GloRilla’s lyrics make her sound just as bada** as her contemporaries. Still, throughout her rise to fame, the Memphis native has kept us laughing with her ignorance on several topics. There was the time when she stressed out her stylist by throwing rented sunglasses into the crowd. This prompted the rap diva’s team to snatch them back from an enthusiastic fan. Elsewhere, she also faced considerable backlash for posting a throwback photo with a gun on social media – a decision which has had seriously negative impacts on the careers of other Black stars.

The most recent reason for Big Glo to raise eyebrows was due to a link-up with Fivio Foreign. Rather than speculating about the pair being in a relationship, hip-hop heads are questioning what prompted the 24-year-old to throw up a gang sign while she was posing with the New Yorker. As DJ Akademiks pointed out, the “F.N.F.” hitmaker was “dropping the rakes” alongside her fellow artist, which is a diss directed toward the Gangster Disciples gang,

GloRilla Explains Throwing Up Gang Signs with Fivio

Upon hearing about the stir being raised by concerned users, Glo shared a statement on Facebook addressing the situation. “I thought he was telling me to throw up his gang,” the rising starlet clarified earlier this week. “I did not know what it meant until after we took da picture 🙄🙄🙄🙄,” she added, clearly annoyed by all the drama unfolding. Now that that’s cleared up, the black-haired beauty can get back on preparing her debut album, which she began teasing last month.

Fivio Foreign isn’t the only celebrity that GloRilla has been spotted out and about with so far this month. Earlier in September, she and SZA linked up to attend one of Beyonce’s three star-studded concerts in Los Angeles. Both of them donned bold and beautiful silver outfits at the Virgo Queen’s request. Who Are The Award Presenters For The 2023 MTV VMAs?

Tonight (September 12) in Newark, New Jersey, the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards are being held at the Prudential Center.

With just a few hours to go until the official awards show kicks off, they have unveiled the slate of presenters who will be helping out. Fans can expect to catch Chloe and Halle Bailey, Dove Cameron, GloRilla, Reneé Rapp, Sabrina Carpenter, and more stars taking the stage to hand out the spaceman trophies.

Saweetie, who is among the show presenters, will be hosting the pre-show that starts at 6:30 p.m.

The VMAs have also revealed some of the night’s biggest honorees ahead of time. Shakira will be receiving the Video Vanguard Award. Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to get the Global Icon Award. And both are on the lineup to perform tonight.

Fans will be able to watch the show live starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Lil Baby Concert Shooting: What We Know

Thursday night, a man was shot and injured during a Lil Baby concert at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. Fans were forced to evacuate the venue, with no other injuries being reported. The Atlanta rapper was performing alongside Rylo Rodriguez when the incident occurred. He was rushed off stage immediately after the shots were fired. Currently, the shooter’s identity is unknown, and Memphis Police have yet to make an arrest. However, they concluded that the shooting was premeditated and the victim was targeted. As police conduct their investigation, here is what we know so far about the Lil Baby concert shooting.

Initial Reporting

The Memphis Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the FedEx Forum during Lil Baby’s performance around 10:23 p.m. on Thursday (September 7). One concertgoer, Clarissa Johnson, told WREG Memphis she “heard a pop” before evacuating the venue. “I’m still not sure what happened. It’s not so sweet tonight, though,” she said. The shooting victim, later reportedly identified as Young Dolph’s cousin, CEO Jizzle, was said to have been in critical condition when police responded before being rushed to Regional One Health Medical Center. The incident reportedly occurred on the first floor near the stage. The victim is no longer in critical condition today, and no other injuries have since been reported.

Statements From Police, Venue, & Performers

Following the shooting, the Memphis Police Department released a statement. They are investigating how a weapon managed to get inside the arena as all fans walk through a metal detector when entering. The shooter’s identity is unknown, and police are actively working to find the culprit. The FedEx Forum also released a statement echoing the goals of the police’s investigation. GloRilla, who was scheduled to perform at the show, commented on the situation. In a social media post, the rapper expressed frustration of her hometown. She said, “Memphis is ghetto as f**k. We been on this tour this whole f*****g time and today they want to f*****g shoot. It ain’t been a shootout at not a one of these shows… Man, this some ghetto s**t. It ain’t even funny, for real.” In addition to GloRilla’s remarks, Lil Baby also took to social media after the shooting.

Lil Baby Assured Fans Their Refunds

While not commenting on the incident, Lil Baby took to Twitter, assuring fans they would be refunded. “Unfortunately I couldn’t perform last night in Memphis. Ima make sure everybody gets a refund tho,” he said in the since-deleted tweet. The rapper also released a statement on his Instagram story, citing “unforeseen circumstances” that prevented him from giving fans a full performance. Baby’s show the following night at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, has also been canceled following the shooting. The rest of his upcoming shows on his It’s Only Us Tour are scheduled to take place as planned.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the lives of concertgoers have been threatened by violence. Shootings, bomb threats, sexual assault, and even crowd-stampedes have become all too common in live music settings. Gloss Up is a Memphis rapper who happens to be GloRilla’s best friend and Lil Baby’s labelmate on Quality Control. She’s shown up on tracks with the likes of Lakeyah and Sexyy Red, and has a growing following based on her relatable ratchet raps.

Rylo Rodriguez is an artist on Lil Baby’s 4 Pockets Full imprint, who gained a certain amount of online infamy with the goofy cover for his mixtape, GOAT In Human Form. The hilarity was amplified with the revelation that he didn’t even realize GOAT is an acronym for “Greatest Of All Time” until this year.

Memphis songstress, GloRilla continues to have a knack for bringing wild energy to a track. Even when a song is a bit more low-key, the rapper can turn the levels up to 1000 in a hurry. For example, look at her feature from Don Toliver’s latest record, Love Sick. She lays down a feature on the third track, “Leave The Club,” which also includes Lil Durk. Toliver is singing and rapping about leaving the nightlife to head back to his place to get things more intimate if you will.

However, near the backend of the track, the beat picks up and changes to where GloRilla can come in and dominate it. Her deep rumble provides a menacing element that you might not expect. The desire to impress the “Halo” hitmaker was the highest on Monday (September 4) night, as she celebrated her 42nd birthday while performing at SoFi Stadium. Plenty of celebrities were in attendance at all three of Bey’s Los Angeles concerts, but those closest to her inner circle (or the top of her fanbase) did their best to secure tickets.

Among the starlets who stepped out were the Kardashian sisters, with Khloe and Kim stepping up for Kourtney in lieu of her recent alleged health scare. They brought her daughter, Penelope, along with their own kids to watch the show, and it seems a blast was had by all. Elsewhere, GloRilla and SZA linked up at Beyonce’s performance, posing for a photo together in their “ALIEN SUPERSTAR” inspired outfits.
