Rising rapper HDBeenDope has unleashed his latest freestyle, “BDB,” marking the commencement of Roc Nation’s nationwide rap takeover on the freestyle platform From The Block. The video pays homage to the legendary rapper’s roots near the Calgary Municipal Housing complex, shot against the backdrop of visual artist Floyd Simmons’ iconic mural in Yonkers—a tribute to the late DMX. With subtle DMX references, from canine sightings to a self-produced beat featuring a DMX sample, HDBeenDope’s freestyle is a heartfelt tribute. The release follows his previous collaborations honoring NY legends, solidifying HDBeenDope’s position as a torchbearer for hip-hop’s rich legacy.
Brooklyn-born HDBeenDope has been signed by Roc Nation. The label positions itself as the support behind HD’s new sound that highlights the spirit of New York City. A one-stop-shop of talent, HDBeenDope pens his own bars, while also often producing his own songs and creating his own videos.
