Doja Cat’s “Get Into It (Yuh)” has a lot of influence from Nicki Minaj, so much so that Doja even acknowledges it in the song’s closing lines: “Thank you, Nicki, I love you / Got that big rocket launcher!” Minaj was actually meant to feature on the song, but she turned down the opportunity. Now, she has explained why.

Over the weekend, Minaj joined a fan’s Twitter Spaces conversation (as HotNewHipHop notes), and during her visit, a fan speculated that Minaj was too busy to guest on Doja’s album. Minaj set the record straight on that, though, saying:
“It’s not that I’m too busy at all. It’s just that there were, like, middle people involved in that situation, so I had told her, if it was like how me and BIA were direct and we dealt to each other directly [about the ‘Whole Lotta Money’ remix]… but I didn’t love that song [‘Get Into It’] because I didn’t think I could bring anything to it. So I asked them to send me something else. I think that was the second song they sent me, but I asked them to send me something else and they didn’t send me anything else.”
So, ultimately, there seems to be interested in a collaboration from both sides, so it remains to be seen if Doja and Minaj will link up on a song in the future.

It’s been almost exactly three years since Nicki Minaj told her fans she would be retiring from music to focus on starting a family. While Nicki’s retirement wasn’t exactly permanent, the rapper still took time off of music to focus on having her first child with her husband Kenneth Petty. Ever since, rapper has clearly been loving watching her baby reach all of his developmental milestones, like his first-ever words.
Nicki has yet to tell her fans what her baby’s real name is, but she affectionately refers to him as “Papa Bear.” The rapper took to Instagram to give some updates about the 11-month-old, revealing that he just said some of his first words. Thankfully, the whole thing was caught on camera — and it’s about as adorable as it gets.
The video shows Papa Bear sitting on Nicki’s lap next to his father. Nicki keeps coaxing Papa Bear to speak, waving his arms at the camera. The baby then clearly says the word, “Hi,” which sends Nicki over the moon as she gasps in excitement.
In other Nicki news, the rapper briefly appears on a track from Drake’s anticipated Certified Lover Boy album. Nicki’s voice sample is featured on the track “Papi’s Home,” a collaboration fans had been looking forward to since Nicki hinted that Drake was in her studio a few months ago.
Elton John has spent a lot of time working with other artists over the past year or so, and now he’s commemorating that era with The Lockdown Sessions, a new album consisting of collaborations. While the project, which is set for release on October 22, is billed as a new album, it is like a compilation in ways, as it features previously released songs on which John is featured, like Gorillaz’s “The Pink Phantom” and Miley Cyrus’ cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.”
Aside from the aforementioned, the album features collaborations with Brandi Carlile, Charlie Puth, Dua Lipa, Eddie Vedder, Lil Nas X, Nicki Minaj, Rina Sawayama, SG Lewis, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder, Surfaces, Years & Years, Young Thug, and others.
John says of the project:
“The last thing I expected to do during lockdown was make an album. But, as the pandemic went on, one‐off projects kept cropping up. Some of the recording sessions had to be done remotely, via Zoom, which I’d obviously never done before. Some of the sessions were recorded under very stringent safety regulations: working with another artist, but separated by glass screens. But all the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory. And I realized there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast.”
