Lucky Daye’s ‘Candy Drip’ Tracklist Features Appearances From Smino, Lil Durk, And Chiiild

Next week, Lucky Daye will release his sophomore album Candy Drip. He’s already released singles from it, including “Over” last fall, which arrived with a video featuring model Jordyn Woods. He followed up that single with the album’s title track and “NWA” with Lil Durk. Before it arrives on March 11, Lucky has returned to share the official tracklist.

Candy Drip will deliver 17 songs, including the aforementioned singles. Lucky will also handle most of the vocal responsibilities, as it features just three guest appearances. Smino, Lil Durk, and Chiiild will make individual contributions in what will hopefully amount to a strong follow-up to Lucky’s Grammy-nominated debut album Painted.

Shortly after Candy Drip arrives, Lucky will head out on a North American tour with singer Joyce Wrice serving as the opener for the string of shows.

Lucky Daye Unveils The Release Date And Cover Art For His Upcoming Album, ‘Candy Drip’

It only took a few years for Lucky Daye to become one of the prominent voices of modern R&B. In 2019, Daye released his debut album, Painted, which became one of the best R&B releases of that year and scored multiple Grammy nominations. He’s also landed collaborations with the likes of Babyface, Ari Lennox, Wale, Ty Dolla Sign, and more. After dropping his EP Table For Two in 2021, Daye is ready to grace the world with his sophomore album, which he spoke about recently.

Daye previously announced that his sophomore album would be titled Candy Drip after he released its title track back in December. Now, he’s confirmed it will arrive on March 10. He also unveiled the cover art, which displays a close-up picture of Daye, who’s covered in some sticky liquid that looks a lot like honey. The announcement arrives after Daye shared “NWA” with Lil Durk, which is the second single from the forthcoming album.

Shortly after Candy Drip arrives, Daye will head out on a North American tour with singer Joyce Wrice. It kicks off March 18 in Portland, Oregon, and continues for a little over a month before coming to an end in New York City on April 25.

Lucky Daye Pounds His Chest With Confidence On The Thumping ‘NWA’ With Lil Durk

At the end of 2021, Lucky Daye announced that his sophomore album Candy Drip would arrive at some point during the spring of 2022. He shared the news by releasing its enticing title track. The project will follow up his 2019 debut album Painted, which received a Grammy nomination at the 2020 award show. In Lucky’s latest step towards his upcoming second album, he recruits Lil Durk for their new single “NWA.” The track sees both acts in a very confident state as they flex their ability to attain women and keep them happy while also discussing their smoking habits.

Lucky’s new song comes after he announced that he’d be hitting the road in support of his Candy Drip album. The string of shows will begin next month with a stop in Portland, Oregon, and continue through April before coming to an end in New York. Lucky Daye will also bring singer Joyce Wrice with him as an opener for the tour.

Aside from the upcoming tour, Lucky has been fairly active on the music side of things. After releasing his Table For Two EP last year, he delivered a handful of collaborations that saw him work with Nao, VanJess, BJ The Chicago Kid, Khalid, and more.

“Bag” is the follow-up to Col3trane’s 2021 track “Californication.” Both songs are expected to live on his debut album Lush Life.

“‘Bag’ is about giving everything you can to someone,” the rising singer unveiled. “Material and emotional, and it still is not enough. I wrote this song with Lucky and Camper on Lucky’s birthday around October 2020. I sat on it for a while, made a lot of different versions and ended up going back in on it with Camper about a year later. He laid all the keys and bells pads in about 3 hours, solos and all. Bridge included. Watching him do that was crazy.”

Alicia Keys, Khalid, And Lucky Daye Play Board Games And Chill In Their Cozy ‘Come For Me’ Video

Last year, Alicia Keys rolled out the 18-track album Alicia, which featured unexpected collaborations with musicians like Brandi Carlile, Tierra Whack, and Khalid. Earlier this month, the prolific singer followed up with the 26-track effort Keys, which featured another Khalid collaboration, the sultry track “Come For Me” with a verse from Lucky Daye. After showing some behind-the-scenes of the making of her album with a short film, Keys has now shared a cozy and intimate video for her Khalid and Daye collaboration.

Keys’ “Come For Me” video gives her fans an inside look at the making of the song. While the three musicians put in a lot of studio time, which can be seen in the visual, they also made sure to make time for having fun. That includes spending some time around the table drinking wine and bonding over board games.

Along with her new album, a video, and a short film, Keys has also been cooking up another project lately. This past week, the singer revealed that her graphic novel Girl On Fire will hit bookshelves soon. Keys said the novel was a long time in the making — five years to be exact — and follows the story of a young girl from Brooklyn who discovers she has superpowers.

Alicia Keys Drops A Short FIlm For Her ‘Keys’ Album With Appearances From Snoop Dogg, Swae Lee, And More

Last week, Alicia Keys released her eighth album Keys complete with 26 songs for listeners to enjoy. The project also flaunted guest appearances from Pusha T, Lil Wayne, Swae Lee, Lucky Daye, Brandi Carlile, and Khalid. Now that people have been able to spend time with the project, Alicia Keys returns with a new short film to accompany the album. Clocking in just shy of 13 minutes, the film follows her career as a musician from her young days as a child to today as an undeniable star. Snoop Dogg, Swae Lee, Lucky Daye, and her husband and producer Swizz Beatz also make appearances in the film.

Keys arrives a little over a year after Alicia dropped her seventh album Alicia. Her eighth album is divided into two parts — side A, which features stripped-down music produced entirely by Keys herself, and side B, which leans towards a hip-hop-friendly sound thanks to production from Mike Will Made-It. It’s a solid follow-up to 2020’s Alicia, which featured appearances from Jill Scott, Khalid⁣, Miguel, Sampha, Snoh Aalegra, and Tierra Whack. Keys also serves as somewhat of a sequel to Alicia with both bodies of work do a good job of showing the full range of the singer’s artistry.

You can watch the short film for Keys in the video above.
