The Book of Clarence film and soundtrack produced by British multi-talent Jeymes Samuel are in full effect. The music is being talked about a lot in particular. That is thanks in large part to JAY-Z’s contributions. He and Roc Nation were catalysts in bringing both pieces of art to fruition and they are delivering in a big way. Again, the music is getting a lot of praise, especially the Doja Cat, Kodak Black, and Adekunle Gold track “JEEZU.”

Since the movie focuses on religious themes, so too does the music. Adekunle brings booming vocals right from the jump. Jeymes Samuel is a true artist. He can really do it all and he proves that with two important projects today. The UK native has just rolled out his brand-new movie, The Book of Clarence, and its accompanying soundtrack. Over the past couple of months, the updates surrounding these pieces of art have gotten plenty of people intrigued. That is especially true for music fans because JAY-Z had a major hand in putting this together.

Hov is the executive producer for the album and film and he did a great job in doing all of that. JAY and Roc Nation were able to recruit loads of talent for the sonics. You can find Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, and Kodak Black, across the tape. In fact, Jay-Z also hit the studio to record a unique verse for “I Want You Forever.” He is alongside the legend of neo-soul, D’Angelo to create a funky and wavy ballad.

There are so many layers to the song, even with the lyrics being fairly minimal outside of JAY’s portion. From the incredible singing from D’Angelo and the background vocalists to the high-pitched synths, and guitar solo at the end, it all works beautifully. Hov’s verse is quite different because it has to fit in with the soulful production. But, even in the twilight of his career, he does a masterful job. Oh, the song is also nine-plus minutes, but JAY is used to that, and we do not mind it.

Jay-Z And D’Angelo Announce New Song Coming This Week

Two legendary musicians from two different genres who don’t release music often are teaming up for a new single. The first is Jay-Z, whose last studio album 4:44 dropped in 2017. Hov hasn’t been completely silent since then though. The next year he teamed up with Beyonce as The Carters for a full collaborative album. Since then he’s popped up for a few notable features as well. He’s appeared on songs from Kanye West, Pusha T, Pharrell, and DJ Khaled since 2020.

The other artist is D’Angelo who has been far more reclusive. His last studio project is nearly a decade old. Black Messiah dropped in late 2014 and marked the R&B legend’s first new studio project since 2000’s Voodoo. Since then the only new song he’s released is a track called “Unshaken” which landed on the soundtrack for the video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Now D’Angelo and Jay-Z are coming together to collaborate on a brand new song. The track is called “I Want You Forever” and it’s also a collaboration with musician and filmmaker Jeymes Samuel. Samuel described the track as “nine minutes and 32 seconds of absolute soulful, biblical bliss.”

The new song is landing on the soundtrack for the upcoming film The Book Of Clarence. It’s part of a full soundtrack Samuel is releasing alongside the film. Jay-Z and D’Angelo aren’t the only notable contributors to the soundtrack either. Doja Cat. Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Kodak Black, Jorja Smith, and more are set to feature on the soundtrack accompanying The Book Of Clarence. The full soundtrack is due out for release later this week.

Additionally over the weekend, Jay-Z took home an Emmy for his directing work on Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show. He’s become a bit of a staple of the category for Directing A Variety Special with his Super Bowl shows landing among the nominees every year. Two musical legends in their respective genres will seemingly team up soon for an absolute opus of a song. Moreover, The Book Of Clarence‘s director Jeymes Samuel recently sat down with Elliott Wilson and none other than Jay-Z for a conversation. Hov produced this film, which centers around a man named Clarence who tries to replicate the adoration of Jesus Christ in 33 A.D. and claims to be another Messiah. During their talk, the London-born filmmaker revealed that a very exciting collaboration will appear on this movie’s soundtrack, which is expected to come out when it drops at all applicable theaters in the United States on Friday, January 12.

“It’s so deep,” Jeymes Samuel remarked to the crowd, who went wild with cheers after this next line. “We got D’Angelo and Jay-Z on the same track. Like, 9 minutes and 32 seconds of absolute, soulful, biblical bliss.” Of course, this is an incredibly exciting prospect, especially considering how rare it is for the soul icon to drop music these days. Furthermore, this also follows the Roc-A-Fella mogul’s recent remarks on whether or not he will drop more music in the future. As such, we really need to treasure this moment if it manifests, because we don’t know when something of this magnitude will happen again.

Whether Jay-Z or D’Angelo will drop another album is a mystery, but with what they’ve already done, they can coast off their craft as long as they live. What’s more is that the Richmond native has always had a strong tie to the rap game that makes this feel very natural. For example, he brought out Method Man and Redman (two former collaborators), plus more special guests for his Verzuz appearance.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn MC’s birthday might become a national holiday if the NYC Council gets its way. Titans like Big Daddy Kane expressed their support for the initiative, so we’ll see if it receives approval in public office. For our money, we’d throw the Voodoo creative into that ring, too. Sean Leon Releases An Emotional But Beautiful Tribute Album To His Late Brother With “In Loving Memory”

Sean Leon’s career has been long and not many people may know about that. The Canadian singer and rapper has been at it since 2013 and has not slowed down at all. Sure he may take a year or two off, but when he returns, it is in a big way. For example, after a few releases in 2014, Leon waited until 2017 to come back. But, he would give the fans three projects that year. He is making up for lost time once again after taking a break after 2018, to drop tree projects in the last year or so.

This one could be his most emotional one yet. In Loving Memory is a tribute album and a soundtrack all wrapped into one. His brother tragically lost his life in 2020 and he is remembering him in a big way. There will be (?) an accompanying film called House of Leon. There is not a whole lot of information on it. It could be out or it could not be. Regardless, this album is truly stunning.

Leon brings on some familiar faces like Daniel Caesar and Kanye West. There was a good amount of hype about this project for that reason. Leon appeared on Donda and Donda 2 and there was hope that the Chicago legend would have some vocal work on it.
