‘The Crow’ Trailer: FKA Twigs and Bill Skarsgård in Epic Fight for Their Souls in Highly Anticipated Remake

‘The Crow’ Trailer: FKA Twigs and Bill Skarsgård in Epic Fight for Their Souls in Highly Anticipated Remake

Do you remember The Crow? Great film. It is a tragic real-life situation that resulted in the untimely death of Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, being shot on set back in 1994.

It’s been decades since The Crow, and now the remake starring FKA Twigs and Bill Skarsgård has a new trailer. The Crow is bound for a summer release on June 7. Originally based on the graphic novel by James O’Barr, Skarsgård takes over the reins as the titular character Eric Draven, who is a man who finds the love of his life, Shelly Webster, played by FKA Twigs, until both love birds, no pun intended are murdered “at the hands of evil men, leading Eric’s soul to come back to Earth as a violent anti-hero wanting revenge” as reported by Shadow and Act.

“Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right,” from the synopsis.

This is a big deal for the cast and director as FKA Twigs, Skarsgård, and director Rupert Sanders are stoked to finally bring O’Barr’s universe back for all to see. “I am so thrilled to be in THE CROW alongside the talented Bill Skarsgård and extraordinary director Rupert Sanders,” FKA Twigs said. “The love Bill and I share on screen is effortless and indicative of the authenticity and ease that I dreamed of bringing to the role of Shelley. Eric and Shelley’s unbreakable unity is so profound and beautiful, something I hope we all feel at least once as part of the human experience. I am so excited that the trailer is being unveiled and even more excited to have the world see the film this summer.”

“The Crow is the original anti-superhero. His story is about tragic loss, about dealing with the pain of everything that comes with losing someone you love, something that all of us have or will encounter at some point in our lives. It is about the dark shadow of grief, about what we would do when something so meaningful is taken from us,” from Sanders, who also added how the mid nineties film of The Crow starred the iconic and late, Brandon Lee. “The original graphic novel is deeply meaningful for so many, and the character, his journey and his need for revenge has inspired a canon of films for the last three decades. Our version goes back to that graphic novel by James O’Barr, who I had the honour of meeting shortly before production, and explores the love story as the primary drive for our film,” he said. “What Alex Proyas did with The Crow in 1994 – and Brandon Lee’s iconic embodiment of that character – will forever impact that generation and others to follow. It was a culture-defining film that is beloved to this day and has inspired many other iterations both inside and outside The Crow Universe.”

“That film sparked a fire with the youth of that day, a youth who grew up on hard, alternative rock, punk and metal, that binged on MTV and zines. It held a mirror to that generation in the aesthetic of the film, its smoky, rain-drenched streets, stylized and subverted sets, its leather-clad hero and chain wielding villains. It expressed its time in a very specific, music-driven vision, that spoke to a young audience who had never been spoken to in that way. It became a cult classic,” Sanders added. “Our interpretation of James’ work also reflects this young generation, whose tastes and references have changed so dramatically from the original film. Hopefully it speaks to them in their language, with their style and music and hopefully will get them to discover Alex Proyas’ film and James O’Barr’s graphic novel, bringing a new audience to the source material.”

Sanders also described the story as “as universal as an epic poem or Greek myth” because it ” deals with the very primal, naturalistic emotions of love, grief and rage and it also deals with the supernatural and physiological imaginings of heaven and hell, the dead and the undead.”

“It explores the great positive force of love and the great negative force of rage and hate that stands in its shadow, it asks what would we do, but also what would we have become by doing so. When Eric slumps to the floor, covered in the blood of the slain, we look deep into his eyes and he asks us…why?” he continued. “I am very pleased to have worked with two young actors whose performances are the backbone of this film. Bill Skarsgård is so committed and vulnerable, monstrously violent and delicately tender, he brings so many layers to the complex emotion of a man consumed with so much love and hate, but also a man who will do anything for the woman he loves. He fights, numb with pain and grief, killing and maiming for the one he loves…but to what end? FKA Twigs brings the same unique and wondrous talent that she does to her entire volume of work and her performance and the vacuum created by her absence undoubtedly gives reason for this Crow to be born.”

The Crow also stars Danny Huston and is written by Zach Baylin and William Schneider, based on O’Barr’s original graphic novel. Edward R. Pressman, Samuel Hadida, Victor Hadida, John Jencks, and Molly Hassell are producing

A Calvin Klein Ad That Allegedly Presents FKA Twigs As A ‘Stereotypical Sexual Object’ Is Now Banned In The UK

A controversial Calvin Klein advertisement has been banned in the United Kingdom. The ad, which features recording artist FKA Twigs, debuted last April and sees Twigs standing in the center of the photo nude, covered in loose-fitting clothing.

According to a report from Rolling Stone, the ad prompted several complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority. The ASA reportedly ruled that the ad can no longer be displayed in its originally printed form in public, arguing that it depicts Twigs as a “sexual object.”

“The ad used nudity and [centered] on FKA twigs’ physical features rather than the clothing, to the extent that it presented her as a stereotypical sexual object,” the ASA said in a statement. “We therefore concluded the ad was irresponsible and likely to cause serious [offense].”

At the time of writing, neither Twigs nor Calvin Klein have commented directly on the ban. Last year, upon the campaign’s launch, Twigs spoke to Rolling Stone expressing pride in her images.

“Doing [this campaign] means I can be who I am — A strong woman. That isn’t going to go in and out of fashion,” said Twigs at the time. “”When I’m in my 60s and have grandchildren, I can show them these pictures and say, ‘Your grandmother was strong.’”

Robert Pattinson & FKA Twigs Relationship Timeline

FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson endured one of the most difficult public relationships in the mid-2010s. Twigs was on a swift rise to fame for her eclectic, acclaimed debut album. Pattinson on the other hand, was already a certified heartthrob, thanks to his role in the Twilight film franchise. Amid the ever-watchful eye of the public, their relationship was marred by Pattinson’s fans, who constantly mocked and disrespected the talented singer and artist.

While the pair strived to make it work, their relationship eventually came to an end after three years. Despite it all, they have found renewed love in other people. Robert Pattinson is currently dating Suki Waterhouse, and the couple are expecting their first child together. Twigs has also found a new love in the brilliant artist, Jordan Hemingway, and is greatly focused on her music. Nonetheless, from the start of their relationship, to its end, Pattinson and Twigs were a beautiful couple that were ultimately heading down different paths. Here’s a timeline of their relationship.

Summer 2014: Blooming Beginnings At An FKA Twigs Concert

The first whispers of a connection between Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs emerged in the summer of 2014. However, the couple managed to keep their early interactions largely under wraps. According to a source on E! News, Pattinson, alongside his friends Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge, had attended Twigs’ concert. Miller and Sturridge went ahead as agents of Cupid to set the two up.

The couple began dating in September 2014. Pattinson and FKA Twigs were spotted together as a couple later that year while on a romantic vacation in Miami. They were also seen walking hand-in-hand in Venice, Italy. As the public sightings continued, the pair stood out for their unique fashion sense and distinctive personalities. However, public scrutiny arose, particularly from Pattinson’s fans, and FKA Twigs was subjected to racist hate comments. Unable to escape from the influx of harsh comments, she tweeted: “I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week.”

Despite this, the relationship continued to flourish. Twigs spoke to The Guardian about pushing on with Robert Pattinson regardless of the naysayers. “…it’s like, is this person in my life worth that? And he is, without question… in comparison to how happy I am,” she said. “And how I feel with him. It’s 100 percent worth it.”

Early 2015 rolled by and engagement rumors soon surfaced. The speculation remained a rumor until singer and rapper T-Pain mentioned in a Q&A session with Vulture that Twigs was now engaged and would hardly have time for a collaborative project. Although the singer tried to cover up his tracks by calling it an April Fool’s prank, People reported that Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs were officially engaged. The couple made their red-carpet debut at the 2015 Met Gala with Twigs sporting her engagement ring. The bow-shaped ring featured a 4-carat diamond and was worth approximately $150,000.

When the couple attended the 2016 Met Gala, the blinding engagement ring was nowhere to be seen on Twigs’ finger and the internet went wild. The rumor mill was working overtime, speculating that the engagement was off and the two had broken up. Sadly, the chatter seemed to hold some truth to them when In Touch Weekly reported that the engagement and wedding were indeed called off. However, the two stars neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, keeping fans on their toes.

Oct. 2017: The End

In October 2017, Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs officially ended their engagement and relationship. This marked the conclusion of the three-year-long relationship that had intrigued and perplexed the public for years. The reasons behind their split were not extensively divulged, with both parties choosing to maintain they barely had time to meet. While Robert Pattinson was focusing on a press tour, FKA Twigs was working on her album Magdalene. Their lives, once intertwined in the public imagination, gradually diverged as they navigated the challenges of healing.

2018-Present Day: New Loves

The former couple have barely been seen together since their break up in 2017. Robert Pattinson has gone on to secure the coveted role of Batman in the DC Extended Universe, solidifying his status as a versatile actor. He has also begun a new love story with actress and singer Suki Waterhouse. The two have been announced to be expecting their first child together. FKA Twigs, on the other hand, released her first mixtape, Caprisongs in 2022 to rave reviews. She is currently dating director and photographer Jordan Hemingway, whom she states has restored her faith in love.

FKA Twigs Has A New Boyfriend

British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs has been making headlines for months now following her highly publicized lawsuit against her ex partner, Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf. However, in a recent turn of events, the artist has announced that she is dating someone new. This person is the photographer and filmmaker Jordan Hemingway. On March 7th, FKA Twigs uploaded a photo to her Instagram to make an announcement. “The whole of my career I’ve been hunted down for who I am dating.” As a well-known artist, she has likely never been able to keep her dating life truly private for long.

And yet, she seems more than happy to dish with her fans about her new love interest. “His name is Jordan Hemingway, a beautiful artist whose heart has restored my faith in love.” The announcement was very sweet, and exciting. Her audience has been following along with her public lawsuit against LaBeouf since its start in late 2020. FKA Twigs drew a lot of concern for her wellbeing when the details of the alleged abuse first came out. Now that she is happy and in love, her fans could not be happier to see her moving on with her life.

FKA Twigs got massive support from her fans after her announcement. Many people have suffered from an intense relationship and could relate to her story. Her new outlook on life is inspiring many of those who have suffered similar relationship trauma. FKA first rose to fame in 2012 after releasing her debut EP, “EP1.” Since then, she has released a string of critically acclaimed music. Her artistic style is unique and drew the attention of other artists, such as Bjork. FKA is also known for activism on current pressing social matters in the world.

The singer’s lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf, which was filed in December 2020, has been closely followed by the media. The lawsuit sparks an important conversation around abuse and power dynamics within a relationship. FKA Twigs has been praised for her bravery in coming forward and using her platform to raise awareness about these issues. As for her new relationship with Hemingway, it remains to be seen how public the couple will be in the future. For now, fans will have to wait and see if the singer will share more details about her love interest.

FKA Twigs & Shia LaBeouf’s Trial Facing Delays Due To Hectic Work Schedules

Unfortunately for FKA Twigs, her love life has frequently become tabloid fodder over the years. She previously dated Twilight star Robert Pattinson. Their relationship, unfortunately, fell apart partially due to the racism she endured at the hands of the franchise’s fans. Aside from that, the time she spent romancing former child star Shia LaBeouf has also caught the public’s eye.

The pair first met in 2018 on the set of Honey Boy and found themselves falling for one another quickly. According to Femstella, the film’s creator “dramatically professed his love” just a week or two into dating. By October of that year, LaBeouf convinced Twigs to join him at his home in Los Angeles. This is when their union became abusive in nature.

Court documents allege that the Disney alumn would berate and verbally assault the English actress for hours at a time. He also reportedly trapped her in their bedroom for lengthy periods. At that time he was suffering from delusions that gang members would break into their home. LaBeouf apparently slept with a rifle by the couple’s bedside. He also forced Twigs to watch documentaries specifically focusing on murdered women.

By November 2018, the Caprisongs vocalist began her plan to escape, though in February 2019 she woke up to find her partner “violently squeezing her body and arms.” Around the same time, the 35-year-old was knowingly infected with an STD by the Holes actor, who admitted to being diagnosed a year earlier and attempting to hide his flare-ups from her. In the months after this, they finally went their separate ways, and by December 2020, Twigs filed a lawsuit.

The “killer” songstress is suing LaBeouf for sexual battery, battery assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and gross negligence. As Radar Online notes, their trial was due to begin on April 17th, though it’s now facing delays until much later this year. Most likely, we’ll see the former couple in court on November 1st or December 6th.

Lawyers for both parties provided an update to the court earlier this week. Twigs’ states that she lives out of the country and is currently “working on entertainment projects.” For her ex, the story is mostly the same as he’s been busy filming Francis Ford Coppola’s $100M epic, Megalopolis. The actor has been spotted in various feminine costumes as of late, including gold sky-high heels and sheer white dresses.

At this time, a judge has yet to sign off on the trial’s postponement, but because neither star has sat for a deposition, it’s likely the motion will be approved. While LaBeouf is hard at work on his potential industry comeback, Twigs is eagerly awaiting The Crow reboot, which finds her starring opposite Bill Skarsgård. Read all about the role she plays in that here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

It Turns Out FKA Twigs And Jorja Smith Are Cousins

FKA Twigs and Jorja Smith have both managed to rise to the top of their respective fields: Twigs is a highly respected indie/pop/R&B/genre-bending artist and Smith’s voice earned her a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2019. The two worked together on Twigs’ new mixtape Caprisongs, with Smith featuring on “Darjeeling.” Well, after making that song together, they both realized they’re actually cousins.

In a new GQ interview, Twigs said of Smith:

“I’d never met her before, and I jumped in her car with her… and I remember thinking to myself, ‘Gosh, that’s really strange: we’ve got exactly the same kind of skin.’ […] A few months later, I was on the road to go to LA and [Smith] left me a voice note saying, ‘You’re never going to believe this, but I’ve just spoken to my dad and he’s spoken to his sister and we’re related.’”

Meanwhile, Twigs has a lot going on right now. She recently launched her post-Caprisongs era with “Killer,” her first new song since the mixtape. She’s also expanding her acting profile, as it was reported last month she has landed a starring role in a reboot of The Crow.

FKA Twigs Debuts Her New Song ‘Killer’ In A Charismatic Tiny Desk Concert

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series is celebrating Black Music Month with showcases of Black artists both “at home” and at the titular Tiny Desk. The latest episode features genre-bending English singer-songwriter FKA Twig, performing in a mysterious-looking candlelit church, backed by strings and piano. In addition to singing two of her most beloved ballads, “Home With You” and “Cellophane,” as well as debuting a brand-new song, “Killer.”

FKA Twigs upped her game early this year with the release of her mixtape, Caprisongs. The tape, which featured the singles “Meta Angel,” “Jealousy,” “Bliss,” “Papi Bones,” “Honda,” and “Which Way,” highlighted her eclecticism and improved vocals, as well as featuring a spontaneity that hadn’t yet been heard from the convention-challenging Twigs. In her review, Uproxx’s Caitlin White writes, “… a more relaxed, linear style in the songwriting gives a deeper look into Twigs’ psyche than her past work.”

In addition to promoting her new tape, Twigs is expanding her resume, adding a brand-new acting role to her impressive list of achievements. In May, it was reported that Twigs had been cast in an upcoming remake of the 1994 gothic action movie The Crow — which is a perfect opportunity to showcase her martial arts and dance training.
