It has been a while since we last heard from PartyNextDoor. The Canadian crooner’s last full-length release (Partymobile) came out in 2020, and while he re-released his Colours EP for streaming and dropped another EP, Partypack, in the years since, he’s flown pretty far under the radar for the past few years*. He’s back and is taking the rollout for his fourth studio album, PartyNextDoor 4, seriously, following up his most recent 2023 single “Resentment” with a new song, “Real Woman.”
*His reason for this? Being distracted by “relationships” — the very thing that fuels most of his creative content. “I get into relationships and then music becomes second,” he explained to Billboard.I ” think I’m going to take a break from relationships, a long break, and just get back to making music.”
Getting back to making music is just what he’s done. While he released sporadic singles last year — the aforementioned “Resentment” and “Her Old Friends” — he told Billboard, “This is the hardest I’ve ever worked on an album. This is the proudest I’ve felt.” He also explained how PartyNextDoor 4 would differ from the relatively disappointing showings on PND 3 and Partymobile. “I was still handling that sh-t like demos,” he noted. This time, he says, he won’t “cheat” the process again. He revealed the release date for the long-awaited album during his performance at Billboard’s SXSW show: April 26.

There are a lot of talented R&B artists going today. Undoubtedly, one of the biggest fan-favorites in the modern era is PARTYNEXTDOOR. The OVO Sound signee has been delivering wavy, vibey, and standout sexy tracks for just a little over 11 years now. He is best known for his self-titled series that kicked off his career and were his first three releases. Soon, PARTYNEXTDOOR will be dropping the fourth installment and to prepare for it he is back with “Real Woman.”
Since 2020, PARTYNEXTDOOR has been fairly quiet from dropping new music. The Toronto native revealed why that has been the case in a recent interview with Billboard. “I get into relationships and then music becomes second. I think I’m going to take a break from relationships, a long break, and just get back to making music.”
He also went on to mention his onstage anxieties and not using everything he has learned about making quality music to the best of his abilities. But PARTYNEXTDOOR is gearing up for a major return with “Real Woman (R e a l W o m a n).” On this track, which is looking like the third single for PARTYNEXTDOOR 4, he is singing about a love interest he sees a true future with. His stunning and sensual vocals are always a treat, and hopefully we get the album on April 26.
What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Real Woman,” by PARTYNEXTDOOR? Is this one of his strongest tracks in recent memory, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Do you think we are getting his next album in April? Who do you want to see on the record? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Last night we were sipping Henny and now we’re doing deals Tomorrow we will be hungover but hanging here (Baby) Life is good, the worst is over now I bet Love ain’t never made mo more sense than right now Ok it’s 4 AM and I’m about to turn these lights down But first I’m about to tell you how I’m, proud
Drake is the biggest PARTYNEXTDOOR fan in the world, and he couldn’t be more exciting about the upcoming release of PARTYNEXTDOOR 4, or P4 for short. Moreover, the Toronto crooner, making his comeback very soon, announced yesterday (Monday, March 11) that he’s dropping another single for the project this Friday titled “Real Woman” following the previous one, “Resentment.” “The real [goat emoji] is back this Friday @partynextdoor,” Drizzy wrote of his OVO partner on Instagram in the caption of a post of the single’s cover art. It’s been a very long time since we heard from PND in a full-length capacity, and fans can’t wait to see how he comes back to the R&B and soft trap world.
Furthermore, Drake previously praised PARTYNEXTDOOR and previewed P4 while visiting his homecoming show in Toronto. “I’m going on tour but Party droppin’ PND 4,” he said back in May of last year. “First of all, can I just say on behalf of everybody in this room, can you come home more, please? Please! I would not be the artist I am if it wasn’t for you. And that’s not, like, even some, like, I get on stage with people and I’m nice sometimes. But this is really, actually, like, my favorite artist in the world and I love this guy.”
Elsewhere, during a recent Billboard interview, PARTYNEXTDOOR spoke on his feelings about P4. “This is the hardest I’ve ever worked on an album,” he shared with the publication. “This is the proudest I’ve felt. I’m excited to grind even more for the next [one]. I’m in love with how hard you should work for it.” In the same conversation, the 30-year-old recalled making “Come and See Me” with Drake.
“I went to see Drake in the studio in Toronto,” OVO Sound’s first signee revealed. “He just said, ‘Yo, I want to play this record.’ And the 40 beat, that beat was amazing. You know, you just felt it right away. And he had a hook idea on it. So we took it back maybe two months later. I was like, ‘You know what? I gotta find something for this.’ Me and Prep locked in an Airbnb and I recorded that song on the edge of a bed in an Airbnb. And yeah, I just didn’t know it was gonna be that. I love that record. It’s one of my favorite records. And that was just magic.” For more on Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR, log back into HNHH.
Last Friday, Drake unleashed his eighth studio album, For All the Dogs. In the days since its release, the 23-track effort has been met with mixed reception from die-hard fans, casual listeners, and publications. Drake albums tend to divide listeners, and this album is no different. While celebrating his latest release, Drizzy showed that he was not afraid to clap back against his biggest critics, especially Joe Budden. He even sent shots at Parks, a co-host of The Joe Budden Podcast. Drake also posted a screenshot, laughing off harsh comments under HotNewHipHop’s original Take Care review on his Instagram story.
Now that For All the Dogs has been out long enough to establish itself among Drake’s most recent releases, here are five highlights from the album. This list focuses on instant favorites from For All the Dogs. Therefore, it excludes the previously-released singles “Slime You Out” featuring SZA and the Conductor Williams-produced “8am In Charlotte.” Listed in no particular order, take a look at the selections below.
For All The Dogs Starts Strong With “Virginia Beach”
Fans can always count on Drake for a compelling intro, which he provides on “Virginia Beach.” The instrumental features a reversed and sped-up sample from 40, guaranteed to excite fans. “Virginia Beach” also contains a phenomenal flip of “Wiseman” by Frank Ocean, a song originally meant for the Django Unchained soundtrack. It was eventually featured in the 2015 film Southpaw. “Wiseman” is a lesser-known Frank Ocean song as it only saw an official release on Ocean’s Tumblr page in 2012.
Further, For All the Dogs also references Frank Ocean’s “Pyramids” on “Tried Our Best,” which is another standout track. Drake tends to rap on his intros but opts to sing on “Virginia Beach,” setting the tone for an album filled with songs reminiscing on past relationships.
Arguably, the best song on For All the Dogs is “First Person Shooter,” which sees Drake and J. Cole reuniting for their first song since “Jodeci Freestyle.” Cole undoubtedly contributes the best feature on the album, continuing a run of incredible features throughout 2023. Over an energetic beat, he raps about numerous topics, including fake beefs and not falling off despite naming his next album, The Fall Off. Cole also compares himself and Drake to the “Spiderman meme” and says the two and Kendrick Lamar are the hardest MCs.
Drake supplies the energy on the chorus, boasting that he’s “big as the Super Bowl.” “First Person Shooter” also includes a beat switch where Drake flexes on his haters. He boasts that he’s a No. 1 song away from beating Michael Jackson’s Hot 100 Record and uses “a Grammy as a doorstop.” J. Cole amazes with a stellar verse, and Drake spits his toughest bars on “First Person Shooter.”
“Bahamas Promises”
This highlight on For All the Dogs is a slow ballad where Drake voices his frustrations with a girl named Hayley. He sings about her “broken pinky promises” and that she “f*cked up [their] Bahamas trip.” Though tired of her apologies, he still misses her as he reminisces about what they could have been. “Bahamas Promises” is easily Drake’s best vocal performance on the album. A vignette of raw emotion, it is also one of the better relationship-focused tracks that feels more sincere than the album’s other R&B tracks.
Drake Gets In His Feelings On “Drew A Picasso”
“Drew a Picasso” is one of the more vulnerable moments on For All the Dogs. It stands out with its moody instrumental, reminiscent of the Views era. Drake sings about a relationship that came to a tumultuous end, longing for the girl to come back to him. “You’re mine,” he sings in the chorus. “I can’t picture you with him, that’s just so embarrassing / I want to die,” he continues before ruminating on his regrets and taking digs at her new man. Drake is clearly in his feelings on this song, which is one of his artistic specialties.
“Members Only” feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR
Drake reconnects with PARTYNEXTDOOR on “Members Only.” The Toronto natives and OVO labelmates have never missed when collaborating, and this track is no exception. This downbeat R&B song sees Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR crooning about a girl who is so tight with his crew that she is a member of the “gangy.” The catchy melodies recall previous collaborations like “Since Way Back” and “Come and See Me.” A particularly noteworthy line is when Drake sings, “Feel like I’m bi, cause you’re one of the guys, girl.” It is certainly a humorous lyric reminiscent of the “say that you’re a lesbian, girl me too” lyric from “Girls Want Girls.” Ultimately, Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR are an unbeatable duo when it comes to their heartfelt R&B songs. Their latest collaboration is a definitive highlight on For All the Dogs.
Late last night Drake dropped his highly-anticipated new album For All The Dogs. Fans are still processing the record’s 23 songs and numerous high-profile features. The tracklist includes SZA, Bad Bunny, J. Cole, 21 Savage, Sexyy Red, Teezo Touchdown, Yeat, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Chief Keef, and Lil Yachty. One person it doesn’t include is The Weeknd. While he and Drake have collaborated in the past, The Weeknd claims that he’s done doing features and that his appearance on Diddy’s album last month was his final guest appearance.
One way The Weeknd does appear on For All The Dogs, however, is in the lyrics. In the second half of the record the song “All The Parties” contains lyrics that reference him directly. “My b*tches playin’ PND and them, the shorties only listen to The Weeknd. The exact meaning behind the lyrics is still up for debate but some jumped immediately to it being a diss. Others pointed out that PND is a deeper cut for many Drake fans and still has a closer connection to the rapper artistically. Even then though, it gets into the long-running rumors of beef between PND and The Weeknd dating back to their time at OVO. Check out the entire song below.
Another artist that doesn’t appear on For All The Dogs is Nicki Minaj. After Drake had initially promised a new track from the long-running collaborators he seemingly didn’t deliver. That has Nicki’s notoriously rabid fanbase of Barbz pretty heated at the rapper online.
Shortly after the release of For All The Dogs, Drake claimed that he would be taking a break from music for a little while. He’s released extremely prolifically for years including two entire albums last year. Now he will seemingly take a break for a while to focus on his own health. Do you think Drake’s mention of The Weeknd on one of his new songs is intended as a diss? Let us know in the comment section below.
PartyNextDoor heard that 2023 was the musical year of comebacks. So he’s deciding to give fans what they’ve been begging for — new music. The singer has broken quite a few hearts in the past, but on his new single “Resentment,” he acknowledged that it’s no fun when roles are reversed.
The self-produced track marks the entertainer’s official follow-up to his song “Her Old Friends,” shared in January. On this release, PartyNextDoor turned inward to examine his role in the relationship’s demise instead of blaming others for his failed attempt at a forever love.
As he sings, “Thinking about getting even, but I ain’t even aspire to get that low / I just want to know what we’re waiting for, baby
I won’t keep bringing up the past, I won’t keep trying to run it back / I won’t keep standing for it / What be going through your mind, staying out past 5 / And you know you’re going to get checked for it,” the singer confessed how his nonassertion eroded the health of the relationship.
While his 2020 EP Partypack, didn’t have much staying power, his forthcoming album PartyNextDoor 4 is shaping up to deliver a lasting punch.

PartyNextDoor had been pretty quiet as of late. His last album, Partymobile, dropped back in early 2020. Throughout the entire pandemic and up until now, the R&B artist wasn’t releasing any new music of note. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, he’s throwing out new tunes left and right. His latest release, a song titled “Resentment,” will drop tonight, July 6th. He posted a snippet of the track, which has now made the rounds on Twitter.
Two months ago, another unreleased PartyNextDoor song leaked onto the internet. “Bricks,” which features Drake, was created back in the More Life days of Drake’s career. It has a similar sample to the Drizzy song “Passionfruit.” Party also dropped “Her Old Friends” early this year, a sign of more things to come. With “Resentment” being the third appearance on a song this year — he was also on Diddy’s “Sex in a Porsche” — PartyNextDoor is heating up for one heck of a comeback.
The OVO artist has been pairing up with teammate Drake for a few stage performances, with Drizzy confirming PartyNextDoor’s next album release, PartyNextDoor4. Party has also tweeted out, “P4 otw,” all but ensuring fans of plenty of new music on the way. From the snippet above, we can tell that Party is still one of the best R&B singers on the planet right now. He’s crooning over sultry sound and crackling beats, which is what his fans have come to expect.
PartyNextDoor has enjoyed a fairly successful career so far. PartyNextDoor4 will be his fifth studio album, returning to the normal naming of his albums after a brief Partymobile foray. Back in 2017, he racked up nominations, including two Grammy nods for Best R&B Song (“Come and See Me” with Drake) and Album of the Year (Drake’s Views, of which Party was a featured artist). The OVO alum will look to collect more accolades with the latest album. Sadly, we do not have a release date for the project; we’ll simply have to live with “Resentment” dropping tonight as consolation.
For quite some time after the release of his fourth album PartyMobile, Toronto singer and OVO Sound signee PartyNextDoor remained fairly quiet on the music scene. He worked with Popcaan, Trippie Redd, Diddy, and OG Parker, and released some beloved SoundCloud cuts through his PartyPack. At long last, Party’s absence came to an end at the beginning of the year with “Her Old Friends” and what followed were promises that his next project PartyNextDoor4 was on the way. While the wait for that continues, fans will be able to enjoy a new single from the singer tonight.
In a post to his Instagram story, PartyNextDoor revealed that his second single of the year will arrive tonight on July 7. The record is titled “Resentment,” and thanks to a snippet that he shared in a broadcast channel on Instagram, the track is reminiscent of PartyNextDoor records that fans have come to love over the years. In addition to sharing the snippet for “Resentment,” PartyNextDoor also confirmed once again that “P4 otw” thanks to a message he shared in the channel.
You can hear the snippet for “Resentment” in the post above.

This time, she’ll be accompanied as co-headliner by Jazmine Sullivan, with support from PartyNextDoor, Don Toliver, Alina Baraz, Toosii, Smino, and Syd, in addition to many more breakout artists in hip-hop and R&B.
The Lights On Fest is billed for the weekend of September 16-17 at Shoreline Festival Grounds in Mountain View. The presale for tickets begins this Thursday, June 28, at 12 pm, while the general sale begins on Friday at 12. You can get more information at LightsOnFest.com.
While some fans thought HER was in danger of becoming oversaturated, what with her numerous Grammys, Oscars, and Emmys — she’s only a Tony Award away from an EGOT — she has kept a low profile early this year after declaring that she wanted “people to get to know the person behind [the HER persona]” — a process that drew plenty of positive attention. Making a comeback with her well-received festival will help with that, as will her upcoming role in the musical remake of The Color Purple dropping later this year.
