Moneybagg Yo, Lil Durk, And EST Gee Stand Tall And Flex Muscle In Their Video For ‘Switches & Dracs’

“Nearly six months after its release, Moneybagg Yo returned with a reloaded version of his fourth album, A Gangsta’s Pain, which added seven additional songs to the album’s original 22 tracks. One of those is “Switches & Dracs,” featuring Lil Durk and EST Gee. Now there’s a video, in which the rappers stand tall and flex heavy muscle while delivering rhymes about their loyalty.

The album’s extended version also includes new appearances from DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Ashanti, Yung Bleu, Ja’niyah, and Big Homiie G. They join acts such as Polo G, Kaash Paige, Pharrell, Future, Big30, and more, who appeared on the album’s standard version. Shortly after A Gangsta’s Pain was originally released, it topped the charts, becoming Moneybagg’s first No. 1 album. A couple of weeks later, it returned to No. 1, making it one of eight albums in 2021 to spend multiple weeks atop the albums chart.

Prior to releasing the extended version of A Gangsta’s Pain, Moneybagg released a sultry video for “One Of Them Nights” and got lost in the sunken place in his video for “Wockesha.”

Moneybagg Yo And Jhené Aiko Celebrate Having ‘One Of Dem Nights’ With A Sultry Video

When Moneybagg Yo dropped his new album A Gangsta’s Pain in April, one of the fan-favorite standout songs was the Jhene Aiko-featuring “One Of Dem Nights.” A marked departure from much of Moneybagg’s existing oeuvre, the smooth, R&B-flavored track found Moneybagg sharing his X-rated fantasies alongside the bell-voiced singer. Now, six months out from the song’s initial release, Moneybagg shares the well-suited video for “One Of Dem Nights,” which sees the rapper mugging next to the singer, who also appears in miniature sitting atop the stove and a shelf in the trap house.

“One Of Dem Nights,” along with other hits like “Time Today,” “Hard For The Next,” and “Wockesha,” helped propel Moneybagg’s fourth album to a No. 1 debut, then keep it atop the Billboard albums chart two weeks later, where it returned after a huge streaming week. In addition to his own well-received singles, the Memphis native secured a number of high-profile features with names like Belly (“Zero Love“) and Meek Mill (“Hot“).

Meanwhile, Jhene Aiko celebrated the 10th anniversary of her debut mixtape, Sailing Soul(s), in March, then poked her head out for features on Ty Dolla Sign’s “By Yourself” and Swae Lee’s “In The Dark” from Marvel’s Shang-Chi.

Meek Mill Shares His ‘Expensive Pain’ Tracklist Featuring Lil Baby, Young Thug, And More

This Friday, Meek Mill is set to drop his fifth studio album, Expensive Pain, after a tidy rollout that included both a slick new single with fellow Philadelphian Lil Uzi Vert, “Blue Notes 2,” and some questionable cover art. Today, he’s shared the star-studded tracklist via an Instagram post of the handwritten track titles and features. Scribbled on plain lined paper with multiple differently colored markers, even the tracklist appears to reflect the new “artistic” direction the album appears to be taking.

Along with the aforementioned Uzi Vert, guests on the album include A$AP Ferg, Brent Faiyaz, British rapper Giggs, Kehlani, Lil Baby & Lil Durk (on the previously released “Sharing Locations“), Moneybagg Yo, newcomer Vory, and Young Thug. Also included is the track “Angels,” which appears to be a loving tribute to Meek’s Dreamers artist Lil Snupe and his friend Nipsey Hussle. Meanwhile, it appears “Flamerz Flow” and “War Stories” will not appear on the album — at least not this version. Looking at the trend in releases over the past 18 months, we can likely expect them to pop up on the inevitable deluxe.

Expensive Pain is due 10/1 via Atlantic Records.

Moneybagg Yo Taps Lil Wayne And Ashanti For A Woozy ‘Wockesha’ Remix

Moneybagg Yo’s sleeper summer hit “Wockesha” receives a woozy remix courtesy of the two artists the Memphis rapper originally just sampled on the song: Lil Wayne and Ashanti. Lil Wayne, whose voice is sampled from an old interview on the song’s intro, contributes a sturdy verse dedicated to the delights of his favorite styrofoam cup filler. Then, Ashanti, whose song “Foolish” uses the same interpolation as “Wockesha” (from DeBarge’s 1983 song “Stay With Me”), offers a honeyed hook, as well as a melodic verse of her own.

“Wockesha” turned out to be the breakout hit from Moneybagg’s recently released album A Gangsta’s Pain, which garnered the Memphis native his first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart. Since the album’s release, Moneybagg has seen himself become an in-demand features artist as Belly tapped him for “Zero Love” and Fredo Bang put in the call for “Doin’ My Dance.” Moneybagg’s also accumulated high-profile performances, including one at Broccoli City’s return festival and the 2021 BET Awards, where he performed “Wockesha” live.

Meanwhile, his guests have had bountiful years of their own. Lil Wayne has popped up on tracklists from Conway The Machine, Drake, and more, while Ashanti recently graced the Verzuz stage twice, once in January in her own battle with Keyshia Cole, and again during Fat Joe and Ja Rule’s show, performing alongside both.
