ATL Jacob Addresses Metro Boomin Diss Rumors

Metro Boomin has been in plenty of beef recently thanks to all the Drake shots on the WE DON’T TRUST YOU series with Future, plus some past tension. However, it seems like this negative energy kind of got the better of fans, and they’re now looking for more conflict wherever they can. Moreover, fellow producer ATL Jacob recently addressed claims from fans who thought that he dissed Metro on his latest beat. “F**K NO we ain’t doing that,” he responded to a fan who wanted to feed into this theory, and fans quickly followed with amused theories as to how someone could arrive at that conclusion in the first place.

Well, let’s break down why: the beat in question is for Nicki Minaj’s new “FTCU (Sleeze Mix)” featuring Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, and Chris Brown. We know Nicki and Sexyy are pretty firmly on Drake’s side, but La Flame and Breezy were both featured on Metro Boomin and Future’s album series this year, although they haven’t really picked a side on the matter. What people think ATL Jacob did was that he cut up a clip saying “F**k Metro Boomin” with his scratches on the song. Either that, or the tweet below suggests that the DJ scratching is a “diss” to what the St. Louis producer did on the title track of WE DON’T TRUST YOU… which is odd considering that this is literally one of the oldest techniques in hip-hop history, so why attribute it to one artist?

So it turns out that there are a few links to make here… but all of them add up to a pretty meager, random, and far-reaching case as to why ATL Jacob could’ve dissed Metro Boomin. Of course, the memes about Metro dissing Drake through some drums have been pretty funny, but we never thought that people would actually think that’s how a producer show-down would go. Elsewhere this year, though, Jacob got himself into some other conflictive situations with artists. One example is his dispute with Tems over the creation of Future and Drizzy’s “WAIT FOR U,” which samples one of her songs.

Childish Gambino Shuts Down Kid Cudi Feud: “Life’s Too Short”

Rap beef isn’t for everybody. It seems like every big game in the game is currently beefing, but Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover has no interest in participating. The rapper recently got on Instagram Live to promote his upcoming albums, and he made it clear that he doesn’t have any ill will towards Kid Cudi, despite rumors that the two of them are beefing. As far as Gambino is concerned, “life’s too short” to focus on dissing others.

Gambino was fielding questions toward the end of his IG Live, when a fan asked about the Cudi situation. The rapper took a beat before stating that he would prefer to sit down with Kid Cudi in person and hash things out then resort to making vague threats on wax. “Kid Cudi, if you got a problem, like, I’m not here for the beef,” Gambino asserted. “Just like, talk to me. … ‘Cause it’s like we don’t have to agree on everything but we also don’t have to be like, ‘When I see you, we have to wanna kill each other’.”

The alleged tension between Gambino and Cudi started in February 2024. A fan reached out to Cudi on Twitter and said they would love to see him and Gambino collaborate. “You and Gambino gotta work on something,” the fan wrote. “Whether it’s TV, movies, or music we’d love to see/hear it.” Evidently, Cudi was not interested. “I’m cool,” he responded. Gambino did not address the frigid exchange at the time, but his measured feelings on the matter via Instagram Live suggest there won’t be any mention of it in the future.

Childish Gambino tensions have been in the air for a lot of rappers recently. Tyler, The Creator talked about the “Redbone” rapper during his recent Coachella set, and admitted that he used to despise him. He told the crowd that was not a fan until he heard Gambino’s 2013 song “Urn,” but has loved his music ever since. “It was so undeniable, I was at conflict with myself,” Tyler admitted. “And now, the tables have turned and this n***a barely returns my calls.” The two artists are now on good terms, however, so there’s hope that a similar peace can be reached between Gambino and Cudi.

Offset Sends Birthday Shoutout To Quavo, Puts Feud Rumors To Rest

Offset posted a tribute for Quavo on his birthday, earlier this week. In doing so, he shared a photo of the two of them with their late Migos partner, Takeoff, from many years ago. He captioned the post: “Happy gday my brother @quavohuncho love you 4L [for life].” It comes despite longstanding rumors of anonymity between the two.

The rappers previously linked up to honor Takeoff at the 2023 Grammy Awards, although that didn’t seem to resolve the differences entirely. Rumors later surfaced that they got into a fight backstage. Months later, they reunited again for a performance at the BET Awards.

Offset finally spoke at length about the situation during an appearance on The Breakfast Club in October. He labeled Quavo his brother and said that “it’s all love.” “I don’t feel like I owe it to people to show how much me and bro love each other,” he explained at the time. “We went through something, we don’t have to show you smiles on faces … so stop doing that. We aint on no sucker sh*t with each other, we both came in this sh*t together and we both knew that, we understood that, and we lost our brother. I still go through sh*t; I know bro go through sh*t, N****s love each other though at the end of the day. We men, we real brothers, and we cool with it, so be cool with it. Don’t ever try and turn us against each other. I hate that sh*t. At the end of the day, it ain’t your business.”

Metro Boomin is one of the most successful producers of all time, but especially over the last year and change. Since 2022’s HEROES & VILLAINS, the St. Louis, Missouri beat crafter has continued to churn number one record after number one record. In fact, he just scored his fourth top charting project on the Billboard Hot 200 with WE DON’T TRUST YOU. It sold 251,000 units in its first week, making it the biggest debut of 2024 overall so far. However, even with all the well-earned acclaim, Metro Boomin still feels some people are “scared” to show it love.

A tweet from the hitmaker has been gaining some attention overnight in which he puts unnamed people on blast. Shortly after him and Future grabbed the top of both the Hot 200 and 100, Metro tweeted, “I see a lot of niggas been scared to post the album too#IForgiveButIDontForget #WEDONTTRUSTYOU” Fans got to speculation and theory in the comments section as to who this could be for possibly. The obvious victim that people were throwing around was Drake since of the “Like That” diss from Kendrick Lamar.

However, there is a fairly large camp that feels 21 Savage could be in the crosshairs as well. We believe that could have something to do with the Georgia rapper being close with Drake, especially after Her Loss. If you remember that album was getting more praise than H&V and Metro was not too happy about it. In the same breath it would also be a big switch up in tone about one the producer’s most frequent collaborators. They just worked pretty closely together on Savage’s 2024 record american dream. It has been such a smashing success not only for the genre to bring that competitive nature back, but also for the charts. Metro Boomin and Future’s WE DON’T TRUST YOU will be at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 200. Additionally, “Like That,” the song with incredible K-Dot verse, is also poised to reach the top of the Hot 100. Drake has been sending some low-key responses toward the Cali MC as of late, but Travis Scott is also receiving some shots as well.

That is at least what some people are speculating online anyway, after a recent It’s All A Blur – Big As The What? Tour performance. Drake was playing his most recent collaboration with Travis Scott, “MELTDOWN,” from UTOPIA. According to some footage from the show gathered from TMZ Hip Hop, he sent some “gunfire” at a head prop of Travis. Apparently, he does it at every show when Drizzy’s lyric, “Like TV producers we, grr, we airing this s***,” comes up.

There are some theories floating around that Drake now has beef with one of his biggest collaborators because of this. One of the main arguments for this is because Travis was begging Metro and Future to play “Like That” at Rolling Loud before the album dropped. Scott is not the only rapper “taking a side” in this feud between Dot and Drake. Rick Ross was also seen playing the track while riding in the back of his car. Latto & Nicki Minaj Shade Rumors Continue With Former’s New Snippet

Another day, another chapter in the Nicki Minaj and Latto beef saga, one that keeps on giving despite both femcee’s efforts to reach across the aisle to other female artists. Moreover, this time around, it stems from the latter’s bar about “auntie hatin’, she burnt” on a new snippet of an upcoming collab with Anycia. Of course, this is just fan speculation, as there’s no shortage of alleged shots between these two and this is just as vague as the last couple of examples die-hards theorized. Still, it inspired as much debate as ever on social media, and continues the sad trend of always putting female rappers in a battlefield in ways that we don’t often do with male MCs.

Regardless, what’s done is done, and this feud was actually pretty direct at one point, originating over discrepancies in categorizations for award nominations that involved personal criticism from one to the other. As such, we can’t really blame fans for looking for these connections between Latto and Nicki Minaj, and they’ve even roped in plenty of other artists. For example, people think that Ice Spice has a feud with the 777 hitmaker, although that’s even more speculative and rumored than the battle with the Barbz. Whether there’s any weight behind this or not, another typical and unfortunate thing about these matchups is that, when fans pick a side, it’s hard for artists not to beef because of how much their supporters are feeding the narrative, and that goes for any artist in these situations.

Metro Boomin Denies Drake Beef

To close out 2023, it looks like we finally have somewhat of a resolution to one of the year’s most rumored, subliminal, and surprising beefs. Moreover, you’ve definitely heard by now that Metro Boomin and Drake, according to many fans, threw shots at each other in recent times. This stemmed from the former complaining that the latter’s Her Loss won in rap album categories in award shows and rankings over Metro’s HEROES & VILLAINS. Then, the 6ix God seemed to respond in a Stake stream, and more cryptic social media activity had fans crafting theories and connecting presumed dots. But according to the St. Louis native, people took this way too far.

Furthermore, he recently spent some time answering fan questions on Twitter, as he’s usually very active on the platform. Specifically, Metro Boomin chose to indulge one listener’s inquiry about the supposed Drake beef and put an end to the rumors. “Are u and Drake seriously beefing or is it not that deep,” the user asked him. “Not deep at all lmao,” the 30-year-old replied. While he said it’s not deep, he technically didn’t say it was nonexistent, so fans will surely keep making assumptions despite this shutdown. Regardless, the “Metro Spider” beatsmith has bigger things on his mind right now, like officially claiming the most streamed rap album in 2023.

Of course, the two have collaborated often in the past– in fact, Metro Boomin even has a beat on Her Loss. As such, maybe one more collaborative effort will squash this once and for all, or once the Grammys roll around and they have to congratulate each other or sympathize with each other’s losses to either Travis Scott, Killer Mike, or Nas. Only time will tell, but we might get an answer soon. The Boominati boss recently teased new music with Paul Wall, so he’ll probably have plenty of chances in 2024 to throw Drake on a song or to have him hop on one of his beats.

Recently, Gillie Da Kid went on his podcast, Million Dollaz Worth of Game, and talked about how he wanted to see both rappers become civil. How he wants to go about it, is seeing them perform at Gillie Fest. According to the clip from his show, provided by HipHopDX, Gillie said this. He goes, “If both of them could hit the stage in the same night, it could show the young’uns that that s*** ain’t that serious. The beef ain’t that serious. None of this drama is that serious.”

NBA said he was more than down to do it, even with his house arrest going on. “Get them to let me out this house and I hit that stage for ya.” However, somehow, some people seemed to think the beef was reinstated after Lil Durk said he was lying about his house address in an Instagram Story. But, due to NBA’s rules regarding his arrest, he is not able to give out his information. He explained this in an IG Story.

G Herbo Denies IG Rant Was About Chris Brown, Breezy Backs Him Up

Both G Herbo and Chris Brown have dismissed any speculation that there is any bad blood between them. Fans first theorized that this may be the case after Herbo said “Imma slap the f-ck outta you” in an Instagram Story post that appeared to be responding to an interview by Brown in which he asked Funny Marco about being “bullied” by Herbo and Southside. However, Herbo denied this. “Im not talking bout no f-cking Chris. Stop posting this gang y’all reaching,” he wrote in the comments.

Furthermore, a separate post from Brown himself appeared to corroborate the Chicago rapper’s sentiment. “Y’all gotta chill wit the negative sh-t. HERBO IS MY REAL BLOODA. NOW YALL CAN GO LISTEN TO THE ALBUM AND CHILL DA F-CK OUT. JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZUZZZ CHRIST,” Brown wrote on his own story. That should put any rumblings of a feud to bed, given that neither man in the “beef” appears to think there is one.

However, the allegations of beef with Breezy aren’t the only thing that people are coming after Herbo for. He recently took part in a YouTube dating show hosted by No Luv Mar. Entitled “20 WOMEN VS 1 RAPPER: G HERBO”, the show featured Herbo trying to find a new romantic partner before he heads to prison. However, while Herbo left the show alone, one interaction will stay with fans. The rapper cursed out one women after she asked him where he was from. The Chicago rapper was pretty offended that she didn”t know beforehand. “You ain’t look up nothing? Bye! How the f-ck you don’t know where I’m from and you talking to me? Get the f-ck on, bye!”

That wasn’t the end of the interaction, however, as the women didn’t leave without some parting shots of her own. “You could get the f-ck on! How the hell am I supposed to know where the f-ck you from? Don’t nobody know about you. Ain’t nobody looking sh*t up. Fuck you, n-gga. Light-skin a–. You look like Latto with your light-skin a–. Why your hairline so far back?” Regardless, as mentioned, he doesn’t have a lot of time for love right now. He is expected to begin a five-year prison sentence for fraud in the next few months.

Jay Rock Refutes Rumors Of Internal Drama At TDE Label

Across the past decade plus, Top Dawg Entertainment has been home to some of the most interesting acts in all of rap and R&B. Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, and Jay Rock have been the faces of TDE for a while now. But last year, Kendrick Lamar announced his departure from Top Dawg with his album Mr. Morale And The Big Steppers serving as his final release from the label.

Another one of the label’s artists, Reason, sparked controversy of his own earlier this year. He publicly spoke on some of the ways he felt they mishandled his new album rollout which caused rumors of behind-the-scenes tension to emerge. But during a recent interview, Jay Rock shut a lot of that speculation down. “People love starting rumors and spreading all type of, you know… I call it bad ink. Sometimes people like to write in bad ink, you feel me? Especially on blog sites and different internet things,” Rock said to discredit a lot of the rumors. Jay Rock went on to say even more about the current state of TDE. “But we all good, though. The family, TDE family, despite what everybody’s saying — the breakup — everybody’s all good,” Rock said. He also clarified that he’s still close with Kendrick Lamar even after Kendrick left the label. “That’s my little brother. I hollered at him the other day. That’s still bro. Ain’t nothing changed.”

Last month, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul teamed up for a new track. It’s the first time in eight years that the pair of label mates have collaborated on a song together.
