Pharrell Crafts A “L’EGO Odyssey” On New Song For His “Piece By Piece” Biopic: Stream

Pharrell is celebrating the release of his LEGO biopic Piece By Piece and its accompanying soundtrack, featuring some of his best, biggest, and most iconic hits along with a few new records. Moreover, one of these is the “VIRGINIA BOY” remix with Tyler, The Creator, which fans were very receptive to given their chemistry. But don’t sleep on the expansive and wondrous “L’EGO Odyssey,” which combines the producer and fashion creative’s love of drama and atmosphere with some very interesting percussive choices, otherworldly synths, and his trademark earthy playfulness.

Furthermore, “L’EGO Odyssey” kicks off with a spotlit choir, followed by crisp Latin-inspired percussion and rubbery bass. The “Beautiful” star builds the progressive and ascending instrumental with string arrangements, quirky synths, bit-crushed hits of percussion, a brass section, and eventually, more grand and orchestral drums. In addition, it’s an easy song to get absolutely lost in, something that’s always been a quality of Pharrell’s vibrant and more ambitious production efforts. Fortunately, this being a soundtrack cut doesn’t make it as forced, clean, corporate, or corny as you might expect on paper.

What’s more is that the Virginia native has much more to look forward to soon, as he will co-chair the 2025 Met Gala alongside A$AP Rocky. In all his endeavors, Pharrell stays winning. Amid Jaguar Wright’s many salacious allegations, she’s also questioned Ray J’s relationship with Whitney Houston and speculated on her death, theories and statements that Ray was absolutely appalled by. “First off, I want to say Whitney Houston was a very special person in my life.” he told The Reality Check. “She has a very special place in my heart. […] I’m not going to talk s**t about you, Jaguar. But when you are creating these stories and pushing narratives with no real basis, it’s clear that you’re doing some kind of attention-chasing or you’re doing this s**t for clout. Or just for negative destruction, right? Is that about seeking the truth? You want to stir up the pot for your own gain?

6ix9ine Pledges To Stay “Squeaky Clean” After Signing Massive Deal

6ix9ine recently signed a massive deal with Kartel Records that seemingly aims to redirect his career and net him a wild bag. For those unaware, reports on the matter from TMZ indicate that he will receive $1 million to make a Spanish-language, ten-song album and will get $250K for each concert on a wide-spanning tour. All in all, this could net Tekashi around $6 million. But apparently, there’s also a clause in the contract that directs him to stay out of legal trouble as part of their deal. TMZ interviewed the artist to elaborate some more on these contract stipulations.

“It’s not a record deal,” 6ix9ine told TMZ, explaining how he sees the actual details of the Kartel Music partnership. “I think that’s what people – it’s an exclusive tour deal that I’m doing in Mexico, South America, and… Central America, South America, United States, and Mexico. Like, the exclusivity deal. Yeah, [there’s going to be a new album], but the album belongs to them. To Kartel Music. Because it’s like Mexican regional music. Like, tumbados and, you know, more – it’s nothing hip-hop.”

Then, the TMZ hosts asked about the clause that prompts him to stay clean and unproblematic, which you most likely think isn’t a characteristic that he’s embodied over the years. “No, [I’m not worried about staying out of trouble],” 6ix9ine answered. “Because, I mean, like, if you know 6ix9ine, you know now, like, I’m squeaky clean. Like, I stay out of trouble. It’s just, trouble seems – its way to find me all the time.” However, with all this as context, there’s no telling how the actual album or tour will shape up. Maybe it’s a big flop or it skyrockets him back into the mainstream consciousness.

Meanwhile, there is still a lot of animosity toward 6ix9ine in popular culture, so many folks couldn’t care less about this news or outright oppose his success. But amid many other conversations around people switching to other genres from hip-hop, as well as wider criticism of clout chasing antics and industry cash cows, his evolution and cultural relevance is still a curious tale to break down. Victoria Monet Dominates Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

R&B Season returns with the best the genre and its adjacent styles had to offer this week, with our latest update holding some curious gems. One of these is the deluxe version of Victoria Monet’s JAGUAR II, which features a couple of new tracks and a refreshing reminder of how good the original version was. We’d recommend you check out “1900’s” for a submerged, rich, and Michael-Jackson-tributing cut with a lot of personality and interesting timbral approaches. What’s more is that Monét also released a new Spotify Single with Bryson Tiller titled “We Might Even Be Falling In Love (Duet),” a reimagining of her previous song.

Next on R&B Season is “Porcelain” by JoJo, which mixes some classic soaring vocal melodies with rattling percussion and a subtle “I Wanna Rock” sample. It’s a bit of a drill flip as it goes along, but it never falls too deeply into that style to take away from the overall ethereal vibe of the track. On the other side of the spectrum, Honey Bxby’s new single “LEFT EYE” is more of a soulful cut with crisp drums and resonant string arrangements in the background. It also helps that Bxby’s charisma is very palpable here, working in some charismatic lines and vocal melodies.

Ironically enough, we have two other R&B-related deluxe editions to talk about. The first is the expanded version of BJ The Chicago Kid’s Gravy, which is even more tender now thanks to its extra additions. Also, one of 2023’s best got a revamp with Sampha’s deluxe release of Lahai. “Dancing Circles 2.0” not only speeds things up tempo-wise, but adds some frenetic drumming and gorgeous pianos to give the original song a more propulsive feel.

Finally, we wanted to shout out the latest track from City Fidelia, “Ring On Your Hand” with JYDN HILL. For the dancehall fans out there, this scratches that itch in a bit more of an icy and minimal way than usual while still emphasizing the beautiful vocal runs to bring that sunny atmosphere. However, Charlamagne Tha God doesn’t take these theories very seriously… Except when talking about the King of Pop, that is. “I’ve been hearing that theory about, you know, the corporations,” he began. “Listen, I could be totally wrong. I don’t think that there’s too many people that are important enough for a corporation to want to do all this to. And I really mean this when I say this, and I know that this is a crazy conspiracy theory. There’s only one person I believe in Hollywood who people conspired to actually take down. I’m talking about a mass conspiracy. Anytime they take you down, it’s people conspiring, ‘Cause it’s usually because you did some s**t.

“But I think that there’s one person who they really took down because he had too much power,” Charlamagne continued. “And I believe that person was Michael Jackson. I truly believe that. The reason I believe that is because – you can look into the story. You know, we had Deon Cole on The Breakfast Club the other day. Deon Cole told us the story of how he got high with Paul McCartney, and Paul McCartney told him. Paul McCartney and Michael used to be real cool. Paul was telling Michael, like, ‘Yo, you got to get your business together, you got to get your business right.’ He told him about the publishing game. Michael ended up getting so big that he bought The Beatles’ publishing. The Beatles’ publishing was worth so much that, literally, Sony gave Michael Jackson half of their publishing company just to own The Beatles’ catalog.

Sidem Ozturk Reveals Why She Moved To Jamaica Before Vybz Kartel Was Released

Sidem Ozturk may have chastised her fiancée when he flirted with fans online, but she’s still very dedicated to Vybz Kartel. Moreover, she recently joined Gucci Mane’s wife Keyshia Ka’oir for a new interview, during which Ka’oir asked Ozturk why she moved to Jamaica even before Kartel was released from prison. As you can see from the clip below, Gucci’s girl was pretty shocked and even perhaps impressed at this show of loyalty.

Given the federal case and various allegations against Diddy, many online are looking back throughout history to make note of his movement. They also seek out more celebrity connections in speculative fashion, as anyone talking about the Bad Boy mogul or interacting with him faces a very different context these days. This is the case for his bond with Justin Bieber, as TMZ recently obtained some throwback pictures of the two which have some fans raising their eyebrows. While the two appear quite close, with Sean Combs’ arm around the pop star in both instances, the connotations spreading online are all the product of allegations and speculation, so the snapshots don’t reflect any proof. With this in mind, take the pictures and what some fans are interpreting them as online with a huge grain of salt, as they only reflect allegations, not evidence. For those unaware of Diddy and Justin Bieber’s history, the latter was a second-generation protégé of the former for a bit, with Usher being their common link. They even collaborated sometimes, like on “Moments” off of The Love Album: Off The Grid. With this new wave of allegations and federal criminal charges, many online users scrutinized and called into question their relationship.

Meanwhile, Diddy’s ex bodyguard Gene Deal recently alleged that he sent Usher to the hospital, although none of Deal’s claims have been proved true at press time by a court of law. R Kelly’s Daughter Doesn’t Want Her Child To Meet Him

R. Kelly continues to serve his 30-year prison sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking charges, but new allegations will come forth soon. Moreover, the upcoming documentary R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey will focus on new allegations from his family, specifically from his daughter Joanne Kelly. In a trailer for the project, she reflects on her past bond with the singer and her current thoughts on his 2021 conviction. In addition, this piece will also apparently bring forth new allegations of misconduct from Joanne against her father, although the specific nature of these is unclear. However, she also looked to the future.

Furthermore, Joanne Kelly is pregnant at press time, and she spoke on how she plans to explain R. Kelly’s situation and actions to her family. “If my son asks questions, I’m going to be as truthful as possible. And I will not be taking my son to prison to meet his grandfather,” she expressed. In the past, much of the R&B star’s family has reckoned with his disturbing legacy and actions. Joanne’s other siblings, Jaah Kelly and Robert Kelly Jr., will also appear in this doc.

Naomi Campbell Clarifies Rihanna Beef Rumors

We’ve seen this year how far celebrity beefs can go, but we forget that so many of them are just rumors that don’t have much to go off of. Ironically enough, this fuels the idea of a feud even further. This was the case for Rihanna and Naomi Campbell, two superstars in their respective (multiple) fields that have crossed paths plenty of times before in amicable ways. Still, at one point in the road, fans speculated that there was a rift, possibly starting in 2017 due to their common ex, Hassan Jameel. However, Campbell recently dispelled these beef rumors outright.

“I’m not about to let the world pit two Black women against each other. We are two women with two children, mothers,” she reportedly stated, according to The Jasmine Brand. For those unaware, this narrative recently resurfaced due to Naomi Campbell and Rihanna crossing paths at an Alaïa show during New York Fashion Week. RiRi seemed to walk past Campbell and stylist Law Roach without saying hello, and a subsequent social media interaction between the pair had fans speculating that they were shading the Barbadian superstar in response.

At least now we know that these beef rumors are just hearsay. Also, Naomi Campbell has much larger problems to handle than a speculative Rihanna beef. She received a ban from her trustee position at her charity Fashion For Relief due to alleged financial misconduct, a disqualification that reportedly lasts five years per The Guardian. “Fashion for Relief, which has been removed from the register of charities, was set up for the purpose of poverty relief and advancing health and education by making grants to charities or other organizations and by giving resources directly to those affected,” the UK’s Charity Commission stated. “The inquiry saw no evidence that trustees had reviewed the charity’s operating model to ensure fundraising methods were in the charity’s best interest and costs were reasonable relative to income generated.”

Meanwhile, Rihanna recently bonded with another celebrity mom, Nicki Minaj, over an adorable video of her son RZA. If she and Naomi Campbell ever really get into it, we know how they could find common ground.

Beyonce Shows Off Her Curves For Underwear-Clad Levi’s Jeans Campaign

Beyonce is following up a whiskey brand launch with even more brand collaborations to spread COWBOY CARTER across pop culture. This time around, it’s a Levi’s partnership in the form of a commercial that recreates one of the iconic denim company’s most well-known advertisements. Apparently, this is the first of various promo videos they will work together on. In this one, she takes inspiration from a 1985 ad in which a male model takes his jeans off and stone-washes them with rocks at a laundromat. Queen Bey swaps the rocks out for diamonds in this one and bares her underwear as onlookers’ jaws hit the floor.

However, even without all these extracurriculars, a lot of fans expressed disappointment recently over how Beyoncé didn’t get her due flowers for COWBOY CARTER. For example, the People’s Choice Country Awards did not give her any awards despite her 17 nominations, and many felt that the people missed the mark with this one. Regardless of whether you think the album became overrated or not, its success and impact could’ve merited at least one accolade. Alas, that certainly hasn’t slowed the Texas native down.

Back to this Levi’s jeans ad, though, Beyoncé’s “LEVII’S JEANS” with Post Malone soundtracked it to no one’s surprise. “My song ‘LEVII’S JEANS’ celebrates what I believe is the ultimate Americana uniform – something we all wear with pride,” she expressed via a press release. “I am honored to work with Levi’s® to create quintessential American iconography. Meanwhile, Levi’s stated that this Beyonce partnership will hopefully. “connect with our fans in new ways and supporting the growth of our women’s business as the definitive denim lifestyle brand.” She still faces some controversy and backlash here and there as a massive star, but there’s no denying that anything with her name on it has a big chance to captivate and resonate.
