Snoop Dogg Reveals Shocking Pop Features For “Missionary” Album

Missionary is the most anticipated Snoop Dogg album in ages. The Long Beach legend is really building up the hype, from its title to its framing as a sequel to his beloved debut, Doggystyle. Snoop Dogg even brought Dr. Dre back to handle the lion’s share of the production. Missionary has been teased for a few years now, but all signs point to the album coming out soon. Snoop himself lent credence to this theory when he recently spoke at the Bloomberg Screen Conference in Los Angeles. He also revealed some of the features, and believe us when we say they are surprising.

Snoop Dogg claimed that Missionary will be the album that will allow him to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career. He’s become such a brand name, that the notion of him stepping back from music isn’t that surprising. “This new record is gonna put me in a position to probably have that final big stadium tour,” he explained. “Cause there’s a lot of features on this record that I’m excited about that are big-name artists.” Naturally, Snoop was asked which big-name artists are set to appear on the album.

Snoop Dogg Has Wanted A Sting Collab For Decades

It would have been logical to assume that Snoop Dogg would have opted for big-name rappers. But no, he decided to branch out and link up with some pop names. “I got a feature from Jelly Roll and Sting,” Snoop said. “I’m so happy that me and Sting got a record that’s so good.” The rapper was particularly thrilled to link up with the former lead singer of The Police. He also admitted that he’s been a fan since he was a child.

“We hung out and we chilled,” Snoop Dogg stated to the audience. “It was like a child that’s infatuated with somebody as a singer. And you get a chance to meet them and they give you everything that you expected.” Sting was similarly complimentive when he talked to BBC Radio 2 about the collaboration. “Me and Snoop made a recording of ‘Message In a Bottle,’ which he’s called something else,” the iconic singer said. “I played the guitar and I sang on it, but Snoop also sings on this, which is quite a revelation to me.” We can’t wait to hear how these two sound on record together.

Pharrell Continues To Impress With “Piece By Piece” Soundtrack

Pharrell knows how to make great music. He’s been doing it since 1992, when he penned a verse for the classic rap single “Rump Shaker.” The single is on the Piece By Piece soundtrack, since the movie of the same name tells Pharrell’s life and career story. There are other classic songs on here, and collabs with the likes of JAY-Z, Snoop Dogg, Clipse, and Justin Timberlake. Piece By Piece is, in one regard, one of the best greatest hits packages you could ever hope to come across. It is a sampler of the best hip hop, pop and R&B music of the last three decades. Don’t worry, though, there’s new stuff too.

It would be pointless to sit here and write about the merits of, say, “Superthug” or “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk. You know these songs, and depending on how you feel about “Happy,” you love these songs. It’s the new material, largely composed and performed by Pharrell solo, that makes Piece By Piece such an interesting listen. Most of the new songs are up top, and they are stellar. “For Real” and the title song are Pharrell in his bag, dishing out radiant melodies over oddball production. The obvious highlight is the “Virginia Boy” remix, though. Pharrell and his protege, Tyler, The Creator, sound like they’re having a ball on the hard-hitting song.

Let us know what you think of this brand new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Snoop Dogg Summer Apparel Line Drops at Walmart

Snoop’s past legal issues have officially come to an end after the petition to seal the records and transcripts from his 1993 murder trial.

Legal documents obtained from TMZ shows Snoop requested that a judge seal the records back in January 2024 and his petition was granted the next month.

Back in ’93, Snoop was still a rising star when he and his bodyguard were accused of shooting a man in Los Angeles. Mr. Snoop Eastwood was arrested following the above performance of “Murder Was The Case” at the 1993 MTV VMA Awards.

Snoop gave an insightful interview with MTV following his acquittal, explaining how the case changed his perception on life and switched the content of his music.

Snoop Dogg & Dave East Team Up For “Bosco” Soundtrack Cut “Love You More”

Back in the beginning of the year, NBC streaming subsidiary Peacock released Bosco. The film is based on the true story of one Quawntay “Bosco” Adams, who was handed down a 35-year prison sentence for attempting to possess marijuana. However, with a child on the way, he was going to make sure that he was going to be able to make it to the hospital. But him and a woman from Missouri have to get through constant security and a maximum-security wing of the prison. The film adaptation of the book, Chasin Freedum, hit the streaming platform on February 2. Around the time of this announcement, it was revealed that major hip-hop artists would be on its accompanying soundtrack. DDG, French Montana, and The Game are a few of them.

However, we are going to be talking about the collaboration between Snoop Dogg and Dave East, “Love You More”. Overall, given that it’s for a movie’s soundtrack, the production is very clean. However, it does have a nice rhythm and it’s more of a lovey R&B cut. Helping with that more lowkey vibe is singer WHOISTEVENYOUNG, who is sort of sounds like Chris Brown. This track between these three talents of varying experience is one of 10 on the Bosco (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) – Side A. Given the title, we can expect to hear more tracks. However, there doesn’t seem to be any confirmation on that just yet, so we are just speculating right now. You can check out “Love You More” with the link below to it’s new music video.

Snoop Dogg Hints At 2025 Tour To Support New “Missionary” Album With Dr Dre

Snoop Dogg will reunite with Dr. Dre for their next collaborative album Missionary, which doesn’t have a release date yet. They’ve indicated that they want to drop it in November to commemorate the anniversary of their last full-length team-up, 1993’s Doggystyle. But a new Forbes report published Sunday (September 29) also added another exciting possibility to this reunion. Moreover, the writer mentioned “talk of a tour as early as next year,” although this wasn’t directly attributed to Tha Doggfather. As such, maybe it’s just wishful thinking or a misplaced interpretation, but it seems unlikely that they would drop this album without taking it on the road.

“Music is my foundation. That’s the root of who I am, so I can never run away from that,” Snoop Dogg expressed to the publication. He first announced Missionary back in 2022 on Stephen A. Smith’s Know Mercy podcast. “You’re the first one to hear this: me and Dr. Dre have been working on an album for the past two months,” the Long Beach legend revealed. “It’s produced by Dr. Dre, it’s our 30th anniversary to Doggystyle. And the name of the album is Missionary.” While it didn’t line up with the 30th anniversary, 31 isn’t so bad!

“As soon as we finish this I have to go downstairs and start mixing,” Dr. Dre told Entertainment Tonight last month concerning his upcoming album with Snoop Dogg. “I wanted 14 songs, Snoop wants 16, so we have that thing happening. I’m on song number 11 as far as the mixes go. I have to be done and delivered by September 1st to have a November release.” We never got an update on whether he handed the project in or not…

“I actually did a couple of songs, I’m not sure if one of them’s going to make it or not,” Dr. Dre continued his revelations about Snoop Dogg’s Missionary. “I produced the entire album. But vocally, I think, only one of them is going to make it. There’s a song, we have Sting on the song. Man, it’s an amazing roster of artists that’s on this album. I shouldn’t have revealed that, to be honest.”

Suge Knight Alleges That JAY-Z And Dr Dre Knew About Diddy’s Crimes

Suge Knight and Diddy were polar opposites in the 1990s. The former was the head honcho for Death Row Records on the West Coast. The latter spearheaded Bad Boy Records on the East Coast. They were enemies, and there has been no love lost between them in subsequent decades. Suge Knight and Diddy have succumbed to similar fates in recent years, however. Knight is behind bars, and Diddy is locked up while he awaits a criminal trial. The irony is not lost on Knight, who went on News Nation to discuss what he suggested was an open secret in hip hop.

Suge Knight has watched Diddy rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in music since the 90s. Some of these artists include people that Knight worked with on Death Row Records, like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. The former label boss alleged that none of the people who were friendly with Diddy have spoken up, however, because they know he’s guilty. Suge Knight didn’t tip toe around the topic, either. He referenced some of the biggest rappers in the game by name, including his former associates.

Suge Knight Also Criticized Russell Simmons

“Facts is there,” Knight told News Nation host Chris Cuomo. “Where we’re at now, I don’t care if it’s T.I., I don’t care if it’s Rick Ross, I don’t care if it’s Jay.” The convict went on to name other artists on the West Coast with Diddy affiliations. “I don’t care if it’s Snoop, I don’t care if it’s Game, I don’t care if it’s Dre,” he added. “Nobody stepping up on the fact that you know what’s going on.” The name game didn’t stop at musicians, either. Suge Knight proceeded to call out other industry figures who field power.

The Death Row co-founder alleged that people like Clive Davis, Jimmy Iovine and Russell Simmons are also engaging in criminal behavior behind the scenes. This is not the first time that parallels between the Bad Boy founder and icons like Davis and Simmons. Diddy’s former bodyguard, Gene Deal, told The Art of Dialogue that both men served as influences on his employer’s lifestyle. “They was heavy into beating women, and doing things at that crazy stage,” Deal claimed. “That’s gonna make him think that he can get away with the same thing.”

Reservoir Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSVR), an award-winning independent music company, has unveiled new publishing agreements with hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg and his iconic label, Death Row Records. This significant deal encompasses domestic publishing for Snoop’s extensive catalog of hits as well as future works and the entire publishing catalog of Death Row Records.

Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Broadus Jr., first rose to fame in 1992 with his appearance on Dr. Dre’s debut single “Deep Cover,” followed by the release of his acclaimed debut album, Doggystyle, in 1993. The album, featuring classics like “What’s My Name?” and “Gin and Juice,” achieved 4x-Platinum certification the following year. Over his career, Snoop has released 19 solo albums, with his highly anticipated twentieth album, Missionary, in collaboration with Dr. Dre, currently in the works.

With 16 Grammy nominations and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Snoop Dogg has cemented his status as a music icon and pop culture phenomenon. His influence spans beyond music into acting and various successful business ventures. Recently, he has taken on new roles, including a coach on NBC’s The Voice for its 26th season.

On signing the deal, Snoop commented, “I’m so honored to have them as a partner and excited for all the great things to come with the catalogue as well as new music ventures. 2024 and beyond 🔥🙏🏾🐾

Reservoir’s EVP, Global Creative Director Donna Caseine commented, “Legendary artists only need one name. Snoop is part of that echelon. From music, to brands, television, and film, his acumen represents excellence. For the last three decades he has been a pillar of hip-hop music and popular culture. He helped write Death Row Records into music’s history books. It is an honor to support Snoop’s vision as an artist and work with the Death Row family alongside Jaslin Levy, Sabriya Dublin, Sara Ramaker, and their entire team.”

Following the acquisition of Death Row Records in 2022, Snoop has also launched a publishing business under the label, now represented by Reservoir. This new agreement includes rights to significant tracks such as “Hail Mary” and “I Ain’t Mad At Cha” by 2Pac, further enriching Reservoir’s impressive catalog.

Reservoir Founder and Chief Executive Officer Golnar Khosrowshahi added, “Being in business with Snoop is an exciting opportunity to support his legendary catalog, leveraging his massive stardom to further embed his music across mainstream media.” She added, “This deal also marks a unique moment to help further the legacy of an important and valuable brand like Death Row. Snoop has come full circle with Death Row, showcasing his ongoing dedication to upholding its rich history – something Reservoir has proven as a core value and area of expertise across our business.”

Snoop Dogg Offered His Thoughtful Take On The Super Bowl Booking Kendrick Lamar Over Lil Wayne

While some in hip-hop were adamant that Lil Wayne should perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans next year, Snoop Dogg — who actually did perform in LA in 2022 — was more measured in his response to the controversy over the NFL booking Kendrick Lamar instead. Appearing on Nightcap with hosts Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, Snoop addressed fans’ concerns while offering up a perspective some might not have considered.

“I don’t really have no opinion,” he said. “But what I do wanna say is that, just remember where the NFL was 15 years ago when it comes to hip-hop. How many hip-hop artists was able to grace that stage 15 years ago? So, I understand both sides of the coin and I understand how people feel.”

However, he acknowledged his own performance two years ago, noting, “I didn’t do any Snoop Dogg songs. I was up there helping Dr. Dre and it became a great moment for all of us.” Then, he reminded viewers that “it’s a 12-13-minute performance and you’re not getting paid. It’s more or less you have to spend money to upgrade your show to make it mass appealing for the audience that’s home watching.”

And that, more than anything, might be the reason for Kendrick’s selection over Wayne. Totally separate from the conversations we’ve already discussed here and here, what are the odds Wayne — who spent 15 years fighting Birdman for the rights and royalties to his music — would have the budget for a Super Bowl-level show? We’ve seen Kendrick do it time and time again, whether on tour for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers or on the Grammy stage.

While it would have been cool for the local act to get some shine in his hometown, the fact is, the show isn’t about the venue — it’s about keeping 100 million people from changing the channel between halves of The Big Game (true story; the Super Bowl Halftime in its current incarnation is the result of a ratings war with In Living Color). Those brands pay a lot of money for those Super Bowl ads, and they want people to see ’em. If the NFL feels that’s more likely with a contemporary superstar like Kendrick than a cult favorite like Wayne, then that’s just how it’s going to be.

Snoop Dogg Thanks Pharrell For Changing How He Raps About Women

Snoop Dogg and Pharrell’s collaboration “Beautiful” actually has a more important and consequential legacy than you might initially assume. Moreover, the former recently revealed the reason why during his latest interview with PEOPLE. Of course, these two have a pretty long history together, and it’s one that they’re looking forward to continue writing together. For example, Tha Doggfather will be a part of the multi-hyphenate’s Piece By Piece LEGO biopic. But Snoop revealed how this collaborative track, more than being another timeline point in their journey, actually inspired him to change how he stamped his own legacy in hip-hop when it comes to female representation.

“[Pharrell] made me do that song,” Snoop Dogg expressed concerning “Beautiful.” “I would never do a song like that in the ’90s, but he tapped me into the side that I really never paid attention to. He was like, ‘You’ve been rapping about women and calling them h*es and they love you. When are you going to take time to show them that you love them and appreciate them?’ I was like, ‘I get it … put the beat on.’ Since then I’ve been on more of a ‘respect my queen‘ rather than use derogatory words to explain my feeling towards females.”

Snoop Dogg & Pharrell’s “Beautiful”: Stream & Watch The Music Video

Apparently, Pharrell named all the women in Snoop Dogg’s family to prove his point. Elsewhere during this new PEOPLE interview, Snoop also reflected on how this evolution for him – as well as his extracurriculars like his Olympics partnership – have changed his image and approach without changing who he is at his core. “You think about all the things that I went through and where I’m at… It’s a lesson,” he remarked. “To let the world see growth, how somebody can go from being hated, banned from countries, thrown in jail [for] weed, to now America’s most lovable person. But it’s the same person.”

Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg’s experience with the Olympic Games inspired him to advocate for the “Hood Olympics.” “There’s a lot of homies from the hood that could run a 10.2, that could high jump, throw the javelin, backflip, swim good, jump over gates and hurdle. You know what I’m saying?” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I just want to make it available for the athletes from the hood that didn’t make it, that probably have certain ramifications, but they still were athletic and they still were good. So, I want to bring that component in and, hopefully, we’ll be able to make it make sense.”
