Playboi Carti Announces New Album “MUSIC” And Teases Release Date

There’s a Twitter meme that circulates whenever new Playboi Carti music is teased. Or rather, when new Playboi Carti music fails to be released. “One day,” the tweet reads. “Carti will release an empty CD and tell his fans to imagine the music. They’ll be like ‘I hear it.’” The rapper didn’t drop an empty CD, much to the benefit of everyone. He kind of did the announcement equivalent, though. He told fans to expect an enormous announcement at 9:30 pm ET on September 12. They did, and what they got was info they’d already had.

Playboi Carti announced that his next album will be titled MUSIC. He confirmed that the album will be coming out very soon. He also dropped pre-order links for the box sets that will come with the album. “Album release date to be announced,” Carti’s statement read. “Digital album will be available near the release date, no later than six months from April 18th, 2025.” So, basically, fans got confirmation on the fact that Playboi Carti is dropping an album soon. The album was already being listed as MUSIC on the rapper’s Genius page. He made an announcement for a release date announcement in the future…

Playboi Carti Confirmed That A Release Date Is Imminent

It could be worse, of course. Playboi Carti could have said nothing, and not provided any updates. That said, fans weren’t thrilled. We detailed some of the most disappointed reactions here. Adin Ross, who’s had his complications with Carti in the past, commented on the rapper’s Instagram announcement. He voiced what a lot of fans were feeling after the pre-order pump fake. “Can I have my money back,” Ross wrote.

There is good news for Playboi Carti fans, though. The rapper may have built things up and let fans down with his album announcement, but his lead single, “All Red,” is dropping September 13. “All Red” was first teased in 2023, so it’s been a long, long time coming. The release will not kick off the official MUSIC era for fans, but it will provide a proper introduction for the deeper voiced Carti that we’ve all been curious to hear more from.

Playboi Carti Drops Box Set Pre-Orders Instead Of Music And Fans Are Mad

He really had fans going there for a second. Playboi Carti set the music world on fire for a couple hours on September 12. He dropped a link teasing a major announcement at 9:30 pm ET. Immediately, the fans went wild with theories. Is Playboi Carti finally dropping a single? Could he be dropping a release date for the new album? Maybe even the album itself! The possibilities were endless. Then 9:30 rolled around, and we discovered what the announcement was.

Playboi Carti decided to release box sets to accompany his unreleased album. Well, scratch that. He released pre-order links for the box sets for the unreleased album. One of them comes with a hoodie, another comes with a t-short, the last one with a hat. All three pieces of clothing have the logo for his upcoming album, MUSIC, emblazoned on them. It’s not a bad thing in a vacuum, but Playboi Carti had everybody scrambling for something big. The hype leading up to the announcement did not meet the announcement itself. Fans were not happy.

Playboi Carti Teased An Impending Release Date

The meme machine was swift and efficient. Carti fans fired up the old standbys, like comps of bricked shots and that one image of the guy applying clown makeup in the mirror. “F*ck you playboi carti and ur mysterious sh*t we all know ur just sum normal a*s mf fake as f*ck,” wrote one particularly angry Twitter user. Others were less aggressive, and simply tired of being given the runaround. “Playboi Carti. We are tired,” another user tweeted. “We are sick of this. Please give us what we want.”

There is some silver lining to be gleaned from the pre-order drop. Well, sort of. Playboi Carti issued a statement confirming that the release date for the album will be “announced soon.” An announcement for the announcement. Like we said, sort of. Fans don’t want to hear more promises from Carti right now, though. They want to vent their frustrations. Keep scrolling to read more social media reactions to the pump fake drop. Do you think Carti will eventually drop his album? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more music/pop culture news updates.

Southside Hints At New Playboi Carti Collab With Surprising IG Reunion

Playboi Carti is up to something. He always is, but it seems like he’s actually getting close to sharing what said something is with the fans. The world has been waiting on Carti’s third studio album since 2020, with very little to go on in terms of updates. All this has changed in the last month, though. The rapper known for being secretive started posting regularly on Instagram. He showed up to accept an award at a Billboard ceremony. And on September 10th, Carti made a rare appearance on Southside’s Instagram.

The two men seemingly linked up to celebrate Playboi Carti’s Billboard award. “My youngin won his first award,” the producer stated. “I’m overly proud of you kid.” It was the way Southside concluded his post, however, that really got fans excited. He hinted that there is plenty more Carti music coming in the near future. “Many more to come,” he teased. Very little is actually know about Playboi Carti’s upcoming album, but the notion of Carti and Southside linking up on said album is actually more novel than you might.

Southside & Playboi Carti Teased “More To Come”

Southside has known Playboi Carti for years, as his caption would suggest. The two collaborated on the 2018 song “Ain’t Doin’ That,” but their collab history has been surprisingly limited since. They had some musical camaraderie on their one song, but Southside has spent more time working with guys like Kodak Black and Future. The reunion photo between the producer and Playboi Carti could be just that, a photo of two artists reuniting, but it could also be a teaser for new songs. Especially when you take Southside’s caption into account.

Of course, it’s all subject to change. Playboi Carti has admitted that his recording process is not normal in any sense. The rapper recently told Billboard that he will live in the studio, and go more off of feel than anything else. “It’s all based on confidence. I believe in myself,” Carti explained. “The moment I started recording, someone came to me and said that they like my songs. I stay in the studio every day.” The fact that the rapper is making public statements at all is a good sign. Hopefully we get to to hear some new Carti and Southside sooner than later.

Kendrick Lamar & Playboi Carti Affiliate Hints At Collaboration

A mutual friend of Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti’s has just given both fanbases exactly what the want, but precisely what they don’t need: hope. Moreover, after a fan proposed to Hitta that they should work together, he had the following to say: “Bet we can get this done when the time right most def.” For those unaware, he’s a longtime affiliate of both MCs, although this obviously isn’t 100% confirmation that his word is gospel. Still, it does contribute to wildly hyped new album rumors concerning these creatives, which have followed Carti for four years and Kendrick for two.

Of course, in Kendrick Lamar’s case, the hype for a new album looks very different thanks to his Drake battle and West Coast renaissance. For Playboi Carti, this might just be yet another attempt at a rollout, but it’s easily his most complete yet since Whole Lotta Red dropped in 2020. IG-only singles, massive collaborations, rare media appearances, and more keep fans foaming at the mouth with every new minuscule detail. All we can hope for concerning this Hitta update is that, if they ever do cross over, they execute it creatively, purposefully, and in an excitingly fresh way.

Will Kendrick Lamar & Playboi Carti Collaborate One Day?

After all, both Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti are great artists with wildly different skill sets, albeit with some similarities here and there. Just think of K.Dot’s vocal dynamism on any number of cuts from TPAB, Mr. Morale, etc. The wild energy that Carti brings to the table on Die Lit and other projects (as well as his psychedelic croons and wails) aren’t that far off. Maybe these artists are losing their window to drop as fans grow more impatient, disillusioned, and disinterested. But a collab would certainly change that conversation, especially since the Atlanta rage icon was just removed from a recent Drake collab…

Meanwhile, Playboi Carti recently debuted new material with The Weeknd, and the Kendrick Lamar rumors still run rampant. We don’t know what a collab would really sound like or if it would even work in the first place. But both rappers have the creativity and artistic drive necessary to build bridges and make magic with like-minded individuals. If they can connect and land on any sort of common ground, the results could be a generational torch-passing from one vocal chameleon to another. Or just a straight-up banger; either is fine.

Playboi Carti Confirms Anticipated “All Red” Music Video Is Coming Soon

Playboi Carti is a tough person to pin down. He’s become one of the most elusive artists in hip hop, and it’s very much by design. The rapper realized that there’s strength in keeping fans off balance. And he’s proceeded to do just that since the release of his breakout tape Die Lit. Playboi Carti has kept fans on the edge of their seats with regards to his upcoming album, despite failing to provide anything in the way of info or a concrete release date. That said, it looks like the rollout is finally underway. “All Red” is almost here.

It started out as a rumor. There was social media chatter that a music video for the anticipated Playboi Carti song was being shot. Naturally, there was a decent amount of skepticism. Hitta J3 tweeted that he was bringing Carti to a specific location for the “All Red” video shoot the weekend of September 6. It was a claim that wouldn’t have gotten much traction, were it not for the fact that Carti himself confirmed it. He reposted the Hitta J3 tweet on his Instagram Story with an excited caption. “5 Suuuuwoooo gang, and if u ain’t wit it den u in ah foodchain,” he wrote.

Playboi Carti Confirmed The Rumors On His IG Story

This is huge. Playboi Carti has been working on his upcoming album for years, but the last week or so has provided some encouraging signs. The rapper did a cover story with Billboard in which he talked about his nontraditional recording process. It was the sort of story that someone does when they have new music on the way, and it provided a glimmer of hope. Then there was the recent Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Awards.

The rapper was given the first award of his career, somehow, on September 5. His acceptance speech was brief, but he did take time out to pay respect to the late Rich Homie Quan. Playboi Carti has yet to provide a release date or even a proper title for his new album, but the fact that he’s shooting a music video for a lead single has fans understandably excited. It truly feels as though the long wait is coming to a close. I Am Music, or whatever the album will be called, is getting closer to release every day. We can’t wait to see what the “All Red” music video looks like.

Playboi Carti Pays Tribute To Rich Homie Quan During Award Acceptance Speech

September 5 proved to be a sad day in music. Rich Homie Quan died at age 34. There are countless album releases and events going on, but rappers everywhere are feeling the loss. Nowhere was this more evident than the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Awards. Playboi Carti won his first ever award at the event. The rapper had already paid tribute to Quan earlier in the day, but he took the time to give a shoutout to Quan before he exited the stage.

It’s bizarre to think about Playboi Carti having never won an award. Yet, those were the circumstances in which the elusive rapper came to the stage. He thanked his mother, he thanked God, and he thanked the Billboard organization for giving him the award. Carti took a beat before continuing his speech, looked at the award in his hand, and shifted directions. “RIP Rich Homie Quan,” he told the crowd. He proceeded to shout out Quan’s crew, which drew cheers of support from those in the audience.

Playboi Carti Paid Tribute To Quan Multiple Times

Playboi Carti previously posted music video footage of Quan on his Instagram Story. The two men never collaborated on a song together, but Carti has made it clear that he respected Quan as a musical talent. This is not the first time that Playboi Carti has talked about a fallen rapper in public. He paid tribute to the late, great Fredo Santana during a concert in 2022. “I miss Fredo like a motherfucker,” he told the crowd before wiping tears from his face.

Playboi Carti also got emotional talking about Juice WRLD. “That sh*t blew my mind bro,” he explained. “He was really a GOAT.” Carti’s voice cracked in the middle of the interview, and he reflected on the fact that he didn’t spend as much time with Juice as he intended. “Even if we wasn’t seen together like that,” he noted. “We was close.” Carti also noted that he regularly talks about the rappers who pass with peers like Lil Uzi Vert. He’s seen a lot, and sadly Rich Homie Quan is the latest to join the tragic list.

Playboi Carti Forced To Move After Fans Discovered His Home Address

Playboi Carti has developed a cult reputation among rap fans. He doesn’t release chart-topping singles, but his aesthetic and his mysterious persona has resulted in a level of obsession matched only by Frank Ocean listeners. There are upsides and downsides to this. The former is exemplified by the acclaim that Playboi Carti’s music gets. The latter is exemplified by the scrutiny and analysis that even the smallest details in his personal life receive online. Case in point: the rapper had to move when his home address was uncovered by a handful of fans.

Playboi Carti dropped this discomforting tidbit during a recent Billboard profile. He detailed the lengthy process of recording his last album, Whole Lotta Red, and the difficulties that ensued. The anticipation grew so high that fans began to stalk Carti and members of his family. He told the outlet that fans sent flowers to his mom’s house. Worse still, he was forced to uproot and move when his own home address leaked online. Most artists would voice frustration with this blatant lack of privacy, but Playboi Carti was adamant that he was still appreciative of those who supported him.

Fans Also Sent Flowers To Playboi Carti’s Mother

“I’m very blessed,” the rapper asserted. “But it is frustrating because [that’s where] we have to lay our heads.” While part of the fan obsession (and frustration) stems from the desire to hear new music, Carti refuses to rush his process. The rapper has been working on his third studio album for four years, and he has yet to announce a proper release date. Erin Larsen, the manager of Playboi Carti’s Opium label, was fully supportive of Carti’s process and maintaining his privacy while doing so.

“He’s giving people his absolute best,” Larsen told the outlet. “Things that he wants to put his stamp on. It delays the process. You don’t want to see the Mona Lisa in an art museum before it is a finished piece of work.” The Billboard profile is a sign that Playboi Carti’s album is impending, but the mystery around it remains intact. Repercussions be damned, the rapper is going to keep the fans waiting until he is ready.

Playboi Carti Gives Hopeful Progress Update On His Eagerly Awaited “I Am Music” Album

Saying that Playboi Carti fans are ready for I Am Music would be a massive understatement. The influential Atlanta, Georgia MC has been teasing his third studio album for quite a while, with a lot of it happening at the beginning of this year. The 28-year-old put out several tracks on his YouTube and Instagram accounts such as “EVILJ0RDAN”, “BACKR00MS”, “Ketamine”, “2024”, and more. Despite a lack of new singles or any news for that matter, Carti has been keeping busy in the features department.

He’s worked with the likes of Metro Boomin and Future, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, Camila Cabello, Drake and more. A few of his contributions have led to some high charting success, so at least he’s active and staying relevant. However, we would be lying if we said that this was enough. Thankfully, we are finally getting some more news surrounding I Am Music and it’s good. Billboard released a revealing feature on the mysterious rager that was conducted right before Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash in June.

Playboi Carti Is A “Meticulous” Creator

A post shared by billboard (@billboard)

In the article, he reveals that the album is still in the works and is still slated for a 2024 release. Throughout the piece, Carti is described as “meticulous”. The “Magnolia” hitmaker was frustrated with the creative losses during the recording of Whole Lotta Red thanks to leaks. It’s maybe why he’s taking an even more precautious approach to I Am Music, making sure that the art remains hidden, for the most part. Carti’s manager and Opium CEO, Erin Larsen, perhaps described it best when it comes to how he views his craft. “He’s giving people his absolute best, things that he wants to put his stamp on. It delays the process. You don’t want to see the Mona Lisa in an art museum before it is a finished piece of work”. While this might anger some, we are even more excited to hear what’s in store for us.

What are your thoughts on Playboi Carti saying that I Am Music is going to be releasing this year? Do you think everything will go according to plan, why or why not? Does this feature with Billboard reveal a lot to you about who Carti is? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Drake Drops “No Face” On Streaming Services, But There’s A Disappointing Catch

The second wave of “100 GIGS” content is following its predecessor’s lead: drop some songs on IG and bring them to DSPs little by little. However, Drake’s new tracks have also fallen victim to some big changes and plan shifts during this process, and streaming didn’t even have to be a factor for this to happen. For example, when we heard a CDQ version of “Supersoak (SOD)” via the @plottttwistttttt IG burner account, we realized that it no longer featured Lil Yachty as that track’s original leak did. Now, we have another example of this. The Boy dropped the well-received “No Face” on streaming services on Saturday (August 31), but Playboi Carti is no longer on it.

Furthermore, this is pretty disappointing and mysterious, as there’s no identifiable reason as to why the Atlanta rage exponent isn’t on the track anymore. But it’s not like he washed Drake on the track. Playboi Carti’s contributions were already just a minimal hook, and his collaborator definitely steals the show with his verses an energy. Still, we can’t help but think back on those Atlanta bars on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and how they have aged somewhat poorly. Some name-dropped artists like Quavo support Drizzy to this day, but even though Carti escaped K.Dot’s mention this time around, this is objectively a failed attempt to get a few dollars, even if the reasoning behind the collaboration falling through probably has nothing to do with the beef or with the “colonizer” argument. At least he dropped “Circadian Rhythm” on DSPs…

Drake Drops A Playboi Carti-Less “No Face” On DSPs

In other Drake news, KAYTRANADA recently revisited the topic of why the OVO camp never reached out to him again to produce for Honestly, Nevermind. “[KAYTRANADA] was approached at a Coachella after-party in L.A. to make beats for Honestly, Nevermind,” a Vulture interview with the producer read. “Though he says it would have been ‘an honor,’ he later overheard that it fell through because his casual response — ‘Sure, hit me up’ — lacked fawning enthusiasm.” “Was I supposed to be like, ‘Oh my God, for real? Drake?’ I’m not like that,” he added.

Even though Drake hinted at this Playboi Carti collab landing on streaming in its full form, it seems like that didn’t work out. Or at least, not yet. It’s still possible that he will update more of these releases in the near future. After all, part of the strategy right now is hitting DSPs once the Internet takes these tracks for a test run and builds hype to influence its release methods and circumstances.

Travis Scott Finally Releases Highly Sought After Playboi Carti Collab “Houdini”

Travis Scott is pulling off another impressive feat with his 2014 mixtape, DAYS BEFORE RODEO. La Flame is looking like he’s going to move around 217,000 copies of his 10-year-old project, outselling brand-new efforts from other artists. Just like in 2018 with ASTROWORLD, he’s trying to outpace another massive female artist in sales by dropping off tons of bundles. Last night, the Houston, Texas powerhouse dropped off five new editions. Three of them included two new “Vault” tracks apiece, with the other two being “Chopped N’ Screwed” and “Live From Atlanta” renditions.

“Vault 2” saw Travis Scott include “Hold On” with Quavo and Young Thug and “Respected”. For number three, fans were treated to “Naughty” and “Too Many Options with another Thugger appearance. Finally, “Vault 4” will probably go down as the most treasured of these three because it contains “Quintana Pt. 2 (Mike Dean Outro)” and “Houdini (WHOUDINI)” with Playboi Carti, according to NFR Podcast. If you want to get your hand on either one, especially the latter, you unfortunately cannot.

Fans Have Been Waiting For Travis Scott To Drop “Houdini”

They were available last night only for $4.99 each. However, “Houdini” is a track that’s been floating around the internet for years. A lot of Travis die-hards either have it on their Soundcloud or have a local file of some sort. Additionally, a fan account by the name of Sullyy is sharing the “Vault” tracks on his YouTube, which you can find above. When Scott announced the initial deluxe last week, he said the bonus cuts would be from the DBR era. However, these new bonus songs seem to be pulling from all over his career. “Houdini” was originally a hopeful inclusion for ASTROWORLD, making it a 2017-2018 recording. However, it never made the cut. Now, though, its officially out and fans are ecstatic.

Fan Reactions

What are your thoughts on Travis Scott finally releasing “Houdini” featuring Playboi Carti? Is this the most prized unreleased La Flame track in your eyes? Is this revitalization of DAYS BEFORE RODEO and its era one of the smartest things he’s ever done? Have you copped anything from the drop over the last week? Finally, should he drop any more tracks? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Travis Scott and Playboi Carti. Furthermore, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
