Playboi Carti Plays New Music At Rolling Loud Miami, Says New Album Is Coming “ASAP”

Playboi Carti just had an incredibly eventful and surprisingly enlightening night for his Rolling Loud Miami headlining performance. Of course, Cardi’s energy absolutely electrified the crowd as he went through old classics, Whole Lotta Red hits, and even new unreleased music. Given his time back in the studio, this is incredibly exciting news for fans who have been waiting for a new release for almost three years now. Moreover, it seems like the trap pioneer only gets bigger with each passing festival set, and he brought a lot of special things for this concert in particular beyond the songs he played. Furthermore, he recreated an Opium gas station onstage with some cars to boot, and he got to interact with a lot of fans that followed him around afterwards.

During these interactions, Playboi Carti suggested that his new album, rumored to be titled Music, will be out “ASAP.” While this may seem like wishful thinking to many, other recent revelations point to that conclusion, as well. For example, he recently announced the “Antagonist” tour, which will feature him, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, and Homixide Gang. What’s more is that, according to descriptions of the Opium trek from its Berlin venue, Music is set to release at some point during these performance dates.

Elsewhere during his Miami weekend, Playboi Carti hit the E11EVEN nightclub for a wild and bizarre afterparty. That’s because, as the 26-year-old performed atop a cage, his Opium labelmates stood inside it. Sure, it’s just a nightclub performance, but this adds onto the stacked list of raucous and provocative stage design that Carti graces festivals with. For those who went to Rolling Loud Miami last year, you may remember that his cohorts wrecked white vans with baseball bats as he performed. Regardless, he got to interact with fans and even did his first “interview” in years thanks to a fit check from Chris Smoove.

Meanwhile, fans call the new track that Carti featured during Rolling Loud Miami 2023 “Pop Out.” He’s previewed it before, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting to listen to, especially when you have a screaming vamp in front of you. Throughout his set, he consistently thanked fans for their support, and all this hype around him suggests that we’ll get Music soon. Who Are The Openers For Playboi Carti’s ‘Antagonist Tour?’

A few days ago, there were rumors that Playboi Carti was getting ready to announce a tour, rumors prompted by billboard that had popped up. The rumors have been confirmed now, as today (July 12), the rapper announced he’s embarking on the Antagonist Tour. But who is he taking with him?

Carti has a few openers who will join him on the trek, all from his Opium Collective. One of them is Destroy Lonely, an Atlanta rapper who has spent the past few years building buzz with a series of mixtapes. That built up to If Looks Could Kill, his debut album from May that managed a debut at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 chart. (The album was also one of Uproxx’s most anticipated releases of this past spring.) The single “If Looks Could Kill” also made it onto the hip-hop charts.

Also joining the tour is Ken Carson, another Atlanta rapper who found some TikTok fame in late 2022 thanks to a dance to the song that was popularized by folks like Rico Nasty. Then there’s Homixide Gang, who are fresh off performing at Wireless Festival this past weekend. Their latest album, Snot Or Not, just dropped in April.

Check out the upcoming tour dates here.

Playboi Carti Announced The ‘Antagonist Tour’ With Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, And Homixide Gang

Fans waiting with bated breath for news of Playboi Carti’s next tour can finally exhale; the genre-bending, mystery-shrouded rapper has announced the dates for his upcoming Antagonist Tour. The Antagonist Tour is set to kick off in September, with Carti joined by his Opium Collective compadres Destroy Lonely, Homixide Gang, and Ken Carson. Pre-sale is set to begin on July 12 at noon local time, followed by the general sale on July 14 at noon. You can get more info here.

Carti last released a full-length album in 2020, Whole Lotta Red. Since then, he’s teased a few potential projects, including a follow-up album titled simply Music, a possible joint album with longtime collaborator Lil Uzi Vert, and another joint project with rising star YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Unfortunately, it also turned out he had one other thing in common with NBA YoungBoy: A pretty sh*tty disposition toward women. Is Playboi Carti Going On Tour Soon?

While there still haven’t been any updates regarding Playboi Carti’s long-awaited follow-up to his 2020 album, Whole Lotta Red. The “Popular” rapper has bought some time thanks to his recent festival run.

After being led on a highway chase following his appearance at Summer Smash 2023, the Playboi Carti might have gotten all the confirmation he needed to hit the road on his own tour. So, that led fans to ask, even without a new album out, is Playboi Carti going to tour soon? Well, according to Our Generation Music, the answer is yes. The outlet tweeted a billboard image alleging Carti’s next tour is in the works. But he won’t be gracing the stage alone.

In the image, not only is Playboi Carti photographed, but fellow recording artists Destroy Lonely, Ken Carson, and Homixide Gang are also listed in what is being dubbed the Antagonist Tour. Although Carti has remained radio silent on social media, seemingly since his arrest for felony aggravated assault in 2022, his rumored tourmate, Homixide Gang, took to Twitter to seemingly confirm the rumor.

No further information on the supposed Antagonist Tour is known at this time. However, fans are presumably beginning to budget just in case it turns out to be true.

Lil Yachty Corrects DJ Akademiks Over Genre Change

Earlier this year Lil Yachty made one of the most interesting surprises in hip-hop this year by transcending the genre entirely. He surprised fans by dropping an entire rock album. Not just a regular rock album but one inspired by classic and psychedelic rock. While he’s commented plenty about what inspired him to make that shift, not everyone made the right connections. Recently DJ Akademics claimed that Playboi Carti was one of the inspirations for Lil Yachty to change his sound. That wouldn’t be completely unexpected as Carti reinvented his own sound in 2020 with styles of rage and vamp music. But once the clip was posted to Twitter Yachty felt the need to correct him.

Lil Yachty apparently did tell DJ Akademiks that another artist inspired his change in sound, just not Carti. In a tweet responding to the original video Yachty clarified. “@Akademiks u r so insane, I didn’t tell u this at all. Stop drinking bro. I said Tyler encouraged me to take that route. Wtf,” his tweet read. It wasn’t the only rumor he had to clear up in Twitter recently. After some reported that Yachty claimed Playboi Carti and NBA Youngboy had an album coming soon that would be “the collab of the year.” Yachty shut down the rumor with a simple tweet. “I didn’t say this.”

Lil Yachty Corrects The Narrative

Lil Yachty recently grabbed fans’ attention in Poland, unsurprisingly. He played his viral smash hit “Poland” six times during the show. The crowd was with him all the way taking the unique opportunity to celebrate the song in perhaps the perfect place.

Lil Yachty made his surprising shift into rock music when he dropped Let’s Start Here, back in January. He followed it up a few months later in April with the new single “Strike.” The song has also gone on to become a bit of a hit adding to Yachty’s already strong year. What do you think of Lil Yachty correcting DJ Akademik’s story? Let us know in the comment section below.

Playboi Carti Previews New Music At Wireless Festival, Spends Time With Fans

Playboi Carti is without a doubt one of hip-hop’s best performers of the moment, which he proved yet again with his Wireless Festival performance on Friday (July 7) in London. Sure, he might just scream his songs through, but you aren’t hearing that energy on any studio recording. Regardless, not only did his set contain some of his biggest hits, but he also previewed new music for the U.K. crowd. Moreover, an aerial shot of the concertgoers shows just how rowdy people were, and the same can be said for a recording of his rendition of the legendary Lil Uzi Vert collab “Shoota.” With that, the Atlanta artist really covered all the bases with his concert as fans beg for a new album soon.

As far as the teased unreleased track, it’s kind of hard to make out with this video. Still, it sounds exactly like what you’d expect from Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red era. It’s loud, aggressive, bass-heavy, guitar-led, and above all energizing, which is what made that 2020 album such a live hit. All that being said, Carti’s always one to switch things up from project to project, so who knows if this will be the same energy he brings to his next offering.

What’s more is that the 26-year-old also extended his appreciation for fans to the streets- or rather, thanking them in person. Furthermore, Playboi Carti seemed to hang out with a few fans after his show, as one social media clip shows. In it, a fan recorded Carti as they listened to his collab with The Weeknd and Madonna, “Popular.” When he spotted the fan as he took a video, he cracked a smile, took a fan’s fist bump in his palm, and pulled him in with his arm for a hug.

Meanwhile, the comments sections of coverage of this post hilariously posited that he was trying to make up for ghosting Nardwuar. The legendary interviewer and journalist actually listed the “King Vamp” rager as a dream interview of his. Hopefully that’s in the cards, especially after the interaction caused so much of a stir online. Log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Playboi Carti.

Nardwuar Lists Playboi Carti Among Dream Interviews

There are few interviewers in music more beloved than Nardwuar. He’s gone viral dozens of times for hilarious interview moments with rappers. Lil Uzi Vert, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, The Creator have all had their minds blown by the detailed research Nardwuar does before his interviews. This time around it was Nardwuar getting interviewed and he was asked about what his dream interviews would be. He lists three people in his answer starting with Barack Obama and Paul McCartney. Alongside those two legends, he completes his dream list with rapper Playboi Carti.

The statement comes just a few weeks after Carti “subbed” Nardwuar. After leaving his Summer Smash show last month, Carti was chased down the street by fans trying to get a glimpse of the rapper. But before he could even make it out a different fan tried to talk with him, Nardwuar. A video that went viral shows Carti in his car ignoring the interviewer’s questions while his security holds him back. In the wake of the clip, Carti realized just how beloved Nardwuar is online when fans bashed him for ignoring the loveable interviewer.

Nardwuar’s Dream Interviews

Of course, Playboi Carti isn’t the only rapper who’s been making headlines with Nardwuar recently. One of his most beloved interviews was when he sat down with Lil Uzi Vert in 2018 and the pair recently reunited. Firstly an adorable video hit the internet of the two of them embracing and being extremely happy to see each other. In a subsequently released video Lil Uzi invites Nardwuar over to their house and offers to teach him how to play Call Of Duty.

The hilarious and occasionally mysterious interviewer is loved by many rappers. He was at Summer Smash in the first place as a guest of rapper Ski Mask The Slump God. Fans lit up with cheers when they realized who was on stage with him. A subsequent video of the pair together on stage went viral in the days following. What do you think of Nardwuar listing Playboi Carti as a dream interview subject? Let us know in the comment section below.
