R&B singer Keyshia Cole will be starring in her own television series on Lifetime. The popular network announced its plans for the new year, which involves a few stars. Aside from Cole, Janet Jackson, TLC, and Kelly Rowland will all have productions with the network.
The “Love” singer’s series will be titled, Keyshia Cole: This Is My Story and premiere during Black Music Month on June 24. She will serve as executive producer. The series will tell the 41-year-old’s origin from growing up in Oakland, California, to being Grammy nominated. Viewers will also get to see the relationship between Cole and her mother in depth. The “Let It Go” singer released a statement regarding her late mother, Frankie Lons.
“This is a story of a daughter’s love for her mother and although my heart remains broken from her untimely passing, I am honored to be sharing it with the world…I miss her every day and even though she is not here, her presence was felt throughout this film. Mom, I love you.”
Fans are expected to hear a new song from the Oakland native when the movie premiers, titled, “Forever Is A Thing.” Her last single, “I Don’t Wanna Be in Love,” was released in 2021 and reached number 43 on the Billboard Hip Hop/R&B charts. Cole is looking forward to releasing a new album under her new record label, BMG.
The new “it” girl in Hip Hop is Ice Spice, and the industry is paying attention to the rising rapper. Days ago, she finally released her debut EP Like…?, and the reactions continue to pour in as Spice’s tracks run up numbers on streaming services. The ongoing social media attention has been beneficial to the Bronx beauty, earning her a few jokes from users. One person’s quip caught the attention of Keyshia Cole, considering the singer was mentioned.
Cole isn’t a stranger to reacting to fans and critics online. She recently defended the portrayal of her mother, Frankie Lons, in her upcoming biopic. This most recent instance was more lighthearted, as someone said a photo of Ice Spice with straight hair was Cole.
It was all in good fun as the Twitter user seemed to give a nod to Keyshia’s red hair looks from the 2000s. The singer took the mention in stride and replied, “That’s @faithevans not me .”
After everyone laughed about it, another user added that the resemblance between Faith and Ice is uncanny.
“[Ice] is pretty af,” Cole replied. “It’s the hair colors! Love her vibes.”
Some are calling for Keyshia to collaborate with the Hip Hop newcomer. We’re not sure if they’ll link up anytime soon, but Cole is said to be working on her final album.
It’s unclear if the project or the biopic will come first, but don’t be surprised if they arrive together. We’ll keep you posted as Keyshia Cole shares more news.
Do you think the three ladies resemble each other?
The loss of a parent is already difficult, but Keyshia Cole has publicly grieved the passing of both her parents. The singer’s mother, Frankie Lons, reportedly died of a drug overdose following years of struggling with addiction. Lons amassed a global following after appearing alongside Cole on reality TV, and her fans took to social media to share more positive memories.
Since then, Cole revealed she was working on a biopic about her life. It was recently announced that actress Debbie Morgan would portray Lons in the forthcoming film. While this seems like good news, a Twitter user accused Cole of “degrading” her late mother “for her benefit.”
“I said it! As soon as @KeyshiaCole momma died she was going to used that opportunity as she always does and make it work for her,” the person wrote. “Now she is making a movie about Frankie she always degrading them for her benefit.”
Keyshia caught wind of the criticism and defended herself against the accusation.
“Degrading my mother. ? I wanted the best for my mom,” she said. “You prefer my story not be my story? At times I have too. But my truth is my truth. I just live mine loud. (while some suffer in silence. But This will come wit all that I do, So speak YOUR TRUTH, but yours ain’t mine. .”
“And I’m addition to that I have recorded a record that will be in the movie dedicated to my mother,” she also stated. “(You all may or may not like it) but….. This movie was healing in some ways for me, so very appreciative of having this happen.”
After Cole responded, several of the singer’s fans also gave the Twitter user a piece of their minds. It didn’t stop the person from continuing to spew harsh comments. Check it out below.

Last night Keyshia Cole went live on Instagram to talk to her fans about her ill fated relationship with NFL free agent Antonio Brown. The Grammy-nominated artist took to Instagram to discuss her relationship with the free-agent wide receiver, days after he shared a video on Instagram speculated to be of Cole showing off a lower back tattoo of his initials.
After recently sharing her new ‘AB’ tattoo on her lower back. Cole took issue with the caption of Brown’s video, which read: “You Ain’t Pimpin Until You Hit An RnB Diva. #FreeAgent #KeepPimpin.”
“It was a little harsh,” Cole said in an Instagram Live with celebrity stylist EJ King. “Maybe he doesn’t know that it was a little harsh for him to say that. Even me speaking to him, he was like, ‘Do you want me to change the caption?’ And I was like no, I don’t want you to change the caption.”
King called the caption “a little insensitive,” adding that if Cole told Brown the latter, “You’ll start to resent him if he’s not in a place of receiving what you’re trying [to say].”
Now AB is telling Keyshia to keep his name out of her mouth…
In a live stream from Dubai Antonio says, “We don’t want you Keyshia” and calls himself a player. He also calls Keyshia a clout chaser and said she hit him up to do something, they did it and that was it and now he wants her to leave him alone. Watch the mess unfold below.
Are Keyshia Cole and Antonio Brown an item? The R&B singer has the Internet buzzing about a potential romance between the two. Throwing gas on the fire, Cole posted a picture of herself sitting next to AB with the caption “Missing him a lot.” The two collaborated on music but appear to have developed a relationship.
Also online, Cole revealed her celibacy vow has come up short, telling fans they can erase that goal she had. You can catch all of her life updates below.
