On Tuesday (September 19), Sheeran opened up for John Mayer at his Heart And Armor Foundation concert in Los Angeles. He performed a handful of unexpected covers, including an acoustic rendition of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.” The rapper shared a video of the performance on his Instagram with his approval: “Ed Sheeran right now in LA at the John Mayer concert Killing sh*t ! BOOM,” he wrote in the caption.
The comments are polarized. Some fans also enjoy the cover and think Ed can pull of anything with his acoustic guitar, others ask the simple question: “What am I hearing?” Busta Rhymes, however, was in the comments with a slew of fire emojis, also expressing approval.
50 Cent shared Ed Sheeran’s acoustic cover of his hit song, “In Da Club,” on Instagram, Tuesday. Moreover, the G-Unit mogul recently found a clip of Chris Tucker joking about the King of Pop’s love for his massive hit, “In Da Club.” Overall, Fif found it quite amusing, especially considering fans who might not have known about the connection between these two. On Sunday (August 20), he took to Instagram to share the clip in question, captioning it with “yo chris is cr*zy, who didn’t like that one LOL.” If you didn’t think that MJ was tapped in with other music during his era, then think again.
“He liked rap,” Chris Tucker said of the musical and cultural icon. “He liked that 50 Cent song ‘In Da Club,’ he liked the beat. So he’d be jamming to the beat. Today, we’re spotlighting Lakeyah’s “In Da Club,” which finds the 22-year-old making great use of J-Kwon’s “Tipsy” beat. “One, here comes the two to three to the four / Every b**ch around me want the milli’ and amor,” Lakeyah reimagines the original lyrics on the first verse. “A ni**a whisper to me that he tryna see me more / I whisper back, ‘I am not a b**ch you can afford,’” she confidently continues just a few bars later.
As AllHipHop notes, J-Kwon’s classic song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2004. It appeared on his Hood Hop LP, which also boasts tracks like “You & Me” featuring Sadiyyah and “My Enemies” with Jermaine Dupri. The last album we heard from the rapper was his self-titled effort in March 2010. While he’s not generating hits like he used to, it’s certainly nice to see the industry pay homage to the past generation of artists.

On Drink Champs, Tony Yayo provided a hilarious account of what went on that day. He explained that dancers and extras on the set began panicking as they yelled, “Suge is coming!” He detailed a chaotic environment as pieces of the set and cameras fell to the ground while crew members fled. “Look, Suge came but this is why I always respected Eminem, 50 Cent and n***as that was with us,” he said. Yayo explained that he was startled by the individuals rolling with Suge due to their face tattoos. Still, he was ready for war, explaining, “If we don’t pop now, it’s back to the hood.”
While Eminem, 50 Cent, and their crew were ready to fight against Suge Knight and his crew of alleged Blood members, Yayo explained that the Death Row CEO was largely waiting to see what happened before he acted. “This the sh*t about Suge. He’ll light the cigar – he trying to see what you’re going to do,” he said. “Eminem, 50, everyone outside. [Suge] lights his cigar. I was buggin’ ‘cause I seen – this is when I knew Eminem was real. He was like, ‘I don’t give a f*ck, man,’” Yayo said in his best Eminem impression. “I was like, ‘Damn, Eminem is a real n***a.’”
Yayo continued, “50’s n***as outside, [like], ‘Wassup?!’ and then the n***a Suge just walked away. Mexican n***as looked kind of confused like they didn’t know what was going on. Eminem came outside 100%.” Again, Yayo reiterated that Eminem stated, “I don’t give a f**k, man!’” and explained that Proof previously had a run-in with Suge Knight where he accused the music mogul of murdering Tupac. Ja Rule and 50 Cent will never see eye-to-eye but most would agree that the latter came out the victor in their back-and-forth. However, it seems like Ja Rule will never live down his loss in his battle against Fif.

Case in point — Ja Rule’s performance at in Omaha, Nebraska in December. Power 106.9’s Jingle Jam booked Ja Rule to perform at the Baxter Arena. However, he was quickly reminded of his feud with the “21 Questions” rapper before he was even able to hit the stage.
Footage circulated over the past few days of the DJ playing 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” at the venue. It’s unclear at what point in the show this was but it clearly didn’t sit well with Ja’s team. Shortly after, a member of the rapper’s crew tried to shut things down. “Stop the show right here,” one person said. Another person says afterward, “Aye, cut that shit off!”
Though the footage is a month old, there hasn’t been any statement from Ja Rule about the matter. Chances are, he won’t be speaking about it any time soon. Or perhaps, he wasn’t even aware of what was going on at the time.
50 Cent, on the other hand, didn’t waste any time chiming in. He shared the footage on his Instagram page, revealing that he wished he was responsible for the mishap on stage.
“LOL Now this is some funny shit ! I wish i had something to do with it,” he captioned the post.
The feud between the two parties goes as far back as 1999. Though things died down for a while in the early 2010s, 50 Cent didn’t hold back on dissing Ja Rule whenever the opportunity came up.
