Travis Scott Reveals J. Cole Was Almost Featured On “UTOPIA”

Travis Scott’s new album UTOPIA has already become the biggest hip-hop event of 2023. Though the project has divided some fans and critics in terms of its quality it has already become the most successful rap album of the year by far. Earlier this week it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. But the album didn’t JUST debut at number one, it debuted with an astounding first-week sales count of nearly 500k units. That was the third biggest first-week sales of 2023 so far behind only two of music’s other biggest superstars Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift.

Travis Scott was supposed to perform many of the songs from the record live for the first time from Egypt. After the show had to be canceled for logistical reasons it was moved to Rome. The concert took place yesterday in front of tens of thousands of fans. Discussions about Scott’s collaborators were ongoing as Kanye West was spotted before the show and even ended up joining Travis on stage. UTOPIA features an absolutely amazing collection of talent. Beyonce, SZA, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Future, Playboi Carti, Drake, and MANY more appear in the stacked tracklist. During the show Travis let fans know about another collaborator who almost joined in.

Travis Scott Cut J. Cole Feature At The Last Minute

Travis Scott originally released “MAFIA” as a two-part single in 2021. The songs were dropped just before the tragic events at the rapper’s Astroworld festival took place. Scott revealed to fans that the J. Cole-assisted track was originally meant to land on UTOPIA but was cut and replaced with “I KNOW ?” at the last minute.

Travis Scott’s entire UTOPIA concert from Rome is now available to watch online. While fans in attendance seemed ecstatic, those watching at home have had mixed reviews. Critiques of the performance included just how much time Travis spent talking and his DJ skipping out on certain songs early. What do you think of J. Cole being left off of UTOPIA at the last minute? Let us know in the comment section below.

Keyshia Cole Claps Back At Nicki Fan Over Cardi Endorsement

Stans online don’t play about their favorite artists. Anyone who has ever talked about a popular artist online likely knows the kind of force their fans can rain down. Keyshia Cole found this out on Twitter recently when she got caught in the Nicki Minaj versus Cardi B crossfire. During her Cardi Party Livestream, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper played a number of songs by female artists that she enjoyed. One of which was “Down And Dirty” by Keyshia Cole, who heard about it afterward.

When a fan pointed out to her that one of her songs was included she had nothing but love to show. “Always loved/love my Cardi,” Keyshia Cole tweeted. Unfortunately, that co-sign didn’t sit right with some of Nicki Minaj’s fans. One barb in particular, @BowMinaj responded to Cole saying “A legend like you should have higher standards but I guess.” That didn’t seem to go over well as Cole quickly clapped back. “Keep me out y’all fan rivalry. Cardi said loves my music. She can say that. I love Bardi, I can say that. And I still remain. Legend,” she said in a response tweet.

Keisha Cole Claps Back

Her response resonated with a number of fans. Replies shouted her out for being above the beef and for her willingness to show Cardi love. Another tweet said that Cardi and Keyshia should collaborate on a song together. Overall Keyshia Cole’s refusal to participate in the supposed beef between the two resulted in quite a bit of love from fans. Just last week Cole dropped the trailer for her upcoming biopic. The film is set to air for the first time on Lifetime later this month.

Cardi B is fresh off a collaboration with a different major female rapper. She joined Latto for a remix of her track “Put It On Da Floor” which is appropriately titled “Put It On Da Floor Again.” The track gained a massive boost in streaming following Cardi’s remix. Nicki on the other hand just dropped “Pound Town 2” with Sexyy Red and Tay Keith. The song debuted on the Hot 100 following her remix. She’s also continually teased her new song with Ice Spice for the upcoming Barbie movie. The track is expected to be released later this week.

Adin Ross Gets Upset At Drake For Allegedly Following His Ex and Sister On Instagram

In August 2022, streamer Adin Ross was surprised by a call from Drake while he was streaming. Ross’ star has faded immensely since that point. While still an incredibly popular streamer, Ross is permanently banned from Twitch and currently streams on the controversial platform Kick.

Furthermore, his engine runs a lot more on drama these days. A devout Andrew Tate follower, Ross now generates clicks by telling people to kill themselves on social media. As recently as last week, Travis Scott’s manager told Ross he was a “brand risk” and big-name artists just don’t want to be associated with him. Not surprising given Ross has co-streamed with self-described Nazis. However, Ross now appears to be trying to get Drake back on the phone. Or, at the very least, start some beef.

Ross Reacts To Drake’s Alleged Instagram Follows

During a stream last week, Ross opened up an image posted to his community Discord. The image claims to show Drake’s Instagram follows, with the accounts of Ross’ ex and sister at the top of the list. Ross looks at the image in shock for a few seconds before responding. “Damn chat, so Drake decided to follow Pami and Naomi. Drake. You follow them before you even follow me. You don’t reach out, none of that, that’s cool. I just don’t get why. I just don’t understand how you’re going to follow my sister and my ex and not follow me.” It appears as though Ross really took it personally that he couldn’t get that follow from Drake.

However, as his chat rightly pointed out while he reacted, the image is fake. HotNewHipHop has independently confirmed that Drake follows neither individual on Instagram. It’s likely that the meme was intentionally designed to up Ross and if that’s the case, it definitely did the job. Ross’ reaction to not being followed by Drake is kind of pathetic, especially for someone who supposedly buys into the whole “alpha male” lifestyle. Regardless, Ross was duped by his Discord server and the world got to laugh at his expense. Follow all the latest music news and viral videos here at HotNewHipHop.

Lil Wayne Will Livestream Final “Welcome To Tha Carter” Tour Stop

If you didn’t get a chance to catch Lil Wayne on his “Welcome To Tha Carter” tour, at least you now have a chance to witness its greatness from the comfort of your home. Moreover, Weezy announced on Monday (May 1) that he and his team will livestream the trek’s final stop, which is in The Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles on May 13. Furthermore, the stream will begin at 9 p.m. PDT (12 a.m. EDT) that night, followed by a rebroadcast at 8 p.m. AEST and 8 p.m. BST the next day. These would be 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. in eastern time, respectively.

Also on May 14, the show will be available to purchase on-demand starting at 5 p.m. EDT, and said availability ends at 5 p.m. EDT on May 16. In order to access these airings and recordings, fans will pay $15 for their livestream tickets, which are available here. Of course, for hardcore fans of the Young Money icon who couldn’t see him in person, this is a very exciting announcement. The final stop of the 28-date tour might bring more exceptional moments, like when Lil Wayne brought out Drake in Toronto.

Other highlights of the “Welcome To Tha Carter” tour, aside from Tunechi’s consistently amazing performances, involve his guests. For example, NLE Choppa gifted Lil Wayne a stunning custom chain at his Boston concert, which features four Mount Rushmore-like figures of the New Orleans native representing his different eras. In addition, Wayne and Cam’ron performed their collaboration “Touch It or Not” for the first time ever while he stopped at Harlem for his tour.

Unfortunately for some, the successful tour ran into some pitfalls along the way. Fans in Atlanta took to social media to vent after the 40-year-old had to cancel his show there. While neither he nor his team explained why beyond “unforeseen circumstances,” hopeful concert-goers expressed a mix of anger, disappointment, but also concern for his well-being and safety. Fortunately, since then, it seems like things have gone great, and will end even greater now. For more updates on this story and the latest news on Lil Wayne, log back into HNHH.

Frank Ocean’s Coachella Live Stream Seemingly Cancelled, Twitter Reacts

The final hours of Coachella weekend one are winding down. Patrons are certainly eager to catch the most highly anticipated headliner of the weekend, Frank Ocean. The Blond artist’s set is due to begin at 10 PM PT. Many have been counting down the hours until showtime all weekend long. Thankfully for those who couldn’t make it to this year’s event, the festival has been streaming several performances live via YouTube. While fans of Ocean have been looking forward to watching his first concert in years from the comfort of their own homes, speculation began circulating online on Sunday (April 16) evening that Coachella won’t be giving us a glimpse into the final show of the night.

It’s worth noting that Friday and Saturday’s main events, Bad Bunny and BLACKPINK, both made their sets available to audiences at home. Today, however, acts like Bjork and Ocean were notably missing from the streaming schedule, causing major concern to fly. “When is Frank Ocean gonna stop the anonymous game?” one Twitter user openly pondered upon hearing the news. “You’re not [an] underground artist. We all know what you look and smell like and know your favourite colour.”

Frank Ocean Headlines Coachella 2023

Several others chimed in with memes and videos depicting their reaction to the potential cancellation. Though undeniably dramatic, the outrage is understandable considering tonight marks Ocean’s first performance since 2017. He previously trended online last week as music lovers realized he likely wouldn’t be dropping a new album ahead of his Coachella set as many anticipated. Rather, the 35-year-old has kept quiet as of late, with his last official release coming in the form of 2020’s “Cayendo” and “Dear April.”

Prior to that, 2019 gave us singles such as “DHL” and “In My Room,” while 2018 saw the arrival of “Moon River.” He hasn’t delivered a full-length project since 2016, though we’ve got our fingers crossed that will change soon. Scroll on to read more reactions to Coachella reportedly cancelling Frank Ocean’s live stream, and check back later for more music news updates.
