Killer Mike Reveals He Chose Rap Over Being A Pilot

Killer Mike has been a prominent figure in the hip-hop industry for over two decades. However, he almost chose a very different path. Recently, Mike opened up about a significant turning point in his career. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he revealed that he had once considered a different career. During his fourth-grade year, his teacher suggested that he should become a pilot instead of a rapper. She believed Mike was too intelligent for the music industry. Intrigued by the idea, Killer Mike enrolled in flight school. He did so alongside Slim from the R&B group 112. However, their venture into aviation did not materialize as expected, and Killer Mike eventually returned to his true passion for rap.

Despite facing obstacles and self-doubt along the way, Killer Mike persevered in his rap career. He recently reflected on the impact of his first record deal with Columbia Records. His debut album, Monster, sold over 500,000 copies in the United States. However, it received a lukewarm reception compared to the tremendous success of his contemporaries. 50 Cent, for example, sold almost 10 million copies of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Killer Mike admitted that the experience left him feeling damaged and apprehensive. However, it also led him to realize that he felt more comfortable and authentic operating within independent circles.

The updates from YNW Melly’s double murder trial have been coming out fast and furious since things began in Broward County on Monday (June 12). Aside from the interesting testimony, viral moments have included Boosie Badazz’s presence in the courtroom (though he was arrested on unknown federal charges on Wednesday), as well as Melly’s attorney’s questionable notebook. The accused killer himself got the internet talking after he appeared to both cry and pray. On Thursday (June 15), the prosecution called Melly’s ex-girlfriend’s mother to the stand. During her testimony, the woman made it abundantly clear that she wasn’t feeling entirely comfortable speaking about the incident, but doesn’t want to lie on the stand and go to jail as a result. “I’m saying what you want me to say,” the witness stated earlier this afternoon. “I do remember that they bullied me and threatened my daughter,” she specifically noted of the law enforcement they dealt with after the murders of YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser.

YNW Melly’s Double Murder Trial Continues

YK Osiris’ Treatment Of Sukihana Gets Slammed By Wack 100

The Internet is becoming increasingly and unfortunately divided over YK Osiris’ unwanted advances towards Sukihana, who he grabbed and repeatedly tried to kiss despite her reluctance while she commentated a basketball game. Instead of scolding the artist for his behavior, defending the Delaware native’s rights, and acknowledging the violation of them, many instead focused on the reaction to these actions, labeling it another witch hunt and asking people to downplay what happened. No such reaction came from Wack 100, though, who had strong words for Osiris. Via Instagram, he defended the “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” star and called out those defending the rapper.

“@ykosiris I’ve been knowing you for a while,” Wack 100’s message began. “But for this you need ya a** whooped! Those men that sat there & watched that were in arms reach y’all COWARDS as well! So what if a women works at a strip club. So what if she has a only fans doing whatever, so what if she raps songs about how good something is. That gives no man the right to force themselves on any women. @meekmill if you ain’t gone check @ykosiris publicly don’t ask this woman to look the other way publicly. They make a few places for people like this… prison, ER, mortuary.”

Wack 100 Slams YK Osiris

Many criticized Wack 100’s response not because they disagreed, but because his artist Blueface is known to mistreat women as well. In the hours since the incident made headlines, YK Osiris apologized for his actions. “I want to publicly offer my sincerest apology to Sukihana,” he posted on Instagram. “In an attempt to be playful, I misread the moment and violated Sukihana’s boundaries. I understand the importance of consent and I am embarrassed by my behavior, I take full responsibility and have made multiple attempts to apologize. I have the utmost admiration for Sukihana and it was never my intention to disrespect her.”

Said apology came soon after Sukihana deleted her Twitter account, an action that followed a series of tweets seemingly addressing the situation. In them, she expressed feeling “hurt and scared to stand up for” herself, “crying all day,” once using alcohol to cope and then leaving it behind, and feeling the need to disappear for some time. Her mother slammed the rapper’s apology as “fake” in a since-deleted post. No matter your take on the situation, two wrongs don’t make a right, and certainly don’t warrant attacks on Sukihana or her family for what happened.
