Metro Boomin & Offset Came Together During ‘Amazon Music Live’ For A Surprise Performance Of ‘Night Vision’

The Amazon Music Live concert series is back. Last week, Lil Durk took the stage. This past Thursday, October 12, it was producer extraordinaire Metro Boomin‘s turn. Metro’s artistic credits include some of the biggest names in music, so he was sure to bring out a special guest.

During the show, Metro and Offset came together for a surprise performance of the song “Night Vision,” off his sophomore album Set It Off. The track is an emotional examination of Offset’s trials over the past year. Here’s a sample of his lyrics:

“Man, I feel alone, but that’s how it gotta be / Man, I would be lying if I say I ain’t miss the three / Nights I wanted to cry, why them n****s blaming me? / I don’t want no sorry, n****, the pain I feel ain’t easy / I’m thinking spinnin’ bout’ my brother Take, this sh*t been eating me / I can’t get no peace when I be sleeping, seeing demons / Fake smile on my face but they don’t know that I be scheming.”

In the stanza, Offset references his departure from the superstar rap trio Migos and the untimely death of then-member Takeoff.

During a 2019 appearance on Power 106 FM’s The Cruz Show, Offset talked about his past creative process working with Metro Boomin:

“We had two different rooms. So, he’s doing 16-hour sessions. I’m doing 16-hour sessions rapping. He’s doing a 16-hour-session production. And then, right before the [Father Of Four], we did like another additional 12, just both of us in the room, saying what instruments sounded fire… It’s like the old-school days. It ain’t like nobody’s sending you an email with a pack of beats, and you just happen to make one out of the six, you know what I mean.”

You can watch Metro Boomin and Offset’s performances of “Night Vision” above.

Set It Off is out now via Motown/Capitol. Find more information here.

Offset & Cardi B Display Their Chemistry On “Freaky”

Offset and Cardi B are a hip-hop power couple that always seems to deliver. Over the years, they have come through with some great songs together. Prior to the release of his album Set It Off, the two came through with a song called “Jealousy.” However, when the tracklist was revealed, fans became aware of a second Cardi B feature. This song is called is “Freaky,” and it is already proving to be a fan favorite on the entire album.

Unfortunately, the track does not have a music video. When you get Offset and Cardi B on a song together, you would expect some sort of music video. Although that is probably on the horizon, fans will just have to settle for audio-only. Thankfully, the song itself is great. As you can imagine based on the song title here, the subject matter definitely matches up. However, these topics are nothing knew for the couple.

Here’s Why Playboi Carti Isn’t On Offset’s ‘Set It Off’ Album

Say My Grace” rapper Offset’s year has been filled with heartbreaking lows, unnecessary conflicts, and short-lived marital tension. However, thanks to his sheer tenacity, he has managed to take back control of his life to steer it in a most positive direction. The result of tunnel vision is his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Set It Off.

The 21-track project features guest appearances from, of course, his wife, Cardi B, as well as Travis Scott, Future, Don Toliver, Yung Nudy, Mango Foo, and Uproxx cover stars Latto & Chlöe. But fans wondered what happened to his previously teased collaboration with Playboi Carti.

Why isn’t Playboi Carti on Offset’s new album, Set It Off?

Simply put, it isn’t because the track wasn’t ready to go. On September 28, during his private album listening party in London, the recording artist treated attendees to a snippet from the record. But, still, the song didn’t make the final tracklist.

Thanks to an interaction with a fan’s post online, Offset seemingly confirmed it was due to clearance issues. “What Carti at n****,” asked one of the rapper’s online followers. Another jokingly chimed in and wrote, “He definitely ain’t clear it [crying laughing emoji],” and Offset gave a like to that response.

With the rise of deluxe projects, fans might not want to give up just yet as the unreleased track could appear then.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Latto References Ice Spice’s “Munch” On Offset’s New Album, Fans Speculate Beef

Latto’s new feature on Offset’s Set It Off cut “Fine As Can Be” has fans speculating about rap beef once more. Of course, this is all too common within hip-hop, especially femcees who are pitted against each other and whose alleged subliminals at their peers drive fanbases wild. While much of it is purely speculative and, at worst, creates tensions rather than interprets them, sometimes there can be some weight behind it. However, in the case of the Atlanta rapper’s mention of Ice Spice’s “Munch” on this song, this is probably nothing more than a harmless reference or a really bad diss if she was trying.

That n***a a munch, your booking fee, ate it for lunch,” Latto rapped on “Fine As Can Be.” “I don’t do backends, need it up front, I’m big dog, you b***hes is runts. Don’t pull wigs, don’t pull stunts, I pull triggers and I pull blunts.” As you can see, there isn’t really a direct or subliminal diss in sight on this record, at least these specific parts. Still, the very thought of an Ice Spice mention already sent fans into that zone, and they can find those hints in places they never existed in.

Furthermore, fan theories on Ice Spice and Latto’s beef because quite common this year. It first began with the latter seemingly refusing to remember lyrics by the former- at least, that’s how die-hards interpreted it. Regardless of instances of potential shade like these, the 777 artist denied any narratives that people created from these statements, posts, and the like. Since then, various other songs came out from both artists that seemingly contained subtle digs at each other. For example, on “Butterfly Ku,” the Bronx hitmaker raps “Where she at? On the floor, she getting money, but I’m getting more.”

Whether that’s a “Put It On Da Floor” reference or not, it’s clear that these rumors won’t stop anytime soon. It’s unfortunate that they’re mostly the result of fans pitting a Nicki Minaj collaborator against a Cardi B collaborator and not the result of actual direct grievances with each other. That’s not to say that they should have them, but it would at least be more genuine. Even the Nicki and Cardi cold war is mostly fueled by the fans, so we’ll see if they ever change their ways and let femcees be femcees without sparking animosity. Offset “Set It Off” Album Credits Revealed: Producers & Features

Offset is back with his sophomore solo album, Set It Off. The journey to the album’s release wasn’t without its hiccups. First, it was the rumored feud between Offset and the other two members of the Migos. Then, there were his issues with Quality Control in the midst of releasing “54321” and “CODE.” But the most difficult moment in the past two years was the passing of Takeoff. However, Offset continued to ensure that he kept Take’s name alive in any capacity that he could.

The release of Set It Off marks a new era in Offset’s career, one that he’s been working toward in the past two years. And evidently, the amount of time that he’s put into the record is paying off. Set It Off boasts an impressive collection of collaborators, from the producers who cheffed up the beats to the expertly curated group of features that assist Offset across the 21-song tracklist. Although Father Of 4 was met with a lukewarm response, Set It Off proves that Offset beat the sophomore album.

“I stepped outside of the box, like I said, and I took my time and didn’t rush the product,” he continued. “I’m not settling for the past. I want progression through the future. I wanted to, especially with this project, progress as an artist and not bottle my talents like dancing. That’s why in my videos, I’ve been bringing those elements out of me because I feel like the more you entertain the people, and the more you show people who you are, the more they accept you and follow your lead.”

Moreover, Offset is aware that timing is often the key to success. Also during the interview, he shared that they felt pressured to release his project last year but ultimately decided against it. “I felt like I was supposed to drop last year, and it would’ve been the wrong time.
