Dominic Fike Paid Tribute To Angus Cloud, His Late ‘Euphoria’ Co-Star, With An Emotional Speech On Stage

Last night (August 1), Dominic Fike put on a concert at 713 Music Hall in Houston. There was a significant fog over the performance, though: Angus Cloud, one of Fike’s co-stars on HBO’s Euphoria, recently died at 25 years old. During the performance, Fike took a couple minutes to speak about it (as Stereogum points out).

As he absentmindedly played guitar, Fike said to the audience:

“Um, so I guess I lost a friend of mine recently. He died the other night, which is wild to say because I’m not really… I don’t deal with grief often. I haven’t had a lot of death happen around me, and this was the first time I feel like I knew the person well enough to cry over and feel something, you know? It was weird.

I was on my way to get a massage, which sounds so f*cking stupid, at the time, and I got this call. And it f*cked me up, obviously. I still got the massage, I felt really stupid. He probably would’ve been like, ‘Yeah, go ahead,’ you know? Even this tonight, I was sitting in the green room, and it felt… You know when things just feel, like, trivial? Like, you feel really small, and the timeline gets sort of stretched out.

I sometimes look at people like sparks. I zoom out, and I think people have wavelengths. And if you zoom out far enough, you see some people, probably not a lot of us at all, but I think if you zoomed out millions of miles, you would see this kid’s spark, you know. You could see it from so far away, even if it was a short flash. He would light up a room, any room he walked in. He’s a f*cking good dude. And he would have been… I felt stupid, though, coming out here. Like, this is so stupid, go do a show, act happy. But he would’ve wanted me to do that. He would’ve been like, ‘No, just f*ckin’ do the show, have fun.’”

Cloud’s family announced his passing in a statement on Monday. They wrote: “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

The family added that they “hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”

An HBO spokesperson added in a statement to CNN: “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.” Check out pictures from Cloud’s night at MacArthur Maze’s release party here.

Angus Cloud Tributes Poured In From Across The Hip-Hop World, With Drake, Questlove, And More Offering Thoughts

In the wake of Angus Cloud’s death earlier this week, tributes to the late actor have poured in from across the hip-hop world. The actor, who was 25 and best-known for his role as Fez on Euphoria, was apparently beloved in the hip-hop community and counted a number of rappers among both his fans and friends. While luminaries like Drake and Questlove likely loved Cloud from afar as fans of his work, others, like 03 Greedo and Guapdad 4000, apparently shared closer connections.

Quest, for instance, shared his thoughts on Instagram, writing, “Fez was the spiritual center of Euphoria and definitely my fav character on the show. Love to his entire family and to those who knew him.” Drake simply shared a photo of the actor captioned “good soul.”

However, Bay Area natives like Guapdad 4000 and Mistah F.A.B. had more personal observations, sharing memories of their encounters with Angus. “It’s weird posting when my friends from oakland die..it happens so much i cant keep up,” wrote Guap. “its weirder posting when my ‘famous’ friends die . So this one is double weird . It’s hard to find someone from the same place doing what you do and being where u at. Bay Area Icon.”

F.A.B., meanwhile, remembered Cloud’s visits to his store Dope Era in Oakland, recalling that the actor would “come in and drop bands.” “I’m saddened to see the news of him passing because he was such a humble human,” he reflected. Another California rapper, 03 Greedo, remembered how Cloud would DM him to keep his spirits up while he was incarcerated in Texas on drug charges.

Angus Cloud’s Ex-Manager Details Actor’s Alleged Substance Abuse Struggles

Angus Cloud’s former talent manager, Diomi Cordero, detailed the tumultuous end of his professional relationship with the actor during a lengthy rant on Twitter, Friday. In the posts, Cordero revealed that he met the Euphoria star while working the “graveyard shift” as a “mental health technician” at a rehab clinic.

While developing their relationship, Cordeo says he helped Cloud “regain control of his personal and professional life.” However, there were apparently many friends in Cloud’s life who were a bad influence on his sobriety. “Their reckless behavior and lack of regard for Angus’ recovery served as a significant obstacle to his progress ultimately contributing to his relapse,” he wrote.

After Cloud began abusing substances again, Cordeo says that Euphoria creator Sam Levinson pleaded with the actor to “fight for his life.” Eventually, Cordero says that Cloud’s behavior towards him “became extremely abusive,” adding that he “had gone to the extent of degrading me publicly in front of his friends & even my colleagues.” Cordero says that he made the decision to resign after Cloud was invited to attend a Versace fashion show in Europe. Just days before the trip, Cloud contacted Cordero to inform him that he’d prefer if only his friends joined him abroad.

“As a result of my resignation, for over a year, I have been pursuing the collection of my outstanding management commissions from Angus, totaling over $60,000.00,” he concluded. “Despite repeated attempts to resolve this matter amicably, I have yet to receive any of the payments owed to me. In sharing my story, I hope to not only find solace & healing but to also inspire others who may be struggling to find their voice in an industry where most are silenced. I wanted to be a testament to the power of speaking up and owning one’s truth, even in the face of adversity.”

Angus Cloud From “Euphoria” Allegedly Involved In Hit-And-Run

Fans know Angus Cloud best from his role as Fezco on Euphoria. However, he is now on the radar of the California Highway Patrol. The actor allegedly participated in a hit-and-run. Police officers are looking to speak with Cloud regarding the incident from Tuesday. A witness told TMZ that it occurred in Marina del Rey. According to them, Cloud and another male were driving in the area in an SUV. Said SUV rear-ended a white Toyota RAV-4, then took off to a nearby parking lot.

At least one person involved in Cloud’s alleged hit-and-run suffered injuries due to the accident. Through photos and statements provided, it is easy to see that a female who was riding in the Toyota had injuries from the impact of the accident. The injuries extend to her arms and legs. Pictures of her arms show bruising and redness on her skin. According to the report, the same types of markings are on the woman’s legs, as well. Also according to TMZ, there was more than one person in the Toyota. However, they did not report the genders, numbers, and injuries of other passengers involved.

Angus Cloud Accused

The report states the witness knew the people who were in the Toyota. Apparently, once the chaos from the accident settled down, said witness went to look for Cloud and the SUV. The witness went to the parking lot where Cloud and the other person in the car had driven. However, upon further inspection of the area, the Euphoria star and his friend were nowhere to be seen or found. This is shocking, especially because a hit-and-run can be charged as a felony in the state of California. However, if the hit-and-run is charged as a misdemeanor, Cloud can still be charged with a possible sentence of up to six months in jail. He could also face a fine of up to $1,000.00.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that, while Cloud is not an official suspect in the case, police officials have mentioned the Euphoria star for possible involvement. Rightfully so, cops want to speak to him to determine if he was involved or even responsible for the car accident. If he was, the issue will be dealt with accordingly in a legal matter. Cloud’s team has yet to make a statement on the allegations and evidence of the hit-and-run.

Cardi B Is Awed By A Video Of Angus Cloud Bussing Tables To Her Music Before Being Cast On ‘Euphoria’

One of the things that makes Cardi B so relatable — which is what makes her such a big star — is that she’s quick to join in on culture conversations surrounding viral favorite TV shows like Euphoria and You. Last year, the “WAP” rapper forged an unlikely but delightful friendship with You star Penn Badgley, which found the two stars swapping profile pics and prompted fans to petition to get her on the show.

It seems she’s just as enamored with HBO breakout hit Euphoria, which she commented on when fans unearthed a video of one of the show’s stars, Angus Cloud, bussing tables to her song “Bartier Cardi” before being cast on the show. Cardi expressed her approval, praising him for going from serving food to serving fiends (in the show; Cloud plays a drug dealer named Fezco who has become a fan-favorite character). “Look at him now pushing weight,” she quipped. “You go Fez.”

Cardi’s celebrity circle seems to grow every time she comments on a show she’s watching — and even due to her own show, Cardi Tries. After being ordained to officiate a wedding on one episode of the show, a chance “missed connection” encounter with actor Kal Penn led to Cardi being enlisted to officiate Penn’s own upcoming nuptials. Meanwhile, Cloud’s clout is beginning to grow as well; he recently made a cameo in Juice WRLD’s “Cigarettes” video, and is currently filming two feature films.

‘Euphoria’s’ Angus Cloud Makes A Cameo In The Powerful Video For Juice WRLD’s ‘Cigarettes’

Last month marked the official posthumous release of Juice WRLD’s track “Cigarettes.” A song that had seen a slew of bootleg releases when the Chicago rapper was still alive, it sees him meditating on addiction and how it can affect relationships. The initial visualizer came out last month with an anime aesthetic. But the official video dropped today, featuring a cameo from Angus Cloud of Euphoria. It’s really more of a short film that takes a powerful look at how alcohol can destroy someone’s life and how the temptation will always be there.

In the video, a young guy’s life is falling apart because of alcoholism. He has trouble staying sober at work, he stays out late at the bar instead of going home to his girlfriend, and he’s just spiraling out of control. His life effectively falls apart and he enters a treatment program. We get a flash forward to 999 days later and he’s riding in a convertible with three friends, the main one played by Cloud. They enjoy the breeze while cruising and then go to a club, before the story climaxes and the main character faces a decision based on what he’s been through over the past few years. Directed by Steve Cannon, it’s a very realistic story about addiction and recovery that, considering Juice WRLD died of a drug overdose, hits even harder set to his music.
