Ka, Iconic Underground Rapper, Dead At 52

Ka, the iconic Brooklyn rapper known for his prolific output of underground albums, has died at the age of 52, according to a statement on his official Instagram page. The announcement describes his passing as “unexpected” and does not mention a cause of death. His family has asked for privacy as they mourn his tragic passing.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Kaseem Ryan (1972-2024), the rapper and producer known as Ka, who died unexpectedly in New York City on October 12, at the age of 52,” his family wrote. “Born and raised in Brownsville, Brooklyn, Ka lived a life of service—to his city, to his community, and to his music. As a 20-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department, he put his life on the line to protect his fellow citizens. Ka rose to the rank of FDNY captain and was a first responder on September 11, 2001 during the attacks on the World Trade Center.”

The statement continues: “He leaves an extraordinary Legacy as a recording artist, including eleven remarkable self-released solo albums. Ka is survived by his wife, mother and sister. We kindly ask that the privacy of Ka’s family and loved ones be respected as they grieve this incalculable loss.” Fans have already begun pouring in with tributes to the late rapper in the comments section. Many mention how big of an impact Ka’s music had on their lives. “Sending all the love I can send. I’m so sorry for you all. His music has done a lot for me,” one user wrote. Another added: “Long live to one of the greatest writers to grace a mic.”

Cardi B recently had a wild birthday party for her 32nd, and she wanted to share some curious insight into her look and mood for the night. “So let me tell ya about my little thotty dress..” she captioned an Instagram post showing her and the night off. “the dress I was gonna wear for my birthday was a little too small and there wasn’t enough fabric… so I got my a** in a truck and went to Staten dolls gentlemen’s club where I worked at for four years and bought this little dress because baby NOTHING was gonna stop this night… I love the fact that they don’t see me like CARDI B.. they still treat me like CAMILLA (Fun fact.. that was my stripper name [crying-laughing emojis]).”

While some fans just thirsted for Cardi B or congratulated her on her birthday, others were very curious to finally learn what her stage name as a stripper was. When Baller Alert reshared the snippet on Instagram, fans had mixed responses. “Halle frequently previews her music on IG and it nearly always revolves around love. Let’s not read too much into it,” one user remarked. Another fan of Bailey’s wrote: “See! This what he should’ve did. DDG first confirmed the two would be parting ways in a statement on his Instagram Story from October 3rd. “After much reflect and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote at the time. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.” He confirmed that the two will remain friends. They welcomed their first child together, late last year.

Ari Lennox Details Plan To Depart From Social Media

Ari Lennox has revealed that she plans to delete her social media pages this coming December. In an Instagram post on Friday, she explained how damaging being online has been to her mental health and how she plans to resolve the issue.

“I’m working on a plan to transition off of social media for good,” she began in the lengthy caption of a mirror selfie. “I don’t believe I’ll ever mature and be happy as long as i have it. So my last day of socials will be December 18th, my 2 year sobriety anniversary. I will be deleting my FB, IG and TikTok permanently. The fear of losing brand deals, music sales, n****s and b*tches will no longer keep me here.”

My happiness is worth more to me, than using these platforms to promote. I truly believe I can get creative with marketing elsewhere. I’m so exhausted with my addiction to the internet and gossip and attention and validation and yearning to be in control and over sharing. I just want to be free and complete.”

From there, he shared several other places fans will be able to interact with her, including her YouTube channel, her website, or in person at her shows. Halle Bailey Breaks Her Silence After DDG Breakup

Drake Claims He’s Spending Money To Help Young Thug Beat RICO Charge

Young Thug is beloved in the rap game. The Atlanta icon is a true original who has racked up hits with just about every notable artist of the last decade. He has, however, had his career drastically slow down due to a RICO charge. The rapper has been on trial since 2022, and is looking at five to 20 years behind bars if convicted. Several of Thugger’s peers have voiced their support on social media, but Drake made it clear that he’s doing more. The Toronto superstar hopped on Instagram to claim that he’s putting his money where his mouth is.

Drake posted a IG selfie on October 10. The rapper did his infamous duck face, but the caption had a far more serious tone. “I ain’t talking to talk man,” he assured followers. “I really put on the 3 Jeff.” He doesn’t mention Young Thug by his professional name, but the emojis and the mention of “Jeff”, Thug’s real name, make his message clear. Drizzy didn’t get into detail as to how much he’s spending on Thug, or what he’s spending it on, but he’s proven to be good for it. Top5, another Toronto artist, was recently released from prison, and he thanked Drake for the help. “Shoutout big bro @champagnepapi for the Lawyer Fees & Gary Grill for being the best lawyer in Toronto,” Top5 wrote on Instagram.”

Drake Has Repeatedly Voiced Support For Thugger

Drake has also been following the Young Thug case closely. He was disappointed to learn that phone call between Thugger and his girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist, was leaked in January. He got on an Akademiks live stream to voice his frustration. Sh*t is disgraceful,” he wrote in the comment section. “Gotta be some form of jail misconduct… You gonna drag this talented man then not be able to control your employees using his personal business for their own gain?” Drake has also shown love on the music side of things.

The 6 God had two guest verses on BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, Young Thug’s last album. He also talked about Thug’s predicament on the recent song, “It’s Up.” He admitted that he’s worried for the safety and well-being of the former Rich Gang star. “I can’t sleep at night with Thug at Cobb County Corrections” he rapped. “I think he did enough reflecting, I think my brother learned his lesson.” Drake and Thugger have had hits dating back to 2017. Their biggest joint single, “Way 2 Sexy,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2021. It remains Thug’s last number one to date.

Kiya Shuts Down Rumors That She’s Dating Lil Baby After IG Scandal

Lil Baby stepped into a heap of controversy on September 27. The rapper’s ex-girlfriend, Jayda Cheaves, seemingly threw shade at a woman named Kiya on Instagrm. Kiya was suspected to be the new girlfriend of Lil Baby, based on some of the Instagram comments Jayda Cheaves was making. “Oh Lil Baby done up the scoreeeee,” she wrote under photos of Kiya flexing new gifts. “Okayyy!!! Baby fine & she’s an RN. Oh u deserve everything Ms. mamas.” Kiya liked the comment, all but confirming to fans that she and Lil Baby were an item. Evidently, this is not the case.

Kiya, who reportedly works as a nurse, set the record straight on October 10. She hopped on Instagram and told followers that she is not dating Lil Baby. Furthermore, she didn’t get the gifts from the rapper, either. “Those gifts were not from him,” she wrote on her IG Story. “We do not date.” It looks like there’s nothing more to the story. Lil Baby has not commented at all on the Kiya or the Jayda situation. It’s a bit confusing as to how the rumors gained so much traction to begin with, given how little the focus of the rumor was involved, but such is the internet in 2024.

Lil Baby is no stranger to dating rumors. The rapper, who shares a child with Jayda Cheaves, was also linked to rapper Saweetie in 2022. Saweetie posted a photo sitting on someone’s lap shortly after she split from Quavo, and many theorized that it was Baby’s lap. The rapper was asked about the photo on his Big Facts podcast appearance. “Nah,” he asserted. “It may seem like that. For, real. No… We got on the same pants right now.”

The answer seemed to satisfy the Big Facts host, but many fans were quick to point out that Baby seemingly addressed the Saweetie situation on his song “Not Finished.” He doesn’t mention any one person by name, but the context seems pretty applicable. “She post a picture without my permission,” he spit. “Got me in some sh*t, man, these women is wild. Drake Shows Love To J Cole After Being Referenced In New Song

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been the dominant rap story of 2024. For good reason. They are the two defining artists of their generation, both in terms of acclaim and success. Drake and J Cole are a similarly fascinating story, though. The duo have been working together since 2010, and they reunited on the hit single “First Person Shooter” in 2023. You know, the one that ignited the whole “Big Three” war to begin with. J Cole ducked out of the war, leaving Drake to go at Kendrick Lamar on his own. Cole said as much on his new song, “Port Antonio.” And Drake seemingly listened.

J Cole dropped “San Antonio” out of the blue on October 9. Fans were excited to get new music, but no one could have predicted the lyrical topics that Cole takes on. He addresses the “Big Three” beef head on, and even calls out Drake by name during one of his verses. He makes it clear that he doesn’t dislike the 6 God, and acknowledges how much help he’s given him in his career. “They say I’m picking sides, don’t you lie on me, my n**ga,” J Cole spits. “The start of another war, hey Drake, you’ll always be my n**ga. I ain’t ashamed to say you did a lot for me, my n**ga.” The Toronto rapper seemingly respected what Cole had to say. He liked the Instagram post that initially uploaded the song.

The timing of the shout out is interesting. Drake recently made headlines for less than stellar reasons. He made an appearance at a public event in Toronto, and proceeded to talk about how those he considered friends have stabbed him in the back. “My real friends are definitely in the building,” the 6 God explained to the crowd. “You’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were friends, or people you thought were close to you, switch up.” Based on the fact that J Cole not only apologized for dissing Kendrick Lamar, but proceeded to work with several of Drake’s enemies, it’s safe to assume he is among the fake friends Drake mentioned.

J Cole spent the rest of the song explaining why he didn’t want to beef with Drake and K. Dot. In his estimation, he didn’t want to be remembered for ragging on people he considered peers. He also was opposed to digging up dirt on people he’s known well for years. “Jermaine is no king,” he raps. “If that means I gotta dig up dirt. And pay the whole team of algorithm bot n**gas just to sway the whole thing on social media, competing for ya favorable memes.” Here’s hoping J Cole’s olive branch is enough to mend things between him and Drake.

50 Cent Expects Diddy To Get Out On Bail After His Next Hearing

50 Cent says that he expects Diddy to get out on bail after his next court hearing and advised his followers to keep their same energy when he’s not behind bars. He made the statement in a since-deleted post on Instagram caught by DJ Akademiks. “Diddy gonna make bail his next court date, so all this sh*t y’all been saying, keep the same energy,” 50 wrote. “Don’t you even try to take that post down!”

Authorities first arrested Diddy on charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering in New York, last month. A judge denied his initial request to get out on bail shortly afterward, and in turn, he resides at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

The trolling from 50 Cent isn’t limited to just social media. He recently announced that Netflix is producing his docuseries about the allegations surrounding Diddy. “This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” 50 Cent and director Alexandria Stapleton said in a statement to Variety. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives. While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’ story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.”
