Bow Wow’s Lean Addiction Led To Issues In Career & Personal Life: “DRUG-FREE IS THE WAY TO BE”

Bow Wow has been in the spotlight since childhood, and like many of his contemporaries, the recording artist faced serious turmoil in early adulthood, perhaps as a result of all the pressure he was under from a young age. In a new sitdown with The Art of Dialogue, Shad Moss speaks candidly about how sipping lean led to extra drama in his personal life, not to mention the L’s he took in his career as a result. “I was sipping so much syrup, I said this after Mac Miller died. I spoke on this s**t, I was drinking that s**t [all the time],” he recalled.

“If you go back and watch The Road to Platinum series on BET, you’ll see so many white Styrofoam cups. I was losing my f**king mind. That lean s**t had me f**ked up. I was just always irritated,” Bow Wow vented to the outlet. Things became so bad, as HipHopDX reports, that Lil Wayne once gave the Like Mike star a “baby bottle” full of lean to soothe him. As he was heading out on tour with Chris Brown in 2007, things for the 36-year-old became particularly dangerous, leading to a much-needed wake-up call.

Bow Wow Recalls Dropping Out of Chris Brown Tour in 2007

“The opening night was in Cincinnati and when I got off stage, I collapsed. I went straight to Cincinnati University Hospital. My stomach was so f**ked up I ended up going back home to Atlanta after the first show,” Bow Wow looked back on the scary moment. “I’m sitting in the hospital not knowing what the f**k going on, and I get back home and the s**t gets worse. I’m throwing up, I’m shivering in the bed, I’m sweating, I’m going through it. I didn’t know I was having withdrawals. That’s how much lean I was consuming.” Moss made sure to thank his former publicist, Pattie Webster, for protecting his image by telling the world that her client dropped out of the joint tour with Breezy to recover from dehydration.

“That’s just good PR. We didn’t want the world to know that 18, 19-year-old Bow was heavy on the drank,” he said before urging anyone watching to consider giving up their drug habits. The impact that lean and other substances have far beyond the music industry is disappointing to see, but as people continue to share their negative experiences with using, it becomes easier for others to resist walking the same path. Just a few months ago, Lucki and Lil Yachty discussed their expensive lean addictions on the latter’s podcast, even claiming that Young Thug once had to pay $5K in “tax” from dealers to get his supply. Nicki Minaj Rehab Comments Upset Queen Of Rap

Being known as the Queen of Rap means Nicki Minaj has countless loyal subjects (known as The Barbz) who worship her every move. Of course, with so much fame, fortune, and power also come haters who are dead-set on ruining your reputation — something the Trinidadian is all too familiar with. Lately, it’s allegations of substance abuse and needing to attend rehab that are upsetting Minaj, who lashed out at a TikTok user reporting on the gossip. According to the content creator, a recent Blind Item on gossip website CrazyDaysAndNights about someone’s struggles with drugs is about Minaj, and the “Barbie Dreams” hitmaker is growing weary.

”Speaking of horrible people, this foreign-born former A+ list rapper definitely needs rehab before she tries to do a tour. It will be awful,” the anonymous clue reads. After @CelebriTEAblinds made a video suggesting Minaj is the artist in question, all hell broke loose in her DMs. “Once ugly disease allegedly is being paid to get uglier,” is what the black-haired beauty wrote.

Nicki Minaj Gets Some Things Off Her Chest

Later, Minaj headed to the comment section on the defamatory video to get more off her chest, as HipHopDX notes. “Allegedly they are sucking someone’s d**k & being paid to try and tear down a tour. SOLD OUT, SOLD OUT, SOLD OUT. Allegedly you have a disease?” she further clapped back. It seems the femcee wants to remind us how powerful words can be, even if only “alleged” with her emotionally loaded online messages.

As her Pink Friday 2 album continues to rack up streaming numbers, Nicki Minaj is obviously finding plenty of time to put her haters on blast. The mother of one recently addresses fake fan pages popping up on social media, seemingly suggesting that the CIA could be behind them. Lil Pump To Joe Budden: “[You’re] Worthless; Go Hit A Man, Not A [Woman]”

Lil Pump’s name never seems to be far from controversy. Currently, the 23-year-old is making waves in hip-hop news thanks to his comments about Joe Budden. The also-controversial podcaster’s name was mentioned in Pump’s Instagram Story on Tuesday (January 23), along with allegations of beating women and struggling with substance abuse. The receipts the young star brought to the table include a screenshot of Budden’s mugshot, as well as one of a Variety article from 2021 when content creator Olivia Dope accused him of sexual harassment.

“F**k Joe Budden, 43-year-old drug addict [woman beater],” he wrote earlier this morning with several typos. “[You’re] worthless,” Pump publicly told Budden, though he didn’t actually tag the New York native. “Go hit a man, not a [woman],” the former suggested before leaving a row of “😂😂😂😂😂” emojis above Budden’s solemn-looking police photo from nearly a decade ago. “It’s never okay to hit women, [you’re] a piece of s**t,” the “I Love It” hitmaker ended his rant. Now that the drama is making rounds on blogs, users are curious about what caused Pump to lash out so intensely.

“Lil Pump is an ardent [Donald] Trump supporter. I wonder why he hasn’t called Trump out over the sexual assault claims from E. Jean Carroll❓🤔 Selective outrage,” one person pointed out under @theneighborhoodtalk’s post. “He wants some attention from Joe on the podcast clearly…because where is this coming from?” another pondered. Elsewhere, someone else injected humour into the situation, writing, “Y’all don’t spell check before you hit post? Every day I scream reading these 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.”

Lil Pump’s wrath isn’t the only thing Joe Budden’s been faced with online this month. Just a few days ago, Ari Lennox let her followers know that she’s considering taking legal action against the rapper-turned-podcaster while dropping off some explosive allegations. NBA YoungBoy’s Friend Seemingly Disses Gillie & Wallo, Claims Only Bootleg Kev Interview Was “Approved”

Earlier this week, Bootleg Kev dropped his interview with NBA YoungBoy, which saw the 24-year-old rapper dissect his public image atop “Gravedigger Mountain.” YB shared the interview on YouTube alongside a message thanking Kev, writing, “I don’t want to be seen high and messed up.” This prompted some speculation among fans, who thought he could have been suggesting he was under the influence in other recent interviews, and didn’t want them to come out.

Now, a post from one of YB’s associates has only compounded this speculation. Herm Tha BlackSheep took to his Instagram Story yesterday to comment on the Bootleg Kev interview, claiming that it was the “only interview” YB “approved to drop.” Many commenters perceived this as shade towards Gillie Da Kid and Wallo267, who just chatted with the Baton Rouge native on their Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast.

Herm Tha BlackSheep On NBA YoungBoy Interviews

“A lot of people like to have gangster energy with him,” Herm Tha BlackSheep wrote. “Instead of the people who actually killed they seed sh*t cr*azy. But ok.” Countless fans are chiming in, with many claiming that if YB didn’t want his Million Dollaz Worth Of Game interview to be released, he shouldn’t have done it in the first place. While it’s possible that YB didn’t want the interview to drop, it did have some standout moments. For one, YB told Gillie and Wallo that he feels as though he hasn’t been given a “fair shot.” According to him, he hasn’t ever been viewed as anything other than “uncivilized.”

He also hit the two hosts with a deep question of his own. He asked them what makes them happy, prompting some compelling responses. What do you think of Herm Tha BlackSheep’s comments on NBA YoungBoy’s recent interviews? Do you think his post was a jab at Gillie and Wallo? Vic Mensa Says Using Drugs For Creativity Nearly Led Him To Suicide

Vic Mensa opened up about his history with drug use during a new cover story for Spin Magazine published on Monday. In the piece, he reflects on how he began using mushrooms as a teen, but things became much worse over the years as he went on to use drugs as a “creative crutch.” Eventually, he says that it made him suicidal.

“The first drug I really felt dependent on was mushrooms,” Vic Mensa admitted to the outlet. “I started doing them abusively. Probably 100 times a year when I was like 19. But it wasn’t soul-searching. I started to lean on it as a creative crutch, and eventually it just stopped working and I started having bad trips — I would feel like my throat was closing and I was dying.”

He continued: “In the pursuit of boosted creativity I started doing a lot of molly and ecstasy. I was going to the bathroom in the middle of a studio session and railing molly with the powder falling on the ground. And I’m rolling up a dollar bill, on my hands and knees railing it off the bathroom floor — definitely with piss mixed up in it. That stopped working, and just tanked my serotonin.”

From there, Mensa explained that he started using Adderall when he would crash on molly. “When the molly crashed, I was so depressed and started snorting Adderall,” he added. “Then that stopped working. I would use each drug to the max until it stopped working. And then I was feeling like I couldn’t create, because I needed these drugs but the drugs weren’t working. And so I was hellbent on killing myself. I was on a full warpath of suicide.”

Mensa explained that he was able to figure things out after an enlightening ayahuasca ceremony in San Diego. “When I did that first ayahuasca ceremony, my question for the medicine was: ‘Why do I feel so much pain?’” he revealed. “And I had a vision of seeing my mother’s blonde hair from my 5-year-old eyes. A higher voice came to me and said, ‘I used to want blue eyes. That is the root of my pain.’ I thought that was so revealing. It’s the first place I can really pinpoint it to within this lifetime: a sense of unworthiness because of not looking like my parents.”

Macklemore Reflects On Addiction, Says It Is “Like An Allergy

Macklemore discussed his past struggles with substance abuse and getting sober during a new interview on the health podcast, On Purpose with Jay Shetty. The Grammy-winning rapper revealed that his addiction began when he was just 14 years old. When he had his first shot of alcohol at the time, it quickly became 12 shots within a span of 30 minutes.

“The easiest way for me to describe it is that it was like an allergy,” Macklemore, told host Jay Shetty. “It was once I had a sip or a hit or a sniff or whatever it was, I wanted more and I couldn’t turn that off. And I never could.” From there, he admitted that he didn’t understand the root of his problems until he met “a community of men in recovery,” in particular, those who had experienced “sexual trauma.”

“I had been lucky enough that I had already been to rehab,” he said. “I had already understood that this is the disease of addiction. This is an incurable disease.” He continued, “This is something that I don’t graduate from. This is something that I don’t go into remission — like this will be with me forever. And as a daily reprieve and a daily practice, what am I doing for my recovery?”

Later, Macklemore credited his wife, Tricia Davis, with helping him throughout his recovery. The two married back in 2015 and share three children: Colette Koala, 4, Sloane Ava Simone, 7, and Hugo Jack, who is 17 months.

As of now, Macklemore says he’s two years sober. “There’s so much work to be done. I’ve been in and out of the rooms of recovery for 14 years now, and I relapsed at the beginning of Covid,” he admitted. “So I have a couple years, but I still feel like a newcomer. I still feel like this is brand new and I’m just on the precipice of figuring out something that’s gonna open a new door.”
