In footage from the event, he dramatically rips off his mask, then the crowd unsurprisingly goes wild.

Of course, fans are looking forward to seeing RDJ’s comeback, though the announcement also reignited conversation around Jonathan Majors. Majors previously played Kang, and was set to reprise the role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which was announced a couple of years ago. Late last year, however, he was found guilty of assaulting his ex Grace Jabbari. Marvel cut ties with the actor as a result.

The outlet caught up with him in West Hollywood yesterday, where they asked him if he was upset about Marvel Studios’ decision to go a new direction. As expected, he is, as he grew fond of his iconic character. “Yeah, heartbroken,” he explained. “Come on, yeah, of course. I love him. I love Kang.” They went on to ask Majors if he’d ever be interested in playing Kang again in the future. According to him, he’d be in if that’s what fans and Marvel Studios want.

“Hell yeah. … If that’s what the fans want, if that’s what Marvel wants, let’s roll,” Majors confirmed. Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good have been dating since May 2023, when Majors went on trial for domestic abuse against his ex-girlfriend. The court convicted Majors of assault and harassment in April. He was sentenced to a yearlong domestic violence program. Since then, Majors has tried to get back into the good graces of fans and the greater public. Majors danced along to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” at the after party for Good’s new movie. Fans memed the video heavily, but it showed that Majors and Good like being in each other’s company.

In fact, Majors likes being in Good’s company so much that he revealed plans to propose to her. TMZ caught up with Majors in West Hollywood on Tuesday afternoon and asked him the question. “Of course! Of course!” said Majors. He did not go into detail about how much they’ve spoken about marriage, or if they’ve even spoken about it at all. However, he confirmed that both families are in favor of them tying the knot.

Meagan Good has enjoyed a career renaissance in recent years. She divorced from longtime husband DeVon Franklin in 2022 and recently starred in Tyler Perry’s new movie Divorce In The Black. While promoting the film, Good revealed that Perry was the first producer to pay her more than her previous acting opportunities did. Good also stars in the Amazon Prime Video series Harlem. Meagan Good evoked the wrath of the internet during a recent meet and greet. The actress reunited with former co-star Michael Ealy, and greeted him by giving him a long hug. Ealy proceeded to lift her off the ground during said hug. The issue, at least according to people online, though, was that Ealy did not talk or interact with Good’s boyfriend, Jonathan Majors. He greeted everybody else in the group except for the Creed III star. The interaction was widely viewed as a rude gesture towards Majors.

The backlash reached such a fever pitch, in fact, that Meagan Good addressed the video on July 15. The actress took to the Shade Room comment section to set the record straight. According to her, there isn’t any problem between Ealy and Majors. She believes the video was simply taken out of context and over analyzed. “Smh super unfortunate how people don’t have anything better to do than project on others,” she wrote. “And intentionally perpetuate negative misguided commentary on life snippets they have no real context to. It’s sad. Sigh. But still, God bless y’all.”

We live in a world [that props up] men, Black men in particular… as either superheroes or supervillains,” Jonathan Majors continued. “But I’ve come to realize, me, personally, I ain’t none of that… I’m just that guy whose faith has been tested. It has been strengthened by this testimony.”

Hollywood’s finest stars showed up in their best fashions on the Black-tie red carpet at The 4th Annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards held this past Friday, June 21 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. 

The award show highlights recipient contributions across the music, film, media, political, social and creative industries to celebrate their accomplishments and contributions for the Black community. The awards was founded by CEO of Hollywood Unlocked, culture critic, media personality, and talk show host, Jason Lee.

Host Tiffany Haddish wore a black, strapless black gown with a sheer polkadot bottom, while Impact Awards founder, Jason Lee, wore a pink tux jacket styled by Wayman and Micah.

A highlight of the evening was Christian Louboutin receiving the Innovator Award from Sharon Stone, who praised his iconic red soles as the “Rolls Royce of stilettos.” Notably, Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B, who received the Inspiration Award, celebrated Louboutin’s famous red soles in her debut hit “Bodak Yellow,” calling them “Bloody shoes.” Cardi B stunned in a black blazer dress with puff sleeves, tulle gloves, and a long tulle skirt by Fwrd. She completed the look with a side bang, red lip, and crystal jewelry.

Actor Jonathan Majors who received the Perseverance award showed up in a gray suit, alongside girlfriend Meagan Good who was dressed in a gold bedazzled Retrofete gown.

Other award recipients included rap icon Fat Joe (Culture Award), U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett (Social Impact Award), attorney Ben Crump (Community Award), and Grammy-nominated rapper Da Brat and her wife Jesseca Harris-Dupart (Spirit Award).

These distinguished honorees join a prestigious list of previous awardees, including Chlöe Bailey, Law Roach, Whoopi Goldberg, Babyface, Tupac, Catherine Brewton, Floyd Mayweather, Kelis, Karen Bass, and Lizzo.

The 2024 Impact Awards also included special performances from singer and actor Fantasia Barrino, R&B singer-songwriter Lucky Daye, Hip-Hop artist Yellopain and Grammy Award winning gospel singer Karen Clark Sheard. The award show was pre-recorded and will air exclusively on The Zeus Network.

The Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards took place on Friday night (June 21) in Beverly Hills, and one of its biggest moments was the culmination of a long, difficult, but necessary journey. Jonathan Majors received the “Perseverance Award” at the ceremony and gave a 15-minute-ish-long speech on what his mindset is like following his domestic assault and harassment conviction last year. Of course, this “perseverance” doesn’t excuse the actor’s actions, but it does point to him learning from his mistakes, getting another chance at his career, and moving onto better times in his life. Hopefully this accountability, personal healing process, and honesty gives him the fulfillment and peace he needs.

Jonathan Majors did not receive a prison sentence for his domestic assault and harassment conviction, but the court ordered him to participate in domestic violence counseling for a year. It’s unclear what the rest of his legal trajectory will look like, as he also faced another lawsuit connected to the incident recently. This whole scandal became a hot topic of debate on social media, and not even its resolved sentence could quell that fire. Perhaps this just became the final domino to fall on that path.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Majors received his first role since this debacle recently, landing a role in Martin Villenueve’s new revenge thriller Merciless. Late last year, Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Regardless, the actor doesn’t look to be letting his conviction get in the way of his career. Recently, it was revealed that he’ll be starring in an upcoming supernatural thriller film, which will be his first role following his highly publicized trial.

Reportedly, he’s been cast as a CIA investigator who begins to struggle with mental health issues as his love interest is targeted by mysterious forces. The film, titled Merciless, does not yet have an official release date. It’s not been attached to a major studio yet either. It’s being directed by Martin Villeneuve, however, the younger sibling of Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve.

Sound of Freedom‘s Christopher Tuffin will produce the upcoming indie film. He reportedly plans to share more details of the project at the Toronto International Film Festival later this year. Filming is expected to begin this fall, so it’s not looking like it’ll arrive anytime soon. Other cast members have also yet to be announced. Majors’ conviction is likely to stir up some controversy at the heels of his conviction, though it doesn’t appear as though Tuffin will let that stop him from working with whoever he sees fit for the role.

As for Majors’ current legal issues, he’s now facing a lawsuit from Jabbari, the same ex he was on trial for allegedly assaulting.
