Jerrod Carmichael’s new HBO series has mostly been a hit among fans since premiering last month. One joke about the comedian and his white boyfriend, however, recently sparked outrage among viewers. “My boyfriend, he makes me smarter, he makes me read. I have so many books. Realistically I’m not gonna read all those books. He knows that. But the fact that I bought them says I love you. They’re little monuments around my apartment just like ‘look at this book from Amazon that I’m never gonna read,’” he said on an episode of the show. “I sometimes joke to him that our relationship is like that of a slave and a master’s son  — who, like, teaches me how to read by candlelight.”

The controversial concept of race-based sexual slave play didn’t sit right with many, prompting Carmichael to receive a great deal of backlash. According to him, however, people are taking things completely out of context. He addressed the public’s reaction to the joke during his recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, clarifying that the joke wasn’t actually about sex at all.

“It made it seem like I was talking like I’m into some type of race, sexual slavery roleplay with my boyfriend, which is untrue. It’s something people have been reporting on. It’s about my boyfriend reading so much, he makes me feel insecure about my level of reading.”

Jacob Elordi recently received assault accusations from a radio producer in Australia, which led to a full-on investigation from New South Wales’ police department. Moreover, according to Variety, this claim comes from producer Joshua Fox, who works on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS FM. His account, shared on the program’s most recent broadcast, is that he ran into the actor at a Sydney hotel and jokingly asked him for his bathwater to give to colleague Jackie O, a reference to his recent appearance in the film Saltburn that received multiple Golden Globes nominations this year. However, an important element of this story is that Fox filmed him during this, and he requested that he stop and get rid of relevant clips.

“‘I refuse to because I feel uncomfortable right now, and this is the only evidence,’” Fox seemingly recalled telling Jacob Elordi. “And then Jacob kind of just flips, and he kind of pushes me against the wall, and his hands are on my throat.” This is all speculative and based on accusations at press time, and the police investigation will likely yield more solid results. Malone took over as head coach in 2015, immediately turning around an ailing team that hadn’t had a winning season since 2013. He got them above .500 in his second year and back to the playoffs in his fourth. Furthermore, he helped develop Nikola Jokić into a back-to-back MVP.

Malone has been incredibly vocal throughout the playoffs. He lamented the media fixation on the Lakers despite his side sweeping them. Furthermore, he refused to let the Nuggets get complacent despite their NBA Finals dominance. Before the series-clinching Game 5, he told the team to play like they were desperately in need of a win. The treatment paid off, as the Nuggets put on a historic Finals performance to bring the Larry O’Brien to Denver.

Malone Trolls LeBron

However, now his job is done, Malone is ready to be a little more light-hearted. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Malone couldn’t help but troll LeBron James. The moment came after a question about the Lakers’ adjustments in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. “Well, a really good question, and speaking of the Lakers: I just want you guys to know, this is breaking news, I’m thinking about retiring, so don’t tell anybody.” Malone quickly confirmed he was joking and that team owners did not need to start looking for a replacement.

The quip, of course, was a dig at Lakers veteran LeBron James. LeBron publicly floated the idea that he might retire his offseason after the Lakers were swept by the Nuggets. It came just days after representatives claimed that the gun Morant was seen with on May 13 was fake. However, Silver was quick to shut down any debate about the authenticity of the gun.

“It’s interesting,” Silver said. “The very issue for Ja, certainly in the first incident, was treating a gun as a toy. That’s what we’re talking about and that’s what I think the danger is to society. Taking a gun, live streaming it without getting into gun issues in terms of the propriety of owning guns and the use of guns. I think everyone agrees that gun safety is critically important and that guns aren’t toys. “It’s something that I’m thinking a lot about because, again, I’m not going to get into specifics about the investigation. But in fact, if you’re live streaming something to the world that looks exactly like a gun and in a frankly reckless manner, should it matter whether or not it’s a real gun?.” However, that’s not all Silver had to say about Morant.

Toward the end of the interview, Silver made a not-so-subtle dig at Morant. After Patrick said he was going to get Adam Sandler to do an anti-carrying PSA for the league, Silver commented that it could carry a “double meaning”. If the dig wasn’t clear enough, Patrick tore down the veil completely as he agreed with Silver. “Yeah absolutely, the Ja Morant Anti-Carrying Policy,” Patrick said.

It was something of a surprising comment from the usually reserved NBA Commissioner. However, reactions to his comments were fairly muted on social media. 50 Cent Is Very Amused With Chelsea Handler’s Stand-Up

According to her Howard Stern interview, she called him “the worst thing you could say to a black person, short of calling him the n-word” to sever ties. While the rapper never responded, the bad blood vanished, as just two year later he posted a picture of them together. “I think Chelsea turns me on because she crazier then me lol,” he wrote in its caption.

Meanwhile, the two have kept up a pretty nice relationship over the years since, albeit with some caveats. Lil Nas X just jokingly dissed 50 Cent on Twitter, and responses clapped back so much that he muted the conversation. Moreover, he responded to a tweet with a cheeky and jesting message (in typical fashion), delivered briefly to his audience of 8 million followers. Furthermore, the tweet in question was a picture of both 50 and Nas X, basically comparing “rappers then” to “rappers now.” Not only that, but the user who posted the meme-like comparison said they saw it as a downfall for the genre. Then, the “INDUSTRY BABY” responded with a light jab at 50, but one that clearly aimed more at people who take offense to his claims that he’s better.

“This is not fair youre comparing a legend who has changed music forever to 50 cent,” he wrote. At the time of writing this article, the Queens legend hasn’t addressed or responded to either of these messages. Shortly after publishing them, though, the MONTERO rapper posted a screenshot of him muting the conversation for that tweet. As such, he probably got too much hate in his comments section and decided this time to just ignore it rather than clap back at it with a funny tweet like he usually does.

Lil Nas X Throws Some Funny Shade At 50 Cent

All that said, to see 50 respond to the Georgia-born artist would be interesting, to say the least, as he could go ay direction with it. Much like the “In Da Club” rapper himself, Nas X also likes to stir the pot and cause a ruckus online for his words and takes. However, some of that behavior turned damaging earlier this week. Moreover, his tweet about “gays in Africa” caught a lot of fire, primarily because it came soon after sweeping anti-LGBTQIA+ laws passed in Uganda.

With that in mind, if this actually becomes a feud and doesn’t land as the joke it is, things might get ugly. After all, 50’s no stranger to controversy himself, and has a fanbase as passionate and as numerous as Lil Nas X’s to this day. Sure, many could debate that last point either way, but they really do represent two different sides of hip-hop.
