YG Brings The Heat (With A Literal Flamethrower) In His Party-Ready ‘Knocka’ Video

After his solid collaborative release with fellow Compton rapper Tyga, YG returns to his solo grind with a raucous new single, “Knocka.” Tapping into a similar turnt-up vein as prior releases like “Left, Right,” and “BPT,” “Knocka” opens with one of YG’s signature banda samples but quickly turns into a hard-hitting street banger.

The track constitutes YG’s first solo output since 2022’s I Got Issues, which featured the fan-favorite single “Scared Money” with J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo.

In 2023, YG teamed up with Tyga to release Hit Me When U Leave The Klub, a breezy-but-effective joint album that spawned the upbeat party single “West Coast Weekend” with Blxst and the Str8 To The Club tour with Saweetie.

Speaking of Saweetie, the Bay Area rapper figured heavily into YG’s ubiquity in 2023 when they seemingly confirmed their relationship last spring. However, their low-key stance made them the subject of fan speculation, with some wondering whether they’d broken up as recently as this January — rumors they seemingly refuted at Rolling Loud California this year when Saweetie joined YG and Tyga onstage for some PDA.

The possibility that YG might have a new solo album on the way has already excited his fans on Twitter, who seem very ready for him to make his comeback — even though he never really left.

Saweetie & YG Are Boo’d Up On Night Out Amid Chris Brown & Quavo Drama

Despite Chris Brown and Quavo dragging her name through the mud in their response diss tracks to each other, Saweetie and her partner YG are seemingly partying through it all. Moreover, they recently went on a club outing for one of Power 106‘s anniversary parties on Thursday night (April 25). While it’s obviously impossible to assume their attitudes, mental spaces, and moods with just one clip, it seems like they were at least relaxed and just happy to be there. Whether or not they’re actually worrying about this situation or whether it’s caused a bump on their journey, they’re certainly not letting the cameras find out.

Furthermore, for those unaware, Saweetie actually responded to Quavo mentioning that he can turn any model into her by posting a screenshot of an alleged DM that the former Migo sent her back in January, which she still hadn’t opened. He hasn’t responded to this move publicly at press time, and we wonder whether or not he thought that his bars would come across as more defensive than mocking. Regardless, she hasn’t really said much about Chris Brown and about how he claimed to have slept with her while she was with Quavo in the first place, opening up this whole can of worms. This is all mostly speculative, but you can start to see where the tea really gets interesting in this whole debacle.

Of course, there’s a good chance that the Icy Girl will respond to some of this on her upcoming single, which she has teased quite heavily and much to fan excitement. After all, she recently suggested that she might rewrite some bars for it while this whole beef between Quavo and Chris Brown was heating up with diss tracks and responses. No matter how Saweetie chooses to handle this moving forward, YG’s seemingly got her back. But we know that things can change quickly, especially behind closed doors that we can’t peep behind just yet.

For example, this couple were recently the subject of breakup rumors themselves, so we can only wish them the best moving forward. Still, what do you think about this whole situation? However you may feel, let us know your thoughts down in the comments section below. Also, check back in with HNHH for more news and the latest updates on Saweetie, YG, Chris Brown, and Quavo.

YG Drops A Speaker “KNOCKA” With New Single

YG was one of the hottest names out of California when he came up in the early 2010s. He was celebrated — deservedly so — for projects like My Krazy Life and Still Brazy. Each provided tons of bangers and some terrific G-funk nods. However, his last few records such as STAY DANGEROUS, I GOT ISSUES, and etc. have not been nearly talked about as much. But YG is proving that he still has plenty left in the tank with “KNOCKA.”

This is his first solo release since 2022’s “Miss My Dawgs” with Lil Wayne. Over the last year or so, his singles have been collaborations with Tyga mainly. Tracks like “Brand New,” “PLATINUM,” and “PARTy T1M3” were all for their 2023 team effort Hit Me When U Leave The Klub: The Playlist. But “KNOCKA,” according to Genius, is looking to be a promotional teaser for Just Re’d Up 3.

Listen To “KNOCKA” By YG

They believe it will arrive sometime in July of this year and it would be following up the second entry in the series which dropped back in 2013. On “KNOCKA,” YG is rapping with a lot of energy like always, but his flow may be the most impressive part. Every bar ends with some form of an “uh” sound, tying into the phonetic spelling of “KNOCKA.” The beat is also pretty addictive with a killer sample loop. Be sure to support YG with the link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “KNOCKA” by YG? Is this one of his better tracks as of late, why or why not? Does this get you excited for his upcoming project Just Re’d Up 3? The bottom, the bottom, but the top is where they spot ’em
And when you on the top, all the boppers let you dot ’em
Her daddy went home, now lil’ daddy got her
Slut her out proper like NLE Choppa
Got shotters on shotters on shotters on shotters
Wipe a n**** nose like, “N****, clean that snot up”

YG has returned with his first solo track of the year, “Knocka,” accompanied by a vibrant music video. Under his new BMG deal, the lyrical titan showcases his consistency and energy, solidifying his status in the rap scene.

“Knocka” kicks off with a blend of classic and contemporary sounds, featuring a soulful background vocal leading into YG’s commanding proclamation, “this sh*t is a Knocka,” a hook that resonates throughout the song. With his distinctive West Coast style, YG effortlessly blends elements of his LA roots with a modern twist, which is evident in the track and its accompanying visuals.

The music video captures YG’s arrival in Compton, donning a matching red outfit and vibing to the music alongside locals. Dynamic scenes showcase YG surrounded by dancing women, confidently wielding a flamethrower and tossing money into the air, creating a celebratory atmosphere that mirrors the song’s energy.

It’s been a strange few months for YG and Saweetie, who started dating last year. Rolling Loud Los Angeles 2024: Five Best Sets Of The Weekend

Every year, some of the biggest stars in rap and R&B gather in one place. Over the weekend that place was Los Angeles for the 2024 Rolling Loud LA Festival. With four big-name headliners and dozens of beloved supporting acts, everybody got a taste of something they love during the festival. While everyone goes to music festivals for different artists and different reasons, these were some of the best sets of the weekend that brought both energy and theatricality to the festival stage.

Summer Walker

For a lot of artists, the spectacle is as much a part of the show as anything else. That was definitely the case right out of the gate for Summer’s Saturday Night performance at the GoPuff stage. With an impressive live band and array of backup dancers she made her presence known instantly upon arrival. But unlike some of the weekend’s other most theatrical performances, there was actually substance underneath the flash.

Throughout her set, Walker brushed through numerous fan favorites as well as some of her newest material. Throughout, Walker’s vocals were stunning, consistently soaring above the live instrumentation. Her performance was strong enough to reach the dramatic peaks of some of her most dramatic sonic moments and it made the set an absolute delight.

Future And Metro Boomin

Rolling Loud has a reputation for virality. That often comes from huge moments where the biggest names in hip-hop take an absolutely massive stage to show off their sheer force of star power. The only set of the entire weekend that lived up to that level of grandiosity was the Sunday night headlining slot of Future and Metro Boomin. The two superstars closed out the entire festival with a career-spanning performance that lived up to the promise of Rolling Loud.

Just a few weeks ago the pair confirmed that they have two new albums on the way very soon. Throughout the set, they continually promised that it was going to be some of the best music of the year. From what they performed live, many fans agreed, In particular, when the duo had fellow stars Travis Scott and Playboi Carti join them on stage it made for one of the best and most talked about moments of the entire weekend.

Flo Milli

Saturday night, Flo Milli hit the GoPuff stage in the wake of a major couple of weeks for her. She’s scored one of her biggest hits to date with the single “Never Lose Me,” which just got a new remix featuring SZA and Cardi B. She also just released her new album Fine Ho, Stay her first new project since 2022. All of that gave her plenty of reason to celebrate and flex, which is exactly what she did throughout her set.

She delivered one fan-favorite cut after another spanning her entire career during the 30-minute set. Much like her albums, it was an absolute banger fest. For one song after another Flo Milli routinely got the chance to spit confident bars and hard-hitting catchy refrains. With an audience clearly packed full of die-hard fans the intensity and attitude of the performance was unrivaled for the entire weekend.

YG And Tyga

It’s only fitting that two of California’s finest would deliver one of the best performances of Rolling Loud Los Angeles. YG first appeared on Thursday night alongside Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, and a myriad of other guests for the VULTURES listening party. But that was nothing compared to the energy he would bring to his own set on Friday. He’s celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut album My Krazy Life and kicked off the set with fiery performances of some of the album’s classics.

But the highlight of the show came once the pair went back to back in the second half. They did an impromptu live Verzuz on stage that reminded fans they both have hit after hit. That even included a surprise appearance from Saweetie alongside YG where they tantalized the crowd by flirting on stage. The celebration of two of the West Coast’s finest felt like one of those Rolling Loud moments that fans will talk about for years to come.

Ski Mask The Slump God

One of the most signature elements of Rolling Loud is the raucous crowds. Nearly every year videos of massive mosh pits breaking out with fans going absolutely wild hit the internet and go viral. It’s arguably the hallmark of the entire festival. Yet the only crowd of the weekend that really felt like it lived up to that high bar of intensity was Ski Mask The Slump God. He’s no Rolling Loud novice and you could tell as he seemingly knew exactly what songs to deliver to get the crowd hype.

During the second half of the set, he paid tribute to both XXXTENTACION and Juice Wrld and the crowd chanted along with nearly every word of every song. From the more intimate moments where cell phone lights swayed back and forth to the throttling intensity of songs like “Rip Roach,” Ski Mask’s set was the weekend’s lone moment that felt like it was destined to be the next viral Rolling Loud crowd hype video. Nobody all weekend was in command of the stage and the crowd more than Ski Mask The Slump God.

YG’s “My Krazy Life” Turns 10: A Modern West Coast Classic

For most artists, their debut album is one of the most important projects they will ever release. It sets the stage for the rest of their career and determines how their subsequent projects will be received. In 2014, YG successfully introduced his music to the world with My Krazy Life, his debut album. While he had released a handful of mixtapes between 2009 and 2013, it was My Krazy Life that firmly put the rapper’s name on the map. Since the album dropped, YG has released several excellent projects. However, even 10 years after its release, fans still always come back to My Krazy Life. Without a doubt, it is one of the most important works in YG’s entire catalog.

The Buildup To My Krazy Life

Before making it big and properly entering the mainstream market, YG built a loyal fan base on MySpace. The rapper’s music began getting heavy play on the platform while he was in jail on resident burglary charges. When he was finally released in 2009, he was immediately sought out by labels who wanted to sign him. Subsequently, he signed to Def Jam where he soon started releasing his mixtapes. In 2012, the rapper first announced his debut album, titled I’m 4rm Bompton at the time. However, in 2013, YG subsequently changed the title to My Krazy Life. After completing the album, YG released My Krazy Life on March 18, 2014.

The Subject Matter Of The Album

YG has spoken extensively about what My Krazy Life means to him. By all means, the album is a very personal piece of work to the rapper, and sees him being open and vulnerable in a peculiar way. While speaking to HipHopDX about the album in 2013, YG shared, “My album is catered to my life, my culture and the West Coast. It’s like a day in the life of YG from the morning until the night.”

In another 2013 interview with Vice, he further elaborated on the subject matter of the album. “It’s a lot of crazy shit. My album is catered to my life, you feel me? Shit that was really going on in my lifestyle, coming from where I come from, the West Coast, the culture out there. Gang banging, drugs, parties, and, just like every other culture, the same shit. It’s a lot of gang-banging going on, it’s shooting going on, it’s robbing going on. It’s fucking bitches. All that shit,” he said. As promised, My Krazy Life is littered with songs that see YG spitting bars about different aspects of his life. Admittedly, the harsh realities addressed in the project would turn some listeners away. However, many others continue to appreciate the grittiness and raw honesty YG showcased on My Krazy Life.

Contributors And Tracklist Of The Album

Many heads and hands came together to assist YG in creating this body of work. DJ Mustard handled the majority of the production with further contributions made by Metro Boomin, Ty Dolla Sign, Mike Free, B Wheezy, C. Ballin, Terrace Martin, and Chordz. Altogether, they built the soundscape of My Krazy Life, giving YG room to go as hard as he wanted on each track. The 17-track album also includes guest appearances from several artists. All four singles released from My Krazy Life have guest features. These songs are “My N***a” ft. Jeezy & Rich Homie Quan, “Left, Right” ft. DJ Mustard, “Who Do You Love” ft. Drake, and “Do It to Ya” ft. TeeFlii. Undeniably, these four tracks are among the album’s best songs. Other standout tracks are “Sorry Momma” ft. Ty Dolla Sign, “Bompton”, and “Really Be” ft. Kendrick Lamar.

The Lasting Success Of My Krazy Life

In the years since its release, this album has solidified itself as a modern-day classic. When YG dropped My Krazy Life in 2014, there was no telling how successful it would become. However, the album is undeniably one of the most beloved projects he has ever released. It remains his best-selling album for a reason. It is also still his highest-charting album on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at number two. In its own way, this album has left an indelible mark on the Hip Hop landscape, and will surely still be remembered for years to come. YG now has multiple stellar albums to his name, but he certainly set the bar high with My Krazy Life in 2014.

Are Saweetie And YG Back Together?

Earlier this year, The Shade Room reported that Saweetie and YG had ended their relationship after dating since at least May of last year.

And this is why you don’t listen to The Shade Room, or any of those Instagram gossip accounts, really. I have harped on the subject of reliable sources for months and months and stuff like this is why.

During YG and Tyga’s set at Rolling Loud California this past weekend, YG brought Saweetie onstage, where they got cozy and exchanged declarations of love.

The two West Coast rappers were rumored to be dating after collaborating together on multiple songs. Then, in May 2023, they were spotted taking a romantic vacation in Cabo. Since then, they’ve been seemingly inseparable, teaming up with Tyga for the Str8 To The Club tour last autumn and collaborating again on Saweetie’s summer single “Birthday” (again with Tyga).

Saweetie has been more actively promoting her solo music this year, releasing the single “Richtivities” and collaborating with fellow Bay Area native P-Lo for the 49ers playoff anthem “Do It For The Bay.” It certainly sounds like she’s rebooting her album rollout, which could mean that her long-awaited debut project is on the way.

Saweetie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

YG Brings Saweetie To Rolling Loud L.A., Couple Shuts Down Breakup Rumors

YG and Saweetie are apparently still going strong, as the former brought the latter out during his Rolling Loud performance in Los Angeles on Friday (March 15). Moreover, rumors and reports previously indicated that the two went their separate ways in early January, but their onstage PDA suggests that they either changed their minds or never broke up in the first place. “I love you girl,” the Cali rapper told his fellow Cali rapper as she made her way offstage following their steamy interlude. The two have been together since around May of 2023, and with their anniversary coming up, maybe their bond will feel stronger than ever.

However, we can’t say that this reunion is all that surprising, considering that fans were already starting to put two and two together. For example, Saweetie’s recent Instagram post from back in February had fans thinking that she hadn’t broken up with YG yet. Not only that, but news of their split was coming from other sources and reports that weren’t either of the MCs directly. As such, there were plenty of reasons to wait and see what they did, and we’re glad we waited to get this Rolling Loud guest slot.

Saweetie & YG At Rolling Loud L.A. 2024: Watch

Elsewhere, both artists are celebrating a lot these days and basking in their success and acclaim. For Saweetie, this recently manifested in a new single “Richtivities,” a stunning appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, and an alleged incident with Cardi B at this event. This is just more hearsay and gossip, but one that’s also based on fan interpretation of the Bronx rapper’s recount. Perhaps we’ll never know if they really ran into each other here.

Meanwhile, the Still Brazy spitter was one of many guests on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES 1. Their collab “DO IT” is among the more fun and bouncy cuts on the record, even if its second half is pretty much just “Back That Azz Up.” But can’t we all revisit what we love? Seems like this couple took a cue from those sessions. Fo more news and the latest updates on YG and Saweetie, come back to HNHH.
