Drake Addresses His Kendrick Lamar Beef In A New Freestyle Produced By Conductor Williams

2024 was a rough year for Drake, but now, he’s got a fresh calendar to look forward to. Before he does, though, it seems he’s got some things to get off his chest.

For the first time since he and Kendrick Lamar laced up their gloves last spring for a rap bout that left him punch-drunk and wobbling badly, Drake finds his footing with a new freestyle over a beat by Conductor Williams. Relying on his signature vulnerability to address the battle — and the response to it — through rhymes, Drake expresses his disappointment with how things turned out and how rap fans turned on him.

The video appeared on social media courtesy of a post seemingly teasing a new music video, but the lyrics can be heard loud clear despite the blurry nature of the visuals.

Whether it’ll be enough to right the ship after a string of lackluster singles and poor business decisions remains to be seen — but it’s the step in the right direction he should have taken before filing legal complaints about how badly he was beaten in the public eye.

Certainly, there are those — both fans and detractors — who’d prefer it if Drake just stuck to rap, and employing producers who are known for being in tune with the culture like Conductor (who is best known for his work with Griselda, Tyler The Creator, and J. Cole) could be just what he needs to get them back on his side. You can check out the freestyle below.

Drake Dismisses His Rap Beefs & Shouts Out 21 Savage In New Song Snippet

Drake just dropped off a new freestyle that has many fans thinking he’s addressing the rap beef, but it’s not the only new bit of his music that seems to reflect on the battle with Kendrick Lamar and many others. Moreover, hours before this Conductor Williams-produced verse emerged, three different song snippets from Drizzy surfaced online, all of which are hard to come by at press time due to copyright takedowns on social media. Still, fans reportedly caught some bars on one of them that fit in with other conversations that hip-hop fans are having these days, including a 21 Savage shoutout and moving past the fiery feuds of 2024.

Savage, you the only n***a checking on me when we in some s**t, brother,” Drake raps about 21 Savage on the cut, adding some other bars seemingly related to last year’s bout. “F**k a rap beef I’m tryna get the party lit / Thousand n***as rapping murder s**t and like ten n***as that will really do it.” The other snippets aren’t as confrontational or combative, but they did excite the OVO fanbase that can’t wait for more amazing music.

Drake Addresses Rap Beef In New Snippet

Of course, the main release on the horizon is Drake’s collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, whose presumed R&B sensibilities might not be the best background for beef bars. Still, with so much music coming out in one way or another at the start of 2025, we can probably expect a wide variety of tracks from The Boy that display his artistry. It’s anyone’s guess, but we’re sure that fans will dig deep for any allusions to Kendrick Lamar or other rivalries that the battle brought about. Are they reaches or reads? We’ll see in due time…

Meanwhile, speaking of 21 Savage, rumors emerged that he also subliminally dissed Kendrick Lamar on his feature on Lil Baby’s new album WHAM – specifically, on the song “Outfit.” Drake fans and the hip-hop world as a whole are very curious about what could follow this, or if this is fair to speculate about in the first place. One thing’s for sure, though: we’re eating early this year.

Romeo Don’t Die Shines Like Adam Sandler In New Single “Uncut Gem”

Canada has remained a hidden gem for unsung talent throughout the years, even when the biggest streamers. Ottawa’s Romeo Don’t Die has been a personal favorite for the past few years, though he hasn’t been as consistent as I’d hoped. Last year, he dropped off a handful of records, including his stellar “No Sleep Freestyle” and “Take Out.” Fortunately, he ended the drought just as 2024 came to an end with the release of his latest record, “Uncut Gem.”

Produced by Doomin, Romeo delivers a knockout track filled with motivational undertones, making “Uncut Gem” feel like an audible vision board that would be a perfect addition to your 2025 playlist. The warm string samples create a smooth, kinetic undercurrent that he weaves through with ease, flexing his lyrical prowess as a statement of his looming return with clever shout-outs to Ludacris and ScHoolboy Q, and a laundry list of flexes and ambitions for the new year. “Uncut Gem” dictates the tempo of his impending takeover this year, and it’s an exceptional offering that solidifies his role as a powerhouse in the Canadian landscape.

Romeo Don’t Die Ushers In A New Era With House Of Ensemble

“Uncut Gem” also marks his first release through House Of Ensemble, a record label and collective founded by Ottawa’s City Fidelia. The two have formed a solid relationship over the years, but the latest release signals an even bigger year ahead for Romeo. “It’s my time to show and prove, time to grind, and even though I’m still getting it out the mud, I’m an undiscovered stone, a diamond in the rough, an ‘Uncut Gem.’ Success is around the corner. Let’s get it,” Romeo Don’t Die said in a statement.

We’re extremely excited to see what he has up his sleeve in 2025. If “Uncut Gem” is an indication, he’ll certainly be the one to watch for in the coming months. Check out his new single above, along with its Adam Sandler-inspired visuals directed by Serge. Are you feeling Romeo Don’t Die’s new single? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Bad Bunny Teases ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ With A Touching Short Film And The Album’s Full Tracklist

There is no denying Bad Bunny is a global superstar. While the “Una Velita” rapper’s musicality can be extracted from his home country for everyone to enjoy around the world, Bad Bunny wants it to be known that the culture of Puerto Rico is not for commodification. In fact, it needs to be preserved.

Today (January 3), Bad Bunny revealed the tracklist for his upcoming Debí Tirar Más Fotos due out on Sunday, January 5. Additionally, he dropped a touching short film (named after the project), which stars Puerto Rican filmmaker, poet Jacobo Morales, and Kenneth Canales (as the animated frog Concho).

A note listed on the tracklist graphic explicitly stated who is intended for. “This project is dedicated to all Puerto Ricans throughout the world,” read the quote after a rough translation.

The short film drive that home as Morales reflects on his life on the island before gentrification. Then viewers watch as his home becomes a place where natives are often forgotten and considered to be second class citizens.

Drake Drops New Freestyle Over Conductor Williams Beat To Kick Off His 2025

Following some new music teases, Drake is back with a new freestyle over a Conductor Williams beat (seemingly titled “Fighting Irish”), which appeared on a since-deleted music video from the producer. Fans expressed absolute joy over it, as it’s a mellow, confident, but sharp collection of introspective bars, engaging rhyme schemes, and evocative reflections from the 6ix God. Of course, you can match a lot of his lyrical content to some of the rap beef-related headlines of the past year or so, but you can honestly say that about a lot of his lyrical material across his career. As such, rather than reaching for any allusions or subliminals, we just want to enjoy this verse performance and hear out Drizzy’s mind state and current thoughts.

It’s unclear when they recorded this freestyle or if it will see an official release, but either way, Drake die-hards couldn’t be happier with the results. Maybe this indicates a direction for some future singles or projects, as we know that his upcoming collab album with PARTYNEXTDOOR probably won’t follow this hip-hop sound. Regardless of what style you prefer from the Toronto superstar, the OVO fanbase will probably get plenty of exciting treats in 2025.

Drake’s New Freestyle

What’s more is that we might get an expansion of the overall OVO family thanks to new teased collabs with some of its most recent exports. For example, Smiley recently said that a Drake collab is “coming” very soon, which should energize listeners who have waited for another link-up since 2021. With that PND collab in mind as well, it’s very exciting to think about more releases from up north making big moments. We’ll see how they pan out and what else could arrive, especially with so much speculation, anticipation, and differing takes on a sonic direction to wade through.

Meanwhile, Drake continues to seemingly chime into some of hip-hop culture’s big fights and debates, many of which can connect in one way or another to his Kendrick Lamar battle. For an unrelated example, though, look no further than his alleged cosign of Cam’ron and Mase in their spat with Elliott Wilson, whom The Boy has allegedly had issues with in the past. It’s mostly speculative and innocuous, but nonetheless interesting amid these new musical offerings.

Elliott Wilson Has Shocking Response To Cam’ron & Mase After Initially Questioning Their Credentials

Esteemed hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson has been getting into it online with Cam’ron and Mase over the past couple of days. However, he’s drastically changed his tune today after calling them out in a shocking and scathing rant. It all began with the Rap Radar founder questioning both rappers’ journalistic credentials on the Rory and MAL Podcast earlier this week. “Everybody’s media… Cam’ron running around like he’s Stephen A. Smith,” he began. “‘Why is he a sports journalist? Because he has an opinion?’” Elliott inquired to the hosts. His verbal attack continued by adding how people like Killa Cam and Mase are entering the business “off celebrity alone.”

“I don’t like that s***… It’s reality. I don’t like it.” Elliott then went on to add that he feels he’s much better at the job then they are. “I know I’m better at it. It’s me. It’s my life.” This of course went viral quite quickly and eventually made into the territory of It Is What Is and their Instagram page. They then proceeded to unleash a social media avalanche of disses and memes Elliott Wilson’s way. “WE JUST CHILLING MINDING OUR BUSINESS SIPPING 🍾 & HERE COME THIS “CUBAN GOODING JR” LOOKING MUTHAFU*KA WITH HIS SALTY HATING AZZ, HEY YO @elliottwilson YOU WASHED & NOBODY IS CHECKING FOR YOU, #WETHENEWSOURCE GET USE TO IT 🤡 YOU A BONA FIED HATER,” one post said.

Elliott Wilson Changes His Tune On Cam’ron & Mase

Wilson then got into the IG Story comments in which he tried to surrender in what felt like a half-serious manner. However, Cam’ron and Mase didn’t take the bait. “HEY YALL NOW HE WANT TO WAVE THE WHITE FLAG 🏳 NAH 🥷🏽 @elliottwilson IT’s OVER WHEN WE SAY IT’s OVER & WE BEEN WINNING & ALREADY WON, WE DON’t NEED YOU TELLING US 💩 NOW YOU WANT TO REPOST OUR CONTENT FOH.”

But it seems like Elliott actually meant that because he’s issued a formal apology (sort of). In The Need To Know Podcast clip, he mentions how none of the previous comments he issued were pre-meditated and that they just came out. In the time since, he’s come to respect that Cam and Mase have put in a lot of work themselves to make this a successful project. Elliott felt like he let Treasure Wilson, one of the co-hosts of It Is What Is down to some degree due to them having a rapport and her being new to the scene of journalism. He feels bad that he came across as the “older person not comfortable with somebody else’s success.” Despite it being a decent response, you know Cam and Mase will most likely have something to say.

Lil Baby Set To Release Deluxe For “Wham” A Lot Sooner Than You Think

Lil Baby is attempting to set the tone for hip-hop in 2025 by coming out swinging with tons of new music. Today, the Georgia hitmaker left off his new studio album WHAM (Who Hard As Me) with features from Young Thug, Future, Travis Scott, 21 Savage and more. It’s his first solo record since 2022’s It’s Only Me, which didn’t get the love that previous Baby tapes have gotten. Since then, fans and haters alike have been letting him hear it online. The pressure has been looming over him for sure and right now, it’s not looking too hot. Most of the reception on social media has been negative, with a smaller number of folks showing it love.

Most of the people feel that the features performed better instead of Lil Baby. Obviously, that’s not a good look, and you have to wonder what he can do going forward to alleviate that. Well, in the rapper’s eyes, he’ going to supplement the existing 15-song tracklist with more cuts. For those who are messing with the record, they won’t have to wait long for him to deliver. One fan in this Instagram post from Baby below is so pleased with the project that he had to ask this burning question.

“Deluxe when ?? 😂 damn album so good I think we need deluxe already @lilbaby,” the zealous fan wrote. Lil Baby would wind up replying, surely making this person’s dream come true. “Deluxe Tuesday,” he replied. This is the second time today that he’s confirmed this, doing so earlier in an Instagram Story exchange with Young Thug. “Chill bra the deluxe coming Tuesday it’s on thereeeee,” he said in regard to speculation surrounding a second collab for WHAM.

However, this is not sparking too much excitement for some. “Same week deluxe s*** for the sales push is embarrassing,” one X user pens. “Ngl he can keep it,” another echoes. Outside of this potential Thug track, there really isn’t any word on how many will find their way onto it. Lil Baby did release several singles ahead of the LP, including “Touchdown,” “5AM,” “Crazy,” and more, so there’s a chance some of those make the cut.

BigXthaPlug Fights Heckling Fan At His Show With Support From His Security

BigXthaPlug sold out his ongoing “Take Care” tour, but despite that success, it seems like some people learned the hard way that if you pay for a ticket, you have to be respectful. Moreover, according to footage reportedly obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, Big X and his crew fought a heckler at his Seattle concert on December 8, having to hop offstage to confront a man who was being a nuisance during the show after the fan threw water in X’s direction. You can check out video footage of this incident from these multiple alleged sources by clicking on the “Via” link down below.

However, this is kind of ironic considering that BigXthaPlug recently kicked out two folks fighting at one of his tour concerts. As such, one would assume that he has no tolerance for escalations and scuffles in a live setting, but things clearly change when you’re facing disrespect, intrusion, and distraction as a main performer. It seems like the “Take Care” tour was an overall very successful one, though, so we hope that these moments were few and far between. It seems like they were all able to clear up nicely and swiftly, so that’s a plus.

With this closer to 2024 in mind, fans wonder what 2025 will hold for BigXthaPlug following a highly successful year that broke him out into a more mainstream audience. It seems like his artistic vision stays committed to his Texas roots and to his hard-hitting trunk-knockers, but who knows what sounds and aesthetics he could play with this year? The Dallas native has a pretty distinct style that others from the Lone Star State continue to champion, and even hecklers can’t stop their rise and their resonance.

Furthermore, we can only expect more great things from the “Therapy Session” spitter in the 12 months to come, whether that’s just a slew of singles or yet another project to feed fans. No matter what BigXthaPlug chooses, it seems like he will have to be that much more careful at his future live shows, whether it’s because his fans want to fight themselves or confront him personally. That’s not an advisable move anymore…

Hurricane Wisdom Grabs Polo G For Remix Of His Hit Single “Giannis”

The Florida rap scene has been burgeoning over the last few years. Its underground scene has especially been thriving with names like BLP KOSHER, Loe Shimmy, and Luh Tyler being a few to breakout recently. But mainstream artists are also coming into focus with BossMan Dlow leading the way in that respect. But the former looks to be gaining another bubbling talent heading into the remainder of 2025. His name is Hurricane Wisdom and he’s been professionally rapping since 2020.

However, it wasn’t until late last year that he saw exponential growth in his fan base. His August project Eye of the Storm has a few tracks gaining traction and “Giannis” is leading the way. It’s smooth, melodic, and skittering Florida hip-hop production is backed by Hurricane’s crooning delivery making for a real vibe. The song has picked up over 3.8 million streams in five months so this could be the track that puts him on the map. With that said, it was wise of him to create a remix for it and bring on a mainstream name in the process. He’s decided to select Polo G for that and the two display a nice synergy. See if this one surpasses the original by clicking the link below.
