Jonathan Majors Avoids Jail Time, Sentenced To Domestic Violence Intervention Program

Jonathan Majors will avoid jail time after being convicted of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment, last December. The disgraced former Marvel actor appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday for his sentencing. Instead of prison, he’ll have to partake in a 52-week domestic violence intervention program that will take place in person in Los Angeles. The prosecution asked for a six-month jail alternative if he fails to complete the program.

Additionally, Majors will have to continue mental health counseling and therapy while providing the court with updates on treatment. His attorney requested that he be able to take all of the sessions virtually. “We are optimistic that Mr. Majors will work in the film industry again soon,” they said. The Judge countered that the matter could be reconsidered if he starts landing roles again.

At the sentencing, Majors’ former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, whom he was convicted of assaulting, read a victim impact statement. “He’s not sorry. He has not accepted responsibility, and he will do this again. He will hurt other women. This is a man who believes he’s above the law,” Jabbari told the court. “I will not rest until I feel that he’s not a danger to anyone else.” Majors did not make a statement because, as his attorney put it, Jabbari would “attempt to use it against him in her civil case.”

Jonathan Majors And Meagan Good “Closer Than Ever” Despite New Allegations

Per several outlets including TMZ and PEOPLE, Jonathan Majors and Megan Good have reportedly moved in together following an LA to New York road trip with a brief Texas detour. Despite Majors’ guilty verdict in his assault trial and other news that broke about the actor this week, the couple is still “very much in love”, according to one source. The pair share a three-month-old puppy. However, this comes as more allegations break about Majors’ alleged behavior on the set of Lovecraft Country.

Meanwhile, a judge has delayed Majors’ sentencing after the actor’s legal team filed to dismiss his guilty verdict. Majors’ team argued that the actor had not been given a fair trial. The argument is based on the premise that the prosecution had portrayed the actor’s assault on his ex-girlfriend as intentional before eventually asking the jury to consider his actions “reckless”. As a result, the presiding judge has continued Majors’ case until early April.

Elsewhere, Two women, Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper, have gone public with allegations of physical and emotional abuse against Majors. Both women had their allegations referred to in a Rolling Stone exposé about Majors last year. However, the pair have since publicly reiterated their claims in an interview with The New York Times. Duncan claims that Majors “threw her across the room” and “threatened to make sure she couldn’t have children” during a fight in 2016. Meanwhile, Hooper called Majors “deeply controlling” and told her she was “not allowed to speak with anyone about the relationship”. Majors has denied the accusations. However, his attorney noted that the actor was “deeply embarrassed by some of his jealous behavior”. Both women had previously declined to speak directly to Rolling Stone, with one citing a fear of retribution.

The testimony of Duncan and Hooper follows semi-public claims from another woman, who spoke to The Cut under a pseudonym. “Anna” told the publication that she had pulled her story from the Rolling Stone article after receiving a threatening letter warning her not to go public with her allegations. According to “Anna”, the phone number included with the letter was linked to the law firm retained by Majors for his criminal trial last year. Majors’ attorney denied any involvement from her or her firm in the letter.

Jonathan Majors Defends Comparing Meagan Good To Coretta Scott King

Last month, Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex, Grace Jabbari. Amid the longwinded trial, audio was played in the courtroom of one of their spats. During the disagreement, Majors demanded that Jabbari be more like Coretta Scott King or Michelle Obama.

Following the verdict, the California-born actor sat down with ABC‘s Linsey Davis for his first post-conviction interview. During the interview, he praised his current partner Meagan Good for standing by him amid the legal battle, once again mentioning the late activist, who was married to Martin Luther King Jr. “She’s an angel,” he said of Good. “She’s held me down like a Coretta. I’m so blessed to have her.” This seemingly got the attention of MLK and Coretta’s daughter, Dr. Bernice King, who appeared to call him out on social media earlier this week.

He recently came to his own defense amid the debacle, noting how much of an inspiration Coretta Scott King is. During a recent chat with TMZ, he called her “a great woman, a very important figure in American and world history, and someone both Meagan and I are inspired by and deeply admire.”

Elsewhere in his ABC interview, Majors also revealed that he believed the evidence presented was in his favor, describing being “shocked” to hear the verdict. “I’m standing there and the verdict comes down. I say, ‘How is that possible based off the evidence, based off the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence? Previously, Majors stated his ex-lover, Grace Jabbari, should act more like King or Michelle Obama as he is a great man. During his Good Morning America interview, Majors revealed his new bae, Meagan Good, is his “Coretta.”

After backlash online and from Dr. Bernice King, the daughter of Dr. King and Coretta Scott King, Majors released a statement to TMZ:

“My intention was to convey the utmost respect for Coretta Scott King, her achievements, and both her personal legacy and the one she shares with her husband, Dr. Martin Luther King.”

Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good’s relationship is reportedly growing stronger amid the former’s ongoing assault trial. Sources close to the couple told TMZ that Good is also struggling to deal with the trial. They say it was difficult for her to listen on while accuser Grace Jabbari described their abusive relationship in court.

In particular, Good is apparently most upset with the text exchanges the alleged victim continues to resurface. She feels Jabbari was manipulative and controlling with Majors. Altogether, the situation is reportedly strengthening her connection with the Creed III actor.

As for Jabbari’s testimony, she claimed that there’s another, more violent, side of Majors. “His face kind of changes when he gets into that place,” Jabbari told the jury. “He’s a big guy so you just want to step back.” Describing her mental state at the time of the relationship, she recalled: “I felt I was existing in his world. Emotionally and physically, all these ways. I didn’t feel my autonomy. I had low self-esteem, I lost weight, I felt unconfident. I felt really dependent on him. He was the only one who knew what went on. I found it hard to [see my family and friends]. I felt I was lying to them.”

Meagan Good has been by Majors’ side throughout the trial in recent weeks. The case stems from Majors’ arrest for allegedly attacking Jabbari in New York on March 25 during a cab ride. Jonathan Majors Called 911 For Alleged Victim Over Possible OD/Suicide

Jonathan Majors called 911 for assistance for his accuser, Grace Jabbari, on the day of his arrest, according to police testimony. Two NYPD officers who responded to the call took the stand on Tuesday amid the actor’s ongoing misdemeanor assault trial. They revealed Majors was concerned about a possible overdose or suicide and that they found Jabbari on the floor in Majors’ apartment when they arrived.

When she came to, Jabbari was worried whether Majors was around and asked why her ear hurt, seemingly unable to recall. While the ear injury is one of the causes of the trial, officers didn’t ask how she obtained it at the time. Jabbari did, however, tell the officers that Majors hit her in the head several times and grabbed her by the throat.

Officers also noted a small amount of blood on Majors’ comforter and that his jacket was missing a button. They had Jabbari fill out a domestic violence report. Additionally, Majors’ 911 call was played for the jury. In the audio, he says “she’s unconscious,” and describes her as “my ex-partner.” The operator instructed Majors to “keep an eye on her breathing.”

Jabbari previously testified on the stand, detailing her violent relationship with Majors. In doing so, she said she was often afraid of the Creed III actor and recalled several concerning incidents. She said: “I felt I was existing in his world. Emotionally and physically, all these ways. I didn’t feel my autonomy. I had low self-esteem, I lost weight, I felt unconfident, I felt really dependent on him. He was the only one who knew what went on. I found it hard to [see my family and friends]. Jonathan Majors arrived in court for opening statements in his assault and harassment case in New York City on Monday. His girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, stood by his side as they walked into the courthouse. Majors faces misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment for an alleged altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The London-based movement coach is expected to testify in the case.

Jabbari claims the Creed III actor attacked her after she snatched his cellphone out of his hands during a taxi ride in Chinatown. She had seen a message reading, “I wish I was kissing you right now,” from another woman. She says he twisted her finger and put her arm behind her back while hitting her ear. From there, he picked her up and threw her back inside the car when she attempted to get out.

Majors has pleaded not guilty to the six misdemeanor assault and three misdemeanor harassment charges. He argues that Jabbari was the aggressor in the altercation. “Jonathan Majors, the real victim in this shameful ordeal, has had his life, career, and reputation torn apart. Yet he remains unwavering in his determination to be absolved from this harrowing ordeal,” Majors’ lawyers wrote in a statement after his arrest. Three months after the arrest, police arrested Jabbari as well, claiming there to be probable cause that she assaulted Majors. However, the district attorney’s office quickly dropped the case.
