Smino’s “Luv 4 Rent” Gets The ChopNotSlop Treatment: Stream

The tail end of 2022 saw the arrival of some undeniably incredible new music. Among the many standout albums is Smino’s Luv 4 Rent, which chiefly landed as October was drawing to a close. Since its arrival, the 15-track project has earned plenty of praise, even nabbing a spot on HNHH‘s yearly roundup of noteworthy hip-hop releases.

Even though it’s been over two months since its debut, the Missouri rapper’s work remains in streaming rotation for many. That’s not likely to change anytime soon, especially considering The Chopstars have gotten their hands on it to curate a fire remix.

Their ChopNotSlop cut of Luv 4 Rent landed earlier this week, and already, listeners are singing its praises online. Specifically, tracks like “No L’s” “Ole Ass Kendrick,” and “Pudgy” with Lil Uzi Vert are arising as favourites.

The Chopstars are no stranger’s to flipping popular releases on their head. Earlier this year, they did the same to Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss album, which also received an enthusiastic response from listeners.

“I’m glad Chop and Screw is becoming legitimized BH rappers,” one Reddit user specifically praised the creative group. “These would often get taken down from YouTube, so to see official versions on Spotify is a huge win. Big ups to Chopstars for real.”

Mannie Fresh Responds To Critics Of “Vax That Thang Up” Remix

Mannie Fresh has come to the defense of his recent song, “Vax That Thang Up,” a remix of Juvenile’s song, “Back That Azz Up.” He released the track back in 2021 as an effort to promote the COVID-19 vaccine.

Speaking with AllHipHop for a new interview, Fresh addressed the backlash he received for releasing the song.

“When we did the ‘Vax That Thang Up’ song or whatever, it wasn’t a song. It was just a parody telling people to get vaccinated,” he explained. “But it was something that I believed in and I was saying to folks, ‘If you don’t, it’s OK. You don’t have to go and do this. It’s not that serious.’ But there were people saying, ‘You destroyed the song and this song was the greatest song!’ And I’m like, ‘Do you know the title of the song?’ It’s called ‘Back That Azz Up.’ I’m like, ‘Did you listen to the lyrics of this song?’”

Afterward, Fresh discussed the idea of cyberbullying and how it felt to experience it for the first time.

He added: “I never understood cyberbullying until that came out. It didn’t mess with me because I feel like I’m a strong person. But I know kids got to go through this shit sometimes with people. If you got to go through that, it’s tough because folks was going crazy. They really felt angry. They were saying stuff like, ‘You ruined my childhood by doing this’ and blah, blah, blah. You need therapy if this ruined your life [laughs].”

Fresh also says that he’s currently working on new music with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. He also wants to release more of his own work. For now, he says that he’s working on building confidence. Fresh released his last studio album, Return of the Ballin’, back in 2009.

Fetty Wap Drops “Sweet Yamz” Remix With Ronald Isley & Charlie Wilson

One of the year’s last big viral hits has gotten yet another remix. Fetty Wap recruited soul legend Ronald Isley and Charlie Wilson for another remix of “Sweet Yamz.” While the last one featured Wiz Khalifa, this one is supercharged with incredible soul harmonies and vocal runs. Moreover, having such superstars on the remix helps accentuate the song’s vintage tone and instrumentation. It sounds like an ’80s-tinged soul track with some impassioned ad-libs here and there to give it extra energy.

These new versions of “Sweet Yamz” definitely feed into that positivity. It’s a lustful, urgent, yet charming and fun song whose vitality is no surprise. Moreover, the chorus melody is incredibly catchy, and the lyrics are simple enough to get stuck in your head. Meanwhile, the sheer vocal power on display on this song is quite impressive. The Jersey rapper switches between high and low registers with ease, and his potent voice conveys a lot of emotion. Also, this is his first solo material since 2021’s “First Day Out.”

Although Wap does great here, Wilson’s dominant screams and runs elevate the chorus. In addition, he gets cheeky in his verses, with some food references to convey his hunger for his partner. However, Ronald Isley steals the show at the very end, partly because he sounds eerily similar to Don Toliver (or rather, Don sounds like Isley). His higher register makes for a more animated performances, and his food references are even funnier and more outlandish.

Additionally, these hot songs come amid a tough legal battle for Fetty Wap as he’s incarcerated on drug charges. Last October, he spoke from jail and said that he was keeping his head high despite the controversy.

What did you think of this remix? How does it stack up to the original? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. If you’ve still yet to check it out, you can find “Sweet Yamz (Remix)” with Fetty Wap, Ronald Isley, and Charlie Wilson on your preferred streaming service. The yams are all I know (I know but)
Or was it just a distraction?
I see myself in your eyes, baby
Can I get to the yams?

Fetty Wap & Wiz Khalifa Team Up For “Sweet Yamz” Remix

Fetty Wap and his legendary run in 2015 will always be remembered by Hip-Hop fans. Throughout the last few years, Fetty has been searching for that lightning-in-a-bottle type single that would bring him back to the forefront of music conversation. Apparently, he has found that with the track “Sweet Yamz.”

Overall, this is an incredibly addictive track that just so happens to be an interpolation of Masego and Devin Morisson’s track called “Yamz.” Upon releasing his version, Fetty went viral on numerous platforms. However, the only platform that truly matters now is TikTok. “Sweet Yamz” has become a massive TikTok sound, and as a result, Fetty Wap is getting his flowers.

Fetty Wap Drops “Sweet Yamz” Remix

With “Sweet Yamz” becoming a massive moment, Fetty has subsequently decided to drop a remix. This remix features none other than Wiz Khalifa, and there’s no doubt that he understood the vibe of the track. While the first half of the track still features Fetty, the second half sees Wiz drop a verse.

Instead of delivering his usual rap sound, Wiz decides to turn up the autotune and croon a little bit. He matches Fetty Wap’s vibe nicely, and overall, it makes for a dope remix that fans will certainly enjoy. Honestly, it’s just nice to see Fetty Wap finally getting some shine again.

As always, you can stream the new track, below. Additionally, head down to the comments section and sound off on what you think of the remix. From there, stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the music world.

Quotable Lyrics:

I’m up early for them yams
By my lonely, need no friends

Do that all the time (Time)
