Cardi B and Pardison Fontaine have been linked to each other for quite a few years. Both rappers have worked extensively together, with the latter helping the femcee write some of most recognizable hits. Some of those include “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion, “Money,” “Up,” and even “Bodak Yellow.” Pardi has also been quoted numerous times, praising the gritty New York hitmaker. “Cardi’s a genius, period – on so many levels. I say this all the time. She would’ve been a star no matter what she chose to do,” Fontaine said.

“She would have been a star. That’s what she is. She really pioneered a lot of the energy that you see on the internet right now.” With the two artists having so much mutual respect for one another, it was no surprise to see them in the recording booth recently. During an Instagram Live session, she taught fans a dance for “Boy Bye” ahead of its release, commented on her body, and advised them to get their squat reps in before trying her moves out.

Don Toliver just dropped “Bandit” last month, and with a new previewed track, it seems like he’s got a lot more coming. Moreover, new snippets emerged from his social media accounts that are circulating online over his next song “Deep In The Water,” which will reportedly come out next Friday (March 15) and features his boo Kali Uchis amid some pretty visuals. Sonically, the teased portions are pretty moody and deeply trap and sultry R&B-inspired, as expected from the Cactus Jack artist. His previous single was more of a hard-hitter, so whatever this woozy direction is, it seems like it will be well-balanced.

Not only that, but Don Toliver also appeared in one of the many tracks, both old and new, that Ye and Ty Dolla $ign played at their recent VULTURES 2 listening event. The track reportedly goes by “VENOM / FIELD TRIP” and also features Playboi Carti and Lil Durk. From what these short clips indicated, it looks to be another banger with his soaring vocals taking up much of the space in it. Whether or not the album will drop soon is another story, but it’s definitely in the cards and will likely please fans whenever it lands.

His ability to get people talking is uncanny and that was the case with “J CHRIST.” It is the lead single to the Georgia artist’s forthcoming sophomore record that has no release date or title yet. Months and months before the semi-gospel-inspired cut hit streaming services, it was receiving massive amounts of backlash. The main reason is because of Nas X’s comments online.

Many felt he was disrespectful toward the religion and the people who practice it. However, even though so much controversy was swirling around the release there was little doubt it would have a mediocre debut. But, that turned out to be case. Lil Nas X’s “J CHRIST” landed at number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is still doing numbers regardless, though.

Maybe this time around for him will be different. Uproxx recently reported that Nas X announced a second single “Where Do We Go Now?” and it will drop this Friday, January 26. It could be a sign the album is dropping soon. Or, this has the potential to be somewhat of a response to all the people who were upset with him over “J CHRIST.” Especially with the caption, Nas X could be hinting at that and is trying to get under fans’ skin.

Moreover, on Saturday (January 20), under heavy snow and a lot of layers, she danced to her upcoming single “Wanna Come Through,” which producer Mike WiLL Made-It hyped up in the Instagram comments section. It’s a pretty fitting cut for the visual, with wintery synths, mid-tempo trap percussion, and soft vocal melodies, so at least we know it’ll fit for the season. After all, the Massachusetts MC’s prolific social media presence and release schedule means she’s always got something to bring for any temperature.

Furthermore, a lot of people are becoming more and more of a fan of Coi Leray’s style and aesthetic, especially from a performance standpoint. She’s been throwing it back for the ‘Gram for a while now, and there certainly aren’t as many haters as there were when she first started doing so. Folks may remember when Busta Rhymes had to defend his collaboration with Coi Leray against her own father Benzino after he called Busta out for including her “half-naked” in its music video. “My thing first and foremost is Benzino has my number and he knows how to reach me,” he expressed on Way Up With Angela Yee. “You ain’t gotta address me about nothing on no social media ‘cause you got my phone number. Another day, another chapter in the Nicki Minaj and Latto beef saga, one that keeps on giving despite both femcee’s efforts to reach across the aisle to other female artists. Moreover, this time around, it stems from the latter’s bar about “auntie hatin’, she burnt” on a new snippet of an upcoming collab with Anycia. Of course, this is just fan speculation, as there’s no shortage of alleged shots between these two and this is just as vague as the last couple of examples die-hards theorized. Still, it inspired as much debate as ever on social media, and continues the sad trend of always putting female rappers in a battlefield in ways that we don’t often do with male MCs.

Regardless, what’s done is done, and this feud was actually pretty direct at one point, originating over discrepancies in categorizations for award nominations that involved personal criticism from one to the other. As such, we can’t really blame fans for looking for these connections between Latto and Nicki Minaj, and they’ve even roped in plenty of other artists. For example, people think that Ice Spice has a feud with the 777 hitmaker, although that’s even more speculative and rumored than the battle with the Barbz. Whether there’s any weight behind this or not, another typical and unfortunate thing about these matchups is that, when fans pick a side, it’s hard for artists not to beef because of how much their supporters are feeding the narrative, and that goes for any artist in these situations.

On Friday, November 17, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne are going to be releasing their sequel to their 2016 collaborative record, COLLEGROVE. It is crazy to think that it has been seven years since that album came out. But, the wait is nearly over and we are absolutely stoked to see what these two legends have to offer. It is clear that they still have plenty left in the tank. Lil Wayne has especially been on a tear as of late. He has come out with a precursor project with Tha Fix Before The VI.

Additionally, his feature game has been insane as well. “Brand New,” “Big Dog,” and “Never Die,” are just a few terrific examples of Weezy going back to his roots with his clever one-liners. Now, he and 2 Chainz are looking to bring that same energy and wordplay to Welcome 2 Collegrove. We already got “Presha” not too long ago and now we have one more coming on Friday, November 10.

On top of this buzz, he is also getting shoutouts from the newly elected Kentucky governor. According to Billboard, Andy Beshear, a Democrat, won the election yesterday. It was a surprise, seeing as the state is usually Republican. In his winning and impassioned speech, he shouted out the Louisville native. “A choice to reject Team R or Team D, and to state clearly that we are one Team Kentucky. A choice of Jack Harlow over Sarah Huckabee Sanders.” Sarah was endorsing the Trump-backed Daniel Cameron which is why Beshear said it this way. Andy and Jack’s relationship dates back to 2022 and they have remained in touch since then.

Jay Rock Reveals He Will Be Dropping A New Song With Ab-Soul This Friday

Both artists are known to be fairly infrequent when it comes to pushing out new material. However, that has not been the case as of late. Just last year Ab put out his first record in six years with HERBERT. Then, just a few weeks ago, he and T.F joined up for a single, “Hidden Stages.” For Jay Rock, he is getting closer and closer to ending his album drought.

The Los Angeles, California rapper’s last effort was in 2018 with Redemption. Since then, he has been a part of a single with REASON called “At It Again – Remix.” Following that he put out two tracks that are expected to land on his upcoming LP, Eastside Johnny*. There is no word on the release date, but hopefully, the time is near. Jay teamed up with Kal Banx on “Eastside,” and then with Anderson .Paak and Latto on, “Too Fast (Pull Over).” Finally, just a few weeks back he dropped some personal bars on a YouTube exclusive freestyle.
