Jay-Z Releasing New Album In 2024, Director Hidji World Teases

Jay-Z shook the rap world when he released a collaboration with D’Angelo this year, but perhaps he’s not done. Moreover, director Hidji World -– who’s worked with A$AP Rocky, Metro Boomin, Future, and many more rap superstars -– recently teased a shoot he directed on Sunday (January 28) for a 2024 album from Hov. Of course, this is just speculative and largely based on the hopes of fans, as the New York legend himself hasn’t said anything. However, with a visual project on the cards labeled as a shoot for a project this year, we wouldn’t expect this to result in anything less than a ballistic listenership.

Furthermore, Jay-Z hasn’t dropped a full-length project since 2017’s excellent 4:44. Back when Gayle King interviewed him for CBS, he didn’t close the door on another album, but he did remark how it would have to be something really special for him to craft it and sink the necessary time into it. As such, perhaps the 54-year-old finally found that reason… or this is all just a troll to send folks wild online. These days, we can’t rule that out, and with a catalog and career as revered and successful as his, he doesn’t have anything else he owes us other than some social media spectacle.

Hidji World Teases Jay-Z Album In 2024

For the sake of Jay-Z fans (and the ears of any person who likes music), we hope we’re wrong about this probably being misdirection. Still, it begs the question: so what is Hidji World doing related to him that prompted him to tease this on his Instagram Story on Sunday? The “Can I Live” MC is busy collaborating with Moncler; what time does a billionaire have to make a new album, music video, or whatever else this is? We’ll probably find out in due time (after all, this has a 2024 expiration date), and when we do, even the smallest of career moves will surely excite fans.

Meanwhile, the rift between him and Dame Dash over Roc-A-Fella is still a raging battle, albeit a one-sided one. Jay’s got much more pressing problems to handle, and also a whole lot more success to find across his fields. But we can’t help but dream about a new album this year, as it’s what most people love him the most for. With that in mind, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Jay-Z.

Megan Thee Stallion Shaded By Vogue Director During Nicki Minaj’s IG Live

Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion’s feud is parting the celebrity world into two: the Hotties and the Barbz. Moreover, the latest person to get roped into the battle by these fanbases and viewers is Vogue director Sergio Kletnoy, who books celebrities for the magazine and is a main point of contact for them. As such, many folks questioned his comments during Minaj’s Instagram livestream on Friday (January 26), including a series of foot emojis. “Not ‘fragment foot’ lol not even a whole foot?” Kletnoy wrote during the session, referencing her “bullet fragment foot b***h” comment against the Houston rapper.

However, Kletnoy issued an apology on Saturday the 27th for Megan Thee Stallion and the fanbase following what seemed like explicit support for Nicki Minaj. “I am a huge music lover and support many artists (especially female artists),” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “Everyone who knows me knows I love Nicki, Megan and so many other musicians. I joined a livestream from one of my fave artists and was excited to hear there’s a new song from her. I made comments that unfortunately were taken the wrong way, I never meant to mock or insult anyone and have always been a fan of both women. My apologies if my comments offended or hurt anyone. Xo, S.”

Vogue Director Shades Megan Thee Stallion During Nicki Minaj’s Instagram Live

Still, some fans called out how comments like Sergio Kletnoy’s are harmful because of his editorial role in Vogue. If these biases play a part, assuming he did initially mean to mock Megan Thee Stallion, then it could shut out or discourage her from participation in the publication. Regardless, given the vague nature of Kletnoy’s remarks, perhaps he really didn’t intend for his comments to shade Meg. His love of Nicki Minaj was already apparent, though, as she did a cover for Vogue just a couple of months ago.

Sergio Kletnoy’s Apology

Meanwhile, with a response track on the way from the Trinidadian MC, it looks like this beef will only ramp up. Who do you think will come out on top in a lyrical exchange? Jay-Z & D’Angelo Collab To Appear On “The Book Of Clarence” Soundtrack

Two musical legends in their respective genres will seemingly team up soon for an absolute opus of a song. Moreover, The Book Of Clarence‘s director Jeymes Samuel recently sat down with Elliott Wilson and none other than Jay-Z for a conversation. Hov produced this film, which centers around a man named Clarence who tries to replicate the adoration of Jesus Christ in 33 A.D. and claims to be another Messiah. During their talk, the London-born filmmaker revealed that a very exciting collaboration will appear on this movie’s soundtrack, which is expected to come out when it drops at all applicable theaters in the United States on Friday, January 12.

“It’s so deep,” Jeymes Samuel remarked to the crowd, who went wild with cheers after this next line. “We got D’Angelo and Jay-Z on the same track. Like, 9 minutes and 32 seconds of absolute, soulful, biblical bliss.” Of course, this is an incredibly exciting prospect, especially considering how rare it is for the soul icon to drop music these days. Furthermore, this also follows the Roc-A-Fella mogul’s recent remarks on whether or not he will drop more music in the future. As such, we really need to treasure this moment if it manifests, because we don’t know when something of this magnitude will happen again.

Jeymes Samuel Announces Jay-Z & D’Angelo Collab: Watch

Whether Jay-Z or D’Angelo will drop another album is a mystery, but with what they’ve already done, they can coast off their craft as long as they live. When it comes to the fields of hip-hop and soul (and beyond) respectively, you’d be hard-pressed to find more acclaimed, respected, and accomplished artists. What’s more is that the Richmond native has always had a strong tie to the rap game that makes this feel very natural. For example, he brought out Method Man and Redman (two former collaborators), plus more special guests for his Verzuz appearance.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn MC’s birthday might become a national holiday if the NYC Council gets its way. Titans like Big Daddy Kane expressed their support for the initiative, so we’ll see if it receives approval in public office. For our money, we’d throw the Voodoo creative into that ring, too. Michael B. Jordan To Direct “Creed 4”

Michael B. Jordan will once again be stepping into the director’s chair for the next installment in the Creed franchise. Producer Irwin Winkler confirmed the news during Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event on Saturday, praising Jordan for doing a “great job” on the last film. In addition to directing, Jordan will still star in the movie.

“We are planning to do Creed IV right now,” Winkler said onstage during a panel for Creed III. “We have a really good story [and] a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production.”

Jordan made his directorial debut with Creed III. While he’s opted to do so again with the next film, Jordan did previously admit that it was a difficult task. While speaking with Collider, last year, he described it as “torture.” “It’s torture, but at the same time, it’s so much fun. It was the challenge of accomplishing it all, with the multitasking nature of developing the story, trying to stay in shape, and giving all the departments what they individually needed, to go do their job,” he told the outlet.

Irwin Winkler Confirms “Creed 4”

He continued: “It’s really hard to put into words. Every day was a struggle, but honestly, it was the team of people that I had around me that got me through it. You’ve really gotta surround yourself with the right help, so that you can focus on the things you need to focus on. Sometimes that’s doing two things at one time, or three things at one time. It’s just part of the job. Once you step behind the camera, the undertaking that it is, from the outside looking in, it’s tough.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Michael B. JAY-Z Praises Hype Williams & Says He Made “Can’t Knock the Hustle” Feel “Like Cinema”

JAY-Z heaped praise on Hype Williams during a rare interview with Complex published on Wednesday. The legendary rapper says Williams’ influence was responsible for 50 percent of the success of the music at the height of his career. The topic began with JAY-Z reflecting on the making of “Can’t Knock The Hustle.”

“‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’ felt like cinema,” JAY-Z told the outlet. “We also have to talk about Malik [Haseen Sayeed], the cinematographer Hype worked with. The cinematography was just so beautiful and the way it was shot it just elevated it to another level. We weren’t spending that sort of money then to finish the pyrotechnics. So when the limousine blows up it’s really janky, you know. But the vision and the cinematography was just beautiful and his eye was just different. The combination between Hype and June [Ambrose] elevated our look and feel. I remember people talking about how great a video it was.”

JAY-Z continued: “I would say that Hype could take credit for 50 percent of the success of the music at that time. If not 55 percent. We gave people an audio experience that they imagined in their mind and when he put those visuals to it, it took it to a whole new level. I remember hearing [Busta Rhymes’] ‘Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See’ on Hot 97 and thinking this song is crazy. We played it a thousand times that night. But when I saw the visual, I was like, oh, this is a rock n’ roll record. This is way bigger than a nice club song. This is a cultural moment for us.”

Hype Williams has directed music videos for many of the biggest artists in hip-hop over the years including Notorious B.I.G., LL Cool J, Boyz II Men, Wu-Tang Clan, 2Pac, Busta Rhymes, and many more. He also directed the cult classic 1998 film, Belly, which starred Nas and DMX.

Hype Williams’ 7 Best Music Videos

From a graffiti artist in Queens to a well-accomplished filmmaker, Hype Williams is an icon in the Hip Hop scene. The legendary director has undoubtedly been one of the most sought-after creative geniuses in the music industry for decades. Born Harold Williams, he rose to acclaim thanks to his ingenuity, as well as his impressive storytelling shorts. A classic example of his creativity and uniqueness is the music video for Busta Rhymes’ “Woo Hah.” Williams masterfully showcased his genius, giving birth to the cartoonishly magnified viewpoint of the rap songs from that era.

His work is known for its innovative visuals, high-energy editing, and star power. Williams’ clientele also cuts across some of the biggest names in Hip Hop and R&B, including The Notorious B.I.G., TLC, Missy Elliott, and Beyoncé. Overall, his work has had a lasting impact on the music video industry, and his videos continue to be enjoyed by many. Specifically, it is his artistic mind that earned him a 2017 recognition at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, as well as BET’s Best Director Award. Here are seven of Hype Williams’ best music videos:

7. The Notorious B.I.G. – “Big Poppa” (1994)

“Big Poppa” is one of the most iconic Hip Hop singles of all time. The song firmly helped establish Biggie’s reign as a singular influence in hip-hop. Moreover, the video is focused primarily on the Notorious B.I.G., the party, and the crowd to highlight what it means to be Big Poppa. The legend is seen in a variety of lush settings, from a private lounge to a mansion. Williams’ use of slow-motion and close-ups helps to create a sense of wealth, status, and power. The video also features cameo appearances from Sean Combs, Busta Rhymes, and Mary J Blige. Indeed, on paper, it’s a regular video about living the fast life. However, Williams’ direction tells a succinct story about who would later become one of the greatest MCs of all time.

6. Beyonce – “Drunk in Love” (2013)

Hype Williams has said that Beyoncé is his favorite artist to make videos for. The Grammy-winning “Drunk in Love” is a testament to their respective collaborative genius. The video uses a single location shot on the beach in Miami, as the two bounce off each other’s energies. In this simplistic, yet groundbreaking video, Hype Williams utilized close-up shots to evoke a sense of sensuality and desire. Beyoncé herself has also shared that the music video is one of her most personal, as it was her at her freest, at the time. In a chat with Out Magazine, she revealed that she didn’t want to overthink the video, and “really just tried to trust our instincts, embrace the moment, and keep it fun.” This evidently proved successful, as the music video is one of the most-watched in Williams’ catalog, with over 700 million YouTube views.

5. Kanye West – “Stronger”(2007)

Earning a diamond plaque in 2021, “Stronger” is a powerful and moving video that tells the story of Kanye West’s recovery in a technological medical facility. The video features West located in Japan, including in a hospital bed and a facility basement. In this iconic video, Hype Williams opted for symbolism and fade-out sequences. Consequently, this helped create a sense of emotional flashbacks and vulnerability.

4. TLC – “No Scrubs” (1999)

“No Scrubs” is a classic women’s empowerment anthem that still resonates today with its fun and catchy hook. The music video features TLC rejecting men who don’t meet their standards. To create this gem, Hype Williams used grayscale colors in order to make the singers pop. This helped create a captivating and empowering atmosphere where the singer looked and felt in control. The video also features a dance routine that is still imitated today, which is a testament to its legacy.

3. Kanye West – “Diamonds From Sierra Leone” (2005)

The music video for “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is an emotional and eye-opening one. It features Kanye West rapping about the strife of the oppressed and various institutions of the oppressor. The video covers the architectural layout of Prague, the oppressor, and their fondness for diamonds, as well as children in the background with bloody dark pupils. Williams uses black & white editing to emphasize certain emotions across the video and also to depict the race lens at the time.

2. 2Pac – “California Love” Ft. Dr. Dre (1995)

This West Coast anthem features 2Pac and Dr. Dre rapping about the beauty and danger of California. In the timeless video, the pair are seen saving women from the villains. The video immaculately embodies the set and styling of the 1985 Mad Max movie. Hype Williams also uses his storytelling expertise to expand on the partying and club lifestyle in the City of Angels. Furthermore, the use of both wide and aerial shots helps capture the “Wild West” theme. It is undeniably one of Williams’ most memorable videos in existence.

1. Missy Elliott – “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” (1997)

Missy Elliot has been at the forefront of innovative music videos since her debut. Notably, “The Rain” was a groundbreaking track from Missy’s 1997 album, Supa Dupa Fly. Consequently, the music video could also be argued to have helped launch her career as a visual artist. It was also Missy Elliott’s first project with Hype Williams. The video showed Missy rapping and dancing in a variety of futuristic and surreal settings. Most notably, the inflated black leather suit she dons remains a piece of pop culture over the decades. Elliott has since revealed the hilarious tidbit about the iconic suit. Williams’ use of special effects and innovative camera angles helped to create a visually stunning music video way ahead of its time.

Kai Cenat Directing A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Music Video, Shares BTS Footage

Kai Cenat is arguably the biggest streamer around, especially thanks to his prominence in the rap sphere as of late. For example, a video showed him joining A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie for a studio session, where the rapper previewed some new music for him. Apparently, the Twitch giant liked what he heard so much that he wanted to support his fellow New Yorker in bigger ways. Moreover, he recently uploaded behind-the-scenes footage of him on a music video set for A Boogie– one that he’s apparently directing. In the short clip, you can see the desired shot on the camera display, as well as various tech set-ups for lighting, sound, and much more.

While it’s a brief look into Kai Cenat’s directorial beginnings, it’s still exciting to see him level up while not losing touch with what propelled him to fame. After all, this week went wild with hilarious footage and juicy gossip surrounding his 24-hour stream with Offset. As such, it seems like the 21-year-old is balancing out those worlds quite well so far, opening big doors for himself along the way.

Kai Cenat At The Helm Of A Boogie’s Next MV

However, this shouldn’t be surprising at all for people well-versed in Kai Cenat’s content. The social media star recently broke into the film industry with his short film Global Pursuit, a buddy cop action comedy reminiscent of classics like Rush Hour. Not only that, but he even got a cameo from Lil Yachty for it, who’s done his part to boost Cenat’s profile in his own right. Yachty could’ve brought out anyone to perform during his Rolling Loud set, but he chose Kai.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how this MV plays out, and what the NYC native has planned for the future. Sure, his path to stardom hasn’t been without speed bumps, such as his chaotic giveaway event in his home city. That being said, that affects pretty much every celebrity at one point, and it surely won’t be the last controversy he has to face. One thing’s for sure, though: he wants to be much bigger than a reactor or content creator at this point. For more news and the latest updates on Kai Cenat and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, check back in with HNHH.

Kanye West’s Jonah Hill & “21 Jump Street” Post Gets Response From Directors

Kanye West’s return to Instagram, thanking Jonah Hill in the film 21 Jump Street for making him “like Jewish people again” got a response from the film’s directors. Moreover, it was a pretty weird and still incredibly tone deaf post that caused many to clown or further criticize him. Still, as many fans pointed out, he could’ve said much worse. “Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again,” the Chicago rapper wrote. “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people. No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew. Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

Furthermore, both Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (who directed the film) had cheeky, brief, and comical responses to Ye’s proclamation. “Um… thanks for watching?” Miller tweeted with a screenshot of the post in question. On his end, Lord retweeted and replied to a tweet asking if there’s anything the directing duo can’t do. “Laughter is the best medicine,” Phil commented in response. However, Hill hasn’t spoken on that message yet, presumably because he doesn’t have social media.

“21 Jump Street” Directors Respond To Kanye West

Of course, it was only a matter of time before Kanye made some form of a comeback on social media, if only in the literal sense. He’s been laying relatively low for the past few months, with his most discussed behavior being his paparazzi interactions while out with wife Bianca Censori. While he’s not making the explosive and combative statements that sent public goodwill through a downward spiral, this seemed backhanded to many out there. More than that, it doesn’t indicate any understanding of wrongdoing, although it’s the typical Gram antic from the Yeezy mogul at this point.

Meanwhile, Amber Rose and Julia Fox both shared their experiences dating the 45-year old on the latter’s Forbidden Fruits podcast. Moreover, they discussed his tendency to make everything about him, whether it’s playing his music all the time or being the most well-known person in the room. Regardless, it’s clear that some of that attitude translates into him believing his Jonah Hill shout-out was warranted. Check out Miller’s response below and, for the latest news and updates on Kanye West, stick around on HNHH.
