YG Brings His New Single ‘Toxic’ To A Smooth ‘A COLORS Show’ Performance

YG‘s Mary J. Blige-sampling new single, “Toxic,” is off to a strong start after dropping on Friday, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t about to help it along with some promotion of his own. YG made the trip to Colors Studios to deliver a smooth performance of his new song for the fan-favorite A COLORS Show. As usual, he’s decked out in bright red, with a paisley-printed jacket setting off his leather pants and unsubtle jewelry collection, choosing a lavender backdrop that highlights his favorite color rather than contrasting it.

The lyrics of “Toxic” find YG contemplating the dissolution of a situationship as his would-be paramour realizes that his attentions come cheaply, no matter how much money he spends. “But she confused, she want titles and I tell her ‘Nah’ / She confused, us together is what she saw / She confused, ’cause I love her so that’s what she thought / She’s confused and that’s ’cause I be in it raw.” In the end, it turns out that the woman YG has lavished with gifts and money is just a sidepiece who has to be content with playing her position.

“Toxic” is the fourth single YG has released this year after “Sign Language,” “Scared Money” featuring J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo, and “Run” with Tyga, 21 Savage, and BIA. It’s thought that these songs will all appear on his upcoming album, I’ve Got Issues, due in September. The album will be YG’s first after completing his five-album deal with Def Jam, although he did re-up on a licensing deal with his old label to make sure he retains ownership of his music.

Mozzy Taps Saweetie, 2 Chainz & YG for ‘In my Face’

As Mozzy prepares for the release of his upcoming album, Survivor’s Guilt, he calls on an all-star line-up for his latest track.

Two days ago Mozzy took to his Instagram to preview the video for his latest track, “In My Face.”

“Summer Ain’t Over,” he says in the caption.

The Fella Fella is joined by YG on the hook and 2 Chainz and Saweetie on the verses. The video takes viewers through a rump-shaking house party that perfectly parallels the vibe of the up-tempo track produced by DJ Mustard.

It is safe to say The Icy Girl came through with a standout verse within the star-studded line up. Mozzy agreed as well.

Mozzy’s newest track follows a number of progressive moves for the West Coast rapper including his new allegiance to Yo Gotti’s CMG label. Mozzy joined a roster that boasts Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee, 42 Dugg, Black Youngsta, BlocBoy JB, its newest signee GloRilla and more.

The newest CMG signee is ready to give fans a follow-up to his 2021, Untreated Trauma with Survivor’s Guilt on Friday.

Mozzy Gets Raunchy In His ‘In My Face’ Video With 2 Chainz, Saweetie, And YG

The turn-up is real in Mozzy’s new video for “In My Face” featuring 2 Chainz, Saweetie, and YG. Produced by Mustard, who also appears in the video, the song is a debauched party anthem that finds Mozzy, Chainz, and Saweetie throwing in some genuinely raunchy verses while YG implores a female partner to “put it in my face.”

All the features involved are good looks; YG and Mozzy are fresh off their joint album Kommunity Service, so it’s good to see them reunite, Saweetie is a fellow Northern California resident who sounds more refreshed than ever here, and 2 Chainz and Mustard have made magic together in the past. All told, their contributions make for an upbeat West Coast jam that should help Mozzy edge closer to the spotlight — or at least hold down a spot in summer playlist rotations for the sunny months.

“In My Face” will appear on the Sacramento rapper’s upcoming mixtape Survivor’s Guilt, which is due this Friday, July 22. Previously released singles include “Lurkin” feat. EST Gee and “Open Arms.” Survivor’s Guilt will be Mozzy’s first release under Yo Gotti’s CMG imprint, which is another good look after the group received a wave of positive press in the wake of their NBA Finals anthem “Big League” and signing GloRilla. CMG is also recently released Gangsta Art, its first compilation album, on which Mozzy certainly gets plenty of shine.

YG recently has hit the mark of 10 billion career streams and 2 billion views on YouTube. To keep the momentum going, the West Coast legend has dropped off his new single and video for “Run” featuring Tyga, 21 Savage, and BIA.

The video opens with YG and Tyga prepping for a heist, pulling off their best impression of The Wayans’ White Chicks to get the job done. The robbery leads to a chase through Calabasas and a bunch of other wild moments.

You can see the video and hear the bars from the quartet of rap stars below.

YG Is On The ‘Run’ With Tyga, BIA, And 21 Savage In Their Mischievous New Video

It’s very possible that YG could give us his third project in as many years with the impending release of his sixth solo album. He concluded 2021 with the release of “Sign Language,” accompanied by a sunny video strapped with lowriders. After that, he returned alongside J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo on “Scared Money,” a track he later performed with the latter rapper on The Tonight Show. There’s no word on when YG’s sixth album will arrive, or even what it will be called, but we’re taking one more step towards it with his new single “Run” which places YG alongside Tyga, BIA, and 21 Savage.

On the new track, the four rappers speak about their mischievous lives while flexing their flashy spending and partying habits. In its matching video, YG and Tyga appear as a notorious criminal duo known as the Calabasas Sisters. They rob and bank away and make a run for it as BIA and 21 Savage help to make sure that their getaway is successful.

YG’s latest track arrives after he teamed up with Mozzy for their collaboration project Kommunity Service last summer. That project was a brief one with just ten songs but it also flaunted appearances from Blxst, Ty Dolla Sign, Young M.A, G Herbo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Tyga, and others. As for YG’s last solo project, that arrived back in 2020 with My Life 4Hunnid, a 13-track effort strapped with appearances from Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Tyga, Lil Tjay, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Mosey, Calboy, and more.

You can check out the video for “Run” above.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
