Have Rihanna & ASAP Rocky Worked On Music Together?

It’s been a while since we heard new music from either ASAP Rocky or Rihanna, as the power couple has been busy enjoying parenthood. During this week’s launch party for Rihanna’s latest Puma sneakers, the singer offered some insight into parenthood, including a self-deprecating dig at one of her own signature features that youngest son Riot didn’t inherit.

She was also asked about possible collaborations between her and her boyfriend Rocky, responding, “We did that already — twice.” Of course, she was talking about their two boys, not songs, but if you were wondering whether they’ve also recorded any songs together, we’ve got you covered there.

Their earliest collaboration was the 2011 “Cockiness” remix, which transformed the sixth single from her sixth studio album, Talk That Talk. Produced by “A Milli” producer Bangladesh, dubstep-influenced track received mixed reviews and peaked at No. 17 on Billboard‘s “Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles” chart.

Meanwhile, although Rihanna has yet to appear on any of Rocky’s songs, she has appeared in two of his music videos. In 2013, the video for “Fashion Killa” from Rocky’s debut studio album Long. Live. A$AP. featured Rihanna and followed the couple on a shopping date. Then, in 2022, Rocky kicked off marriage rumors about the couple when his video for “D.M.B.” not only starred Rihanna but also featured Rocky wearing a grill reading “Marry Me.”

In her red-carpet interview Rihanna expressed optimism about any future collaborations, saying, “Anything Rocky and me collaborate on is going to be fire,” because of their shared creative sensibility. Check out the interview below.

Thankfully for her Navy, Rihanna hasn’t been totally absent from the spotlight while taking a hiatus from music. Instead, we’ve seen her pour into Fenty Beauty/Skin, as well as her lingerie line. She made a triumphant return to the stage in 2022 with powerful contributions to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack like “Lift Me Up,” but at this time, it’s unclear when the mother of two plans to deliver her next studio LP.

2016’s ANTI was an impressive body of work, with features coming from SZA and Drake on “Consideration” and “Work” respectively. It’s unclear who Rih is interested in collaborating with on her next project, though many hip-hop heads have expressed interest in hearing a joint song between her and ASAP Rocky. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this week, the Barbadian artist gave an update on when we might hear new music from her, as well as any upcoming tour plans.

“Well we’re always gonna go back on tour,” Rih told the outlet after laughing. “I feel like, when there’s new music. We already know what that’s gonna be, with the songs that I’ve performed my last tour. That was a long time ago, I feel like it’s only fair that my fans get what they’ve been waiting on, which is new music. After that, lets just like, blow everything up,” she declared, seemingly hinting at an explosive schedule of performances coming in the future.

Elsewhere in the news, Rihanna can’t stop gushing about being a mother of two and watching her other half, ASAP Rocky, step confidently into fatherhood. Rumour has it that the Bad Gal is eager to see if they can conceive a girl in the future, though it’s unclear how much time she wants to take off after having RZA and Riot back to back. Rumors have begun to circulate that she and beaux Asap Rocky are working on expanding their family, but the couple has two confirmed children as of today.

Yesterday (December 18), before the Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty launch party in Los Angeles, California, Rihanna opened up about her journey through motherhood so far. While chatting with Access Hollywood (around the 1:30 mark), she confessed that she let go of all expectations going into it but was seemingly looking forward to passing on her distinctive forehead to her children.

“You don’t have an idea [when you picture your future family]. I hoped that I could have kids one day. And I hoped that I could have them in love. I hoped I could be a part of a family that breaks generational curses… it’s happening, and I can’t believe it,” said Rihanna.

She continued injecting some humor into the conversation. “The only thing I imagined was probably the forehead on RZA,” said Rihanna, referring to her oldest son.

“Riot doesn’t have it. I’m like, wait, are you sure? You can’t lose this thing,” giggled the singer.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Oprah revealed that Rihanna and Beyoncé were once considered for the cast, but she felt it more appropriate to give other actors an opportunity to shine.

“To be completely honest about it, if you were doing this film for $30 or $40 million, the interest in the cast would be very different,” Winfrey said. “Once the film moved to $90 to $100 million, then everybody wants us to bring Beyoncé. ‘Can you get Beyoncé or can you get Rihanna?’ So we’re sitting in a room saying, ‘Listen, we love Beyoncé. We love Rihanna, but there are other actors who can do this job.’”

However, right now, it seems like the couple is incredibly stressed about the latter’s firearm assault case from his associate A$AP Relli. Moreover, this comes from alleged source reports close to the family from Heat Magazine, who allegedly spoke to the outlet about their supposed knowledge of the situation. Apparently, the Barbadian singer is “terrified” of becoming a single mother if her partner faces jail time over this alleged incident. While she is as strong and as capable as ever, we can’t imagine the risk at hand here just when you’re starting a family of your own.

Furthermore, the source claimed that Rihanna is trying to “stay calm” amid all this legal drama. The most recent update on it is that the case is officially moving to trial. In addition, apparently ASAP Rocky’s lawyers are assuring her that they will keep him out of prison. “But it’s pretty hard when everyone had assured her this wouldn’t even go to trial,” the alleged source posited.
