Drake v. UMG/iHeartMedia Case Leaves Court Confused As Hearing Date Suffers Unforeseen Delays

Drake‘s Texas hearing was rescheduled to January 13 after confusion occurred in court on Friday (Dec. 20). Outlets were informed the deposition would be held on Friday by Bexar County Clerks. Reporters were surprised by no announcement of the case number. Clerks revealed a mistake in scheduling announcements. Scheduled for December 18, it was rescheduled to December 20. The December 20 hearing was rescheduled again for December 19. Thursday’s hearing did not occur, with all parties agreeing on a motion to set the hearing delayed to January 13.

Drake’s attorney filed a letter to Judge Gloria Martinez and the District Clerk dropping Thursday’s hearing and requesting the reschedule. It reads: “Please allow this letter to confirm that Plaintiff will pass the hearings on his Rule 202 Petition that are currently docketed on Thursday, December 19, 2024 and Friday, December 20, 2024. Per the Third Amended Notice of Hearing, Plaintiffs Rule. The petition will be heard on January 13, 2025.”

Drake, UMG/iHeartMedia Hearing Rescheduled To January 2025

News of the rescheduling follows Spotify’s response to Drake’s petition in federal court filed in November. The streaming giant denied all allegations, claiming they assisted in the possible artificial inflation of Kendrick Lamar’s massive hit, “Not Like Us.” In the response, Spotify told Billboard: “The predicate of Petitioner’s entire request for discovery from Spotify is false,” the company’s lawyers write. “Spotify and UMG have never had any such arrangement.”

Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s feud appeared subliminal for years. In April, Lamar disssed Drake and J. Cole directly on Future/Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” The” “Big 3” insult resulted in diss tracks “Push Ups” and “Family Matters” by Drake and “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar. Additionally, “Not Like Us” is a huge success, breaking multiple records. Drake told xQc he is unfazed by the rap battle that peddled “fairytales” claims.

Drake All Smiles After Receiving Custom Cake With His Face On It In

It’s been an undoubtedly difficult year for Drake. The Toronto rapper recently decided to take legal action against UMG and Spotify over Kendrick Lamar’s hit diss track, “Not Like Us.” He accuses the companies of artificially boosting the song using bots and payola and alleges that UMG could have prevented its release. Of course, this sparked a major debate among social media users and peers, who are split when it comes to the bold move. Some think Drake has a chance at changing the music industry for good, while others just think it’s a bad look.

Fortunately, however, it looks like Drake is doing just fine amid all of this discussion. In a new set of photos, he appears to be in good spirits, posing alongside a custom cookie cake with his face on it that he received in Texas this week. He wore a big smile as he held the cake, which said “home for the holidays.” At the time of writing, it remains unclear exactly where and why Drake received the custom cake, but it’s safe to say that he appreciated it.

Drake might look carefree in these new photos, but according to Wack 100, he might have quite a bit to worry about. During a recent conversation with Adam22, the personality alleged that he has a flash drive that could end his career. “I see you got Top5 up there … Drake needs to get away from Top5,” he alleged. “This is how much respect I have for you, Drake. I’m telling you. Somebody, listen. Drake hit me. No troll. On Piru, you need to get away from that dude [Top5].”

“This has been in existence for 90 days, and I have made sure … and it hasn’t went anywhere, personally,” he also alleged. “I think you know what I’m talking about. That dude, with his mouth and the things he says. It does not support your career and how far you’ve come.”

Boosie Badazz Breaks Silence On His Arrest Warrant In Texas: Watch

Boosie Badazz recently ran into legal trouble. The controversial rapper had a warrant issued against him in Texas. The warrant was for theft of service charge, as Boosie was accused of stiffing chauffeur service out of $8,800. Boosie Badazz initially failed to acknowledge the accusations against him, but he decided to clear up the situation in a Shade Room exclusive. According to him, the warrant has been taken care of, and the whole situation was a misunderstanding.

The warrant against Boosie Badazz was issued on August 29. The Shade Room reported that the amount of money the rapper owed varied from $2K to $30K, and eventually confirmed the aforementioned total. Boosie, however, told the outlet that he was not informed of the warrant right away. “Never knew nothing ’bout that,” he explained over video. The rapper claimed that he rented a sprinter van in order to take all of his kids out for a day. “I thought I was doing a drop for the use of sprinter,” he stated. “To take my kids to the water park. I did the drop for the sprinter business, I also did a drop for his wife food company.”

Boosie Badazz Blamed The Warrant On A Misunderstanding

The company that rented the van claimed that they communicated with Boosie Badazz’s team regarding a cash payment that never came. The whole ordeal got more complicated, though. The rapper said that the sprinter van was broken into while he was renting it. Evidently, Boosie was stripped of several personal belongings. “At night the sprinter got broke into all my stuff got took out the sprinter,” he told the outlet. Despite the headache of having reportedly been robbed, Boosie Badazz paid the restitution. The warrant against him was subsequently cleared.

“I’m just glad it’s been resolved,” he told The Shade Room. “I paid the restitution. I ain’t finna do nothing on no fed paper bout some crumbs,” he said. Boosie Badazz had a pretty busy day on September 24. In addition to clearing the air on his warrant, he was seen scolding his son. The bizarre ordeal took place on the set of a music video starring Boosie’s son Tootie Raw and T.I.’s song King Harris. Boosie scolded the young men for glamorizing gun violence in their video, and T.I. co-signed the veteran rapper’s stance. It probably doesn’t help that both Boosie Badazz and T.I. have served prison time for gun charges in the past.

Lil Reese Wanted By Texas Police After Allegedly Assaulting Ex Girlfriend

Lil Reese is a wanted man. TMZ reports that an arrest warrant was sworn out against the rapper on Tuesday, September 17. The Houston Police Department claims that Lil Reese had an altercation with a woman believed to be his ex-girlfriend at The Pinkhouse fka Barbie Nightclub. The woman in question alleged that the rapper punched her in the right cheek and applied pressure to her neck with both hands. Lil Reese’s whereabouts are currently unknown.

The woman, who has not yet been identified by name, claimed that she dated Lil Reese for two months. She ended the relationship a month ago, and stated that her encounter with Reese at The Pinkhouse was a complete coincidence. TMZ reports that the rapper tried to kiss the woman multiple times, but became upset when his advances were rejected. The aforementioned assault then took place in front of multiple witnesses. The woman’s friends called security in an attempt to intervene. Lil Reese’s alleged ex claims that she was “gasping for air” during the attack.

Lil Reese Allegedly Punched And Choked His Ex

The Houston Police Department confirmed that the woman had red marks on her throat when she filed her report. There were also fingernail scratches observed at various spots on her neck. Lil Reese’s legal representation has not responded to these claims, or the warrant that has been sworn out for his arrest. This is not the first time the Chicago rapper has been embroiled in a legal matter, though. Lil Reese was shot in the neck and critically wounded at an intersection in Country Club Hills, Illinois in 2019. Two years later, the rapper was grazed by a gunshot in a Chicago parking garage.

Reese was also arrested in July in relation to a rape case. TMZ reported that the rapper was taken into custody in Los Angeles, but he was cleared a month later. The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office told the outlet that they decided not to pursue the case due to an insufficient amount of evidence. Reese was dismissive of the accusation when he discussed the matter on Twitter. “Some of these h*es be strictly for the streets,” he wrote. “You gotta just kno [sic] they ain’t wifey type.”

DJ Retracts Claim That Drake Banned Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” In Texas

Drake’s influence is far and wide. He’s been one of the biggest artists in the world for half a decade. He has a particularly noteworthy influence in Texas, through his connections with J Prince. When it was rumored that Drake and J Prince had banned Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” in Texas clubs, it wasn’t entirely out of the question. The 6 God is known for being petty behind closed doors. J Prince, on the other hand, claims to have been involved with the Pusha T battle back in 2018. His input mad sense too. It turns out, though, that the rumor was untrue.

Ari the DJ was the woman who started the Texas rumor in the first place. She claimed she’d gotten in trouble multiple times for spinning “Not Like Us” via Twitter, which was quickly picked up by various outlets. Ari decided to set the record straight, however, on Instagram. She posted a screenshot of her original tweet, along with a headline detailing the alleged ban. According to Ari the DJ, things got lost in translation. “Headlines can be misleading,” she wrote on her IG Story. “Drake nor J Prince never told me to not play the song.” Ari the DJ then clarified that the orders to avoid “Not Like Us” came from people who respected Drake.

Drake Did Not Tell Club Promoters To Ban The Song

“Promoters and people that respect those guys told me not to and it was understood,” she explained. “That’s it, that’s all.” This isn’t the first time Drake has been accused of making life difficult for Kendrick Lamar and his TDE cohorts. ScHoolboy Q accused the rapper of getting his recent concert in Toronto shut down due to the ongoing beef. “TOP was just wit Wayne & Baby smH” Q tweeted. Partynextdoor just Had a sHow @ tHe palladium. If we wanted to get yall we would’ve just did it.. now wHen sumbody get Hurt don’t cry…”

There’s no evidence to link Drake to the cancelation of ScHoolboy Q’s concert. That being said, the venue for the show did have affiliates with the 6 God, as well as Live Nation. Drake has been quiet on record when it comes to the Kendrick Lamar beef, but rumors have continued to swirl that he has more music coming. The rapper has fueled these rumors on social media. On July 22, Drake posted a photo wearing a Tupac shirt reading: “Only God Can Judge Me.” Sounds like the war is still going on to us…

Drake Visits Texas Saddle Shop As New Music Rumors Run Rampant

Drake has had a bit of a rough start to the year thanks to Kendrick Lamar. Although he entered his feud with Kendrick feeling confident, he ultimately got blown out thanks to “Meet The Grahams” and “Not Like Us.” Overall, most fans believe Kendrick won the battle. This was subsequently strengthened by some weak verses on “U MY EVERYTHING” and the parody track “Wah Gwan Delilah.” However, Drake is now setting his sights on his new ranch in Texas, which cost him a cool $15 million.

Over the weekend, Drake was seen posted up at the ranch, where he was taking photos with horses. Moreover, his trip to Texas led to some speculation and reports that he is filming a music video. Some believe he is looking to dabble in country music. Meanwhile, others just think Drake is changing locations to get some inspiration. Whatever the case may be, he is clearly looking to make a new home for himself down South.

Drake Is Making A New Home For Himself

In the Facebook post above, Drake could be seen at the Brenham Saddle Shop. As the owners of the shop revealed, the superstar’s team called ahead of time. That’s when they let the shop know he would be swinging by. The owners then went on to note that they opened up the shot ahead of time for Drake, and that his entire team was courteous. They had nothing but good things to say about the artist. Furthermore, he even stopped to take a photo with all of them. It was a cool moment and one that will likely continue to happen in other shops as Drake looks to make connections in the state.

Let us know what you think of Drake’s latest moves, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that Drake is going to pivot into country music like a lot of other artists have been doing? Do you even want to hear anything else from Drizzy this year? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Megan Thee Stallion Treats Texas Tour Stops To Bun B, Paul Wall, Slim Thug & More Special Guests

Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer” tour with GloRilla has wowed audiences and racked up big moments in spades, and everything is that much bigger in Texas. Moreover, her performances in the state (one night in Dallas, one night for Austin and two nights at her home city of Houston over the past week or so), held a lot of big surprises, instances of gratitude and triumph, and of course, plenty of killer tracks and highlights. For Austin (the Thursday, June 13 show), Paul Wall joined the stage, whereas Bun B, Slim Thug, and Lil Keke accompanied Tina Snow in Houston on Friday, June 14. You can find clips below, as well as more footage with the “Via” links further down.

Not only that, but there is one more Texas show left, specifically another Houston date, so who knows what could happen tonight (Saturday, June 15)? Maybe there won’t be any special guests, maybe they will be the same, or perhaps Megan Thee Stallion is bringing out even more people. Either way, we’re sure it’ll be a great show, and that it’ll continue to fuel hype for her upcoming album, Megan. The 29-year-old is teasing more material ahead of the LP, and it sounds like it could really ring off.

However, some fans are a little bit confused by Megan‘s rollout given the multiple album covers we’ve received for it. At press time, it’s still relatively unclear which one will grace most platforms and which ones will be alternate editions, if at all. Still, some folks definitely liked some of Megan Thee Stallion’s most recent artwork as opposed to her initial reveal, so all’s well that ends well. Maybe more artists should feel free to trial run their covers if they want more fan input.

Bun B, Slim Thug & Lil Keke Join The Houston Fun

Meanwhile, this success in Texas as far as shows proves Megan Thee Stallion’s place as an arena artist, something that Charlamagne Tha God recently checked himself over doubting. “Clearly we got our answers,” he said on The Breakfast Club after previously questioning whether she falls in that category. “She sold out 13 arena stops in over 240K tickets across North America and Europe. Yeah, so if you’re selling out arenas, you’re an arena artist.”

Drake Unveils His New $15M Texas Ranch In Stunning Photos

Drake is really entering a new phase of his life. His battle with Kendrick Lamar is over, as far as we can tell, and he’s dedicated himself to “summer vibes.” He’s dropped a baffling cover of “Hey There Delilah” and a Sexyy Red duet. Drake’s latest decision, however, may be his most significant. The Toronto rapper has decided to purchase a sprawling, $15 million ranch in Washington County, Texas. He announced the purchase in May, but he finally unveiled the ranch on his Instagram on June 12.

Drake’s photoshoot is moody as one would expect from the king of captions. There’s photos of him outside the ranch, which is called the Inn at Dos Brisas, and photos of him inside. Fans get a peek at Drake’s horses, as well as the stables in which they’re kept. They also get to see him look forlorn and contemplative inside his vehicle. The caption simply reads: “wick ’em.” It’s unclear what this means in the context of the Inn at Dos Brisas. It does, however, harken back to Drake’s 2023 song “Wick Man,” which throws subs at several other rappers. The song also sees the 6 God make reference to several international locations.

Drake Has Settled Down In The Lone Star State

Drake has been hyping up his Texas purchase for months. In September 2023, the rapper posted a video in which he announced his plans to buy property. He even adopted a Texas accent for the bit. “Me and my partna’, we done gone country on y’all,” he told fans. “We said we was gonna do it for a lot of years and we’re doing it today. The sale is made. We gotta drop a new one for this. If you see your girl at the ‘Lover Boy Lane,’ it’s over.” ‘Lover Boy Lane’ is, of course, a reference to Drizzy’s album Certified Lover Boy. Fittingly, the album contains the song “TSU,” which is an abbreviation for Texas State University.

Drake has always had a soft spot for Texas. One of his breakout songs mentions Houston in its title, “Houstatlantavegas.” The rapper has paid tribute to H-Town on “November 18th” by sampling a DJ Screw record and shouting out regional legends. There’s also the iconic “9AM In Dallas,” the planned opener for his debut album. It kickstarted the timestamp series that Drake is still riding out to this day.

Drake Purchases $15M Texas Ranch After Kendrick Lamar Feud

Things may not have worked out in Drake’s favor amid his viral feud with Kendrick Lamar, but evidently, the Toronto-born performer still has a lot of great things going for him. Recently, for example, it was revealed that he dropped $15M on a massive ranch in Brenham, TX. According to its listing agent Tonya Currie, it’s a rare find, and Drizzy was lucky to come across it at the right time. “Dos Brisas is a rare legacy ranch property that offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the right buyer, which we were able to find once we listed it bringing the price in line with the market conditions at the time,” she told CultureMap Dallas.

This isn’t the first time fans of heard of Drake moving down south, however. Back in October of 2023, the hitmaker shared the exciting news with a crowd at the Toyota Center. “I had to make it official first, but I’ve been looking for a long time, trying to figure out the right place for me to live, where I belong outside of Toronto,” he explained. “And I finally, finally after all these years, I found me a place in Houston, Texas. So y’all will be seeing me around.”

Drake Heads South

The 313-acre ranch was originally built in 2000 as a family retreat and was transformed into a resort this year. While it’s unclear exactly when Drake plans to move in, some fans suspect that he might be better off doing it sooner rather than later. Following his explosive lyrical battle with Kendrick, multiple people showed up at his mansion in the Bridle Path neighborhood of Toronto.

A shooting also took place near the performer’s home this month, leaving one of his security guards seriously injured. What do you think of Drake dropping $15M on a huge ranch in Texas following his viral feud with Kendrick Lamar?
