They have had their own tense moments in the past, and Iggy Azalea is speaking on Playboi Carti’s recent legal troubles. The two rappers were in a relationship for some time and share a son, Onyx. Their breakup unraveled on social media as Azalea accused Carti of neglecting time with her and their son to creep around with other women. At the time, she also aired out their personal business—a huge moment considering they kept just about every aspect of their romance private.
More recently, Playboi Carti was reportedly arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident. The altercation itself was said to have taken place two months ago. TMZ further stated Carti was detained in Georgia and booked on charges of obstructing a person making a phone call and felony aggravated assault. Azalea emerged on Twitter with a few scathing tweets about her ex. “Been there. Done that. Warned you.

According to reports, it was December 20 when Carti’s then-20-weeks pregnant girlfriend said they got into an argument over paternity. She claimed a physical altercation ensued, and the rapper grabbed her by the throat until she could barely breathe before shoving her into bushes. Additionally, it wasn’t only the woman’s account that was told to investigators; a witness was said to have attempted to help the pregnant woman. It gave her enough time to wrestle from Carti and run for help.

However, Carti is accused of chasing his girlfriend to her car, where a second attack occurred. He allegedly yanked her out of the vehicle and placed his hand over her mouth. She was finally able to contact the authorities using her cellphone’s “S.O.S.” feature. When police arrived, they took note of her physical injuries, including bruising to her chest, back, and neck. Carti’s attorney denies the allegations and believes the case will be dismissed. Further, the rapper has not issued any statements about the accusations of abuse.
Social media users are looking to ensure Playboi Carti isn’t feeling the love this Valentine’s Day. While the rapper, whose real name is Jordan Carter, has his eye set on headlining a few major international music festivals, such as Wireless Fest in London and Rolling Loud Portugal, these performances might not happen because of his latest arrest.
According to TMZ, Carti was arrested for felony aggravated assault back in December in Fulton County, Georgia, for allegedly grabbing his rumored pregnant girlfriend by the throat and pushing her. Around the same time, the rapper quietly stepped away from social media, which prompted fans to speculate that new music was on the way. However, his departure from the public could possibly have been directly tied to the incident.
The outlet also reported that the incident began as an argument over a paternity test. During the identified woman’s statement to the police, she said she feared for her life during the attack as Carti allegedly held her neck until she could barely breathe. The alleged victim, a witness to the matter, did intervene to try and break up the fight and help her escape his grasp. But Carti then attacked her again as she attempted to flee to her vehicle. However, once Carti caught up to her, the rapper attempted to pull her out of the vehicle and put his hand over her mouth as she tried to use the car’s SOS feature to call the police.

Carti has not yet issued a statement regarding the matter, but his lawyer, Brian Steel, did provide one on his behalf to Complex. In an email, Steel wrote, “Mr. Carter was falsely accused. Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s Office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation.”

In the report, she said she was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of the alleged assault, which occurred on Dec. 20th, 2022. Jail records obtained by Complex confirm that police booked and released the rapper in late December.
The woman explained that she met with the Whole Lotta Red rapper to discuss her pregnancy but that turned into an argument. During the physical altercation, a witness allegedly tried to help her and break the fight up, allowing her to escape. However, once she got to her car, she said he attacked her again. Carti allegedly pulled her out of the vehicle, putting his hand over her mouth when she tried to use the S.O.S feature to call the cops. Police confirmed that they discovered visible injuries on her neck, chest, and back when they got to the scene.
In addition to the aggravated assault charge, online records show that police also booked him on hindering persons from making an emergency telephone call. Brian Steel, the attorney for the rapper, said the charges won’t stick. During Scott’s previous appearance at the festival, he advocated for the release of ASAP Rocky, who was being detained by Swedish authorities. On the other hand, Playboi Carti had a bad fall during his set last year but recovered well.
Last year’s festival headliners included Offset and Cardi B (who nearly got into an incident with an attendee, as did Lil Uzi Vert).
