Gunna’s Former Attorney Slams Claims That The Rapper ‘Dry-Snitched’ On Young Thug In The YSL RICO Case

With the YSL RICO trial officially over, fans eagerly anticipated new music from Young Thug. The rapper’s first post-jail verse arrived today (January 3) by way of Lil Baby’s “Dum, Dumb And Dumber.” Supporters could expect a full-length project from Thugger soon thanks to a hint recently posted online.

Still, the chance of hearing Young Thug and Gunna together again is unlikely, as their friendship is seemingly on the outs. Users online speculate that Gunna’s plea deal could have contributed to the rift. However, today, Gunna’s former attorney, Steve Sadow, dispelled that rumor and shut down claims that the “Got Damn” rapper “dry-snitched” on Young Thug in the YSL RICO case.

“I was Gunna’s attorney, but I am NOT speaking on his behalf,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “This long post is solely to set out the truth. Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to cause harm to Thug’s case. He spent 8 months in jail and was released in Dec. 2022 after entering an Alford plea.”

Sadow went on to explain the legalities behind the arrangement, writing: “Gunna’s plea could not and was not used at Thug’s trial, and he was never even named as a witness. He received a 5-yr suspended sentence, with no reporting, no travel restrictions, no living restrictions, AND NO PROBATION. Over the last two years, from media reports, he has performed all over the world, achieved international fame and recognition, and earned millions of dollars.”

He then contrasted Young Thug’s deal with the courts. “Conversely, Thug went to trial and eventually pled guilty and nolo after spending 30-months in jail, received 15 years probation, with reporting conditions and is not even allowed to live in Atlanta,” he wrote. “THOSE THAT HAVE AND CONTINUE TO BAD MOUTH GUNNA, GET OVER IT. NUFF’ SAID.”

To wrap up his statement, Sadow slammed those who continue to label Gunna as a “snitch.” “Love the street rules and the dry-snitched comments,” he wrote. “Oh, the fake outrage, same old sh*t. Both were charged with RICO. Both faced 20 yrs in prison. Both pled to RICO. Regardless, I’m more than willing to accept the blame for the great deal.”

Gunna’s Lawyer Claims He Did Not Snitch Amid Alleged Young Thug & Lil Baby Disses

While the world continues to theorize and speculate, Gunna’s attorney Steve Sadow has seemingly had enough of all this conversation around his client being a snitch in the YSL RICO case. For those unaware, his plea deal in that trial caused a lot of controversy, especially after footage emerged of him affirming many of the prosecution’s presumptions of the YSL collective. The most recent example of this discourse is Young Thug’s verse on the new Lil Baby song “Dum, Dumb, And Dumber” – also featuring Future – and how Thugger allegedly dissed Wunna on the track. Moreover, Sadow took to Twitter to respond to this verse and to all the reactions around it, making his case as to why the One Of Wun MC’s participation in the YSL RICO trial does not constitute snitching at all.

“I was Gunna’s attorney but I am NOT speaking on his behalf,” Steve Sadow tweeted on Friday (January 3). “This long post is solely to set out the truth. Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to cause harm to Thug’s case. He spent 8 months in jail and was released in Dec. 2022 after entering an Alford plea. Gunna’s plea could not and was not used at Thug’s trial and he was never even named as a witness. He received a 5-yr suspended sentence, with no reporting, no travel restrictions, no living restrictions, AND NO PROBATION.

Gunna’s Attorney Dismisses Snitching Allegations

“Over the last two years, from media reports, he has performed all over the world, achieved international fame and recognition, and earned millions of dollars,” Steve Sadow continued concerning Gunna. “Conversely, Thug went to trial and eventually pled guilty and nolo after spending 30-months in jail, received 15 years probation, with reporting conditions and is not even allowed to live in Atlanta. THOSE THAT HAVE AND CONTINUE TO BAD MOUTH GUNNA, GET OVER IT. NUFF’ SAID.”

“Love the street rules and the dry-snitched comments,” Steve Sadow added about the Gunna situation in a follow-up tweet. “Oh the fake outrage, same old s**t. Both were charged with RICO. Both faced 20 yrs in prison, both pled to RICO. Regardless, I’m more than willing to accept the blame for the great deal.”

Trae Tha Truth Recruits Busta Rhymes, Chance The Rapper, DMX, And More For “I’m On 4.0”

Trae Tha Truth has a lot to celebrate this week. On New Year’s Day, the Houston rapper got a call that would bring any parent to their knees and cry tears of joy. Toward the latter third of 2024, the veteran MC reported his six-year-old daughter Truth missing. But at the turn of 2025, authorities let him know that she’s safe. Trae dropped her off to the mother, Heather Cuevas, in August for a two-day visitation. However, he said that she was declining to return Truth to him and was essentially on doing everything to avoid doing so. Thankfully, she was caught in El Centro, California and he immediately went to Sand Diego via plane and then drove 100 miles to bring Truth home.

It’s wholesome moment to kick of 2025 in hip-hop for sure. But on top of getting his baby girl back, Trae Tha Truth is also releasing some new music. Its perhaps a way of sharing his excitement with the world and we aren’t mad at all for how he’s going about it. Today, he’s come by with “I’m on 4.0.” If you listen to him regularly, you know he’s been dropping these titles for years now. It’s a song series that always includes a hefty all-star roster of guests, with the inaugural entry dropping in 2011. However, it’s been almost eight years since “3.0,” so it’s been a hot minute. This one features a diverse cast, with Chance The Rapper, DMX, Ty Dolla $ign, and Method Man being the standouts. Then, there’s G Herbo, Jeezy, Jay Rock, D Smoke, and Joyner Lucas, as well as Busta Rhymes and Mark Morrison rounding things out. Every one of these tracks have landed on a project, so maybe we are in for one soon.

Azealia Banks Thinks Drake Needs A “White Boy Flex” For His Comeback

A lot of people have very distinct advice for Drake following his rap battle loss to Kendrick Lamar, as if the biggest rap superstar in the world needed any. But a lot of folks still have doubts as to what his next moves will be, including some of his industry peers. For example, Azealia Banks recently offered her latest assessment of the 6ix God’s situation, bringing up the cultural divide that dominated a lot of discussion around him in 2024. According to Banks, if he capitalizes on his white sensibilities and focuses on his massive status as a hitmaker and global sensation, he can sidestep the cultural criticisms that came his way… Or at the very least, suppress them through sheer numbers.

“Drake just needs to pull a papa roach last resort type record next and have another global Eminem level hit and put a cap on this s**t,” Azealia Banks recently tweeted. “If they won’t let him be black f**k it. He can move in ways other rap n***as can’t. Just pull an epic Green Day white boy flex. Make history.”

Azealia Banks’ Advice For Drake

What’s more is that Drake’s comeback might be just around the corner, as some new music snippets recently surfaced for a brief moment online. At least one of them sounds like it emulates the R&B vibes that fans are looking forward to from his upcoming collab album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, whereas the other two teases are more rap-centric on opposite chilled-out and energetic moods. Whether or not these tracks come out sooner rather than later is anyone’s guess, but it nonetheless indicates that there could be plenty of chances in 2025 for Drizzy to establish himself as the titan right now.

Despite Drake’s continued success throughout the year when it comes to his overall commercial numbers, a lot of fans feel like he needs a new and current release to really cement this in a more legitimate way. But he’s got a lot on his plate these days, so we don’t blame him for trying not to rush the process and instead waiting for the perfect drop to return.

Lil Durk’s Murder-for-Hire Trial Delayed Until October

LilDurk008

Lil Durk’s legal battle in an ongoing murder-for-hire case has taken a new turn, with his trial date now postponed. Originally set for January 7, the court has granted Durk and his co-defendant, Kavon Grant, additional time to prepare for the proceedings. The trial has been rescheduled for October 14, with the next motion hearing set for August 11.

Citing the complexity of the case, the court acknowledged the need for an extended timeline. “The case is so unusual and so complex, due to the nature of the prosecution and the number of defendants, that it is unreasonable to expect preparation for pre-trial proceedings or for the trial itself within the time limits established by the Speedy Trial Act,” reads the ruling, as reported by XXL.

Durk faces accusations of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot targeting fellow rapper Quando Rondo in 2022. He has been charged with conspiracy to use interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death. Pleading not guilty to the allegations, Durk has consistently denied any involvement. His attorney, Drew Findling, has also dismissed the claims, stating, “The claims in the indictment against Mr. Banks are false and lacking in the most basic due diligence. The real truth is that Durk Banks is a Grammy Award-winning artist, a dedicated father, and a loving husband.”

Earlier this week, Durk’s father, Dontay “Big Durk” Banks, spoke out in defense of his son, questioning the timing of the indictment. He highlighted the rapper’s recent efforts to distance himself from street life and focus on community initiatives. “It’s mighty strange that once he started doing good—staying away from gang-banging, dissing the dead, and street activity—when he turned his life around, practicing religion, and working on peace initiatives in Chicago and other cities, all of a sudden, now he’s being indicted,” Big Durk said.

As the trial looms, the allegations have cast a shadow over Lil Durk’s philanthropic work and artistic achievements. However, his legal team remains steadfast in their efforts to clear his name.

Future And Young Thug Fans Believe The Long-Awaited ‘Super Slimey 2’ Could Be Coming Soon Thanks To A Producer’s Post

Ever since Young Thug’s release from Fulton County jail last October after pleading “no contest” to the racketeering charge that kept him locked up for nearly two years, fans have been looking forward to seeing what he does next with his hard-won freedom. They may have gotten a glimpse, courtesy of frequent collaborators Wheezy and ATL Jacob. The former posted a video to his Instagram Story of the latter in the studio with a neon sign reading “Super Slimey 2” behind him.

Longtime Thug fans recognize this as a reference to his 2017 joint album with Future, Super Slimey. A well-received team-up, the project paired the two top voices in the Atlanta trap scene for a project that was commercially successful, if not critically acclaimed. However, it wasn’t long before they began teasing a sequel; Super Slimey 2 would have improved on the formula, according to producer Southside, while adding more manpower in the form of the duo’s young proteges, Gunna and Lil Baby, fresh off their own fan-favorite joint album, Drip Harder.

Of course, if Super Slimey 2 is really in the works, it may not feature all four rappers. While Lil Baby reconnected with Future and Thug on “Dum, Dumb And Dumber” from his new album WHAM (Who Hard As Me), Gunna has been on the outs with his primary partner since accepting an early plea deal that freed him up to continue his career but earned him “snitching” accusations from many in hip-hop — even as Young Thug’s family denied he told prosecutors anything useful to their case against Thug. Future also allegedly sent a few shots Gunna’s way on his own latest project, Mixtape Pluto, although Gunna denied having any sort of beef with the elder rapper. Even Young Thug supposedly said he wasn’t Gunna’s friend, although that could have just been him getting hacked on Twitter or a simple misunderstanding, considering he also asked for a specific exception to his probation terms to maintain contact with him.

Truthfully, it could all just be a result of rap fans reading too much into fairly generic rap boasts, but even if that’s the case, it doesn’t seem we should be looking forward to hearing Gunna on Super Slimey 2, if it really is coming soon.

The Lonely Island Really Wants An Eminem Collaboration To Happen (And Also Bill Clinton)

The Lonely Island have been making a bit of a comeback in recent months. The Andy Samberg-led comedy-music group popped up on Saturday Night Live in October with “Sushi Glory Hole,” then followed it up in November with the Charli XCX-featuring “Here I Go.”

Beyond Charli, the group has quite the list of collaborators that includes everybody from Kendrick Lamar to Justin Timberlake to Michael Bolton. One person they’d really like to add to that list: Eminem.

On a recent episode of The Lonely Island And Seth Meyers Podcast (above), Samberg and Jorma Taccone (Akiva Schaffer was absent from the episode) answered listener questions, and one of them was about who their dream collaborator is, somebody they haven’t worked with yet. Taccone was quick to respond with Eminem, and Samberg agreed.

Samberg also added, “We always said we wanted to get Bill Clinton on sax. That dream still lives. If it ever gets to Bill Clinton — who now is no longer president, by quite a long while, so he might have some free time — if he ever wants to come shred some sax on a Lonely Island track, we’d be very, very excited.”

The Q&A segment also featured some good news for fans of the group. One of the questions was about if the group would ever tour again. Taccone responded, “I’m going to say yes, Andy’s gonna say no.” Samberg added, “I’m going to say hopefully, but no plans.”
