album sold over 280,000 copies, achieving a 4x Platinum, while in New Zealand, it sold over 150,000, scoring a 10x Platinum certification. Overall, of all the albums in his repertoire, Bruno Mars enjoyed a greater, widespread, global success with his first solo LP.

Everybody Loves A Good Love Song

As the 2010s ushered in a new wave of dance-pop tracks, Doo-Wops & Hooligans stuck to a winning formula- the classic serenade. While many albums began to house just one or two ballads, Bruno Mars opted for many, many more. His debut solo single, “Just the Way You Are,” became a chart-topping smash hit. Furthermore, it finished the 2011 calendar year as the best-selling digital single, with over 12.5 million units sold. It also won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Likewise, his next single, “Grenade,” achieved a similar feat, becoming the second best-selling digital single of 2011, with over 10.2 million units sold. Evidently, the world could not get enough of Bruno Mars’ swoon-worthy love songs. Altogether, the album was a masterclass in romantic progressions, vocal strength, and relatable lyrics.

She made the proclamation during a tweet addressed to her fans on Monday. “Dear Barbz,” Minaj began the post. “It just dawned on me; I am about to release one of the greatest albums of ALL TIME. Love always, Harajuku #Barbie.” The comments arrive as the project is due to release, next month.

The post had fans expectidly excited. One replied: “This album will go down in history as one of the biggest rap albums to ever takeover the 2020’s era. we are coming go break records upon records with this one queen.” Another wrote: “I’m soooooo excited the fact that we haven’t really heard any snippets is making me even more excited too.”

On that last point, it’s unclear if it’ll happen but still unlikely, but that wasn’t the only notable incident to come up on day one. Moreover, Fulton County Deputy District Attorney Adriane Love brought up a 2015 shooting that Lil Wayne’s tour bus suffered, allegedly at the hands of Thugger and YSL. If you weren’t aware of their beef, now you know to what extent it allegedly went to. Furthermore, she said that the convict in that case– Jimmy Winfrey– and others shot up the bus to show solidarity with Thugger after they went to Weezy’s show “locked and loaded” and did not secure clearance to enter.

“They unloaded bullets into the man’s tour bus,” Adriane Love remarked. “Bullets for nothing, except to show their dominance. There will be no evidence to show that Lil Wayne threatened either of them that night. But that act on the part of Jimmy Winfrey and the defendants before you today was intended to show their solidarity, their willingness to act on the behalf of– [and] their willingness to exact violence upon anyone who threatened the position of– the criminal street gang calling itself Young Slime Life.”

A Very Pregnant Sexyy Red Stages A Prison Break In Her Rebellious ‘Free My N****’ Video

Sexyy Red’s success so far has largely been an extension of her unapologetically, hilariously ratchet songs — and the videos that promote them. Her latest, “Free My N****,” is a worthy entry to the collection, continuing the tradition of not GAF and spitting memorable, tongue-in-cheek raps over a trunk-thumping beat.

In the video, the St. Louis native — who is pregnant with her second child — leads a group of marchers outside a prison, holding signs with some familiar slogans about law enforcement. Sexyy, clad in red lingerie, a dressing gown, and her signature glasses (along with that eye-catching Big Sexyy chain), shows off her baby bump while dancing atop a squad car and twerks in front of the prison phones while receiving appreciation from her incarcerated beau.

The action culminates with Sexyy disguising herself as a guard and staging a prison break — but not before what we’re forced to assume is an unauthorized conjugal visit.

“Free My N****” is ostensibly the first single from the upcoming deluxe version of her album, Hood Hottest Princess. Sexyy is presumably finishing that up once she’s wrapped her Hood Hottest Princess Tour, the final show of which is scheduled for Wednesday at The Fillmore in San Francisco.

50 Cent Continues Trolling Diddy Over Sexual Assault Lawsuits

50 Cent continued to troll Diddy on Instagram with another post referencing the Bad Boy mogul’s series of lawsuits on Monday. In doing so, he shared a clip from Screamfest ’07, in which he shakes his head in disapproval on stage as T.I. addresses Diddy and JAY-Z. In the caption, 50 jokes that he’s never been a fan of Diddy.

“20 machine guns, only get 10 months, Diddy in the Back, pattin on n***as butts,” 50 Cent wrote. “Nah I ain’t wit it, I ain’t never been wit it. Barz LOL.” Fans shared plenty of laughs in the comments section. One user wrote: “This man 50 is relentless! I would hate to be his enemy.”

The lawsuits against Diddy began with Cassie, who filed her’s against him, earlier this month, alleging physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. The two agreed on a settlement less than 24 hours later. Despite Diddy ending that legal action, two more victims have come forward with lawsuits of their own. His spokesperson denied both allegations in a statement provided to HipHopDX. They wrote: “These are fabricated claims falsely alleging misconduct from over 30 years ago and filed at the last minute. This is nothing but a money grab. Because of Mr. Combs’ fame and success, he is an easy target for anonymous accusers who lie without conscience or consequence for financial benefit. The New York Legislature surely did not intend or expect the Adult Survivors Act to be exploited by scammers. The public should be skeptical and not rush to accept these bogus allegations.”

Jokes aside, he must be a huge fan of the Golden Arches, because either impatience or the joy of being on a private jet would make most others eschew some fast food.

Then, of course, we have one of the most controversial songs of the year, “Vultures.” Some people are vibing with it, while others are disappointed in the final product. It is due mostly because of Kanye’s most talked about bar on the single.

“How I’m anti-Semitic? I just fucked a Jewish b****,” has been the talk of the town. The track was also getting a lot of people upset due to the fact that Durk was left off on the initial release. The Chicago drill rapper was pretty upset about it, according to Revolt. He said on an Instagram Story, “Be lucky I’m humble. Look at it as your blessing.” While some were mad at Kanye for not including Durk, we now have more background as to why. Durk’s label, Alamo Records, has had issues with the GOOD Music label before.
