During a recent interview with Angie Martinez, Tems opened up about her stay at a Ugandan prison. The Nigerian hitmaker was arrested back in 2020 for putting on a performance despite COVID-19 social distancing regulations. According to her, she was under the impression that the organizer had obtained the permits necessary for the show to go on. She says that the arrest “was a setup.”
Tems recalled finishing up her show, and heading back to her hotel to have a meal with her manager. It was then that she heard a knock on her door, soon realizing that it was Ugandan authorities. Her manager went with them, and eventually, they circled back to pick her up. She was then taken to prison alongside another Nigerian artist, Omah Lay, where she spent two nights. “That was so scary,” she explained. “I spent two nights in prison. I thought I wasn’t gonna come out.”

She went on, detailing the emotions she experienced while behind bars. “It made me stop caring about so many things,” she described. “All the women in there, they were there for nothing.” Tems says that during her stay, she felt moved to help the other women there, who were locked up for petty crimes. “You’re just on the floor, no bed,” she revealed. “I didn’t even know I was going to get out, I didn’t have any ears on the ground nobody told me anything. Outside people were like ‘free Tems, free Omah Lay’ but inside I was just hopeful, waiting. There’s no calls, you can’t make a phone call.”
Eventually, Tems’ team met with the president of Uganda, and she was later released. She claims that the prison stay changed her, giving her a new perspective after living under such poor conditions. “After that incident, things just started moving,” she says. Especially the way they’re talking about it right now. These were things we were trying to stay far away from. A few months ago, Warren G sat down on an episode of Drink Champs to discuss a variety of topics. Included among them was 2pac, who Warren claims to have been a silent ally of. During the interview, he claims that he was attempting to bail the rapper out of jail in 1995 but was beat to the punch by someone else. Initially, nobody questioned his narrative. But when Suge Knight recently started his new podcast it was one of the first things he tackled.
“Warren G, best stop lying — you didn’t f*ck with ’Pac and ’Pac didn’t f*ck with you. On top of that, you couldn’t take care of yourself, how were you gonna get ’Pac out of prison? Everybody, all of a sudden, they want to get ’Pac out of prison,” Suge explained. The clip began the make the rounds online and it’s no surprise that eventually Warren himself heard it. Perry began his acting journey by enrolling at the Buckley School, a college-preparatory institution in Sherman Oaks. Graduating in 1987, he initially took on small roles, starting with television and later transitioning into film. Perry recounted a period in his life when he had reached a staggering low of 128 pounds and was consuming over 50 Vicodin pills daily. His battle with addiction led to severe health complications, including pancreatitis, which necessitated hospitalization. The extensive ordeal he faced with alcohol addiction and substance abuse has been the subject of his candid discussions in previous interviews and his book, Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing.
His struggle with alcohol and pharmaceuticals prompted him to seek rehabilitation more than a dozen times and endure a minimum of 14 surgeries, significantly impacting his acting career. By the time the 10th season of Friends rolled around, for example, his addiction became a detrimental issue, prompting the network to address him about it. He acknowledged initially having some control over it, but this wasn’t entirely true, as it continued to influence his life.
Matthew Perry founded the Perry House in Malibu, a sober-living residence for men in recovery, which operated for two years before his passing. Additionally, Perry contributed to charitable causes, such as donating proceeds from a Friends-inspired clothing line to the WHO’s COVID-19 relief fund.

On October 28, 2023, Matthew Perry tragically passed away at the age of 54, his death surrounded by mystery. He was found unconscious in his hot tub, and authorities attributed his death to drowning. However, the exact sequence of events remained unclear during the investigation, and no illegal substances were found at the scene. This left the cause of his passing in question.
After the actor’s death, his colleagues from both Friends and NBC’s sitcom programming came together to release a unified statement. They expressed their profound grief over the loss of Matthew. The cast regarded him as part of their family. They extended their heartfelt well-wishes to his family, fans, and loved ones. In their statement, they said: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.” They went on to say, “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
Most people will always remember him for his role as Chandler Bing from Friends. But in an interview, he once said that he hoped to be recognized for his work supporting those who were addicted, rather than his career as an actor in the sitcom. Altogether, Perry’s life served as an example of the human spirit’s ability to succeed and persevere in the face of difficulty. His legacy will endure well beyond the character of Chandler Bing, thanks to his influence on the entertainment industry and his commitment to helping people overcome addiction.
Suge Knight ruffled a lot of industry feathers on his Collect Calls podcast when he accused Akon of assaulting a 13-year-old girl. Moreover, according to the Death Row boss, his producer Detail also assaulted the alleged victim’s 12-year-old sister, and these are overall horrifying claims. The 50-year-old, however, denied all of these outright, and it now looks like this will be a much more contentious case moving forward. Furthermore, in a new statement to Complex, he revealed plans to sue the music executive for defamation. As of writing this article, he hasn’t responded to this lawsuit, although we’re sure that it won’t be the prettiest situation either way.
“I need to make it very clear that I absolutely deny these outrageous false and disgusting claims Suge Knight made on his podcast about me,” Akon shared. “I never called, received [a call], or had any contact with Suge Knight since he [went to prison]. My voice you heard on his podcast was a soundbite previously recorded from an interview I did with DJ Vlad 3 years ago regarding Suge Knight in 2009. I’ve never been a guest on Suge Knight’s podcast.
“I always believe in building positivity into the world and my actions and legacy have spoken to that,” Akon continued. “It’s unfortunate that I have to defend myself from these lies and I will be involving my legal team in filing a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Knight, my prayers for him will still continue.” Previously, this is what the Senegalese-American artist had to say about these allegations on Twitter. “The world knows a lie when they hear it,” he shared. “It’s unfortunate that this man is going out like this. It’s sad and seriously embarrassing. Regardless of our history, I’m still going to be praying for him.”
Meanwhile, these accusations unfortunately don’t have the best context. After all, the “Smack That” hitmaker recently flexed about having multiple wives, and involved himself in his fair share of other controversies. To everyone it’s like, ‘Oh, you broke up a year ago,’ and that meant it’s like a light switch, you turn it on and off and everything goes dead and black and you don’t ever speak to anyone ever again. However, Nicole also clarified that there’s no bad blood between her or anyone involved in the unfollowing. For more than two years now, NBA Youngboy has been under house arrest in Utah. His situation spawns from a 2020 arrest for firearm and narcotics possession. After a further arrest in Los Angeles where he was found with another firearm, the courts came down hard. From his bail proceedings to his eventual sentencing to house arrest, he hasn’t been afforded much leniency. Consequently, as his sentence is being increasingly discussed publicly by fans, he’s looking for a way to loosen the terms.
According to All Hip Hop in a new statement made by his lawyers, Youngboy explains why he’d like his house arrest terms altered. “Being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight and sleep. [NBA YoungBoy] has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation,” the lawyer’s statement reads. It’s unclear if it will work as government prosecutors have expressed skepticism in what counts as “employment obligations.” A judge is expected to eventually rule on the request. Youngboy has had fans worried about his mental health on multiple occasions this year. Just last week he posted a somewhat unhinged rant aimed at YouTube for allegedly blackballing him. Subsequently as the video made the rounds online fans expressed concern for the rapper’s wellbeing.
Youngboy has been using his time under house arrest to release a lot of new music. Last week he announced his 4th new album of 2023.
